morning all..from a wet and windy Pennines ......how are you all today then?sadly the idea of getting the little rabbit is no more..he has gone to Rainbow Bridge..they took him to the vets yesterday, and the vet took one look at him and said the kindest thing would be to put him to sleep ..this is the vet that I took both my rabbits to ..and she def knows what she is talking about..he hadnt been getting bullied,it just looked that way..he couldnt eat because his mouth was full of abscesses etc ..the other rabbits were trying to feed him etc..poor little fella...what makes me so mad is that he had been to another vet 3 times and they had washed his eye out and given him antibiotics!!!fkn useless gits!!they failed to check his mouth ,weight loss or anything...so yes pie it puts a massive emphasis on getting the diagnosis right..
Anyways some good did come out of it..the lady that took the rabbits to the vets borrowed my big carrier box..the vet recognised it ..and the convo got round to "if you dont mind me asking ..I saw another rabbit in this carrier last week..Kim explained to the vet that it had been my rabbit and the link between me the prison ..blah blah..the upshot is the vet has signed all the prisons animals up ......all in about 60 including guinea pigs, in return the prison have agreed that any rabbits/guinea pigs that go to the vets to be put down because they cant find homes..they will take them..and the animals get the best of care and the vet gets the extra business...thats my rant done!!!on with the show tea and coffee on the go

hiya Sam ..great to see you again matey....what have you been up to?is there no way you can get the internet connection on a permanent basis?pointless asking me Im about as good as a chocolate fireguard with that stuff!!

good morning bear...hey youll be fine :thumbsup:best of luck with your presentation /speech..and as for the drink afterwards....even if you do feel like it..before you take that drink ..jump on the site and just talk to sumwun..wait for a reply back before you take the drink:thumbsup:..guarantee the urge will have gone by then..you can do it.

good morning SF....hows you?pretty tired I guess after all the hassle...look after you time now

hiya Lav...was it a busy doing nothing day yesterday then?cant reely see you sitting around doing nowt...any plans for the weekend ?think it over with a brew...

hi pie..did the sleep fairy turn up last night for you?your post really sounds upbeat..well done you!!

hiya pauly......Mae everybody, Mick, it's illegal here to carry a taser here too unless you take a certification class, but I figure if someone is gonna attack me,I highly doubt they'll call the cops on me...good answer!!did you do the flatbread recipe?any thing going for the weekend?you asked about changers..I never took any meds, looked at vids or read books about quitting..I just wrote reams and reams of stuff ..mostly rubbish ..but every time I wanted a drink ,I made myself write down why ,what harm benefits absolutely anything..the trick is ..if you have got the time to take a drink ..no matter where you are then you have the time to write it down first..after awhile you relate having a drink to writing down this massive scribble first..in the end you think ..ach ..cant be bothered...

hi ppqp.....tea tree oil near your eyes...?dont think I would...hope it all gets better quick tho.....

couple of pics of garden up to date..came up with this idae for awindbreak..that way it stops the plants getting battered ,but still lets the light thru

We were just leaving a party when my mate asked me:

"Can you give me a lift home?"

    I replied, "You're drunk aren't you?"

He said, "Not really, I've hardly had anything to drink, so what makes you think I am?"

I said, "The party was at your house."

I was in the queue at Starbucks this morning. The man getting served in front of me asked for a mocha.
"Sorry sir, but we're out of mochas."
The guy was fuming. "I have a mocha every morning when I come in here!" he raged. "I'll just have to have a latte!" He went and sat down.

I went to the counter and said, "I'll have a large latte too, please."
They asked me for my name. I asked why they needed it and they told me that they'd write it on my cup and shout it when it was ready.

So I told them my name was Mocha.

Wife: Why am I a size 10 in one shop and then in another I'm a 12. It doesn't make sense.

Husband: It's probably because there's a McDonald's in between the two shops!!

A man is sitting on a plane waiting to get served for drinks but he notices that the refreshments cart seems to have stopped well in front of him. He looks to the front of the plane where all of the air hostesses seem to be running around after one of the passengers who is bossing them around. When he looks closer, he notices that the passenger is a very rude parrot.
"Get me a whisky now woman" screamed the parrot, and she hurried off rather nervously to get it.
"Get me some peanuts " he screamed to another hostess, and again in fear of the horrible parrot she rushed off to get some.
The man thought to himself that if he tried the same approach as the parrot then he might get served. The next time an air hostess walked past the man shouted, "Hey stoopid, get me a beer!" The air hostess instantly burst into tears and ran to the front of the plane and into the cockpit. A few minutes later the co-pilot and several air hostesses walked back out of the cockpit, grabbed the man and the parrot and threw them out of the plane.
As they began falling towards earth the parrot turned to the nervous looking man and said, "well, you're pretty brave for someone who can't fly!"

    morning all
feeling kind of foggy, not a great night's sleep. That something that doesn't generally happen but there's always an exception to the rule. Looks like a nice spring day coming our way here.

Mick, thanks for the kick off, the internet connection thing is pretty much a "here's what you get in a rural area." It is expensive and there are data limitations. A person can increase their data plan, but they ain't giving it away so if or when I hit the limit I just stop using it. I've been on the verge of canceling, but with a possible home based business it seems necessary to have internet. I look at the much less offerings Pie or PQ, I think, suggested but the service isn't good enough here.

Off to farmers market in DC again, cherry blossoms in full swing this weekend, should be busy.

    Have a great weekend everybody.

      Good morning Abbers,

It's sunny & heading up to milder temps today, yay!

      Thanks for the startup Mick!
Sorry about the bunny, shame he didn't get a proper diagnosis in time. Sounds like you've been instrumental in assuring current & future pets will have a better outcome, good for you
I have used my quiet time the past few days to get some non-work stuff done around here. I really never sit down for long! The weather has forced all of us to stay inside pretty much anyway. Your garden pics make me jealous, ha ha! Can't think of planting anything quite yet around here.

Sam, hope you enjoy the cherry blossoms in DC today, Funny my son works there but never mentions them. I don't think he ever sees them from the fire houses he goes to anyway.
Do you have cable or satellite TV? We had to deal with satellite TV for a year or so after moving here because none of the cable companies were in the area yet. Internet was by dialup only - really sucked. We finally convinced Armstrong cable to run their wires here after we talked all of our neighbors into signing up too, ha ha!!! Moral of the story is - you sometimes get what you want by being a relentless pain in the butt, LOL

Greetings to everyone & sending wishes for a great AF day!

        Morning Everybody,

Mick, Glad Thumper is no longer suffering; sometimes it's the best that can be done. Pretty sure your Sam will be showing him around the Rainbow Bridge, both of them restored to health and happiness again. About 8 years ago my rescue group took in a stray dog whose initial diagnosis was bladder infection. Turned out she was suffering from heartworms, rotten teeth, pyometra, and a spinal injury. There was much talk of euthanasia, partly due to the costs of treating, but also quality of life concerns given the spine issue. Decision was made to give her a chance at recovery, and it's worked out well. Occasionally, the spine thing will flare up, but it's easily controlled with pain meds and rest. If you guessed that I adopted her, you're right.
Nice job on the garden windbreaks!

Sam, You're returning to DC market. Does this mean you enjoyed your last visit?

Hi Lav, you relentless pain in the butt, you! :happy2:

          MAE ALL...

Mick...thanks for kicking us off this morning. Wow...great job on lending the rabbit carrier and the resulting agreement with the prison. That has got to make you feel good. Eye was very sore this morning, sure it was from the Doc pulling gobs of glue off my eyelashes. He got the stuff close to the cornea but there was still a lot left. All the Doc's (except the original ER one) said no tea tree oil near the eye. An intern ER eye doctor told me that they use a type of super glue to close cuts on the skin. They then tell the patient not to use polysporin as it dissolves the glue. Remembered that you can get polysprin for the eye (works on pinkeye) so sent other son out to get some. Drenched the eyelashes and used a Qtip to gentle wipe the lashes. Poof..all the glue is gone. Haven't actually put it in the eye to dissolve the glue on the cornea as I don't know about the contact lens. Will check it out with my own ophthalmologist on Wednesday. Garden pics look great can hardly wait to get started here.

Sam...when I was on the ranch we were doomed to dialup till what is called the Eastern Irrigation District (supplies water to the south east of the province) put in their own wireless towers. It was still tricky depending on trees and gullies but with repeater towers managed to get most of us. And yup they had a data limit too. Hope the market goes good for you, didn't read about last weekend's trip but haven't been reading much of anything lately. LOL

Lav...I've been forced to stay inside too but it's not because of the weather. Close to 67F and sunny. Don't think Sam even has a TV so probably no satellite/cable either. Getting non-work stuff is a bonus and I'm sure you don't sit for very long. Enjoy your day.

Pi....could see the writing on the wall...of course you adopted her. Lav does have a point doesn't she. Hope your having a good day.

Didn't make it down to Dad's today as I could hardly keep my eye open. Wish I had thought of the polysporin earlier as he'll be asleep till 4pm now. May pop down before supper and get him outside for a bit. Waves to all who haven't stopped in yet.......:smile:PPQP

PQ, I had no idea there's a polysporin formula for eyes. Glad it worked on your lashes, and may be the solution for your cornea as well.

Check in. Dad still is in hospice. We got a message that the he would pass in about 2 hours. Because of that my hubby did not go up to Cleveland.....and here we sit.....that Dad still has not passed. I think my hubby is really regretting not going because all his brothers are there....which would give him more support than just being here. As much as I encouraged to go.....he decided not to. I kept telling him that even if Dad passed 1/2 way there, he would be able to be with the people he needed. Now most of the brothers and family leave tomorrow. There is no funeral service. And I just feel like he is going to feel like here he was in "Nashville", when he really should have been in Cleveland....at least around family. I can't make him do anything, but I know this will be something he regrets. He has 6 brothers and they never are all together in one place.

In a selfish way I wish he went. He keeps telling me that he feels "all alone". I did reach out to a few of his close friends to let them know what was happening and they all were wonderful reaching out to him. Except I got the backlash from him....

So I just riding it out with him and trying to support his decisions.

And I am trying really hard to not to drink. I want to be there for him, but he is not letting me. And as an alike....I just want to numb out.
