    Sizzling September

    Good morning ladies...

It ishot and humid here to day, the crickets are loud and we are heading slowly but surely into fall. Good for all of us.

Lav, what a turning point, the grandkids in school. It has gone really fast, hasn't it? How wonderful you have been AF for years, able to enjoy all three of them, and being there emotionally and physically. I think of the same thing for myself, and it is all good.

Cyn, good luck at the naturopath, hope it went well for youi. This time of year is the best.

Dill, I am reading a book called Ink and Honey, about nuns in the 13th century. I'll let you know if it is any good. I was too tired to read much last night.

Pauly, isn't life so much better AF? I just hate the ups and downs of drinking, (to put it mildly), and the intense anxiety, physical aches, pains, nausea, etc. Yuck. Hope you have a great day.

    HAve a good one!!!!

Happy September friends still can't believe it, seems the first part of the new year always goes by kinda slow then June hits and zooooom! Louie and I were at the 99 cent store the other day and they already have a huge Halloween aisle,he wanted to go down it but I said I'm just not ready for that yet haha,Dill probably is with her zombies haha,I tried watching the Walking Dead cuz my girls love it and said I probably would but I just couldn't get into it,I need to find some good shows to be addicted to but usually just watch the food network, I'm tired of "cutthroat kitchen" though it used to be my fave now its gotten boring,I guess they can only come up with so many sabotages and then run out of ideas,Lav,how was your grandson's first day?good I hope, yes Star,AF life is better,I just really hope I can keep the positive thoughts in place,I cleared all of August so that's a good thing if my kids would be normal I'd probably be even more positive but being a mom their problems feel like my problems, or maybe I'm just too nosy!anyways hello to all, let's have a wonderful Tuesday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Yay - Septemeber is here :yay:
It's still hot as hell but at least we can begin to look for better weather conditions.

Thanks for starting us up Star
I think Sizzling was the right choice for the month!
Life is good without AL, no doubt. I can't believe these years have flown by & I have enjoyed every moment with the grandkids. EB's first day of first grade went well. Today I had to be at their house to walk him to his bus stop for an 8:10 pick up time. I have the other little guy with me all day & soon we will drive back to meet EB when he gets home. I never would have imagined myself so involved with kids again atthis point in my life, but it's all good. Glad you are sounding well.

Pauly, my supermarket Giant has had Halloween candy displayed for several weeks. Really?? I guess they want you to buy, eat & keep buying more until Halloween finally does get there. I don't think so
Besides, there is no trick-or-treating out here in cow country so I don't need to buy any anyway, ha ha!!!
Keeping our thoughts & actions positive is vital in maintaining our quits. The moment I start to feel a little moody I force myself right back into the positive zone. It works

Hello to Dill & Cyn! Hope you ladies are having a good day!

Cyn, your doggie picture was wonderful - really enjoyed finally getting a good glimpse of the two who eep you on your toes!

Have a great rest of the day!

Thanks for starting us up, Star! Your book sounds interesting - I am the same way, I get a couple of paragraphs in, and then the eyes close and the book slips to the bed. I'm glad if you are able to get some rest; you need it.

Wow, Lav. Over at their house by 8 AM? Taking care of the little guy? Yes, you are really involved! Your kids and grandkids are SO lucky.

Hi Dill - hope all is well. I think of you every time I'm in our little store here - they have armloads of local dill standing 3 feet tall in buckets, just ready for getting pickles and everything else done. I've never pickled a thing in my life, but the dill is gorgeous.

Pauly - It's just cruel, isn't it, how the stores want us to keep our sugar intake high. Really hard to walk by those aisles, but so worth not giving in. Good for you for keeping the positive vibes going - take it right on into September!

Saw my naturopath today, and got the low-down. Health still is not bouncing back, so I may get into some deeper tests, but I'm holding onto an OK status quo. She worked a lot on my neck and back - whoo! I drove the 45 minutes home, thought 'maybe I'll lie down for a minute', and woke up 2 hours later. So, I guess I must have needed that.

This evening I took the dogs for a drive (to CVS in the next town - to get my HRT, Lav!) and the light, and the sky and the trees and the clouds were just beautiful. I stopped by our local lake as well, and thought of you Dill; 3 ladies were headed out in an adorable 18 ft covered Pontoon, probably to watch the sunset. What a great idea. I'm trying to get as much 'water' energy into every day as I can - sure wish I had a paddleboard, those things look so peaceful.

Here's the pic of my pooches enjoying the loveseat on the deck (they're the only creatures that sit there!)

Have a great AF night, all -

Thanks for starting us up this month, Star. The name certainly fits fffffffffffffor now as far as the weather goes. Sheesh! It's supposed to clime up to near 90 today! The book sounds interesting. I'm still in the middle of Tulip Fever. I stalled out for some reason but will get back to it today. It's too hot to be outside so reading will be a good activity. I haven't been enjoying this boodk as much as I did her Exotic Maricol Hotel book.

Cyn, that's so funny that you think of me when you see buckets of dill at the store! I never made any pickels either, except for pickled eggs. Thanks for the pic of your dogs. They are beautiful! I smiled when you said they are the only ones who ever sit on the loveseat on the deck. I remember when I used to work and would come home to see the dog lying on top of the picnic table just enjoying the heck out of our wonderful yard and I would think how funny. Mr> D and I were working all day long so that the queen could live the high life! LOL!

Lav, Halloween is quiet here too. That's a benefit of living out in the country! I have no interest in the Halloween candy aisle! Unfortunately I have a ton of candy bars here anyway. Grandson had to sell candy bars for a fundraiser for his football league. Ugh! I bought 20! It's a lifetime supply for me, LOL.

Pauly, You must be feeling pretty good about your August achievement! Very well done! I don't have any problem watching scary shows before I go to bed. I am not a fan of gorey movies in general, but the Walking Dead series is much more than just zombies. They do a great job on character development and story lines, plus they really do a great job on building tension and suspense. It made my friends at work laugh years ago when I told them I was a fan of the show. It didn't fit their image of me, the nice soft-spoken speech therapist who worked with preschoolers! LOL But then some of them came back to me the next year and told me they got hooked on the show during summer reruns!

I'm wondering if Papmom will rejoin us here now that summer activities are coming to a close. I hope she does.

Have a happy af hump day everyone!
              Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                Good morning friends!

The heat wave (90+ days) continues. Ugh!

I have made pickles twice this summer. One batch of bread & butter style & one batch of garic dill I gave away as many cucumbers as I could & gave quite a few to the chickens. They mae good refrigerated snacks for the chickens when it's hot out, ha ha!!

I saw Papmom on FB yetserday posting pictures of herself & her dogs. She has been very busy taking them to different doggy events.

Hi there Star, Pauly & Cyn
I hope everyone has a great AF Tuesday. I need to get to Curves & have a chat with the franchise owner. She sent an email last night telling all of us that she is putting the club up for sale. That came out of no where

Hello friends, Lav,its Wednesday (I hope?)I wonder why she's selling her Curves? Hopefully someone else picks up the franchise and it doesn't close,I skipped my exercise this morning and just don't feel right! Dill,I usually watch"Forensic Files" before bed and while its not gory, the stories are unsettling sometimes, my daughters say the same thing you did about "Walking dead" its got a good storyline, plus they think one of the guys is cute, not sure which one haha,so crazy on Monday I had Louie and his nose was bugging him, he kept trying to blow it or rub in on my shirt(brat) I figured he had allergies too,so yesterday I had him and we were watching his curious George and he had a huge sneeze and a wad of gunk hit his leg,I picked it up with a tissue and seen it was toilet paper!he's been shoving it up his nose I guess,I told Kell to watch him around the t.p.alrighty hello to all off to get ready, have a great Wednesday everyone

Pauly, you just brought back a memory for me!
My daughter was 2 when I took her to the doctor wondering why one side of her nose was dripping during a cold but the other wasn't. It just looked weird. Yeah, he got up there with a flashlight & a pair of tweezers & yanked out a huge piece of tissue or TP she had stuffed in her nose, ha ha!! I had forgtten all about that. Kids do the dumbest stuff, ha ha!
I did reaize it was Wednesday during my drive home from Curves - duh.
I talked to the owner about her impending departure. We are exactly the same age & she said she feels that she's done all with it (the franchise) that she can do. She opened it in 2009 after retiring from a long time job elsewhere. The franchise needs to be marketed more & she doesn't have the ambition for that. I totally get that

Just had my heater serviced for the winter. I figure it will get cold here at some point, ha ha! It's still >90 degrees here today.
OK, once again, have a great HUMP Day everyone!

                      Hi kids!

Gosh this day went super-fast! I had to get an invoice off to my summer client (err, it helps to invoice people so that I can get paid!). I loathe all the work that goes into making an invoice - if I would just keep up on a daily basis it wouldn't be such a chore. But I did the best I could in July...I survived, and that's saying something.

Then was asked for input having to do with a big personnel change for the festival that I work in August. I'm one of the senior people there (!) and I have lots of opinions about what could work better, so that document was a serious endeavor. I took a break in the middle of it to take the boy dog (silver one) to the vet for a chiropractic. yes, you read that right, doggy chiropractic. He's the dog with the wacky leg, and chiro really helps everything for him. So he and I are chiro buds! He got me up at 4:30 this AM for a potty break, then girl dog's tummy was a growling mess at 5:30, so it was an interrupted night. I hope they get settled down soon, I'm becoming a real morning crank! But I must say that the moon and the stars were pretty wonderful, and I wouldn't have seen them otherwise...

Hope all have a great AF Wed night -

Really hot and humid here, I was outside for a time yesterday and it wiped me out. Enjoying the corn and tomatoes right now, I love the produce, it is so fresh!

                        Have a good one.

                          Good morning friends!

Yep, the heat wave continues here as well Star - nasty out there!

Cyn, getting those invoices out is a big pain BUT if we want to get paid.......
I totally agree with you!! Being self employed is fun but sometimes it isn't
I know a lady aroud here who takes her dog to her chiro too. Fortunately it's a small dog so she can pick him up & carry him when his hind legs go out. Hope your doggie is better now.

Star, I have been making big bowls of cucumber & tomato salad, seems to keep well in the fridge for several days. I know I will miss the summer veggies when they are gone. I did sign up for another winter share of the CSA. The Amish farmers keep it interesting thru the winters around here

I have the day free to do what I want/need to do but the boys will be here for dinner & evening. I have their favorite turkey meatballs left over in the fridge, yay!
Greetings to Dill & Pauly. Hope you are both well.

Have a great AF Thursday everyone!

                            Hi all -

Star, so glad you are having good vegies! It really makes summer special, doesn't it? Lav - turkey meatballs, I'll be right over. It's been too hot here in my un-airconditioned kitchen to do much cooking. I've done some vegies for the dogs in the pressure cooker, but that's about it. Tonight I ate the pureed carrots I made for the dogs...along with 1/2 avocado, refried Pinto beans and a couple of slices of non-sulfite ham. Weird, but easy and it actually tasted pretty good. My tomatoes are coming in, but I'm steering clear of them until I get this neck and back issue figured out - just in case arthritis is an issue and the tomatoes exacerbate it.

Did another 2 hr stint of bush-whacking this morning, trying to get the worst of the blooming invasives into the leaf paper bags before they blow all their horrible seeds around. Sometimes I wonder if it does any good; but this is the first time in 3 years that I've been able to get to it in a timely fashion, so maybe it will actually do some good...

Worked the rest of the day until now, and my eyes are starting to close, so I'll say good night all and wish everyone a happy Friday in the morning.

                              Good morning all...

Friday, and the beginning of a long weekend. Love it.

Cyn, it would be hard for me to manage with no air conditioning, you are a warrior. Your dinner sounded good, I just had my tomatoes and cheese last night, and relaxed with a good book. No yard work for me anymore, this yard is so small. I loved the sounds of the cicadas, crickets, and the heavy feel of the night. I love this time of year.

Lav, tomatoes and cucumber salad sounds good! Have fun with your grandsons. We are getting our new mattress delivered tonight, I am glad. I woke up with a back ache, extra early. Any plans this weekend?

Dill and Pauly, have a good one too.
