Good morning group, happy Friday to all

Glad to hear your report Star.
We have no choice really but to move on & do the best we can do. We owe it to ourselves & I believe it is what our loved ones want for us. Hope your grandson feels better quickly. I received a text message before 8 am from my DIL asking if the oldest EB can spend time here this weekend. His younger brother is going away with the other grandparents. I have no problem with EB, it will be fun. He's heading into 1st grade next week & will be turning 7 in November. He was the motivating factor that finally pushed me into my quit. He's my hero

Greetings Dill, taking the boat out again this weekend?

    Hi there Pauly & Cyn!

Wishing everyone a wonderful AF day!

Hello Star, I'm glad you are working your way back to normal. It takes time. You have really been in my thoughts throughout this process. In a sad way it revived memories of my own losses years ago. I am not a person who deals head on with emotions. I think as a result the healing process takes much longer. Of course, I used our default strategy back then to "cope". It didn't do anything but prolong the process as far as I can tell.

Lav, we are ALL grateful to EB. I remember well when he was born and what a motivation he provided to you at a much needed time in your life. I'm sure you'll enjoy your weekend with him.

Pauly, isn't it funny how we feel guilty if we say no to the baby sitting once in a while? I guess it's normal 'cause 3/3 of us feel it! LOL!

      Hi Cyn!

The lotion recipe is not from scratch actually but is more of a concoction if you will. Here it is:

2 jars of Vitamin E Creme (4 oz each)

2 bottles of baby lotion (15 oz each) (I prefer the lavender & chamomile when I can find it) I found a 30 oz size bottle at Walmart.

1 jar of Vaseline (7.5 oz)

Microwave Vaseline until slightly warm with the lid off. Combine all and mix with mixer until smooth. The empty jars can be used for containers.

The recipe made about 46 oz total so I had to store some in a quart sized plastic container because I didn't have enough small jars. But as I acquire some appropriate jars, I will fill them. I used the emptied jars from the ingredients for a starter. I was grateful that the labels peeled off easily. As I say, it is not from scratch, but it is a really nice combination of ingredients and it is my favorite face/hand creme. I also make a home made facial scrub which is from all natural ingredients which I really love. If anyone is interested I'll put it in my next post. It is from my SIL too.

Morning friends, Star, you're sounding good it does take time to process it all though, I tend to get flashback mourning, I think that's normal though, Dill,I was at Sprouts and I overheard the clerk talking about skin stuff and how she's 52 with no wrinkles and of course I'm nosey so I asked her and she said almond oil,so I bought some but it seems like it just sits on the top of my skin and I look greasy the next day, she also recommended crushed up garbanzo beans from a can for skin discoloration, gross!not trying that one out, skin stuff is so expensive!! I usually get Olay total effects but I don't see a difference, plus there's solo many different ones when you look on the shelf,Lav,have you heard of Emma Deangela?actually maybe I got the link from you, anyways they email me tips on an alkaline diet, helpful hints if I'd use them haha, have fun with your grandson alrighty, hello Cyn and Papmom, off for more coffee, let's have a great Friday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

          Hi all -

Had a good visit with my friend, but she's quite a chatterer and kind of high energy, and honestly, I just didn't have the resources to match her! (Thank goodness I'm not a Grandma, I would totally wimp out!) Until I figure out how to get my energy back and my back and neck fixed, I'm just not able to 'rise to the occasion' very comfortably. But all worked out. Lots of driving, though - down to New Haven to drop her at the train to Boston (4 hours RT) and then up to a town in MA to see a reading of a play of a friend (2 hours RT). Too much for my system, I am wiped out today. Have had at least a 2 hour drive each day this week. I'm staying put today.

Star - glad to hear you are getting good sleep. Wonderful

Dill - a boat sounds great! I may go to the local lake and just look at the water for awhile.

Lav - GOOD FOR YOU for saying 'no' (once!) to the boys coming over. Hope you enjoy EB

Pauly - I'll check out that alkaline link, thanks. Hope all is going well for you.

It's a sunny and cool day here - I'm sorry that I don't have the energy or muscle freedom to do some garden work; it sounds like it's going to get hot again soon. So many nasties are going to seed and have to be pulled up! If I can this afternoon, I'll try to get some of the worst of it pulled...

Hope everyone has a great AF Friday - cheers -

              Morning all -

Pauly, that's a big schedule! I'm sure I couldn't manage it - good for you! I hope you feel better soon.

Gorgeous cool, sunny day here. I'm going to try to do a little yard work. I still seem to be very tired and in pain whether I do anything or not - maybe getting moving will help. Later today I'll pack up the pups and we'll go to Mr T's rental cottage for the night. That will be a nice change of pace. And maybe even breakfast out tomorrow morning - my favorite.

Hope everyone is well and also enjoying this great weather. Lav, how did you do with the full moon? I slept OK last night. The moon was really gorgeous in the clouds at 10 PM...

Finally figured out Apple TV at our house. Found a PBS mystery that I've been looking for; Miss P???'s detective agency. Takes place in Melbourne, Australia in the early 20s - the protagonist wear amazing clothes! It's a little 'glossy' for my taste, but I may stick with it. But I also found Foyle's War, which I look forward to seeing again, I think that was a terrific series.

Hope everyone has a wonderful AF Saturday -

                Good morning friends!

The moon has been annoying me most of the week Cyn, ha ha!
I actually sat outside for a while last evening & enjoyed the view but it always interferes with my sleep. I never thought I'd be so sensitive, LOL
I hope you enjoy your weekend, take it easy, OK?

I am ready for some fun with EB without his little brother under foot. Not sure yet what we are doing but I'll find something fun
Greetings to Pauly, Dill, Star & anyone stopping by today.

Have a great AF day one & all!

I have not been out in the night time and was totally unaware that the moon was full! When I looked at the calendar just now they have the 29th as being the full moon, so you are maybe going to have another bad night tonight, Lav. I hope not! Have a good time with your EB.

Cyn, maybe the fatigue and pain is a delayed reaction to your hyper busy few weeks. I hope you get to feeling better. Moving around and doing a little light work might actually be just what you need. I find it helps me to feel more connected and grounded when I can get some simple chores done around home. I don't know anything about Apple TV, but I do know that I loved the Foyle's War series! Did you happen to catch the season one of The Crimson Field series on PBS this past summer? It was really good. Poldark, also on PBS was excellent too. I'm sure you would like both.

Pauly, Almond oil? My home made facial scrub is made up mostly of coconut oil, but that is a solid. Is almond oil in a solid form too?

Hi Star, hope all is well in your world.

Suddenly the HOT weather is back. YUCK. We go to grandson's first home game tonight and the weather is supposed to be hot and maybe rain. I hope all goes well.
                  Have a great weekend everyone.

                    Hello ladies...

Dill, it is hot here too again. I babysat yesterday afternoon, took him to the park, and we were drenched from the humidity. He's bee sick, so we were only out for about 45 minutes, for something to do. I had fun, and love him so much. Have fun at grandson's game. Thanks for the lotion mix, it sounds interesting and with the amount you made, something that can last a long time. I would love the other recipe too, if you can.

Lav, it is great to hear that your grandchildren love being with you and at your home. One on one time would be fun. Have a good one.

Cyn, you are the busiest person I know, does the pain happen when you slow down? I had a massage last weekend and it really helped to relax me and also to not form knots in the area between my neck and shoulders. That is what happens to me when I get stressed out. Maybe a massage could help. They are so relaxing.

Pauly, hope you feel better. You are a great grandma and we all have too let them watch a little TV. It is just when that is ALL they do that it is bad. Lots of colds and viruses going around in the Midwest, too. Feel better soon.

Woke up really early today, went to bed at 10. Slept well though, the moon does not affect me that I know of. I love this time of year, it is so noisy outside, still warm, but nature is starting to change. Have a good one.

                      Good Sunday morning friends

Said heat wave is is the way here as well. Never fails, the minute the kids go back to school the weather heats up. We did not have AC in schools back in the old days, ha ha!!

I have had fun with EB this weekend. He slept until 8:30 this morning & is now parked in front of an episode of Sponge Bob Square Pants - what a dumb show, LOL
He starts 1st grade tomorrow so he may as well do what he wants today.

Dill, I slept better last night despite the full moon, yay!

Star, glad you had some grandson time too
I was in my garden last night cutting down spent blooms on perenials - definitely a pre-fall activity.

Pauly, I hope you are feeling OK. Getting allergies & food intolerances under control goes a long way in the self care department.

How about you Cyn? Has the heat hit your area yet? Hope you are catching up & getting some rest.

OK, off to make pancakes or something.
Have a great AF day everyone!

Morning friends, Lav,I agree spongebob is dumb, been around since my kids were growing up, luckily Louie hates it haha, was watching him last night and his other gramma came by so hubs could look at her car,Louie went rushing into her arms and when she left he said he wanted her,I had the nerve to feel jealous!! especially since I have him waaaay more than she does, I want to be numero uno, then I thought of how selfish that is and came to realize that he's lucky to have 2 gramma to love, growing up I only had one,my white gramma lived in Wisconsin and I never seen her ever, shed send gifts but I'd have loved to have her in my life, hello to all,I hope everyone is having a lovely Sunday

Hello friends, really busy day here. Both gkids came home with us after the game last night and it turned into a late night because of the time of the game. They were both up early today and it's been go, go, go around here all day. They just left and I am exhausted! So is Mr. D, but it was a great visit so I'm not complaining in the least!

Star, I don't intend to use all that lotion myself! I made it for gifts for the kids teachers and for family and friends at Christmas and other special occasions. I'm glad you had a nice time with your grandson. They do love the simple things at that age.

Lav, maybe the cloud cover is what saved you from sleep disturbance due to the full moon. As for me, I ended up not sleeping well because of the thunderstorm that came thru some time after midnight. I had to get up and close windows and then dash out on the deck to put down our canopy. The winds were really something! I was up and down at least 3 times in the night, so I'm hoping to make up for it tonight!

Pauly, I understand how you must have felt when your Louie made such a fuss about his other granmother. But it sounds to me that you spend more time with him and she much less, making her more of a "novelty" which might have made the difference. I didn't have any grandparents when I was a kid. They were all gone by the time I was two years old. I always wished I had had that experience in my life.

Hi Cyn, I hope you are feeling more energized and comfortable. Thinking of you!

I hope all are enjoying a peaceful AF Sunday evening.

                            Hi all -

Just got home a bit ago from taking the dogs to visit Mr T in his rental 1.5 hours away. We took off last evening, and met him in his town (he works 6 days a week on this job). I brought the dogs, as they have only seen him one overnight in 6 weeks, and they get blue when they don't see him. But it was a challenge; the rental doesn't have a great area for them to 'go' in, and it has steep steps that neither dog can cope with...so, it was a bit of a challenging time, but all in all we thought it was worth it this afternoon when we parted. (Maybe it was the full moon, but boy dog had to get up in the night twice, girl dog had coughing fits all night, and they were up EARLY!) Oh well!

Dill, I think much of the fatigue has been due to overwork/anxiety since about the beginning of March. The neck and back issues happened while we were abroad - carrying our suitcases up 3 flights of stairs and sleeping on a slab resulted in a bad neck, and my back went south after that. But I think the work my naturopath did helped, and I think gardening yesterday helped. With fibromyalgia, movement is key - too much time in the car this last week certainly didn't help. Star, I'm so glad that you got a massage - good for you! Since I have fibro, I have to be careful - a massage can make me feel much worse than better sometimes. But I'm going to try some Epsom-salt hydrotherapy...

Hope everyone has a good night. I'm enjoying a soft rain here - the heat will be upon us tomorrow, so I'm savoring the air...

                              Good morning ladies...

Feeling good, up early, it is Monday, so off to work.

Cyn, feel better, and if possible, take it easy for the afternoon if you can.

Lav, great you had such a lovely visit.

Dill, we were exhaussted after the visit too. I need to go to work and relax! Seriously, chasing around after a young one is work, active work. I actually twisted my knee, picking him up and standing from the floor. It's better already with rest.

Pauly, hoppe you are feeling better and have a great week. I think kids have eough love to stretch to as many grandparents as they have. We are both lucky because we are the grandmothers who get to see them the most. We know them.

OK, off to start my week with some good strong coffee. Have a great last day of August. Hint, Hint: name for September. Significant, Sweet, Sober, Super, OK I am out of ideas. Have a good one.

So today marks the first day of 1st grade for one & the first day of pre-K for another with the last guy starting his pre-K program next week!! Talk about busy!!!

Cyn, I hope you can get control of the aches & pains. It seems like once they take over it's really difficult to get on top of things again
I know I feel MUCH better when I stay in motion!

                                Hi there Dill & Pauly!
