Wow, Pap and Cyn, lots of weather news. Sounds like a blizzard to me! If you know ahead of time, have food and warmth, it can be cozy to stay home. Last year we had so many, it was crazy. Just cold here and rain, turning to ice. I will start up my car early and leave early too. Hate to be late.

Dill, isn't it odd when people have their houses so hot? I keep mine pretty cool, so I can breathe. Your granddaughter sounds so cute. Sweet of you to take her to the party. I remember my son bouncing off walls after parties and sugar intake! Take care of yourself today.

Lav, I am jealous that your daughter and family got to move in this weekend. I am taking it easy, it is what it is. We drove over yesterday, settled some of the kitchen and pantry. It made me feel better, I was really comfortable there and look forward to moving later in the week. Sounds fun with two of your grandkids, you can handle anything AF!!!

    Have a good one.

      Good morning friends!

Well, the snow started around dawn so we shall see what accumulates!
Granddaughter was up between 3 & 3:30 this morning for no apparent reason - oh well. She's up again & happy now!
Guess I'm missing Curves this week due to multiple reasons, ha ha.

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF day!
Be care out there in the snow, ice, rain or whatever is happening!!!

Hi Lav, hmmm...up at 3:00 for no apparent reason? Better double up on the pnut butter next time! How did you get her back to sleep? At least she wasn't crying and saying her leg hurt like my lil' gdaughter!

Star, I keep the house at 65 during the day and down to 58 at night. I would like to have the thermostat at 70, truth be told, but it's just too expensive to heat this old brick farmhouse. Yeah, I traded comfort for 'character'! LOL!

Papmom, Cyn, it sounds like you are ready for the blizzard of 2015! Hope you don't lose power. I'll be thinking of you.

I slept like a rock last night, making up for the over-night with gd the night before. It felt SOOO good.

        Have a peaceful AF evening.

Funny-I was up at 3 as well and never got back to sleep! That hasn't happened for a looooonnnnnggggg time. Maybe I was inwardly stressing about the storm? Work closed at 4 today and is cancelled for tomorrow. Bets are on we won't be back to work until Thursday. I think I'm ready. The snow started in southern CT this morning and hit us around 4:30 (but it was very light-hardly noticeable). Cyn, you must have some good accumulation by now? I haven't looked outside since I let the dogs out at 4:15. I'm as ready as I can be without prebooking a hotel room. A couple of agility friends have done that but my question is, by the time power goes out, the travel ban will be in effect and it will be impossible to to get to the hotel. And what if the hotel power/heat goes out? I'd rather hunker down in my own home thanks. I'll pile the comforters and quilts on the bed, open the faucets and we'll be fine. I hope. I bought some sterno but didn't have anything to put it under like a fondue pot. So, at walmart, in the party section, they had these mini spring form pans. I took the bottoms out and should be able to rest a small pot on top that I can heat water in should the power go out. I put the whole contraption on top of my stove so everything will be safe. I wonder what happened to my mom's fondue pot? I think I ask myself that every blizzard LOL!!

Lav-how's the storm down by you? Are the kids pretty moved in by now?

Star-yay- you got the kitchen and pantry settled!! Im telling you, Friday will be here in a blink of an eye!! Glad your weather is manageable and not extreme or "epic"!

Dill-Please send Mr. Sandman my way!! Last nite was no fun at all!

Cyn-check in when you can so we know you are OK. You want my cell # so you can text me if you can't get on the computer?

I'm really hoping that with all the trees down, we won't lose power at all or if we do, only for a short time. Fingers crossed!!

            Hi all -

Wild day getting all computer work done (just in case), and running around getting a few extra supplies. I thought we were all ready yesterday, but I thought of a few more things.

The bathtub is full, I've cooked ahead. We'll see!

Take care Pap, good luck and hope you have happy snuggling with the pups.

I'll check in as soon as possible - cross fingers, tomorrow AM...

            Take care all --

              Good morning...

Cyn, Pap, and Lav, keep safe and warm. Hope the storm is short-lived! If the power stays on, it will be cozy. If not, it will be way more difficult.

Pap, thanks for the positive feedback about the move. I am up at around 4 am, with lots of anticipation to move. Plus, when I get home and get comfortable, I am out, so going to sleep to early. Have to love winter. Since you are home today, you can nap if you have to, with your doggies for company!

Cyn, hope you are reading something good, now is the time to do something for yourself!

Lav, don't know how bad it is in your area. Here, a dusting of snow. I am getting used to this!

Dill, nothing like a great night's sleep.

              All, take care.

                Good morning friends,

Happy to report the storm fizzled out around here, yay! Only an inch or so of snow on the ground.
I think my granddaughter may be able to go home today, it's time

Star, glad you are out of the snow area as well. Definitely a major nuisance when you have important things to do like moving!!!

Cyn & Papmom, I know you two are in the heavy snow areas. I hope everything is toasty & warm for you guys today!

Dill, I'm still thinking about that oddball birthday party you attended the other day! I guess you'll remember it for some time to come as well. We have a woodstove on the lower level of the house to help with heating. I don't like using it myself, makes me nervous. As long as YB is here, he can handle the thing. The fireplace in the living room I can handle on my own. Our heating system uses propane which is usually cheaper than oil. Looking forward to the end of the winter on many levels

Wishing everyone a good AF Tuesday!
I have leftover Italian style pasta & bean soup from yesterday, warms you right up!!!!

Morning all! We are good here - power is (obviously) on. Here in the NW corner we seem to have dodged the bullet; the center of the storm slipped east. We will still get 12 - 14 inches, but that doesn't seem bad when you're expecting 30. But since all the big power plants are east of us, just where the storm went, I'm not draining the bathtub yet...Pap, how did you fare? You are further east than I am, I think. Hope you and the doggies are OK ---

I'm really tired today, from getting a week's worth of tasks done in the last 2 days. But - lots of food is cooked, the house is cleaned, the laundry is done, so I guess that's not all bad! I made a dynamite beef stew in the crock pot yesterday. I'll post the recipe - it was from a friend on FB. We don't eat beef very often, but this stew meat is from an organic farm close to us here, so I feel OK about having some occasionally.

Star - you're on the home stretch! I think that when you get the kitchen, bath and bedroom settled, you're 9/10ths moved in. Pap is right - Friday will be here before you know it. Hope you were OK yesterday on the ice - I'd prefer a foot of snow to any ice, I'm an ice-wimp!

Dill - we have constant debates about temperature here in this house. Though it's a 1965 split-level, there's lots of windows and doors, and it can be really drafty. It's hard to figure out how to set the thermostat; 66 is fine during the day, but once the sun goes down it's too cold, but raising in the evening makes for a hot night. Oh well! I'm just incredibly grateful that we have heat today - I don't think the house would stay very warm today if we had lost power - 17 degrees and blowing like crazy. Hope you are recovering from no sleep and GKs.

Lav - you have the magical revolving door there with GKs! How great of you to help with the gkids while your kids move in - that would be a challenge for them otherwise. Hope they are happy with the house. Raise your egg rates - farm eggs here are $6 a dozen!

Good news; septic seems to have self-healed for the moment. It will take some time and experimentation to see if it's the tank float, or ice in the pipes, or what. But for now, I'm doing laundry!!

Take care all - will check in later with hopefully good news about the power staying on ----

Hello All, I just must have made a rookie mistake because I know I spent a good 20 minutes posting earlier in the day with comments to each of you, but it's not here! I thought back about it and realized that I clicked the preview post button before sending, but then I must not have clicked the submit button. I don't know if I can recall what all I wrote because it was a lot. I think from now on I am going to do my messages in Word, then copy and paste. I am feeling just a little frustrated about the whole thing at the moment so please forgive me not trying to re-create my post.

Cyn, Lav, and Papmom, I'll just say, I am glad the storm didn't go as badly as predicted and that everyone cane thru ok.

Star, Friday will be here before you know it. Will you have your internet all set up when you move in or will you be absent for a day or so?

Sunny here, just very cold. I'll take it. It is January after all!

                    Have a peaceful AF evening.

                      SIX DOLLARS Cyn ~ really??
I sure do need to raise egg prices, geez!!!!
Glad you are OK in the snowstorm.

I saw Papmom's snow pics on FB. She's in the area getting 30+ inches of snow, yuck. She's happy to have today AND tomorrow off though, ha ha!

Dill, I have lost a post or two lately myself, it is frustrating.
Nothing wrong with using a word doc & pasting here.

I decided my granddaughter had to go home today, Five days & four nights here is enough. Yes, I am tired. I also haven't been able to get to Curves & that makes me grumpy. I enjoy the adult conversation for 30 minutes, trust me! So I drove her home for a happy reunion with her parents.

Star, I hope you have nice (dry, non-snow) weather for your move. It's such a hassle to do all that in bad weather. Enjoy the process as much as possible

Hope to actually sleep thru the night, ah!!!!

                        Good morning,

Cyn, so good to hear that you have about a foot of snow, not three feet! Wow! Just glad it is not me after last year. It is so satisfying to have a day at home and get things done, and create a delicious meal. Good for you, productive even through the blizzard! Thanks for reminding me I am in the home stretch, we boxed a huge painting last night, and I hope to put a few things in my car and stop by the house after work. I am THAT excited!!! I also seem to have so much storage room within bathroom, bedrooms and kitchen. Looking forward to settling in and having room again!!!!!

Lav, you are a saint. Have your daughter and family settled in? Sounds like their house is in repair mode, and living there at the same time would be an adventure. Enjoy your day and Curves, plus maybe a little nap? Thanks for the kind wishes regarding the move.

Dill, how frustrating to lose a good post. I really work hard on some of mine, wanting to say what I mean. This is a good way to start the day. Weather here is not bad either. Just cold and I can deal with that in January. Thanks for the moving support.

Hey Pap, nothing like looking on the bright side. Days off!!! Have a good one.

Star, another few days & you're in your new house, of course you're excited!!!
I remember the last trip I made from my old house to this one. My car was packed with the last few boxes & my 12 year old Golden. I talked to him for the entire hour drive because he was so old & confused, ha ha.

Back to my usual routine today, I am happy.
Have a great AF Wednesday Dill, Cyn, Papmom & Star!

Lav, all I can say is, “Wow!” Five days and four nights?! Kudos to you! At this point I seem to have a 24 hour limit for the 3 year old even tho I love her to death. I just wear out. I could keep the 9 year old longer I’m sure. I have a friend who tells me she is completely rearranging her schedule for the month of Feb. so that she can go stay with her daughter’s children for a week while her daughter and hb are out of town. Then the next two weeks she stays at her son’s with his children for 2 weeks while he and his wife secure their new home in a different state because he got a new job and has to relocate. That’s 3 weeks with children 1 to 10 years of age! She is a saint! LOL!

Cyn, our house is actually a smorgasbord of temperatures. This old house is built of brick on a stone foundation. It was completed in 1870. Between the plaster walls and the brick is stone. Not a good insulator! We have the wood stove going in one room which keeps that room toasty and spills over into adjacent rooms. I set the thermostat at 65 in the adjacent room so that room. We close off the front hall and upstairs rooms so they get quite cold. Probably in the 50’s. When the gkids are here we have to heat those rooms because that’s where they sleep. I’m glad you didn’t lose power during that storm and that you have the septic working. Long may it continue!

Papmom, It sounds like you got the brunt of the storm. I hope you and the boys are ok. I hope to see pics when you have time.

Star, I know what you mean about working on the posts and taking care to say what you mean. It's sometimes hard to do in the written format and I often worry that I may inadvertently upset or offend someone. That's the last thing I would want to do on this supportive little thread!

Sunny here but below zero at the moment. I’m looking forward to getting out later and doing a little shopping at an enclosed mall. Hope everyone enjoys a peaceful AF Hump Day.

                              Hello all -

Dill, I have nearly made that mistake many times! I hear you - frustrating. Thanks to you and everyone for taking time to craft thoughtful posts, it really makes a difference in my life.

Lav - 6 is the highest I've seen, but I love these farmers, so I pay it. Besides this is CT, where food prices are out of site - must be the high gas tax. But all of the farm ones are in the area of 4 - 5, so raise your prices, girl! Gotta pay for that fancy netting to keep them safe. RE: gkids, whew, that is A LOT. You deserve some granny naps.

Star - almost there! Glad the weather is co-operating so far...

Pap - I should have known that you would get the brunt of the storm, since is slid east instead of hitting us. Glad to know you are on FB - I'm assuming that means you've got power. Good luck with all that snow - sheesh. The 14 inches here seems like 2 feet, I can't imagine 30 inches...

Very sad here today, we had the news early this morning that our friend, that has been battling in the ICU, has died. Her lungs simply were too compromised to even handle to ventilators or respirators anymore. She was a vivacious, life-loving person, with a generosity and people-drive that changed the energy in any room, and made us all want to be better people. Thank goodness she left us with that legacy.
Hug your loved ones, appreciate your friends a little extra today...

Snowbound Papmom here! We're all good. We definitely got 34 inches, I'm thinking my neighborhood hit 3 feet. The only shoveling I did was for the pups-very small areas on the deck and at the foot of the stairs. Everything else was taken care of by the neighbors. I'm very blessed! Oh, I did clean up the drive just a bit tonite and raked the roof. Of course I had to shovel the snow that came off the roof so I guess I did my fair share!! We never lost power and for that I am grateful. I turned the heat up to 75 for most of yesterday just in case. The wind was howling so bad and the drifts were amazing!! I suppose I could have been more productive these past 2 days than I was. Oh well. I definitely did better today-hemmed 2 pairs of pants, finished my friends baby quilt, delivered it to her this afternoon and picked up some more meds for Mick at Tufts (my friend's house is on the way). Also did some laundry and dishes. Tomorrow's walk to work will be cold but not too hard. My street isn't all that well plowed but once I get onto the campus i"ll be in the clear. I drove by this afternoon and they have done a bang up job of clearing the lots and walks.

Cyn-I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's passing. Very sad indeed. Sounds like she left you with some wonderful memories. :heartbeat: Glad you guys didn't bear the brunt of this storm. my brother in Amherst said they didn't even get a foot.
Dill-my house is the same way and its probably a fraction of the size of yours! LR/DR always feel 10 degrees warmer than the bedrooms in the back of the house.
Lav-oh my goodness! 4 nites of GK? You are a saint!! Glad you finally got some sleep!
Star-2 more days!!!!! So excited for you!!

OK, here are the pics of Blizzard of 2015. This is nothing compared to what an agility friend who lives on Nantucket endured: 72 mph winds, widespread flooding/damage and the whole island lost power for 48 hours. they just got it back on about 30min ago.
