    Absolutely AF August

    Good morning,

Dill, we had about 20 showings of the house, no offers, and a relative reminded me about the tradition of the St. Joseph statue. I bought one, my husband and I buried it per instructions and said the prayers. Within one week we had an offer. I continue to pray to St. Joseph and when the house sells will retrieve the statue and put it in a place of honor in our new home, also per tradition. So, interesting that you mention it. I know this made the difference. Nice you spent the day it the grandkids.

Lav, hope things go well today and you get some answers.

Really focusing on being healthy, eating well, deep breathing, being AF. Just in case anyone else reads this, know that AF you can manage difficult issues, get through extreme emotions, and make good choices. Just feel so good physically today I had to mention it.

To all, have a great productive day.

Good morning friends & Happy Hump day!

I'm a bit sluggish but I am here. My daughter & granddaughter have been here since Monday afternoon, the distraction has been helpful.
No change in the foot situation. I just have to live with it until I get in to see the Podiatrist on Monday, oh well.

Star & Dill, I have never heard of the St Joseph statue thing. Whatever works I guess
It is good to be AF during these major & inevitable changes in our lives. Feels like a wonderful gift of self-love!
The grandkids are exhausting but they are the best

I am not even trying to get to Curves this week. Maybe next week - we will see. I am staying busy just trying to keep up with house things, animals, garden, etc. Grateful for it all!

Have a wonderful AF Day everyone!
      Hello to Cyn & Papmom.

Hi Star-Sure hope all will be improving in the sale of your house very soon. These things never go smoothly but always work out in the end. Have faith and keep moving forward.
I love Trader Joe's-I get good food at a very good price there. I never have to worry about partially hydrogenated oil in their products either. You will fall in love with it!!

Dill-how proud of you of your son!!

Lav-any more news on your foot or do you have to see a specialist? Could it be vascular?

Sorry guys, I thought I sent this last nite but just turned on my pc and here it is!!

          Hello All

Lav, I had never heard of the St. Joseph statue tradition either. I love the whole idea of it tho. I am so sorry that you have been having so much trouble with your foot. Is the Podiatrist a referral from your doc? I truly hope you find relief.

Star, I appreciated you talking about how much better it is to face life and to deal with difficulties AF. So very true. I did not see that for so many years.

          Have a good evening all.

            Hello all -
So sorry to be gone for these days. Seems like I've been at it 24/7, but of course I have slept a little in the last week. Things are going well with the festival, but there are always challenges.

Lav - so sorry about your foot, darn. I'm sending you healing energy. It's hard to feel good all over if your foot is giving you trouble. Good luck, and I'll pop back in to see what you find out. Hope it's not RA...

Star - wow, you are really still going at it - good for you. I'm so glad that soon you'll be with your daughter and able to help. Just keep doing all the stuff the Inspector wants; it's a pain, but soon you'll be done. Congrats on all you've accomplished and on keeping gratitude at the front.

Dill - so glad to hear that your son is happy and is seeing the world in a different light. The tryke must have been a huge hit! Hope you are doing well and enjoying the end of summer.

Pap - sounds like your work situation is doing OK, I sure hope so. Like you, i love Trader Joe's. Like Lav, I live over an hour from the closest one. (SOB!). CT groceries are super-expensive, so I should just bite the bullet and go there once a month to stock up on all the great, inexpensive foods they have.

I apologize if I can't get here too often in the next week; there is always something that needs to be done, or someone to meet with, or something like that! So, please know that I'm thinking of each of you, and sending strength and good energy, and I'll catch up with you all soon. Promise!

              Good morning...

Another busy day with lots accomplished. I started at 6:15 when the workmen arrived, and by 4 p.m. felt exhausted. Ate badly and just rested. So, today have goals set and one more vendor to look at air conditioner. I am eating healthy today, one bad meal a week is enough when I have to be at the top of my game.

Lav, take care of yourself till you get to the specialist. Does it get worse as the day goes on? I hate swelling and pain and feel badly you have this. Sending you healing energy too.

Cyn, so good to hear from you. How is it to be back in the desert? Take care and have fun.

Pap, good to hear from you hope you are doing well.

Dill, I am so thankful I am feeling well throughout this journey of moving. So unexpected and challenging. This is so funny, I went through my shoes and have six pairs for work, five pairs of sandals, four sets of boots, slippers, four pairs of tennis shoes and some miscellaneous pairs. Plus I will take some to Good Will. Isn't that alot of shoes? I accumulated them over the years, but was surprised at the number. Went through my drawers yesterday and today is the closet. Good grief. It is really good to go through stuff and declutter. I will not miss anything I have sold, given away or thrown out, I'll bet. I guess my point is, I have so much and I am very grateful. Not reading anything new right now, just waiting to explore a new library next week in new location. THAT is exciting to me. I am a nerd.

Have a great day to all.

Good morning all nerds & friends

Glad everything is going well for you Star!
Your move is getting so close, how exciting. I hope the rest of your work goes easily

Cyn, nice to hear from you!
Good to hear the festival is going well

                Greetings Dill & Papmom!

My foot problem continues but I'm not about to let it get me down. As long as I am able to hobble along, I will
It's not a vascular problem Papmom, I have a good pulse, good color & skin temp. I really think this is more of an infectious arthritis thing. The podiatrist was recommended by my doc Dill.

My girls are still here, enjoying their company. We harvested some brussel sprouts last evening, can't wait to try them - yum!

Have a great AF day everyone!

                  Good Evening All,

I've spent the day at the lake with Mr. D and with my good friend who was widowed a couple of years ago. It was so peaceful and heavenly!

Papmom, I didn't see your post last night or I would have commented to you. Sorry! Yes, I am proud of my son, thanks.

Star, that's funny about the shoes. You make me want to go take stock of my own. I have more than I need, for sure. It's one of those items that just accumulates over the years, you know? I'll try to remember to take an official count and report in here in the next few days!:H I am not reading anything special lately either but I can recommend a couple books I am sure you would like if you get a chance: Mr. Rosenblum Dreams in English, by Natasha Solomons, and The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, by Mary Ann Shaffer.

Cyn, it is really nice to see my son peel back the layers and make the cognitive shift he is making. We have all done that ourselves here as we have moved away from our dependence on alcohol as well, haven't we. Take care of yourself and enjoy yourself. Check in when you can.

Lav, did you try your brussel sprouts yet? I love them! I've never grown them tho. Have you ever roasted them? MMMmmmmm! I hope you don't have to hobble for much longer.:l

                    Good morning,

Lav, you are not letting the swollen foot thing get you down, good for you. Family time sounds fun!!
Things are moving along here, had some irritation with Sears making me wait 5 1/2 hours for an appointment to check my heating and airconditioning, but every thing is good. Packed alot more yesterday while I was waiting, so the time was spent productively. I got really mad through, and it was not good for me. To let myself get that angry affected me physically and I just wanted to mention it, because I will not do that again. I was just shocked that Sears would not have at least called me to tell me that they would be late or something. I think after all the vendors I have put up with this week, this was the last straw!

Dill, I loved the Gueursey Literary book, a friend and I read it a few years ago. It is a really good story, well written and when I move I am going to find the new library and read it again, that is how much I liked it!! I know, isn't it funny about the shoes? With my feet staying the same size, I just kept adding to the collection and it has really grown. Plus my friend, who has the exact same size feet, gave me some shoes she bought that hurt her feet with too high heels. So, gave them to me as I need a little heel so my pants don't drag. See, I guess I AM obsessed with shoes. Haha. Or should I have put lol.

Ate badly last night, another nono, so feel swollen today. Just went for a sandwich and chips, but I need to eat at home or feel unwell. Getting older is not fun. I know, I should have chosen the salad, and almost did, but the BLT sounded so good. Now, a day of water, juices, and smoothies to get back to normal. Hope you are all feeling well and loving your lives. I am trying.

                    Have a good day.

                      Good morning Star & everyone

Had a rather crappy night but what can you do?
Hot flashes started at 3 am, dogs were noisy, blah, blah, blah :H
YB returned from his seminar last evening. He was bored with it & decided to skip today's meetings. Don't really blame him because I used to be bored going to those things too
I'm noticing my foot seems to be extra sore & swollen in the mornings which leads me to think this whole thing may be an RA problem after all.
I have to deliver eggs to my Curves friends this morning even though I have not been exercising this week. I think I'm going to take the girls blackberry picking at a place in Maryland today. Staying somewhat busy & occupied helps keep my mind off of my problems!

Star, be sure to tell Sears about their service technicians. Maybe they will refund some of the $$ you had to shell out. Glad everything turned out OK
I am really watching what I am eating too. I just don't want to add to my miseries!

Dill, I usually do roast fresh veggies like brussel sprouts & cauliflower but didn't yesterday. I felt compelled to turn the oven on for cleaning when I started cooking dinner so it was occupied. I just steamed them & they were delicious. You day at the lake sounded nice!

Greetings Cyn & Papmom. I need to go refill my coffee cup.
Have a great AF day everyone!

Oh darn! I just lost a long post. I hate that!

                        Short review:

I made miso soup for the first time today. I found miso paste, seaweed and tofu at a little chineses grocer store near the Wright Patterson AFB. It was easy and really delicious. At the same store I bought a bag of frozen pork stuffed dumplings which I prepared with a sweet/sour soy dipping sauce. It was a nice change of pace for lunch!

Lav, sorry your foot is still giving you fits. It's good you are keeping yourself distracted by staying busy. Did you and the girls go berry picking? If so, what did you do with your berries?

Star, I loved the Guernsey book too! I think you will like the the Mr. Rosenblum book as well. Also, I don't know if I ever mentioned the book called Lottery, by Patricia Wood. I think maybe you'd like that one too. It was quirky, but touching.

Had to postpone berry picking. When I looked at the website again I realized you can only pick on Wednesdays, Saturdays 7 Sundays - darn.
My daughter & granddaughter had to go home after dinner tonight. Maybe I'll wander over for some blackberries myself this weekend . I was thinking of making some low sugar jam

                            Evening all!

Star-you don't even want to see my 3 shoe racks LOL!! I have a real thing about shoes but not expensive designer ones. Flip flops in every color, sneakers and practical loafers for work. Every once in a while I get the urge for summer mules and go crazy but I think I'm over that obsession since I don't wear skirts or dresses anymore.
Sorry about your bad experience with Sears. Hope they will do something to compensate you.

Dill-you day at the lake sounded lovely. I dream of living on the water. Hoping to go sailing next weekend. Boat is on the market so this might be my last chance. Dad said I can bring Mickey. He'll wear a life preserver and I think will really like it as long as it's not too choppy.

Lav-my foot hurts reading your descriptions. I sure hope Monday will bring some relief. Glad you were able to spend some quality time with your girls. I bet you can't wait to get back to curves!!

Cyn-so good to hear from you!! Hope the festival starts to go better for you. 2 more weeks to go right?

I've had a very boring week (really 2 weeks) at work. It is getting so ridiculous. Next week everyone is back from vacation -which is good and bad-and at least it is a short week for me (Friday off).
This week on the exercise front I started week 3 of C25K and thought I was going to have another heart attack! Went from jogging 90 sec to 2 minutes-6 sets down to 4 but it was hard!! Legs felt like lead and my lungs were burning. Last nite I did a water aerobics class for the first time adn she kicked our butts but it felt good.

Tonite was a vet appointment for LM and even tho we got out early I've been feeling very unsettled so opted to get ready for my weekend demos and try to relax. Not sure why I can't. I still feel very antsy. Hoping I can get some sleep tonite.

Have a great weekend everyone. I'll try to check in at some point.

                              Morning all...

Lav, I am up really early today, so just decided to make coffee and start my day! More packing, of course, it never ends. Last year I went blueberry picking and it was so fun, the berries were good plain, in smoothies, and I wished I could have gone this year. Hope you get to go pickin. How fun to spend time with your daughter, I am going to be spending lots of time with my daughter too, and really looking forward to it.

Dill, right now not reading anything, too busy, but will keep those other books in mind, too. Had a nice visit with my son yesterday, he is doing well and we were able to give him a few more pieces of furniture: small bookcase and old entertainment center for his TV. I swear, this house is not that big but we keep finding more. It is ridiculous. I hope to spend some time at my pool today, it was so nice out yesterday, but no time for play. I am making time for relaxation today. Hope you get some too.

Pap, so good you are doing so well. I love to hear about your continued exercise routine, it is so good for you and sounds fun too. I would love to live by a lake, and we have talked about looking for a small house on a lake when we move again next year. Yikes, I can't even think about that now. I have complained to Sears online, and heard nothing. They really don't care. My mistake was in getting so angry, it is just not good to get that mad over anything. Sorry work is a bore, that can be torture. Hope you get to go on the boat next weekend. That sounds fun and your doggy with his life jacket sounds cute. Last summer, I saw some dogs on boats with those on and they were so happy and proud to be boating!!! I got a bit kick out of it.

Thinking about you Cyn, and hoping things are going well.

                              Have a satisfying Saturday.

                                Good morning friends,

Thanks for the coffee Star, much appreciated

I think I need a short vacation to rest up after this week but it was fun having the girls here all week!
YB keeps talking about people he knows (from work) who are retiring soon & moving to Florida. He's welcome to go with them if he wants to - I'm staying put here where I can see the kids & grandkids. I swear he's just not quite right

I do have a lot of things to catch up on around the house & garden this weekend & the weather is nice.
Guess I'll just do my own thing

Hope you find some time to chill out Star. Staying calm & balanced is so important for all of us.

Papmom, maybe the dream of running a 5K is something we should have addressed in our 20's??
Please don't stress yourself - balance
Looking forward to sailing sounds like a great idea!

                                Hello to Dill & Cyn!
