    Tuesday AF 7 October

Well here we are back in the land of MWO. I had problems logging back in and got exasperated – but managed to get things right. Good to see some old faces – Mick, Lav, Sam, Pie and SL. Lets hope we hear from the others soon. I betcha a few people have problems with the re-logging though.

I had a busy week last week but had a long weekend away – took some annual leave and headed off with the family to an isolated spot – no internet or cellphone coverage. It was snowing and very cold –but not as cold I bet as it will be for some folk here. Anyway very relaxing to have no internet. I did do some work (research) related reading and writing but guess what – I even read a whole novel!!! Its school holidays at the moment – school restarts next week. We did some walks – didn’t argue – and had a nice meal at a country pub.

So I will wait to see how everyone is and just get today’s show on the road.

A young Air Force 2nd Lieutenant had just arrived at Misawa AFB in Japan.

He'd been given a beautiful renovated office and had it furnished with antiques.

Sitting there, he saw an enlisted man come into his outer office.

Wishing to appear the hot shot, the officer picked up the phone and started to pretend he was exchanging chit chat with the Base Commander.

He threw Colonel's and General's names around and talked about letting them stay in his Daddy's condo in Hawaii, and then set up a golfing date between him, the Base Commander, and the CO's of the Naval Security Group and Naval Air Facility.

Finally he hung up and asked the Sergeant, "Can I help you sergeant?"

The TSGT said, "Yes sir, I'm here to activate your phone lines."

A woman walks into a convenience store. She walks straight to the manager and asks, “Do you have any small notebooks?”

“Sorry,” says the manager. “We’re all out.”

The woman shrugs, and asks, “Well, do you have any mechanical pencils?”

“Nope, don’t have that either,” says the manager.

The woman feels her stomach rumbling and asks, “Do you have Doritos? Nachos?”

    The manager shrugs, “Sorry.”

“Hmmph. How about Chapstick?” says the woman.

    “Nope. Don’t have that.”

“My God!” the woman shouts, “If you don’t have anything, you should close the damn store!”

The manager shrugs, “Don’t have the key.”

A woman at the grocery store went to the register with these items in her cart:
    a carton of eggs
    a quart of orange juice
    a head of romaine lettuce
a 2 lb. can of coffee
a 1 lb. package of bacon.
As she was unloading her items on the conveyor belt to check out, a drunk standing behind her watched as she placed the items in front of the cashier.
While the cashier was ringing up her purchases, the drunk calmly stated, "You must be single."
The woman was a bit startled by this proclamation, but she was intrigued by the derelict's intuition, since she was indeed single.
She looked at her five items on the belt and saw nothing particularly unusual about her selections that could have tipped off the drunk to her marital status.
Curiosity getting the better of her, she said "Well, you know what, you're absolutely correct. But how on earth did you know that?"
The drunk replied, "Cause you're ugly as shit".

    Two women were sitting quietly.

A Mississippi Girl is flying on an airplane for the first time when.
...a smartly-dressed older woman sits down and arranges herself in the seat next to the girl.
"So, where y'all from?" the girl asks cheerfully.
The woman slowly takes out a handkerchief, dabs at her forehead and the corners of her mouth, and clears her throat before answering...
"Well... I'M from a place where we don't end our sentences with prepositions...!"
The girl slips a peanut into her mouth and nibbles on it awhile, contemplating... Finally, she tries again...
"So, where y'all from then bitch!!!!

      MAE ALL....

TT...thanks for kicking us off and yup I was one of the re-logging problem people. Give me a crashed network and I'll get the computers talking to each other again, but give me step by step instructions to reset my password and I'll screw it up. After waiting for my 3rd 15 minute break I gave up and went to bed. The old saying "get a good night's sleep and everything will be better in the morning" is true. See here I am.

Mick...thanks for having my back with a brew waiting. Wheat weaving project happened yesterday and the children were thrilled. Everyone has new Thanksgiving center pieces now. Will get a pic from the person taking the pictures and post it for you soon. Today is the Banff trip and I'm going for the fun of it. Not responsible for anything as that's the new program coordinators job. Too bad you're off to Manchester today, I saved you a seat.

We're enjoying some nice fall weather with no snow in sight. It'll be here soon enough so am taking advantage and spending time outdoors.
Will check in again tonight so in the meantime have a Terrific AF Tuesday all and all to come.....PPQP

.....next MWO mission - restore all the smilees!

        Good Tuesday morning Abbers

8 am here & still waiting for the sun, oh well! I have coffee so I'll be OK!

Thanks for the start up TT aka Muriel
The password reset wasn't as clear as it could have been but we're all here now. Glad you had a chance to get away & chill a bit.

Morning Mick! Sounds like you have some heavy traffic to deal with today - good luck!

Hi there PQ! We've had some nice Fall weather here too. Hope you enjoy your field trip!

I have lots of work going on so I'll be in my shop most of the day. I will sneak outside once in a while for some fresh air so all is good. I resumed my M-W-F trips to Curves last week & got the full workouts in so I am happy.

Greetings to everyone. Have a great AF Tuesday one & all.

          morning all
thought I'd try posting a pic I took of a Monarch about to fly off. Glad to see all poppin in. Fall definitely here. Fence project finally done so now I can get re-imbursed from the grand state of Va. Hauling hay from a field across a major road back to the farm. Hate crossing that road with a tractor and wagon.

          Be well everyone!

            Hey Sam,
I think I know how you feel -
Yesterday I was on the road behind the guy on a tractor pulling a huge wagon full of hay & cornfield bits (whatever you call them). It took a long, long time to travel the 3 or so hilly, curvy miles to his drop off destination at the dairy farm. No way to pass that safely

Great pic Sam....hauling hay was not fun for me either but my pickup and drop sites were at least easy to get to. Hope your had a safe trip.

Lav...hope your day was productive. Off to curves tomorrow are you?

Everyone home from Banff safe and sound so time to relax.

Pie...I read murder mysteries. Thought I saw you ask that question at one point.

Have a peaceful AF evening all and anyone else who stops in.....PPQP

                      Hi all.
TT - so glad you got your name back, I prefer TreeTops to Muriel
Hi Lav, Pie, Sam, PPQ and Mick.
Just logged into today and I see I have to go and update myself somehow!!!
Mick - still in the thick of it with the girl. Lots of appts and testing - it is wearing me out both physically and the stress I did want a drink to unwind last Friday, but it was just a yearning for the ability to switch off for a while - it would have turned into something else for sure and it was pretty easy to give up the thought.
Sam - love the photo of the Monarch - we live near a resting place that they visit on their trip (Pacific Grove) - I keep meaning to go back and watch the migration - hope I can make the time.

Muriel oops Treetops here! Hang on in there SL. I think Fridays are also a difficult day in general for many of us who have years of working hard and then drank on Fridays - as it was the night to wind down.
                        'Functioning alcoholics wind down time'.
Trouble is that for me it wasn't just Fridays - just about any other day as well ( night that is as I wasn't a daytime drinker). I still get a bit flat though on many Friday nights. Just have to live with it.

PS - I don't like the 'Like' feature of this new website. I think its a bit trite and unnecessary. Puts too many words on the screen too. Soon it will turn posts into a popularity contest because I certainly see that on FB. You mark my words!

                              So agree re likes TT!
And yep, Friday's are tough - it was the signal of work ending and weekend beginning - but really just an excuse as I often work at the weekend, and I drank everyday - but there was something about letting down that I just don't do anymore - have to find a new habit to say that's enough for the day/week and be able to switch off!
                              Hi SF!!
