Hello All,
Jane, thanks for the link. Very interesting. The maker of the product says that it is more expensive than regular alcohol and therefore less likely to be abused. He says it's harder to get drunk on it than regular alc. I don't know how he determined that. The article you linked to says it can be mixed with water, or used in a nebulizer!!! Sounds like a pretty quick delivery system to me. Anyway, I'm glad I won't be buying it.:happy2:
Lav, Pauly and Papmom, I hope you are enjoying this lovely day. Papmom, you need to rest! Pauly, you need to zip your wallet shut! Lav, hang in there, it won't be long till the twins are gone!Dill

Good morning...
I was MIA for a few days, really busy and did not get on the computer.
Dill, thanks for starting the thread and the great name. Nice birthday for you, good. I have heard of powdered alcohol, but don't understand what you would do with it. Mix it with soda? Geez. What will they think of next.
Pap, you sound happy and busy, your weather sounds great.
Lav, have fun with the doggies.
Pauly, hope your allergies go away.
Jane, welcome.
To all, off to work soon, have a great day.

Good morning friends, happy Monday!
The ITs went home last evening, what a fun-filled weekend, ha ha!
My younger grandson arrives at 9:30 this morning to hang out with me all day. We're expecting a sunny 80 degree day today, sounds like summer all of a sudden
Star, sounds like you've been busy! I hope you are having some nice outside time too.
Greetings Dill, Papmom, Pauly, Jane & the travelling Cyn!
I hope everyone has a wonderful AF Monday!

I don't know how this day got away from me but it sure did! We have been doing fencing which is pretty hard work, harder as we're older. We've been helped by the neighbor boy tho. Anyway, I am dirty dog tired! LOL! Time for a bath and a good nights sleep. Gratefully AF.Dill

Good morning...
Am I sore! We bought over 20 bags of mulch on Sunday and spread them all. My back is killing me! It looks so good though, it was worth it. I am so happy we have a smaller yard, it makes things easier.
Lav, yes, we are supposed to have nice weather too, I love it. How old is the little guy and will he play outside some of the day? Have fun.
Dill, hope you are not as sore as I am. It is worth it, fun to be outside too.
Hello to Pap, Cyn, Pauly, and Jane. Have a good one.

Good Tuesday morning friends!
I survived my 11.5 hour day on boy watch yesterday. It was a long day but it went well.
Today I am expecting my daughter & granddaughter for a visit. This morning I have an appointment to run in for a B/P check. Never a dull moment.
Star, I hope your back & muscles recover quickly. Spreading mulch is not for sissies but it is good exercise
We use so much around here that we have it delivered & dumped in a big pile on the driveway, ugh.
My younger grandson just turned 4 last month. He goes to preschool 3 afternoons/week but not on Monday & Friday.
My son works 24 hr shifts so he's away for a whole day at a time. My DIL is a mobile therapist so she spends a lot of time driving from one client to the next, hence the extra long work day for her some days.
Dill, fencing work sounds like hearty exercise too! This stuff doesn't get any easier as we age but it's good that we can still participate, huh? I'm not the rocking chair/knitting type of granny & I'm sure you're not either!!!
Greetings Cyn, hope all is well!
Hi there Papmom & Pauly, what's going on?
Wishing everyone a good AF Tuesday!

Hello all - Back from my trip, unpacking, doing laundry, trying to get caught up on work. Whew!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY Dill! Sounds like it was happy - I'm so glad. Thanks for the magical start to the month.
Lav - Seriously, you are one dedicated miMom. I have a call into our local landscaper about a load of mulch - we need it everywhere...
Star - your yard/lawn sounds like you are whipping it into shape - wonderful!
Pauly - blueberry bushes? Sounds good - Lav, I will follow the link about that; if I'd planted blueberries our first year here, they'd be bearing by now!
Pap - you rock! Thx for the pics - I had no idea you were really running the course - I thought you were a side-supporter. Wow, what a feeling that must be to go through it all. Congrats.
Hi Jane - I agree, the liquid form of AL should come with stiff warning signs plastered all over the bottles.
OK, off to the races. I'm so glad that I did most of the big trimming/bushwhacking before I left - the warm weather over the weekend has everything blooming and leafing out, practically overnight!
Take care all -

Welcome back Cyn, glad you are safely home. I'm still whacking away at one area of my yard and have been cutting off lower limbs as well. I can only go at it a little at a time before I get tuckered out. Hence, here I am right now at the computer, resting.
Pauly, I'm sore today too and the irony is, it's not from the fence work but from planting annuals! Just like you. I used muscles I haven't used in a while I guess. I really didn't even want to get out of bed this morning I was so sore! The fencing is not so big a deal as it may sound. I just do the things I can: whack small bushes, drag branches to a burn pile, carry wood from one place to the next, one piece at a time and do the "gopher" work.
Lav, how did your B/P check go? All in order I hope.
Star, yes, I am every bit as sore as you! LOL! But as you say, it is worth it. I picked up a new book. Again, it is the one the library group is reading for discussion at the end of June. I wonder if I'll make the discussion group this time! Ha! Anyway, so far so good with the book. It is about the women who worked on the atomic bomb back in the 1940's down in Oak Ridge Tennessee. It's based on interviews from the women themselves.
Hi Papmom and Jane!
OK, so I was listening to an interview the other day with Donald Trump. He was asked if he ever drank or smoked cigarettes. He flat out answered never! I don't know why this has stuck with me. I have been pondering it for days. He is a successful entrepreneur and business man and a celebrity as well. Those occupations I have always associated with alcohol and loads of it. But he said he learned early on by watching his older brother (by 10 years) who was a shining star on the rise as a young man. He got involved with alcohol and went downhill. Trump loved and admired his big brother and learned by watching him struggle with his addictions. His older brother admonished him never to start either habit and Trump took it to heart. I was surprised by my reaction to the story. It was a surprise to me that he never drank and it was a surprise to me that I had some kind of pre-conceived notion that he was a big shot and as an offshoot of that, would be a big drinker. I don't really know how to express this belated discovery of mine that you can be a successful millionaire and run with famous and important people, and be as "uncool" as to never have drank or smoked. I realized somehow I had been duped by societal norms and expectations. Am I making any sense to anyone? I realized as I thought more about it, that Trump was successful partly and precisely bc he never drank. Say what you will about Trump, I know he is flamboyant and a character. But he is successful to the extreme. I bet we never even would have heard of him if he hadn't listened to his big brother way back when... Any thoughts?
Anyway, that's me for today. Thanks for listening.Last edited by dill; May 5, 2015, 01:03 PM.Dill

Good morning to all...
Cyn, welcome back. Hope your trip was everything you wanted it to be.
Lav, on duty and loving it.
Dill, I have discovered that lots of people don't drink. I was talking to a waitress and she said most people don't drink at her restaurant, a big chain. So, yes, we think lots of people drink all the time, but they don't. Interesting. Donald Trump is not my favorite person, at all, but it is great to know he doesn't drink.
Pauly, glad you are getting through your week well.
Hello to Pap.
Have a good one.

Good morning friends, happy Hump day to all!
I survived my busy day yesterday, but it wasn't easy, ha ha!!
My B/P was very, very good but my heart rate wasn't after two days off my medicine SO I am back on the med, oh well. I was really hoping to be done with that medicine but it's not in the cards.
My daughter & granddaughter kept my busy all afternoon then my grandsons arrived at 5 pm because my son decided to go work an overnight shift at one of his local part time jobs - geez! Finally got them all out of here by 9:30.
Cyn, welcome home, hope you enjoyed your time away!
Now don't go overboard with the yard work, ha ha! I find that stuff will simply wait for me to get around to getting started
I love the 'edible landscaping' trend. We planted those blueberries last year all along one side of the driveway. I hope we get a few berries this year.
Dill, have you ever seen the big list of notables who don't drink? Amazing!
Star, pauly & Papmom, greetings to you!
Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Wednesday!
I'm going to Curves for the first time this week, yay!

Morning all -
Lav - you are just too much. Whew, I don't know how you do it. I'll say it again - those kids are darn lucky to have you be so involved. I know how it is, you want to help them get a leg up - I think it's harder nowadays than when we were young.
But in the boundaries department: I have to say that I drew the line today for going to see SD today and her new apartment in new city. It's an hour and half drive, and it would end up taking the whole day. There's so much I need to get done here - I feel behind on work since I was away, and WE NEED SCREENS put in the windows, I was suffocating yesterday! Anyone know the best way to clean screens? At least I was able to unearth the screen porch yesterday - we had put panels of bubble-wrap on all the screens for a little weather and cold protection. I'm still trying to get as much bush-whacking done before everything completely leafs out. I pulled out a whole stand of ancient raspberries yesterday; never any berries, and they were obstructing my view of the emerging boulders that I uncovered! I'm getting worn out - it's hard being the lone worker when a new season starts. Hoping this year I can lift and divide a lot of ancient perennials...we'll see.
Greetings all - Dill and Star, take care of those sore muscles, and don't overdo! Pap, Jane and Pauly, take care. Happy AF days all.
PS - Dill - amazing about Trump. It could definitely be a key part of his success - he's nutty enough as it is, but he certainly is $$-smart.

Hi All,
The days are continuing to lengthen and tho I welcome the light, I still find the most magical light is during the rising and the setting of the sun. It's funny, but I am finding it hard somehow to adjust to so much daylight!!
Star, Trump is not in my "favorite persons" category either. But he sure knows how to make big bucks, like him or not. I have heard him talk about taking a run for the White House. I sincerely doubt that he will win the nomination. He wouldn't have my vote, that's for sure!
Lav, thanks for that list. I am going to take a look at that later on today. I'm sure it will be interesting! Good news about the BP, but sorry to hear you have to stay on meds for the heart rate. Is there any hope of getting off them in the future?
Cyn, good for you on keeping your boundaries by foregoing the long drive! Very important. You might want to be careful not to over do on the landscaping. I heard a bit of resentment creeping in, if you don't mind my saying. If you do, then smack me! LOL! But you know what resentment can lead to.... Anyway, You don't need to do it all at once. Prioritize and pace yourself. Hire a helper if you need to. Don't wear yourself out!
Papmom, Jane, Pauly, hello!Dill
