Not doing much of anything due to no power here since yesterday at dinner time. These powerful storms always leave us in a mess around these parts. Using the generator now for a little bit. If nothing else at least I can regain my sanity :H

SL, you know the pity parties only make things worse. Been there & done that before.
Waiting things out is a much better way to go

Hi all and happy 4th.
Girls home and fast asleep. I am in bed with my first cuppa of the day - no alarms today also no hangover I knew I would not drink, which is a lovely feeling - just hated feeling as if I wanted to!
Pampering myself was good advice - just don't know how to do that, a new skill I have to learn. I actually curled up in my bed with a good novel - very nice. Girls got home around midnight, and glad to have them in the fold. They have started counseling and some things about their time with their dad are coming out and are upsetting to me - nothing terrible as we can read in the news, but all the same!
This afternoon we are off with an organized group (REI - one of the outdoor stores around here) into the sierras - we will be up high (Donner Pass) watching the fireworks over the mountains - should see three towns, then hike down in the dark listening to the owls etc. We are all so excited - and something I could not have even considered a couple years back - going out in the evening on a good day with a wonderful reason to drink!!! How my life is changing!
Thanks for letting me visit last night and move the feelings along.

Ahoy ABeroooooos! and special mega kudos to our dear Mick for 2+ years on the good ship.

can't really bring myself to celebrate this day anymore. the tax and elitist intervention by King George II pale in comparison to what today's children face. sigh... but no drinking for me!

hang tight with me Scottish Lass, oh BTW I went to the local 'establishment' yesterday while the agent was showing our house and had an icecream (not al) the gal working there is from Scotland and has the most magnificent thick brogue I've ever heard. we had a hoot chatting about food and culture.

gotta work today and the client is in Tahoe which is always a parking lot on holidays so i better leave very early and expect to be home late. it's a super party scene up there but I'm determined to keep my bum in AF mode and listen to some podcasts while sitting in traffic.

The only time I was in the US for 4 July fireworks was back in the 1990s I can't remember anything probably because I was drinking. I was much more interested in that.

Got the girls up, got to pack rucksacks with hats, scarfs and gloves as it's supposed to reach 40 'up there' - strange when it is 100 here.
Happy to Det! Be safe with the loonies that I am sure will be on the roads - I hardly have a brogue at all - family from Aberdeenshire where they speak the queens English
TT - hope all is settling with you. Glad your daughter will be getting a break - will give you a wee break from worrying about her work too if no more.

Yeeeeee Hawwww All....

Stampede has started so it's 10 days of drunks. Don't know if I mentioned before but the powers that be have decided to open the bars at 8:00 am during stampede. OMG it's a drunk fest as it is.

Lots of people popping on today...good to see you all.

Had an easy day at work and looking forward to the weekend. Everyone sounds good, keep it up.......PPQP
