How many political leaders does it take to change a lightbulb?

One to promise to change it if voted back in.
One to blame the need to change on the previous government, despite not changing it in 5 years.
One to say they would change it if they had more power in this coalition.
One to say it's dark because immigrants failed to change it.
One to say they're not changing an English bulb.
One to refuse to change it because the spare bulb isn't eco-friendly.
One to wonder what this indoor sun thing is.

I got a death threat from my wife today.

She said, "I'll cook dinner tonight."

Two drunks were walking downtown Manhattan . The first drunk stumbled down into the underground
and the second kept walking along the top. When they met at the other end the second drunk asked
"where have you been?" To which first drunk replied "i've just been down some fella's cellar, he's got

The manager of the Red Indian football team is in fear of being sacked.

It seems they have had Apache start to the season.

Last week, the wife bought me a bat and ball.
Mind you, the bat is fecking useless - it just hangs upside down in the wardrobe.

A Salvation Army woman was standing outside the wine lodge in Sheffield.

She warned everyone who went in about the evils of alcohol.

One guy asked her how she could say that about alcohol if she'd never even tried it.

After a discussion he persuaded her to try some.

    "What'll you have?", he asks.

    "What do women drink?"

    "Try a Gin and Tonic."

"Allright but not in a glass, get me it in a coffee cup, so that people won't notice."

The guy goes to the bar and orders a pint of beer and a G & T in a coffee cup.

The barman says, "not that bleedin Salvation Army woman again?"

A guy sitting at a bar at Heathrow Terminal 3 noticed a really beautiful woman sitting next to him.

He thought to himself: "Wow, she's so gorgeous she must be an off duty flight attendant. But which airline does she work for?"

Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta slogan:

"Love to fly and it shows?"

She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself:

"Damn, she doesn't work for Delta."

A moment later, another slogan popped into his head.

    He leaned towards her again,

    "Something special in the air?"

She gave him the same confused look.

He mentally kicked himself, and scratched Singapore Airlines off the list.

Next he tried the Thai Airways slogan:

    "Smooth as Silk."

This time the woman turned on him,

"What the fck do you want?"

The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, and said

    "Ahhhhh, EasyJet".

Mae everybody, SF,sorry about your dad as for her, meh, write her off and out of your life/thoughts, sounds like a toxic person, Mick, the bat and ball joke was so dumb it was hilarious haha! I agree on the pills,I don't feel like I need them, I think us as alcoholics are unsure of what happiness is, the euphoria that drinking used to bring was all a fake"happiness" being sober, you want that super high level of happiness and sometimes.it's there, but most of the time it's contentment and thats ok I think it's a normal state of mind, sad days are normal too,our weird brains just don't like emotions and want to block them out asap, you explained it good btw no walk for me this morning,50 mph winds and dusty,no thanks, is Julie's fitbit on her wrist or is it a clip on? Lav,I took a peek at the link,I didn't have much time to read cuz I had Louie but I'll look into it after work, up early today, but it's ok, Wednesday is pretty slow at work, no Louie tonight so I can just take it easy, somebody posted in the nest about a relapse quiz she took and was scared cuz it said a 90% chance she'll relapse, I hope she doesn't think it's real,I went online and found a similar test and most of the questions were repetitive so of course the results are gonna be off, anyways, most of what I'm learning is that this is all a mindset, if you feel doomed to fail, you probably will, jeez I'm jabber jaws today haha, hello to all and hope everyone has a nice Wednesday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Good Wednesday morning Abbers, happy Hump day to all

      Thanks for the startup Mick!
You certainly are the busy one I am never quite that energetic in the mornings - takes me a while to get into gear!

SF, I'm very sorry for you loss
He is a peace now, keep that thought in your heart.
I'm glad the siblings are doing the right thing, regardless of their mother's ignorance. Forget her, she's making her own choices & will suffer the consequences.

pauly, definitely take some time to look thru the ToDo website. I learned a whole lot about mindfulness from their teachings

Greetings to everyone, I'll check in later. I hear Curves calling my name!
      Have a great AF day!

        morning all
a wet day yesterday and I welcomed it!! get that pasture growing!! (I'm into the !!!'s this morning!!) It is curious to watch our old senile cat theses, she got back to using her litter box (for now). She'll go in and out of eating, sometimes days without, other times ravenous. Her new thing is to sleep on top of a couple of boxes of jig saw puzzles. She'll be 22 this May. Shows no sign of giving it up yet.

Thanks for the brew Mick, sounds like the growing season is on you and you'll be busy.

Pauly, well put on the up's and down's that are a normal cycle. Usually, the funks go away by something good that happens and knowing that the "good" is out there.

SF, sorry to hear of the passing of your father, stay close and know we all care.

Morning Lav, X post it doth appear, hope you have good un!

        Off to chore-land.
        Be well good friends

SF, very sorry about your loss. Its so hard when we lose a parent. I miss my dad.

Sam, cats are strange animals, I can never figure them out. It sounds like you have a nice life there.

Your garden sounds wonderful Mick. I can't wait to start gardening but I have to wait until May. We always get a big dump of snow in May.

Have a great sober day everyone.

hey everyone quick post,SF so sorry about your dad and take care of yourself xx

Great day at work - coaching course - lots of self reflection,in a good way.My dad is visiting this weekend and always drinks a lot, pubs is part of our thing.Determined to silence the ' just have one' Bs voice that is popping up.Trying not to overthink it,give it room to grow.

re rollerderby thanks for your words Mick,I've decided to reply to the survey as I felt bullied, and know others did too. What happens next is up to them - I've got it off my chest, been an adult and honest and said what I think could improve the situation - and it felt like the right thing to do.

Off to do bit of cleaning of the house to get ready for tomorrow.

                MAE ALL....

One pooped puppy here. Visit to my own ophthalmologist today and he took the contact lens out. The iritis is back...go figure (no stress in my life the last 7 days!) so it's back to drops every 2 hours and a follow up next Wednesday. Still a lot of glue on the upper cornea so it's a bit irritating but I'd rather live with that than the contact lens. It has been non stop go since I got back to work on Monday so apologies for not checking in.

Mick...thanks for the kick off and I wish I could get out in the garden, find it relaxing and I need a fix of that. Sunny and warm today and going up to +18C tomorrow. I'll be glad to see this week come to an end. Good luck with your early days tomorrow and Friday, one of these days we'll figure it out.

SF...by the sounds of it your Father has passed. Condolences but he's in a better place now and you can get on to the important stuff, looking after you.

Pauly...sounds like you've got it right. I'll stick with contentment every time. Hope you're enjoying your relaxing evening.

Lav...as soon as things slow down I'll be checking out the website too. Got it bookmarked.

Sam...Theses....love the name. 22 is quite old for a cat isn't it? I think I read the market went good. You'll be back in the swing of it in no time.

Narilly...with the day we had today and tomorrow's forecast, it's gonna be hard not to start in the garden. Are you a flames fan? Game 1 tonight.

Pi...I think there's a song in there somewhere. LOL Hope you had a great day.

Bear...you can do it. When that voice came calling I'd always think "What would Mick say!" What are the pros, what are the cons and by the time I had thought of my list the voice was silenced. Sounds like you have a good attitude about the roller derby brew-haw :goodjob:

Ordering dinner in tonight. Think I'll go with a Spinach Salad. Hope you all have a peaceful evening.....:smile:PPQP

Hey there Sam, narilly & Pie

bear, glad you got your two cents in about roller derby but please don't dwell on the issue. Refocus on yourself, that's what is most important now!

PQ, I really wish you a speedy & full recovery - tough situation with your eye.
When your vision is back to normal I hope you take a chance to do some reading about mindfulness - helped me out a lot!!!

pauly, I think I would consider staying indoors until the dust settles. That has to be irritating to the eyes & lungs!

Heading to bed now - have a peaceful night everyone!

Hey friends, I'm throwing in the towel on today. Not a bad one, just unexpectedly hectic, and on only 4 hours sleep from last night. Sharp as a marble, I am.

                      G'nite all.

PS - Maybe we could get some of those WWMD, (What Would Mick Do) bracelets?
