A scouser goes into a library and asks,

"Have you got any books about power sharing? "

"Yes, we have the excellent 'The way of the little party' an excellent book on the subject, " replied the librarian.

"No you clown, " said the scouser, "I want to nick my neighbours electric. "

    Here's a little known fact.

    The average fight between women?

    30 years.

I came back from the pet shop. "They didn't have any goldfish so I got something different."

"That's ok." said my girlfriend, "Just put it in the tank and I'll have a look in a while."

10 minutes later she comes over to me and says, "It's lying at the bottom not moving, what the feck did you buy?"

    "It's a hamster." I replied.

A new report suggests that being overweight is not as harmful as is commonly believed, and actually confers some surprising benefits.

Being five to ten pounds overweight could protect people from ailments ranging from tuberculosis to Alzheimer's disease, research indicates. Those carrying 15 to 25 extra pounds are better able to recover from adverse conditions such as emphysema, pneumonia, and various injuries and infections, states the report.

Thirty to forty pounds of flab could help fend off breast, kidney, pancreatic, prostate, and colon cancer. And an extra fifty pounds on the scale may improve eyesight, reverse baldness, cure the common cold, and reduce global warming.

In general, the report concludes, overweight people are happier, more successful in business, smarter, and friendlier.

The study was funded by a research grant from McDonald's, Burger King, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Domino's Pizza, Starbucks, Haagen Dazs, Sara Lee, and Krispy Kreme.

There was a Mensa Convention in San Francisco, and several members lunched at a local cafe.

While dining, they discovered that their salt shaker contained pepper and their pepper shaker was full of salt. How could they swap the contents of the bottles without spilling, and using only the implements at hand? Clearly this was a job for Mensa!

The group debated and presented ideas, and finally came up with a brilliant solution involving a napkin, a straw, and an empty saucer. They called the waitress over to dazzle her with their solution.

"Ma'am," they said, "We couldn't help but notice that the pepper shaker contains salt and the salt shaker..."

"Oh," the waitress interrupted. "Sorry about that." She unscrewed the caps of both bottles and switched them.

hey Mick,Sandy is beautiful, and almost the size of a small bear!

Still sober - happy and had a lovely time,he has been sober since NYE - same as me,wants more than is good, feels jittery and just wasted weekends feeling shite.
I'm on the up - been to body balance and loved it,off to so some reading prep for assignment in two hours.I know I don't need booze logically, it's just getting the thoughts out of my head when they pop in.

Noticed last two times I drank I was worried about upcoming events, and self talk was negative' you can't do it' and fear of not fitting in.I can do it and if I fit in or not has sweet FA to do with what's in my glass - I also CAN do it and have stayed sober in past successfully I go to gigs, the pub and not drink and I have a good time - not big boozy sessions - but normal social time that happens to have a bar - not a problem.

Feeling a bit more on top of that thinking with SMART tools, and same with weight - helps you to learn to deal with not feeling great all the time, recognising that everything isn't about instant gratification and that others can do this, that we may have track record of success ourselves, however small and others are not always superhuman for staying sober/losing weight so it is something we can achieve too.

    Have a great day everyone.

      Good Sunday morning Abbers!

Thanks for the startup Mick - I see Sam started a thread at the same time
I'm feeling pretty lazy this morning, good thing there's nothing special going on. Spring allergies really zap my energy level.
I hope Sandy's appetite picks up Mick. I wonder if there's some sort of vitamin supplement you can give her.

bear, I'm glad you stayed on your plan yesterday. No drinking = no regrets

Not much going on in my world today & that's OK with me!
Wishing everyone a good AF Sunday!

Mae everybody, of course Sandy is gonna act a little out of it for a bit Mick, recovering and probably the meds too,and yes,she might be getting lonely it rained for 4 hours straight last night and now it's cold!should've skipped washing my hair, was riding the e-bike and really wishing I had got the treadmill instead, only lasted 20 minutes, I really hate it that bad, used to go for 45 to an hour but I had a good music playlist on my phone, with this new one I can get music but hafta pay,or get radio for free but it's all commercials, hubs walked in on me and I snapped at him so off to kiss his ass, much love to all, let's have a super sober Sunday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

          Morning all,

Looks like a low-key Sunday shaping up for me. Loved seeing all the pics posted yesterday on this thread and others. Must have been nice for you to be reunited with your guitar after so many years, Sam. Good to see you SF, Bear, Lav. Good luck with hubs, Pauly.

MAE ALL....the snow predicted last night stayed well north of us. Bright, sunny but cold out today.

Sam...good luck at the market today. Loved the guitar pic.

Mick...thanks for kicking us off this morning. Dad visit was good and his hand is mending. Still don't know what caused it. Hope Sandy is doing better and maybe a new friend will help. Busy day yesterday as we hosted an All Candidates Forum and close to 400 people showed up. Looking forward to dinner at the bosses tonight. We're having roast pork with lots of "cracklin".

Bear...you definitely are sounding up. I have to agree, it's that instant gratification that'll get us. I think that's where we lost the "work/reward" attitude as everything is instant these days.

Lav...sounds like you're going to have an easy day for a change. Enjoy.

Pauly...there must be a way to hook up something so you can get your playlist going again. Have a think about it. Hope the ass kissing worked and you can enjoy your day.

Pi...no project on the go today? When does your house guest arrive. Have a good Sunday whatever you get up to.

Woke up full of energy this morning so am going to get at some chores I've been putting off.
Have a Super Sober Sunday all and all to come....:smile:PPQP

Hey PQ, Can't wait to hear how dinner goes. What are you wearing? Is it casual?

My summer guest will be here mid June through late July. No projects at the mo'. Frig has been behaving, and having to replace it "eventually" is a much happier prospect than having to replace it "now"!
