Polly-I think our motto could be "Keep Calm and Stay AF" LOL!! Welcome to our thread!

    Star-your day yesterday sounded awesome!!

Dill-I have come to really appreciate the artwork that goes into tats. In fact, i may get the nerve up this year to get a small butterfly on my shoulder or calf!! Now that I'm off the blood thinners I can safely do so. Hey-did you decide on the chickens yet?

Lav-you didn't even have a 24 hour break between the kids being there LOL!!

Cyn-sorry to hear about your hubby. I'm sure your soup will clear him right up. Were you able to work out the business problems today?

Had an absolutely horrible night of no sleep whatsoever. Then to top it off, threw out my back putting pants on this morning!! So, no walk to work but I did get a short walk in with the dogs afterwards. Went very slow. Feeling much better.

Going to plan to turn in by 10 tonite.

      Good morning...

Stayed up late watching the final game of college basketball!!! So, let myself sleep in a little. Now, trying to drink my coffee and wake up.

Dill, we drove to the city we live close to, and walked around. It was fun, we have just not had a chance to, which seems kind of crazy, but moving and starting new jobs, that was about all we could handle. It was beautiful in the city, so fun, sunny and breezy. A boat slip sounds like a great idea, you can use your boat so much more easily. Have fun.

Cyn, snow, oh no! What a rough winter for you. Sorry about the business woes, hope you can get through this challenge. I know you counseled people on moving and organizing and really helped me out with some great advice and tips. How do you make miso soup? I bought refrigerated miso in the past, but was not sure how long it would last and threw it out in the last move. Would love a recipe if you have time. Thanks.

Pap, that is so hard when you can't sleep. Then your back, oh no. Take it slow and nopefully you slept better last night.

Pauly, so great to have you stopping in on this thread, I usually read the thread you post on, so feel like I know you. The five of us have supported each other for about five years, and feel like we know each other. We are not perfect, but do the best we can and know that AF has changed our lives for the better in all areas. Welcome.

Lav, you are really enjoying your grandkids. I get it. Nice it is getting warmer. Here too, and I love it.

      Have a good Tuesday all.

        Good Tuesday morning friends!

Sunless & damp here, uh oh! I really enjoyed the sun yesterday!
April showers will bring May flowers I suppose, ha ha!

Pauly, I've always considered this thread the 'nest for grownups', Lol
As Star mentioned we have been together here for 5+ years & have watched/helped each other through some real growing pains. Everything is good, we all know that as long as we don't drink  Stick around & we will convince you as well.

Star, I am honestly happy the NCAA tournament is over - I am such a non fan, ha ha!!
Hope you have a great day!

Dill, I hope you have a good boating season this year! Such a fun thing to do with the kids too

Papmom, I am not a fan of tats either. My DIL has one upper arm covered now - I just don't like it but keep my mouth shut. I can't get past the unprofessional look, especially for someone who works with kids.

Cyn, I hope you get the rain that we are getting here - it would melt the last of your snow. Sorry about your business issues, I'm right there with you on that subject.

The sleep fairy is playing tricks with me too. My sleep pattern changed when we changed to the clocks & I am awake before 5 am every morning - not thrilled.
Wishing everyone a good AF Tuesday!

Morning ladies, Dill,I live in Las Vegas and Louie is 2 and the love of my life you had asked yesterday, Lav,I like your friendship you all have, and the fact that you all live sober and most importantly happy I'm not a huge fan of tattoos either but I have 3,one on my leg of my tribes name, a bear on my upper thigh(don't ask) and hubs name on my ring finger hidden under my wedding ring, but I'm in a business that it's acceptable to most people, I hate when people, especially women get a whole sleeve done, plus certain professions I'd be freaking out, like say your doctor had his arms covered or a cop,it'd be so weird, anyway, off to start my day hope everyone has a lovely Tuesday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

            Morning all -

Pap - so sorry about your sleep and the back pain, ouch! I am reading more and more about the importance of sleep for every area of our lives. And thinking of the extra damage we were doing to ourselves with AL - thank goodness that is over. Now the challenge is to stop looking at a screen (TV, laptop, phone or tablet) an hour before sleep. For me, that means stopping work an hour before bed...a challenge! Lav - I am having the hardest time with this spring's time change. I guess because of the snow and temps it just seems weird to have it be light out at 7 pm...I can't get used to the morning's either. Gives the whole day a slightly off-kilter feeling. Oh well, as I am trying to put into practice: Difficulties Happen, notice and move on. Dill - hope you are finally seeing some real daffys coming up - though I love your rendition. Star - how nice for you to get a sense of the city where you are. Weekends can be fun if you're close to an entertaining city. Pauly - welcome, and thanks for the info!

HB is better today - he must have just caught the corner of a flu bug, thank goodness it wasn't worse - he's not a great patient. Star - miso; I just do what's on the label; heat the water, then add a TB or 2 of the miso, and chopped scallions or parsley. Very unofficial! I think the main thing is not to boil it - it kills off the fermentation that makes it so good for the GI - very restorative of all the 'good' stuff there. I'm really getting hooked on the whole fermentation thing - it sounds like balancing the GI can affect a tremendous amount; from absorption to immunity to brain issues. Haven't done my own batch yet, but will let you know.

Happy Tuesday all. I'm finally knocking down my mother's last personal tax return and the estate return - that will be a milestone. And I'm doing my best to just do my business work and avoid getting down on myself. As a friend of mine says "Don't believe everything you tell yourself." I'll let you know how that works!

              Good morning ladies,

Woke up with a headache, we have rain forcast, it is going away with some coffee. Whew. I made a really good recipe ;ast night, Turkish Eggplant Cassarole, I am so excited about it. I want to make it again. Still having Easter eggs for breakfast, a new spring menu.

Lav, comments about tattoos are best left unsaid, even younger professionals have them on their wrist or ankle. It is just the style right now. I hate to think how they will look when they get older. Yuck. My daughter has two and regrets them. As long as they are not on your face, or neck, it might not be that bad. I think they have a different meaning now. When I was young they meant you were lower class or a sailor. Not anymore. Come on, wouldn't you want a little chicken tat on your wrist? Just kidding.

Cyn, hope you feel better. I hate when I have stomach issues. I find that if I cook at home, I am usually better. Salads, veggies, no breads, sugars, and in a few days I feel like a million bucks. Then, the weekend comes along.....I love to go out to eat!!! Pizza is my fav. Good you are having endings with some of the duties related to your Mom''s estate. I know as I finished a task, gave away some of her things, it made her loss more final, and I didn't and don't like it. Again, sorry for your loss and the hurt.

Hello to Dill, Pap and Pauly, have a super Wednesday!

Good morning friends & happy Hump day!

Rain here too Star, oh well. It's also supposed to get much colder for a few days.
Awaiting the arrival of grandson #2 at 8:30. I'll take him to his preschool at 11:30 then I can start my day for real

Cyn, glad your husband is feeling better. My daughter has had a stomach virus kicking her butt for a few days too, ugh.
Our taxes have been filed by the accountant, happy that stuff is over for another year. I did all the state work for my parents, I remember all that agony

Hello to Dill, papmom & pauly. Have a great day everyone!

We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature - trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence... We need silence to be able to touch souls.

Yes, "Keep calm and stay AF."
                    ~Papmom:love:

Cyn, isn't it amazing how timely those JOT's are? It seems so often that they come just as I need a particular message.
Pauly, thanks for filling me in about Loui and your location. Aren't grandkids awesome?! It took awhile to get used to the fact that I was actually a grandma, but it becomes much easier on the day they are born!:happy2: Wow! Las Vegas? How exciting!
Papmom, still undecided about the hens. We are waiting to see if the neighbors actually follow thru on their planned move. I keep hoping they'll change their minds and stay. We don't have to decide about the hens until we know for sure what they intend to do.
Lav, I hope you don't pick up that stomach virus. Honestly, what is with all this illness at this time of year?! Geez!
Star, Turkish eggplant? Is there a link to the recipe you used? I've been eating Easter Eggs for breakfast, too. My favorite is creamed eggs and ham over toast.
                    Mmmm.

Had a fun day with a gf yesterday and then a birthday celebration with a family member last evening. It is a cousin and he turned 69. There were some awkward, testy moments over dinner and I wondered if he was under the influence. He was not really acting himself. None of us drank at dinner but I think he may have had more than a few sips of liquid courage before we all met at the restaurant. I have no proof, but I think I am right. Sad, but of course, I've been there myself in the past so I am by no means judging.

Let's all have a happy AF hump day!

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                      Hi all -

Brrrr, why does rainy and 45 feel colder than 27 and sunny? Oh well, I know the melting is still going on, and I expect that I'll be able to see some green soon.

Sounds like all here are doing well today. HB is doing better. However, girl dog had a bit of a tough nite again, though I was able to mostly head it off. I'm now going to go back (slowly) to her original raw diet, and cut out all grains. I'm thinking it has to do with the Pancreas, and hasn't been helped by all the rice congee, cooked chicken and bone broth that I've been lavishing on her. I was out of the regular chicken last weekend, and gave her some with no aspic - she had no problems then. We'll see! How the coughing fits in, I'm not sure, but the homeopathic pills I have seem to do the trick - if I wake up enough to give them to her in the middle of the night, grrr.

Working away here - feeling pretty sleepy after an up-and-down night. Sheesh! Dogs! Lav, I know you feel my pain - LOL!

OK, back to work - wishing all a comforting night. With some silence - thx Dill!

                        Ha ha pauly
Just tonight I created a gluten & dairy free 'cheesy' flat bread from scratch & it was good! I should have taken a pic of it before we demolished it, oh well. It went nice with the pot of turkey soup, yum. Dairy gives me so much grief, it's not worth it to me. I've experimented with making cashew cheese, not bad. Lately I've been buying almond cheese, mozzarella & cheddar styles - good!

Dill, I definitely do not miss the days of sneaking liquid courage. You never know what's going on with people, could have been something else going on with him too. Hopefully he can work it out.

Cyn, I was up at 2 am with my younger dog
It's almost like being up in the middle of the night with a newborn, honestly.
I think my dogs do better (stomach wise) on a reduced fat diet. I do give them a little chicken & turkey occasionally but never any skin or anything that looks greasy. I hope you & your girl dog have a better sleep tonight!

                            Good morning to all...

Nothin much going on today. It is warm at 66 degrees and lots of storms. Spring is really here.

Pauly, so nice to have you on our thread. You are a grandma too, I believe. I usually read the thread with Mick's jokes, so feel I know you a little. Tell us more about yourself if you have time and are in the mood.

Dill, here is the link: http://feedmephoebe.com/2014/07/meat...-imam-bayildi/ for the best eggplant in a long time. Whew, it was even better the next day. I used my own spices, Italian seasoning and cinnamon, rather than the chili flakes, it was even better the next day. Oh, I think I used to much olive oil, you can cook veggies with water and a little oil, which I will do next time. I think it is the baking and the pan frying that turns out the deliciousness of this recipe. Nice to hear you had some fun social events. How awkward with your cousin. I am trying not to judge too. I read a really spiritual book about Five Women Who Met Jesus, and downloaded it for a few dollars. I got so angry about the Religous Reformation Law and it was not good for me. I ranted. So, this book has helped me come out of my anger. I am really struggling with my library, almost no hard copy books, all on line. The problem is I liked to browse, see what was out there. I have to get a new strategy.

Lav, you are super babysitter. My goodness, you are lucky.

Cyn, hope you have time to take a little nap today. I hate when I am up all night, just don't feel right. Spring is surely on the way, I remember last year we had feet of snow (not as much as you) and it just took time. It made the soft weather even sweeter when it came.

                            Have a good one.

                              Good morning friends,

Not a drop of sun here in the east but better than what's going on in the Midwest - big storms & tornados there, ugh.

Glad you are feeling spring-like today Star
The recipe looks good, I'll have to give it a try! It's hard to find a recipe that doesn't involve cheese or canned soup, yuck.

No kid watching (as far as I know) today so I guess I'll catch up on other stuff, like work, ha ha!
But first, a trip to Curves

Have a great AF Thursday everyone!

                                Morning all -

33 degrees and ice all over the trees here! Sheesh! Poor girl dog wiped out on the (newly visible) flagstone walkway, poor thing. She did well during the night. I agree Lav, this is the way to go for feeding her, plus enzymes - she's lost so much weight, and is constantly hungry; it could be malabsorption. I'll be keeping notes!

Lav - recipe please for the flatbread! I'm not a bread person normally, but with a steamy bowl of soup, that sounds darn good.

Dill - I hope you are seeing some more buds on your trees. Is Tessa able to enjoy the spring with you?

Pap - hope you are hanging in there and enjoying more tasks at work.

Star - you sound like you're headed for a great spring weekend. I hope these storms aren't affecting you...

PaulyW- good to hear from you. You found out how to make the almond cheese? I'll be looking that up...

Since I took HB for a screening med test early this morning (all good news) I'm finally getting started with work...

                                Happy AF Thursday ---
