"I have a dream that someday we will be able to get all the sicko's and unstable elements of society in one place, where their activity can be monitored twenty four seven. " Said the police commissioner at a rally when a voice piped up from the back,

"it's already been done mate, ever heard of Facebook? "

I called my mate and said, "I've got two hot girls coming over tomorrow, and all they want to do the whole day is be naughty and eat cakes. Do you fancy coming round?"

"F.cking right I do," he replied.

"Good," I said, "because I'm crap at baking."

When I die I want all the people I've ever worked with on group projects to lower me in the ground, just so they can let me down one last time

A Jehovah's Witness knocked on my door earlier so I let him in.
"Please have a seat." I said as I went to put the kettle on.
After about five minutes I returned with a nice cup of tea and said,
"Right mate,so what would you like to talk about?"
"I've havent got a clue," he replied, "I've never got this far."

A wealthy playboy met a beautiful young girl in an exclusive lounge. He took her to his lavish apartment where he soon discovered she was not a tramp, but was well groomed and apparently very intelligent.

Hoping to impress her, he began showing her his collection of expensive paintings, first editions by famous authors and offered her a glass of wine.

He asked whether she preferred Port or Sherry and she said,

“Oh, Sherry by all means. To me, it’s the nectar of the gods. Just looking at it in a crystal-clear decanter fills me with a glorious sense of anticipation. When the stopper is removed and the gorgeous liquid is poured into my glass, I inhale the enchanting aroma and I’m lifted on the wings of ecstasy. It seems as though I’m about to drink a magic potion and my whole being begins to glow. The sound of a thousand violins being softly played fills my ears and I’m transported into another world. Port, on the other hand, makes me fart.”

A man came home from work and found his three children outside, still in their pajamas, playing in the mud, with empty food boxes and 20 wrappers strewn all around the front yard.

The door of his wife’s car was open, and so the front door to the house and there was no sign of the dog. Proceeding into the entry, he found an even bigger mess. A lamp had been knocked over, and the throw rug was wadded against one wall.

In the front room the TV was loudly blaring a cartoon channel, and the family room was strewn with toys and various items of clothing.

In the kitchen, dishes filled the sink, break fast food was spilled on the counter, the fridge door was open wide, dog food was spilled on the floor a broken glass lay under the table, and a small pile of sand was spread by the back door.

He quickly headed up the stairs, stepping over toys and more piles of clothes, looking for his wife.. He was worried she might be ill, or that something serious had happened.

He was met with a small trickle of water as it made its way out the bathroom door.
As he peered inside he found wet towels, scummy soap and more toys thrown over the floor. Miles of toilet paper lay in a heap and tooth paste had been smeared over the mirror and walls.

As he rushed to the bedroom, he found his wife still curled up in the bed in her pajamas, reading a novel.

She looked up at him, smiled, and asked how his day went.

He looked at her bewildered and asked, ‘What happened here today?’
She again smiled and answered, ‘You know every day when you come home from work and you ask me what in the world I do all day?’
‘Yes, ‘ was his incredulous reply.

She answered, ‘Well, today I didn’t do it…’

A local United Way office realized that the organization had never received a donation from the town’s most successful lawyer. The person in charge of contributions called him to persuade him to contribute.

“Our research shows that out of a yearly income of at least $500,000, you give not a penny to charity. Wouldn’t you like to give back to the community in some way?”

The lawyer mulled this over for a moment and replied, “First, did your research also show that my mother is dying after a long illness, and has medical bills that are several times her annual income?”

Embarrassed, the United Way rep mumbled, “Um … no.”

The lawyer interrupts, “or that my brother, a disabled veteran, is blind and confined to a wheelchair?”

The stricken United Way rep began to stammer out an apology, but was interrupted again.

“or that my sister’s husband died in a traffic accident,” the lawyer’s voice rising in indignation, “leaving her penniless with three children?!”

The humiliated United Way rep, completely beaten, said simply, “I had no idea…”

On a roll, the lawyer cut him off once again, “So if I don’t give any money to them, why should I give any to you?”

Evening folkeroos - its evening here. 12 hours ahead - fingers on the pulse - and all that. Just chose the penguins cos I couldn't find the green parrots and I had to have an avatar. An easy cute one.
Watch the lack of sleep Mick. I didn't get enough last night and by c 5pm I was feeling shattered, tired and down. Been really busy and engaged with a lot of people today - but not in an exciting way. I barely managed to scrape the evening meal together - but I did - and also my partner and daughter were very supportive to me - at least with words and hugs. yeah, I suppose some of us could toddle away from MWO - and like Mick, there are those moments. I get sad when some people no longer post. I don't help out with the newbies as much as many others do - maybe cos in my real life job I have to do a lot of supportive work - and that can be draining. Anyway like I said the other day, for me, I do need a support group and MWO is my support group. I had a few stabs at AA (in the past) and to be honest just loathed it. It really felt like a punishment to me. I know AA helps lots of folk and thats great - but it sure didn't connect with me. And I did try a small support group (4-5 people) and that was not for me either. So you can have me for the long haul….fellow supporters…
Det - you sound down - so please be careful. Just reading a wee bit between the lines.
Have a great Monday (or at least survive Monday!!) everyone and its great isn't it that we still do have this form of support and friendship

      Good morning Abbers,

Thanks for the startup Mick! It's dark & damp here too - is it raining all over the world??
Just Curves & some work on my day plan for today. Dinner went fine last evening providing you don't mind eating with a 'raving lunatic'! That's my DIL's description of my youngest grandson. I think she may be right, LOL. I sure hope he moves thru this current phase quickly!!!!

TT, if MWO can put up with me for going on 6 years then there will be no problem keeping you in the fold
Glad to have you as part of our lovely group - stick around!

Greetings to everyone, I'll stop by later to see what's going on.
Have a wonderful AF Monday everyone!

        good morning everyone
such a dreary weather pattern here and sounds the same for you Lav.

thanks for the joke of the lawyer Mick, have a friend that I have to send that to. Yesterday got out the hoop bender I've had mothballed all summer and bent pipe for small greenhouse. Going try building a hog panel one as well. Rainy enough I might be confined to cleaning up my disaster, otherwise known as my shop.

TT, there are times that I get of wanting to take a break from MWO but then I wouldn't get my morning coffee! I haven't been here as long as many of you and yet I too have people I miss since they've stopped posting. Mostly, I hope they're doing ok. I used to be over in the nest trying to help more often and I'm not sure I stopped, sometimes maybe what I posted may have been irrelevant to situations at hand. I do find myself looking in daily. Lav, Byrdie, Available, and NoSugar, and others I can't recall, are quite good at being unfalteringly (is that a word?) on point.
AA did not work for me either. I found it depressing. I believe it is all of where you live and the spirit of the AA group that makes it what it is. Not into the born again thing, which was kind of the tone of the the local group here, but that is what works for some.

        be well friends,
        Sam

          Here there Sam,
The fog has moved in with a light rain & it's totally depressing looking out there. Who cares? I'm in my shop with about a billion watts of light bulbs shining brightly so I can see what the hell i'm doing, LOL
It hurts - real bad when I get a finger stuck under one of these 30 needles moving up & down about 700 times per minute OUCH!

I'm not real great at keeping up with teh newbies nest so much anymore. I handed my crown over to Byrdie & she's appointing new nest mums all the time

OK, I shall get back to work.

Saying hello - Thanks for the discussion - I did think of not signing back in, but I would miss you guys, so staying at it.
Signed my girl up for tutoring - going to break the bank, but she has serous issues and it seems you need pieces of paper to get anywhere now - so better help her to get them.
It appears she is very bright because they are surprised that she has got as far as she has with all the deficits she has Start of journey for us...
Not much else to say right now - got a lot to work out and a little bamboozled by it all (lots of long words to decipher) She did get 5 rosettes yesterday including best in show - other girl got 3 rosettes.
Not sleeping so will heed the warnings....

              Happy un-hung Monday ABeroooooos!!

Mick, thanks for the nice kickstart as always.

SL, so glad you are going to stick around and keep us company :sohappy: and kudos on your girls achievements.

SunFlower, always good to be home eh? hope you had a fun and inspirational yoga camp.

I see that lifering.org has F2F meetings and I'd like to check them out but sadly nothing nearby here. Hope to
catch one in my travels as they have a bunch in Cali.

Lav, tell me you didn't 'sew' yourself? that sounds just like something I'd do!

TTops, thank you for the check. I'm so glad to be feeling well and healthy today. My poor wife has been sick for 2+ weeks now. ick! but she's about 90% better
too and of course with me being AF we are tight and strong which just can't be beat. my outlook on life is more positive than it has been in quite some time. Not
much functionally has changed except my interpretation of my environment. I've had to work at it, but I'm 'catastrophizing' much less these days and finding joys
              in my 'now moments'.

lovely whole roasting chicken in the oven and the aroma is driving me bonkers!

              where's Pauly and Bear?

              be well loves
