Hello friends,
Busy day yesterday with breakfast out, shopping then picking up gdaughter. It was a gorgeous day so a walk in the woods was in order. We found our way to a little creek and let her walk in it with her farm boots on but she slipped and down she went! LOL, her first official 'soaker'.
She's here for most of today too, so this is just a quick check in for me before she wakes up. Star, Lav, Pauly, Hope you all are enjoying this fall weather too.Dill

Good Sunday morning friends!
Woke up to a sunny 45 degrees - great sleeping weather
Pauly, I hope your head didn't explode!
I used to use an OTC called Premysn. It took care of that bloating & PMS related headache. My daughter is using it now & it helps her out too.
I hope your weather gives you a break too.
Dill, sounds like you had a nice 'girlie' day yesterday!
My daughter & granddaughter are coming over today. I'm sure we'll find something to get into around here
Hi there Star, what's on your plan today?
Wishing yo a safe trip today Cyn!
Have a great AF Sunday everyone!

Good morning...
Wow, the site made me reregister, new password, etc., What a pain in the neck. However, it was worth it.
No plans today, I had a difficult day yesterday. My eyesight became cloudy, I went to the crappy place I had been to, they examined my eyes and had no idea. I am going to be referred to a specialist this week. Luckily, I woke up this morning and it was gone. I think it was extreme eye strain due to wrong prescription for my contacts. Again, I have the worst luck with doctors-anykind now. Slept in then came here and POW, wouldn't let me in.
Beautiful weather, I want to work in a walk today if I can. Other than that, I cleaned yesterday, laundry, and rested.
Dill, have fun with granddaughter, you to Lav.
Cyn, safe trip.
Pauly, hope you feel better.
Have a good one.

Hello All,
Star, that's strange that they made you reregister. I wonder what the heck that was about! I'm glad you made the effort and are back here with us. Wow, you were up early this morning! I was just the opposite and slept in. Your post this morning starting out with "Monday, Monday..." reminded me of the Mama's and Papa's song lyric, "Monday, Monday, can't trust that day. Monday, Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way." Did you used to listen to the Mama's and Papa's or was that a little before your time? I loved them.
Here's a link if you have time: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h81Ojd3d2rY
Pauly, Ha! You made me laugh when you said your Mom would look in every nook and cranny! Do you really think she will or are you just paranoid about it? I visit my daughter and don't go thru her stuff but I must admit to getting into a few closets and cabinets at my son's apartment. Mostly that is to see what he might need or to help him organize some. He's horrible at organizing a living space. I try not to get to pushy about it tho because I don't want him to feel like I'm too nosy and pushy. Because I know I would not like that for myself. My Mom was good that way. She kept clear boundaries.
Lav, how about that dexa? Results yet? Did you have a good day yesterday with the girls? We had a good day yesterday watching footbal and having a family meal. Also lots of time outside with gdaughter. I am going to miss the nice weather on her behalf! She loves the out-of-doors. My son and grandson were over for awhile in the afternoon too to visit and pick her up to go home. We all watched the Bengal's game together which went into OT. It was a nail-biter but the Bengals won in OT so everyone was happy. I was happy for a different reason. I was feeling grateful for a "normal" Sunday afternoon. I was grateful to have everyone together, to hear my son laugh with real joy. To see the grandkids smile and laugh and clap with their Dad. To see Mr. Dill and his son together, rooting their team on. Small things, but not. They are the stuff that make all the difference, you know?
Cyn, I hope you are enjoying your trip and seeing all your friends. I went out to look at the moon a couple of mornings ago and it was a sliver and looked like the smile of the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. Venus was spectacular and there was another star that was really bright too. What a gorgeous sight!.
Not much going on here today but cleaning and straightening and a trip to the library. Sounds perfect. Have a great AF Monday everyone.Dill

Good Monday morning friends
We've got a sunny 46 degree start here - nice!!
Yep, had the house full yesterday & I was on the go all day long. Tiring but satisfying at the end of teh day.
I don't have any test results yet Dill. I've been trying to make an appt to see my NP to get in for a B/P check & a flu shot, hopefully soon. Regardless of the results I will NOT go back on any Rx meds for osteoporosis!!!
Hi there Star, glad you are still with us, geez! I think the IT folks have a few glitches to work out around the site. I've been waking up a bit earlier myself but I am also sleeping better now that the cooler weather has moved in so I don't mind.
Pauly, I hope you get some coolness in your desert state soon
I don't do any sort of snooping when I am at my kid's house's. Respectining people's privacy has always been a big & important issue for me. It still is & it's not easy being married to a retired police detective who always has his damn nose in everything. He doesn't understand the importance of personal boundaries - tiresome. I hope your Mom can just visit & respect your boundaries - stand firm!!
Cyn, I hope you enjoy your week.
OK, I have some work waiting & I need to get to Curves first. Have a great AF day everyone!

Morning friends, horrible sleep again, but whatevs,Lav,I never knew that YB was a police detective, maybe that's why he's so glum and doesn't"trust happiness" I could never do that job, when people are being hard on cops I always come to their defense cuz they see a whole lot of stuff that would send the rest of us to the funny farm, sure there's dirty cops but there's dirty everything Dill, yes small things but huge to us,noticing the laughter and smiles of family is something that I took for granted for a long time,I guess I still do sometimes ,think its always gonna be there that's why I'm gonna try and make the most of my visit with my mom,I wasn't posting here a couple of years ago when she and my baby bro came down, ugh that visit makes me cringe!! The first night I was ok,they had arrived drunk, stayed up til 3 am drunk, woke up drunk but I just let them be,the next day set my nerves ablaze,my big dog I used to have bit a chunk out of my brothers lip cuz he was in his face all drunk,my mom started making racist comments about Mexicans,I started crying cuz Kell was pregnant with Louie,(he's half mexican) that's not even everything, those were just highlight events that drove me to drink that visit, see when I visit her I can leave but when she's here I can't,hopefully she just takes it easy with the beer,I can't say no alcohol in the house cuz hubs drinks, grrr, sorry for unloading all of that,I'm just explaining why this visit is kinda stressing me out, anyways, hello to all and let's have a nice Monday(I hope)I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Hi everybody!
I made it! Both places. Cambridge was tiny and stressful, but I did it, and then drove 2 hours to the airport, stayed in a hotel room, got up, got on the plane, and it's been non-stop ever since. Got a bit of a break this moment before I go out for an evening event. Everyone here is so lovely, so loving. I am amazed that after 15 years, everyone seems the same and are still just wonderful people. I am really lucky to reconnect in this way.
Pauly - so sorry for that story, good luck with this visit. Lav - hope you get your results soon. Dill - what a cute story about your gdaughter, ha. Star - you are doing great, just don't be too hard on yourself.
Sending everyone good AF vibes for the week ----

Cyn, glad you made it to your destination(s) safely. Have fun with your friends & don't forget to get some rest
Pauly, does your Mom know that you've quit drinking? If not, now is a good time to tell her!
Let her know how difficult it's been, how hard you have worked toward your goals. You don't need to do it in a confrontational way but you really should let her know. Who knows, maybe she will rise to the occasion & tone down her drinking during her visit.
You have so many wonderful times ahead with Louie & your kids - AL does not need to be involved, right? Lean on us a bit, OK
So the Curves owner gave me a big box full of chestnuts today, nice. I've never used them before so good old Google told me how to roast them & make them into interesting things like chestnut butter. Oh boy!!!!AF since 03/26/09

Good morning....
Lots going on. Dill, I do remember the Mama's and the Papa's, and I was thinking of that song. I had a tough day emotionally yesterday, not sure why. I was glad to get to work and be around other people, do good work, and get out of the house. Glad you had such a lovely family Sunday, I love those kind of days. When my kids come we always laugh alot, eat good food, and if it is fall, always football. Thanks for your description of the moon. Living in the city, I don't see the stars or moon that much, I just don't look. I'll have to today. Thanks for the reminder.
Lav, like you, I would never inspect my kids homes and criticize, they would probably ask me to leave, or get pissed off, as they should. Dill's situation is different, she has been asked to step in alot and so has organized and helped out to an extent we have not had too. I remember once I got in trouble at my daughter's for running the dishwasher every night. I just laughed and let the dirty dishes pile up. I always kept a clean house so when I go and visit, they want their places to look nice for me. Cute, huh?
Pauly, what a mess for you. It is a difficult situation, you love your mom and brother, but I was thinking like Lav, it is OK to set boundaries. Yes, your husband drinks, but does he get sloppy, messy, drunk? I was around someone that was like that a few weeks ago and I admit, I was furious. I don't feel I have to put up with a loud obnoxious drunk. But, with your family, it is even harder to know how to manage. Think of some things you could do and if you want, explore on this thread, get feedback, and maybe that would help. I know there is no easy answer or solution. Life is complicated, relationships are messy. Take care of you.
Cyn, you are having a wonderful time. Good, you deserve it.
Off to get ready for work. Have a good one.

Hello Friends,
Wow Pauly, I can see why you are nervous about the upcoming visit! I am pretty sure I couldn't handle all that. My Mom always had a glass of wine or two each day but I don't remember her ever over doing. If she did, she was definitely not a sloppy or obnoxious drunk. My dad, he frequetly over did it at weekend parties and such and would get loud and stupid when he did. He was my dad so I ust accepted it, especially bc he was generally functional and a good provider. He was a really good dad, really. Drinking to excess was common back then. It was like the tv show, Madmen.
Hey, Cyn, really glad you arrived safely and are having a good visit.
Lav, have you ever sprouted mung beans? I'm going to do a batch as soon as I can get to a bulk food store to buy some. I haven't been able to find sprouts at the grocery story anymore. They quit stocking them! Grrr. Chestnut butter sounds like a great use of the chestnuts. I remember my dad used to roast them at the holidays. What a wonderful smell!
Star, Sorry you had such a difficult Monday. I started out ok on Monday but by the end of the day felt myself slipping into a deep funk. I really am not sure why, but luckily, it passed. I hope the rest of your week is smooth sailing. Like you I kept a clean house when the kids were growing up. Still do, actually, but not as much. Anyway, my kids also try to have their houses presentable when I come. However, my son's standards do have room for improvement! LOL!
Have a peaceful AF Tuesday everyone.Dill

Good Wednesday morning friends!
Craziness has enveloped my life in the past 24 hours!
Yesterday afternoon I ended up having to go pick up my granddaughter & bring her here. It seems that her preschool suddenly dismissed her. She was thrown out of preschool for crying too much! I've never heard of such a thing - seriously!
My daughter is in school & in the midst of taking her midterms this week. My son-in-law's job requires him to leave the house by 6 am & he usually returns by 3:30. I don't know how all this is going to play out - bummer.
Hello to Dill, Star & Pauly. I hope everyone is OK. Have a great AF Wednesday everyone!
