    Saturday AF 10 January

Saturday so MAE again everyone – how are we all? A nice change of pace on Friday’s thread with the hairy interchange – as well as that about tiles. I tend to avoid tiles as an option if I can as I once owned a house that was a nightmare of bad tiling and grouting. So we have a glass splashback in our kitchen – a lovely shade of teal blue.

Which I saw a lot of tonight as I cooked two very nice vegetarian curries – and hardly used any oil and did not add any cream or coconut cream. On the other hand I did make fresh cherry ice-cream – so have kept things balanced – haha.:congratulatory:

Sorry about your fence Sam – that will be expensive as you say – and a big task.

PPQP – don’t work too hard over the weekend – remember you have to solve Mick’s secret jaunts. I have tried but clearly I am not thinking outside the ‘square’. Lets be imaginative here!:eek-new:

Mick – are the worst of the winds over yet? Yes, really awful what has happened in Paris – and more horror today.

Det – you take care with your Vegas trip. Make sure you get some downtime to do something you like. Its a whole week so if things get dicey maybe you should check out an AA meeting – as you seem to be OK with that.

Hi there everyone else – Pauly, Narilly, Pie, Lav, SL. I see that Patrice is back on MWO so that's great (especially as she is a fellow Kiwi).

Ok – have a great weekend and catch you all later.

    Hi all,
Yes Tree, are we the only kiwis here?
I'm back, followed a pretty familiar trajectory so won't bore you all with details ( I' posted it on the Loamers ). If it's ok I'd like to post here and on the Loamers ...?
It's day 3 and I know it well... Grumpy, irritated and drinking water. Plus sweating but could that be because it's 40 degrees here, it's so gross but my skin looks very Dewey haha.. I think the one benefit of living in the tropics is the fact that your skin always looks like it has a glimmering sheen on it 24/7!. Oh, I do mean centigrade

Can I just mention hair? I got mine cut n colored yesterday. I kinda wanted it shorter than before and a bit more layered. Lately I've been feeling like I have a shag pile carpet on my head and neck. I still wanted to be able to tie it up but alas I cant. Looked great yesterday but woke up this morning and it's so frizzy cos of the layers.. It now looks like a bouffant .. Oh how to tame the frizzy? Can't use a blower, I'd die! Aragan oil?

Hope you are all having a great Saturday, I'm off to cook a roast chicken, roast spuds the works!
I'm so determined this time round, learnt lots, got a plan , and hooked back up with my only support network. This site and in particular you guys...I really want to thank TT for her special non judgemental support.
    Xx

My wife keeps complaining that all the food I make for her is Frozen.

      I said, "Let it go."

The other day I asked my hairdresser if I could have highlights, and he showed me a video of past haircuts.

I was driving to work today and saw a woman driving down the road with her hazard lights on.

      At least she's honest.

...and God, in his infinite wisdom, commanded Noah to take two of every creature onto the Ark...
      Even woodworms.
      Brilliant plan.

As I walked out of the front door with my bags last night, I looked back at my wife and said, "Are you sure about this? It doesn't feel right."

"Yes, I'm sure," she replied. "You're a lazy pig and it's about time."

"What about the kids?" I asked.

"They're busy watching TV," she said. "Now just be a man, for once, and put the rubbish out."

My English teacher told me that it's impossible to take two completely different words out of context and use them to create a coherent sentence.

        morning all
A quick dash in and out, going 'veying this morning. don't know what was going on, got to sleep last by 9. Must be all that fresh air. Hopefully get to patching the fence I fixed last summer. More tree damage.

Morning Mick, how's the world treating you so far today? Hope you're having a fun filled weekend. Yep, fence should last a bit till the next wind comes and takes down some more. I notice yesterday that a large oak was dead near the place I was repairing. Can't tell which way it will fall and it is to rotten at the top for me to take it down without it breaking apart.... so, wait for mama nature. Know I've said it before, but I have enjoyed seeing the progress of your kitchen project. You do the tile as well? Something I've never tried.

Morning TT and Patrice, though it may Sunday morning for you all. Ah, the hair thang, my 2 cents is/are get my haircut twice, whether I need it or not.

Well off and atom. Be well good friends.
        Sam

          Good morning Abbers!

Sunny & 10 degrees at the moment
Not an outside day for me. Not even for my chicken chickens, LOL

Thanks for the start up TT!
We did that tile job in the kitchen shortly after moving in here. There was a lot of finishing work to be done so we just tackled it ourselves. That sheep tile just makes me happy when I look at it - I never feel like I'm alone, Ha Ha!!

Patrice, glad to have you back! Stick around with us, we are serious about abstaining because we finally learned our lesson, the hard way

Mick, your weather sounds nasty! Stay inside, I'm sure you can find something to do to keep you out of trouble!!!

Sam, the wind gusts this week have been insane. They must be coming from Mick's side of the ocean!
No wonder trees, fences & power lines are falling all around us. Stay safe & warm.

I have to go feed my dogs - tired of being stared at!
Have a great AF Saturday everyone!

            MAE ALL....

TT...thanks for kicking us off today. Pie and I are determined to get to the bottom of Mick's Mystery jaunts.

Patrice...welcome back and congrats on day 3. I hated both my day 3's. LOL Your description on drinking water and sweating sure brought back memories. Thank you for that, it's good to remember what it was like so I don't get too complacent.

Mick...I'd love to see you in a bowler hat! Got any hanging around for a pic? LOL Son still struggling but things are better than they were. Down to see my Dad today but weather not warm enough to take him outside.

Sam...9 is my normal bedtime, mind you I'm a very early riser.

Lav...morning to you. Any plans after you feed the dogs or is it just a see what the day brings? Enjoy whatever you get up to.

Tummy is growling so must got attend to that. Have a Super AF Saturday all and all to come........:smile:PPQP

Wow, busy here already! Mick, I loved the hilights joke, haha, it made me laugh this morning. I still love Doc Martin boots btw.

Pat, I can hardly imagine 40C weather right now, here it's -9. Glad you are going to stick around here.

TT, Teale blue tiles sound beautiful.

Ya, Lav, my dog has to be fed too. She is laying beside me in bed right now, she jumps up here in the am. My dog is more of a rug than a dog, really, theis dog is the laziest dog I have ever met.
I take her for a 'drag' around the block because she doesn't really want to walk, especially when it's cold outside.

                Hi ya Sam!

                Have a grea sober day.

Meant to say Lav that I loved your special tile - looks like you did a great job with your tiles.
Yes its Sunday here already. Still warm but not really hot.
Patrice - 40 degrees would make anyone sweat - thats very hot. Do you have Air Conditioning? And it will be a humid heat where you are - not dry.
Mick - iI sure remember Clockwork Orange. I wasn't inspired to copy it though - it made me and my friends even more anti-violent. We were also very much into long hair. My punkish phase came later (I wasnt really a punk just went for the short hair and short skirts) for a while but that went away for me during the 1980s. I never had Doc Martins but my daughter has 2 pairs.
OK - off to do something like make breakfast now!

Happy Saturday/Sunday everyone! Just taking a break for lunch. Baseboards done except for fixing a few spots I messed up. Boiling water in purple teapot to make a bowl of Thai Tom Yum Soup, with a little fresh lime squeezed on top.

Sorry about jinxing your electricity, Mick! TT, will you be posting a pick of your glass backsplash?

Hey Patrice! Look forward to enjoying your company here. Hi Sam, Lav, Pauly, Narilly.

PQ, How shall we begin to unravel Mick's mystery? Has he offered up any clues thus far?

Pie....I think we've eliminated mistress, stealing/planting garden gnomes, war reenactments and a couple of others I don't remember. The only clue he's ever given up is "Lincoln" but haven't figured that out yet.

                      Hi...Pauly, Narilly and TT.

I had thought about war enactments at one stage too - but Mick seems to do this in all weathers and I don't think others would be so keen. I have also thought about antiques, second-hand dealing, markets (but this wouldn't really explain the Sunday timing), animal rescue, search and rescue, prison visits (or taking some prisoners out at a regular time for their visits/activities - such as sone kind of work or sports), a relative or close friend who is institutionalized. Not sure what the role of his companion is - i.e. the person he usually drives with?
as for Lincoln - wikipedia lists thee groups The Lincoln Philosophy Café
                        Lincoln Record Society
                        Lincoln Hockey Club
Anglo-Saxon, Viking and Norman living history and re-enactment group
                        Lincoln Uphill Gardeners' Society
                        but there will be others.
Do you think he works part-time in a prison or a similar institution there? He seems to have to make sure he gets there on time - hence the precise early starts. Mind you he doesn't always go to Lincoln.

Pie and PPQP - he is also very secretive about what he is doing - and I don't think he would be like this if it was war enactments or market dealing or a strange (legal) hobby. So I think there is an element of strict confidentiality - maybe related to who or what this is for.
Sorry Mick that we are discussing you as if you are not there but you have been stirring in the past.

Hmmm. Is that our clue then, Monsieur Mick?

                            Lincoln, Nebraska?
                            Abe Lincoln?
                            Lincoln Logs?
                            Lincoln Motor Cars?

                            Lincoln Penny?
