Hi everyone,I feel better for getting off my chest and giving some solutions - I feel relieved. I'm happy to help them change things too. This isn't a stressy getting over involved thing - it feels the right thing to do and I feel enthused about it.
You're right about my dad,he's coming to see ME - so he can drink if he wants to,I don't have too - simples. The pub we go to is more a foody pub now with a nice beer garden so not all about the booze. I've also done it before - been sober when he visits and been sober at a music festival - I can do this and want to do this.Happy Thursday everyone - half day today - yay!

Up at silly hour, should head out with Mick this morning. Is your Mystery Trip stressful?

          Morning everyone,

Feeling well rested and it's a beautiful morning. I've got a door repair guy coming this afternoon, so free this morning to catch up by phone with some friends.

I'm hosting an international student for 6 weeks this summer. PQ, she's coming from your part of the globe. Busy setting up a room for her, hence the furniture moving, door repair, and several other things I don't really need to do for myself, but come into play with a guest coming.

Mick, "How would you like to pay for that?" indeed!

          Enjoy your half day, Bear.

Hey, PQ. Wishing peace to your eyeballs.

Hi Lav, leftover diapers? Eww! Enjoy your plant shopping.

            morning all
nice sunny day here in ol' Virginny, forgot to mention on April 9th the 150th anniversary of the surrender at Appomattox of the American Civil War. I am always reminded of my history teacher in college who was Quaker saying he called it the War Between the States because no war is civil. A well made point. Thank goodness the south did not win.

Mick thanks for the java and the attractor joke... got to send that one off to some folks, took me a second to get it .... sheesh

Morning Bear, enjoy your day with your Dad!!

Hey PQ, how are the eyes doing? My wife is complaining of seeing light flashes, which may be nothing but I'm "encouraging her to go to an eye doc sooner than later. I had the same thing and ended up being an age thing, better safe than sorry, though.

Lav, how's you be? pretty day out there, eh?? Enjoy your gals!

waves to Pauly, Det, SF, Narilly, Molly, Pie, ET ALS!!!!

Mae everybody, it never ends, last night I got food poisoning from chicken! All was well until about 4 hours after I ate then I started feeling queasy and then bloated, then queasy again, went to the bathroom and exploded from everywhere, had to sit on the toilet and use the trash can at the same time, this was ALL night!! Had to call a girl in to work for me but there's no way I could go in,feels a little better now but I'm still scared of drinking water, still have stabbing pain, sorry for the graphic description and whining, it just took me by surprise and it feels like a hangover, creepy, love to all, have a nice Thursday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Aw Pauly....and I thought I had the Black Bad Luck Cloud hanging over me.

Sam...I don't know which description is worse, yours or Pauly's. LOL
Eye is doing much better, full day of no contact lens and the irritation is gone. It's a standard question at every eye doc visit, "Any flashes of light?" I am an eye rubber. (Mick, that's not a joke)
It is possible to rub your eye hard enough to dislodge the retna from the cornea in the back of the eye. Easy fix procedure if caught soon enough.
When I have an iritis flare up I qet them periodically. They do look at the back of my eye at every visit.

Lav....I have a present for you

Thank you to everyone on the kind words about my father-in-law. It is tough, but for him being 84.....I think he did a magnificent job at being a person. Maybe it comes with age.

Mick....nice garden...I swear we only know how to kill things at our house

Paully...the only thing the meds ever did for me was dull me out. I did not even understand happiness on them. Then when I felt happy without booze or drugs....my mind went WTF......it seriously did not understand....and I am still working on it. Food poisoning is awful....I have been there.

PPQ----nice to see you here. I hope that your eye is doing better. That had to scare you.

LAV----you have SUN!!!!! All we have have had is rain! This is not Southern weather.....and I can't take much more of it.

Pie....I am glad that you are here...looking forward to getting to know you better.

                    Hope Det shows up.

The Stella collective will love the pink harness, ha ha!!!
                      Glad your eye is improving!

Pie - that's leftover, unused diapers (I'm not quite THAT crazy)!!!!!
Hosting a student sounds like fun, good luck.

                      pauly, food poisoning sucks
I had a chicken salad sandwich at a restaurant years ago that nearly killed me, ugh. Hope you are better soon!

It was another beautiful day here Sam. Rain tomorrow but that's OK. My girls decided to stay overnight so we'll find something to do to keep us busy.

                      Det, are you OK?

I am thinking about treatment.....now I have the time and money...but, I don't want to waste my time. I just keep relapsing. I really do not want to go this route.

SF...I got to the point where I started thinking about treatment too. It didn't take me long to go from thinking to doing. I just knew I had to do something. Turned out it was the best decision I made and zero time wasted! I gained the knowledge of what AL does to some people, learned coping skills, worked on "me", gained my self respect back, and felt the love of total strangers who became close friends in a united goal. It gave me a new beginning when I needed it. Although I didn't remain abstinent the memories sure interfered with my enjoyment of drinking again. I did not have to pay for my treatment (covered by the government) but I know it can be expensive. I would really research the facility you're thinking of to make sure it's right for you.
