Hi Friends, wow Lav, so sorry to hear of your very bad experience with the web page! I think setting up a facebook page sounds like a good idea. Let us know if you do go that route sometime.

Cyn, sorry you felt so poorly over the weekend. Hope you are better today. Did you miss my question a post or so ago about Game of Thrones. You mentioned (I think) a book that the serious may have been based on. What was it called?

Star, I took a page out of your book and did some retail therapy today. Feeling pretty good right now. I mostly bought stuff for the grandkids, but I liked all the things I bought. Hope you keep finding balance.

Hiya Pauly, hope all is well with you.

Not much going on here. Loving the weather tho! Happy AF Monday.
      Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

        hi all -

Late checkin for me, and then believe it or not, I'm off to bed! I just can't seem to get enough energy going to do much. I should finish those curtains tonight, but my back and neck have still been a bother all day, and I'm just tired of 'toughing it out'. I did manage some more invasive-control...it doesn't seem to make a difference whether I am active or just sitting...

Dill, the man who created Game of Thrones credits this French author with writing the first multi-century set of novels about Thrones. I can't remember the author's name at the moment, but the one I read was The Iron King. And the amazing thing about his set of books is that it is historical - all the crazy stuff in the books actually happened! (As opposed to Game of Thrones). But I would like to find a way to see those videos, or maybe I should read those books. I was never interested, until I heard a historian's interview on NPR, and he was asked what historians like to watch - and he said 'Game of Thrones'!

Lav - you'll love that cake! Next time I'll make it with brown rice syrup instead of the honey. I don't always love that much honey in a recipe. Sorry to hear about your website, a similar thing happened to me. WordPress is so easy to use that now I set up my own website, and take care of all the content. I have a FB business page, but have never made it 'public'...maybe now's the time. Have you tried out Etsy? That seems like it would be a good outlet for you...

Star - isn't it dreamy when the weather is just perfect!? I love the feeling of gratitude at those moments... Take care of yourself.

Pauly - hope all is well.

Take care all, and see you on Tuesday --

          Good morning...

Busy day yesterday, and another one today. Work, then out to dinner, last night I did not get home till 8, that is not something I am used to. I slept so well last night, now trying to wake up with this great coffee we found at a tourist town. Again, the weather is just perfect, highs in the 70s, sunny, breezy, just love it.

Lav, that is terrible that someone took your money and ran. What a fool. I guess it would be easy to do on the internet thought. How could you go after them? HOpe your day was good.

Cyn, so sorry to hear about your ongoing pain...hard to live with after a time, it is so tiring. Take care of yourself. Sounds like working outside is therapeutic for you. Hope your weather is beautiful too.

Dill, I love shopping for kid clothes, toys, etc. Glad you had fun. Grandma's get to buy that special stuff.

Pauly, I read on another thread you are having a tough time. Don't hesitate to share with us if it helps. If not, know we care about you and send you support.

To all, have a good one.

            Good morning friends,

            Sunny & 55 degrees - perfect

Ended up with the grandsons here for 2+ hours last evening, oh boy!
Looks like warmer weather is returning tomorrow & it's the middle of September already.

Dill, I'm liking the idea of starting some holiday shopping but don't know what to get anyone yet. I need to pester people to get some ideas

Cyn, I hope you got some decent rest. It's not easy dragging yourself around day after day. I like to shake up my diet & supplements from time to time, seems to help. This week I am going completely vegan, ha ha!! The meat eaters can eat what they want. I just know I feel better when I eat less & I know it's better for my bones. The 'Save Our Bones' program taught me the value of consuming less acidic, animal products. I aim for a 80/20 balance of alkaline/acidic foods. That balance makes me feel pretty good

Star, I let go of the anger about my poor little website a long time ago. The guy was actually someone YB recommended so it was a total surprise when the guy disappeared. No one knows where he went (at least that's what I am told).
Hope your day is a good one!

Pauly, we're all thinking about you!

Have a great day everyone. I have lots of busy stuff to do to keep me out of trouble!

Hello Friends, another beautiful day here. I haven't checked the calendar lately but we must be in a new moon phase bc I went out very early this morning and it was so dark and all the stars were shining so brightly. I loved it.

Thanks for telling me the name of that book Cyn. I found the author's name as a result. I can't recall it right at the moment tho! LOL! I think I'll try to get a copy of The Iron King from the library if I can. When you mentioned thinking you might like to watch "those videos" were you referring to the Game of Thrones episodes? If so, I recommend that you check your library. I found all of them available in our county library system. I do hope you find some relief for your neck and back pain, and soon! Is it degenerative disc disease do you think?

Lav, I spent the morning putting up apple sauce. We had 4 5 gallon buckets full and now we are down to one bucket. The sauce turned out really great. I decided to freeze as opposed to putting it up in jars. I would have been at it all day if we'd have canned.

Star, Speaking of great coffee, I had a great cup yesterday at Tim Horton's. Do you have any of those near you? Their coffee is so good! I don't really care much for their baked goods, but they do have good breakfast sandwiches and I like their soups, too. We are heading into Fall festival season. I am hoping to go to the Bob Evans Farm festival in October. Have you got any Fall plans?

Pauly, I do hope you are doing better. I haven't been lookiing around on other threads lately but I have definitely missed you here and have been thinking about you.

Mr. D installed a surveillance camera today. I'm not sure what got into him. We haven't had any reports of increased crime or break ins in our area. Must be the news in general that has him on edge.

Have a great AF Tuesday everyone.

Hello friends, Dill,I've been laying low after a fall on Friday too embarrassed, want to put it in the past but also figure out what I'm doing wrong, maybe I was worn down from being sick for so long, maybe all of the HALT signs were there but I ignored them,I'm just glad I didn't turn it into a bender,I was able to stop, however now I'm overanalyzing it and what I'll do next time,I've been so happy regardless of feeling congested and yuck,we've been having good quality time as a family, I've been cracking funny jokes (to me anyways haha) everything was running pretty darn good,I wonder how I could let one,out of the blue yuck day bring me down? I know it would have past, grr, hello to all, hope everyone has had a nice Tuesday, btw,new moon was Sunday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

                  hello all -

Nite nite! Sorry to be writing so late each day, it's just working out that way. Lav - I'll check out Save our Bones. I got Dexascan results today, and I have mild osteopenia. I'm not surprised, as years ago I was diagnosed with near-osteoporosis. I did the drug treatment for 5 years, and then all was back to normal. I already eat almost entirely alkaline foods, except for some meat. I've tried doing some vegan episodes, but I really get weak, and since my weight (under) is still a pretty big issue, I'm sticking with clean, low-fat organic meats, not every day but most days. Fortunately we are so close to bunches of organic farms here that have clean food. That's a real gift.

I saw my naturopath/bodyworker, and she did quite a treatment on me today. I feel better this evening, so hopefully my body will integrate all these changes well. I'm changing so many things here at home - my office set up, the kitchen setup (figured out a way to do dishes without bending over the sink, which is really painful), I squat now instead of bending over to pick up things - I'm getting a whole new workout! And yes, Star, you are right, I really do love being outdoors and doing work that I can easily see the results of...

Dill, yes I meant Game of Thrones. I'll look around for it, though I rarely watch anything these days. I hope you can find The Iron King - if not, let me know, I can send you my copy. Wow, that's alot of apples! I used to make a great apple butter...hmmmm, wish I could get motivated now to make that, but....probably not!

Pauly - get right back on that Sober horse and keep riding. You can do it.

Wishing all a great evening and a terrific AF Hump Day -

                    Good morning...

Pauly, so happy to hear from you and know you are OK. Sending you support and positive energy.

Dill, no coffee shops that you mentioned around here, but lots of starbucks and caribou coffee. I usually split half a pot of coffee with my husband in the morning, then no more for the rest of the day. Yesterday had ice tea with my dinner (went with my friend, ate outside it was lovely) and couldn't get to sleep last night. So, I have to be care not to have caffeine after lunch or I can't sleep.

Lav, how interesting to change up your diet, I need to do something like that too.

Cyn, glad to hear you have a good doctor to help you with the pain. Take care.

Off to work soon, another lovely weather day. Have a good one.

Good morning friends. Is it really hump day already?
I'm really liking these cool mornings, love Fall!

Dill, nice job on the applesauce, yum. Our two apple trees have been destroyed by deer & stink bugs so no apples for us. No peaches or pears either come to think of it, oh well. There are plenty of orchards around so I'll buy some.

Pauly, what do you have on your game plan today?

Cyn, glad your naturopath helped you out! Living with chronic pain is exhausting & depressing. Thinking back to the last few years of my Mom's life, they were awful. Her RA was brutal & she dealt with fracture pain from osteoporosis. Hence my mission to find a better way.
When you look at www.saveourbones.com you will be amazed with the new info & research!!

Star, I've mixed up regular & decaf coffee for years to avoid problems. I make decaf iced tea at home but I know you usually can't get it when you go out. Bummer!
I hope you have a great day.

                      Have a good day everyone!

                        Hello Friends,
Pauly, it's a process so don't give yourself a hard time. I think it's wonderful that you didn't let it turn into a bender, as you say. That would have been really bad. Just do as you are doing: learn and try to avoid the same mistake next time.

Lav, so today it was apple dumplings, LOL! We aren't going to be able to use that last bucket before they go bad so I guess at some point I'm going to peel, cut and freeze them. Maybe I'll get up the gumption to make some apple butter. We shall see! Oh, and I've been mixing my coffee for years too making half caf!

Star, too bad you don't have the Tim Hortons. They are much more affordable than Caribou and Starbucks and as I said, the coffee is good. It's not the kind of place you get flavored coffees and latte's etc. It's just a basic coffee place. Like you I cannot drink anything with caffeine in it at my evening meal or I will pay for it. In fact I don't drink any caffeinated drinks past noon, including soda.

Cyn, I hope your naturopath's tretment yesterday helped you with your chronic pain and that you felt even further improvement today! Also, I did manage to get The Iron King from the library but had to get it through interlibrary loan. It'll be a few days before it arrives.

Another gorgeous day and evening. Enjoy a peaceful af evening.

                          Hello Star and Lav -

Star, you lucky duck, Caribou coffee! That used to be my favorite when I lived in the upper midwest. I traveled alot then, and my special treat at the airport would be a coffee and a slice of their gingerbread - that made it all worth it.
Hope you are having nice cool mornings - it got hot here this afternoon, but already the evening is liveable.

Lav - I will check out the site tonight. I just made a recipe of white beans with garlic, sage and olive oil - not a big pot, just a little (I actually stole some of the dog's beans before they were done cooking!). I was thinking of an incredible meal that we had in Italy, way out in the middle of nowhere in the countryside. We just happened to drive by and were hungry, so we stopped. It was so memorable...and this little bowl of perfectly cooked beans, swathed in excellend Tuscan olive oil, with melty garlic in the mix. Ohhh, I just had to try to make it! My version turned out pretty well, considering. I'll cook it a little longer next time.

Seems like I've gotten some pretty good relief from the pain. I was out taking seed pods off of the most offending invasives (trying not to bend over!) and I got some upper shoulder twinges, but I seem to be doing OK now. Do you all know about the Google timer? You can set it for whatever time you want, and it has a great little annoying beeper to get your attention when the time is up. I've used it today to remind me to get up from the computer every half hour, to go get drink of water, to make a phone call, to feed the neighbor's dog, etc. What a great tool!

Dill and Pauly, I hope that you've had good days today. Pauly, sending you special good wishes! Have a good Thursday, all ---

Hello friends, Dill,I'm jealous of all of your apples! Speaking of Starbucks, my son got me a gift card for them for my birthday so I decided to use it this morning, their coffee is too expensive and I've since found 2 other coffee places I like much better, cheaper too so after the card is done I'm banning them! Glad your pain is easing Cyn started a gratitude journal today,I figure if I write 5 things in the morning and 5 in the evening I'll stop taking things for granted,I have a lot to be grateful for, best to not forget that hello to Lav,Star, hope everyone has a peaceful evening

                                Good morning all...

Up way too early, not sure why! Beautiful weather here, starting to get hotter in the afternoon, but yesterday evening was so lovely.

Lav, hope you are enjoying this weather, it is just perfect. Then, I understand it is supposed to cool off, in the 70s next week, even better.

Dill, nice you are busy with apples, sounds so good and I bet the smells are heavenly.

Pauly, I have been trying to make gratitude lists too, though more informally, when I am driving back and forth to work. We do have so much to be grateful for on a daily basis. It is amazing how we can change our mood by the thoughts we choose to think. I have been in a funk off and on for the last few days, and know some strategies I can use to feel better. Sometimes they work, other times not as well. We just have to keep on trying. Another thing I kind of noticed, when I am really feeling irritable, crabby, whatever, I might need to take a nap. Sometimes that helps me too. Not easy if you are at work though. Hope you have a good day.

Cyn, good to hear you are getting some pain relief. Take care. Are you reading anything good? I ordered some books and I 'm waiting for them to come by snail mail. The evenings and mornings are gorgeous. I love this time of year. The bean dish you described sounded so good.

                                Have a good one.
