    Hi there Pauly

Dill, my son & his wife do odd things, what can I say? LOL
They only live 8 miles away Papmom so dropping in just sort of happens sometimes

Turns out my DIL has been overly excited about appearing on a Philly news show this morning to talk about her work in Adoption rights. She was on at 8:15 this morning which means they were up & out real early this morning.
She's worked hard as an activist, published a book of essays & speaks to groups on the topic.
We are all very proud of her & her work. I still would like a little gratitude for all the childcare I have provided & meals cooked & served while she has been busy pursuing her interests - that's all.

Papmom, you definitely should get the tires replaced asap! Could your Dad float you a loan for the tires? You don't want to spend the winter driving on bad tires & you don't want to spend all your $$ at the launder mat either.

Sitting by the fire being lazy this evening - nice!

      Happy Belated Thanksgiving
I tried to post from my phone, but was unable to. Sounds like Lav, Dill and Pap had awesome holidays. Good. So did I. We had such a great time with our family together and enjoyed the baby, who is very social and happy. It was wonderful. The weather down here continues to be cold but pretty snow free and I am all for that. I stayed an extra night and arrived home yesterday about noon. Then swimming and shopping with my son. No Black Friday stuff, just went to this mall that was not crowded, about 4:00. Bought him a suit for an internship he is starting next year. Whew, then out for pizza. I left important stuff at my daughter's house, really annoying, but have to wait till next week to get it. All in all the best time in a long time. Very, very thankful and grateful.

Lav, I noticed that when you said no, all of a sudden you were "no,"ticed. Your DIL sounds complicated, intelligent, wanting it all,and needing to appreciate all you do. Family relationships take a lot of work and give and take, at least in our family. Your meal sounded delicious, I love turkey. No leftovers here, but we are having it again next weekend, so I will have my fill.

Dill, what a wonderful day for you, and how great that your son recognized all you and your husband have done and continue to do. It is just nice to be appreciated and validated. I have to look into the audio thing and talk to my Dad. I was appalled by a clip on TV, showing people pushing and shoving each other at Walmart for a 50 in TV. I don't want to buy into that, at all. I know that the last few years my good friend and I went at midnight and such, but it was more for the fun of it. I couldn't buy anything or really be coherent as I was wired that late at night. I talked to some clerks at Kohl's and they were exhausted and doing their best. What a crazy world we live in.

Pap, what a great day for you, you have such a loving family. How generous you are to make such nice quilts for your friends. They are really great gifts that last a lifetime. My daughter received one from a friend for the baby, and it is reallly beautiful. I love it. Tires or washer, what a dilemma. Both are really important.

Busy day again today, playing catchup with household duties. Have a great day.

        Good morning friends!

It's a frosty 19 degrees at the moment - Brrrr!!!
Grateful for a warm house & plenty of firewood on standby.

Glad to hear you had such a nice holiday Star
Holidays are always extra special when there's a new baby around! AF holidays rock!!!!
Star, you are right about my DIL, she wants it all & that's fine but she needs to develop a more mature attitude IMHO. Realizing how your actions affect those around you is important!

Why is there a commercial on TV for wine & spirits at 7:40 am? I just want to see some news - how annoying??

Greetings to Dill, Papmom & Cyn! I hope everyone is OK & has a wonderful AF Saturday!

Hi all - so sorry for the delay in posting, this has been a craaaazy time. I was in NYC Tuesday, trained back late, so I didn't get a chance to get basic T-giving supplies. We knew we were going to get snow, but it was not supposed to start until noon-ish, so I set out to go get the organic fresh turkey from a farm a ways a way, and pick up a few last things for dinner. Well, by the time i got to the farm there was 2 inches of snow, and it just kept coming. Mind you, i have a FWD wagon without snow tires, and we live at the top of a 1.5 mile, windy, narrow, steep road. When I managed to get up the hill (now 5 inches of snow), veering to avoid an out-of-control jeep on the way, I put the car in the garage and said 'that's it'. Boy dog has an infection, and I was supposed to take him to an 11:00 appt, but called and cancelled.

HB was driving up from NJ, so I was relieved when he got in. Called SD and told her not to come until Thursday. Then, getting close to 12 inches of snow, the power went out. And stayed out through much of Thursday. What a weird thing! I am used to power outages, I was prepared, had all the candles ready, lanterns, fire wood, filled the tub (all the while my HB was saying 'aren't you being a little dramatic?' - he's never been through an outage. Well, an hour into it, I thought he was going to lose his mind. (He's not the most patient person in the world). Honestly, it would have been easier by myself! He had forgotten his Ipad in NY, so he had nothing to do, couldn't figure out how to read in the dark, etc. (I was kind of piggish, I kept my miner's headlamp to myself so I could continue to knit HIS sweater for Xmas!)

Anyway, it was really uncomfortable on a lot of levels. Just as I was reading a grilling book on how to 'grill-roast' the turkey, the power came on. We told SD it was safe to come, got the turkey in, I whirled around the kitchen like a crazy person, and we finally had our meal very late, with a fire blazing. Talk about being grateful - that was a great reminder of the basics.

So glad to read of everyone's experiences. Lav - I loved the DIL story - way to go! Things are getting better ba

            X-post Lav!

I am getting annoyed that by the time I've finished my post, I have been logged out by the system, and have to log back in, it doesn't take me back to this page, i have to re-open a new page to post. This has happened a few times this last week. Grrrr - but thank heavens for the auto-save and restore functions!

Anyway, have a great day all!

              Good morning...

Cyn, what a blizzardy Thanksgiving day. It will be one you will remember. Wow. My husband is a big baby too when the power goes out. No TV and he does not know what to do with himself. But, you made it work. Good for you. It does sound cozy, too. However, it was in the 50s here yesterday and we went with friends to dinner then walked around in comfort watching the Christmas lights.

              Now, onward to Christmas duties.

Lav, glad to hear you are enjoying your fire blazing and the warmth.

Dill, hope you are able to relax.

Pap, did you get hit with the weather too?

              Have a great day.

LOL Papmom! That turkey coma pic was so funny! You are so lucky to have such a loving family. I agree with Lav, you should get the washer and talk to your dad about floating you a loan for the tires. There's no good Dad in the world that would let his daughter drive on bad tires! Hopefully you will get that job close to your home and you won't have to worry about driving to work on iffy tires!

Cyn, I loved your Thanksgiving story. Especially the part about using a miner's light to keep on knitting! Grateful for electricity this year, eh?!! I too have a problem with getting logged off before I am done posting. I have found that if I click on the Go Advanced button instead of the Submit button, it works better. It takes me to a page that says I need to log in to complete the process. I re-enter my log in info right there and then it takes me to the preview page and all that I have typed is there! Then I hit the submit button. Ever since we talked about sunrises and sunsets it has been cloudy most of the time! But yesterday, there was a fantastic sunrise. I'll try to put the pic in this post.IMG_0162.jpg

Star, your Thanksgiving sounds like it was really, really nice. All about family. I am not one to get caught up in the Thanksgiving shopping frenzy either. I did go once or twice in years past just for the experience, but like you, I can't shop in that atmosphere.

Lav, I wish they didn't advertise wine and spirits on TV and billboards. It seems to me they didn't used to, that there were laws against it. I guess alcohol purveyors lobbied to make that change.
                Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                  Good Sunday morning friends

                  Sunny 36 degrees, no complaints!

Cyn, Wow, you win the prize for the most exciting Thanksgiving story, LOL!!!
You handled that power failure like a real champ - good for you! Have you thought about investing in a generator? We did because the power failures can go on for days around here, ugh. Glad you got thru it OK

Star, your warmish weather is on the way here, thanks! Glad you were able to get out & about for a bit of fresh air!

Dill, that's a beautiful sunset! I love that we are able to witness things like that with clear eyes!

Papmom, teenagers know how to relax, huh? LOL
                  Glad you enjoyed your holiday!

Not sure what I'm doing yet today - we shall see. Wishing everyone a nice AF Sunday!
