MAE everyone. Well that was quite a snowfall PPQP. Of course there is no climate change! :H hope you are keeping warm and positive about the months ahead.

I am having a private pity party here :upset: because it's my birthday and my partner and daughter forgot -again. It would be funny if it it didn't hurt. But it's happened so often and I am sick of having to organise my own treats on this day. I can think of all the things I can be grateful for but this lack of acknowledgement on my birthday and on Mother's Day just makes me feel like I am bloody taken for granted. On top of that I have a pile of reports to write for work!

My partner will probably remember and come home with a bunch of flowers from the supermarket after work - and try to appease me. I will be pissed off and still have to cook dinner. It's just another day.
Sorry but I had to share my hurt. I used to drink on my birthday especially when he forgot but that's not an option now. I cant go out tonight because we have to collect daughter and friends from something they are doing for school - so transport is tied up.

Trying to see the funny side in this but nothing comes to mind yet! Hope you all have a great day though.

It's a hot summer day and Jake and Harry are in a ditch digging away. Meanwhile, Ralph is up under the shade of a tree sipping on a cool drink. Jake asks Harry, "Why are we down here digging in the hot Sun while Ralph is being cool up there?" Harry says, "I don't know, I'll go ask him". Harry goes up and asks Ralph, "Why are you up here in the shade drinking a cool drink and Jake and I are in the ditch digging in the hot sun?" Ralph says, "'cause I've got smarts". "What's that? Asks Harry. Ralph puts his hand in front of the tree and says, "Hit my hand as hard as you can". Harry swings his fist at Ralph?s hand, Ralph moves his hand and Harry hits the tree, hurting his hand. Ralph, says "I knew to pull my hand away, that?s called having smarts". Harry goes back in the ditch and Jake asks, "What did he say?" Ralph says, "Its cause he has smarts." "What's that? Asks Jake. Harry puts his hand in front of his face and says. "Hit my hand!"

Last week, we took some friends to a new restaurant, 'Steve's Place,' and noticed that the waiter who took our order carried a spoon in his shirt pocket. It seemed a little strange. When the busboy brought our water and utensils, I observed that he also had a spoon in his shirt pocket. Then I looked around and saw that all the staff had spoons in their pockets.
When the waiter came back to serve our soup I inquired, 'Why the spoon?' 'Well, 'he explained,'the restaurant's owner hired Andersen Consulting to revamp all of our processes. After several months of analysis, they concluded that the spoon was the most frequently dropped utensil. It represents a drop frequency of approximately 3 spoons per table per hour. If our personnel are better prepared, we can reduce the number of trips back to the kitchen and save 15 man-hours per shift.'
As luck would have it, I dropped my spoon and he replaced it with his spare. 'I'll get another spoon next time I go to the kitchen instead of making an extra trip to get it right now..'
I was impressed. I also noticed that there was a string hanging out of the waiter's fly. Looking around, I saw that all of the waiters had the same string hanging from their flies. So, before he walked off, I asked the waiter, 'Excuse me, but can you tell me why you have that string right there?' "Oh, certainly!'
Then he lowered his voice. 'Not everyone is so observant. That consulting firm I mentioned also learned that we can save time in the restroom. By tying this string to the tip of our you-know-what, we can pull it out without touching it and eliminate the need to wash our hands, shortening the time spent in the restroom by 76.39%.' I asked quietly, 'After you get it out, how do you put it back?' 'Well,' he whispered, 'I don't know about the others, but I use the spoon.'

Hey SL - I'm so busy in the head with work stuff that I almost started another thread thinking today was Friday!

So busy day at work,more driving,then counsellor appt and then sushi with some of roller derby team.I am going to gym before work tomorrow,need to burn off some stress hormones,today I am focusing on deep breathing as that is fuelling my anxiety and also using CBT to challenge my negative thinking when it pops up.

Glad I'm sober - day 13 and I don't drink - have a happy Thursday everyone,looking forward to lazy but busy weekend sorting house out.

Listened to the president's speech last night outlining his plan to disable the current terror threat in the Middle East. There seems to be no end to this stuff.

Mick...thanks for the brew, much appreciated this morning. Could be interesting driving to work this morning as I live in an older neighborhood with huge Elm trees. It was funny watching people trying to avoid driving under the trees yesterday. Will survey garden damage later this morning but we did manage to get the above ground crops off before the onslaught of the storm. Blood results will be fine....there took the worry out of that.

Bear...glad the "new to you" car meets your expectation. Hope the heat issue is minor. Have a happy day 13 today.
