    Good morning friends!

It's cloudy & cool but not raining, yay!
I hear nicer weather is due to come back next week.

Star, lots of people have good luck with WW, I hope you do too!
I've done WW online a few times in the past with limited success. I found it tiresome to track meals & exercise & all that, ha ha. I seem to be doing better doing my own thing & just find that I have lost a pound every once in a while. Our metabolisms change so much as we age, unfortunately! Good luck to you

Dill, I thought you might be busy with the kids - it's a good busy though.
I hope your granddaughter doesn't get sick - hate cold & flu season.
Have you ever tried mashing cauliflower to replace mashed potatoes? It's surprisingly good & all of the adults seem to like it which is a plus I like making little healthier changes like that.
Dill, I wouldn't worry about what's on your EMR, the info is safeguarded. We also need to realize that often the doc inserts her opinions & concerns in addition to the info you provide & symptoms you present. It's all kind of a mishmash in the end. Having a doc that you like is a blessing, really. You can forge a real working relationship.

Pauly, I saw that precious pic of Louie napping on FB yesterday. Kids really know how to chill out, don't you think? We should tale lessons from them perhaps!

Cyn, are you still getting rained on? We have a nice week ahead, thank goodness.

OK, so today is the birthday party for the old man, LOL
He's not a fan of a lot of hoopla but the kids are excited to be coming to 'Pop's birthday party".
    Meatballs & cupcakes are ready!!!!!

Have a great AF Sunday everyone!

      Good Sunday night all -

Lav, hope your party went well! I had to laugh at the visual of meatballs and cupcakes, but I know what you meant.

Dill, how nice that your granddaughter feels like you have such a safe haven for her...that is very sweet.

Star - you will get your weight where you want it - as Dill said, you've been through so much...now taking time just for you will be a great thing.

Pauly - hope you are hangin in there OK!

Thanks for the ginger idea; I never thought of freezing it, that's a great hint. The toddy helped me get through the night, but I had an uncomfortable day yesterday (though I managed to drag myself through cleaning the house - Mr T came home last night, just for 2 nights). Today was a little better. My wonderful across-the-street neighbor invited us to go along with her to our nearby moviehouse that show the Royal Shakespeare Theater (recorded live from London) shows. It was 'Othello', with 2 black men playing the leads - Othello and Iago. Oh, what a hair-raising story! Holy cow, and this was dynamite production. It was a good thing to take my mind off of not feeling so great. This evening I finally finished one set of the curtains! Victory! I must have had much more patience in the old days when I sewed alot. That was very instructive - to see how I have changed in that way, that I think everything has to be done in an hour or so. I guess I never used to be that way, and I enjoyed the process of handwork as much as I enjoyed the end result. Note to self...

Hope all have a grea AF night, and a wonderful Monday morning. I have a doc appt in the morning, so will check in later.

        Hey all...

Dill, Lav, and Cyn, thanks for your support regarding WW. I appreciate the fact that you DO know that the last two years have been kind of crazy, and watching what I eat was obviously not a priority: surviving was my priority. I have and now I have to work to get my weight where I want it to be. I did really well both Saturday and Sunday, and it is easier for e during the work week. I realize from the first two days that portion control is where it is at for me. Being mindful of my hunger pangs and when I am satisfied. It is all on line now, and I can track it in about ten minutes a day, so not too bad. Really, this is the perfect time for me, the holidays are a long way off, right?

Dill, I know what you mean about the electronic record, but you took care of the problem and had to ask for help. We all have to fight the stigma to make a difference. Be AF is the best gift you can give yourself and your family. Me too.

Lav, hope your birthday party for went well. How great that everyone wanted to attend. The weather here was beautiful, a perfect Indian Summer day, hope you get that weather soon.

Cyn, my husband is fighting a cold and we took it easy, it was so relaxing. He still has it, but is slowly getting better. It is some bug. Hope you feel better and your doctor's visit goes well. Glad you had a fun time going out. You deserve it. Isn't it funny how we think differently over time? Sometimes I think, what is the rush, it will be fine as it is. I am reading an interesting book, "What we talk about when we talk about God." It is written by a pastor, is not churchy, but rather combines science and spirituality and focuses on the mystery of life, the paradoxes, a really interesting point of view. I think I have had that point of view for a while. People who know the truth irritate me. Wisdom to me is when we know that we don't know. Ya know?

        Have a good one.

          Good morning friends,

Sunshine & no rain today, yay!
I hear normal temps are due to return as well this week. I think we had a touch of winter there for a while.

All the meatball, cupcake eating party goers left by 8:30 last evening, ha ha!! The party went well.

Cyn, I used to sew everything & now I seem to have no desire to do so. My embroidery machines have taken over I guess. Every room in this house has a window treatment fashioned by me but they've been up there for years & may stay there forever, LOL
Pacing ourselves is a really big deal. We do not need to beat ourselves up with housework, gardening or anything else, right?

Star, good luck with your WW routine this week! I still use some of their recipes from their cookbook.

          Greetings to Dill & Pauly!

I need to push myself out to Curves & get the day going.
Have a wonderful AF Monday everyone!

              Hello All,

Lav, yes, I have tried mashed cauliflower and I like it very much. Haven't done it in a while so I do appreciate you reminding me of that one!

Star, you made me smile when you said, "Wisdom to me is when we know that we don't know. Ya know?" I do think there is wisdom in knowing we don't have all the answers, that's for sure. But I don't mind so much people who think that they do know the "truth", based on their faith. As long as they don't try to make everyone accept what they believe. I actually envy people who have a quiet faith and belief in God and that they will be with Him in the afterlife. But I do know the type of person you are upset with; the ones that are somehow smug and condescending.

Pauly, glad you had a good weekend. Mr. D made me breaksfast on Sunday too! LOL! Eggs over easy, bacon, toast, coffee and juice. It was a treat.

Cyn, Othello sounds like it was really engrossing. Shakespeare was phenomenal. He wrote plays to entertain the common man and they have withstood the test of time! I know what you mean about not having the patience for sewing that we once had. I wonder what that's about.

Have a great, peaceful af Monday evening.
              Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

                Good evening all -

Well, back to a quiet house tonight. I've been working late, catching up. It was fun over the weekend to take time off...even the sewing was restful.

A couple of weeks ago I planned a trip (re-using a flight that I had to cancel last year) to the city where I lived and worked for 2 decades. I have close, close friends there and haven't been able to spend time with them for years. I made the arrangements in a burst of enthusiasm, and was so happy. Then I started to get worried about it all; the money, the traveling, will people be able to see me, will they want to see me, how will I feel, etc etc. So I didn't let anyone know! This morning, I made myself email and message a few people via FB. Sheesh, that was a little scary. But I've had people write back and be happy that I am coming, so I'm glad that I'm over that hurdle. Mr Tree also helped alot by encouraging me to get my own place to stay, rather than bunking with people. 5 nights is too long to be with one family, for sure. And with my food needs and fatigue, and whatever, I think it will be better to be by myself for lodging. So he found me a great Airbnb place, and get this, it is literally 2 blocks from where I used to live. So I'll definitely know that neighborhood! In a way I'm so glad - this is the upstairs of a duplex, and this way I can even invite people over! Less meeting everyone in noisy, expensive restaurants. So that has been a big relief.

Now, just to get caught up on work and get the house and dogs ready for me to be gone. This should be routine by now! I don't leave until early Saturday morning, so I have time to do things ahead. Let's see if I can remember to do that...

Glad you are feeling better, Pauly. Hope everyone is enjoying these gorgeous days. What a relief to see the sun come out, another thing to be grateful for. Cheers all.

                  Good morning all...

Hope you are doing well, I am really tired this am, need more coffee.

Lav, were you on WW in the past? I do really well losing weight, it is just following it after the first week. I am determined to, and feel better already. I knew I needed the help with portion control and already have it. Plus, I will try out new recipes, and that will be fun. Glad to hear you missed the floods, they look horrible. We continue to have beautiful weather.

Dill, I bought another book, (used, online so cheap) called Celtic Daily Prayer, and it is wonderful. Lovely, lovely prayers and readings. I am enjoying that after I finished my novel. Enjoy the weather, wow it is gorgeous.

Cyn, you busy lady. How fun to take a trip now, to the desert? Have a great time and enjoy taking time for yourself. You deserve it.

Pauly, glad you are doing better. Maybe the All One is not for you? Hope you have a great day.

                    Good Tuesday morning friends!

Sunny & seasonably cool this morning ~ nice

Hi there Dill. I hope you have this nice weather too.
Speaking of veggies, grilling & roasting them really brings out their true flavor in my honest opinion

Cyn, enjoy your trip, lucky you!!
I hope it's all fun & relaxation. Be sure to leave the work at home!

Star, I have tried WW online a few times. It's a good eating plan but somehow too many calories for me even with my Curves workouts. I think my metabolism is super weird, ha ha. I hope you get the results you want!

Pauly, I've been using Source Naturals pea powder protein for breakfast smoothies along with almond or cashew milk, bananas, strawberries, etc. The stuff is very agreeable & has no animal protein, works for me. Keep trying new stuff until you find what works for you.

                    OK, off to Curves!
Have a great AF day everyone.

Morning friends, Cyn,have a wonderful trip are you staying in the U.S or traveling out of the country? Lav,I like to try new ones and I figured since I heard so much about the AllOne here I'd give it a shot but I just think its too turbo B vitamins for me or some other ingredient, I bought two cans of my usual shake mix as it was buy one,get one yesterday, I'm sticking with it,I love to freeze watermelon chunks and blend them in the vanilla flavored one with unsweetened almond milk, so good Louie was being a peach yesterday so I took the time to order some early Christmas crap, well as soon as I got on the phone, he turned into an instant gremlin!!kicking me,screaming, the poor lady on the phone was very patient thank goodness, I think he just wanted all my attention on him, little monkeyI hear you guys on portion control, sometime I use Louie's little dishes for my food but then I tend to go back for seconds......ok thirds haha! Hi all, late check in for me. Had a nice day with lots of sunshine and a couple of walks. Loads of reading time too. What could be better?

Star, Celtic Daily Prayer sounds interesting but when I looked on amazon there were so many different ones I wasn't sure which you were talking about.

Lav, Pauly, Cyn, thinking of you all. I'll try to write more tomorrow. Have a peaceful af Tuesday evening everyone.

                            Good morning Friends,

Star, sorry you were in a rush this morning. I know how you like to have a liesurely morning with coffee and MWO. As I mentioned yesterday, I looked on amazon for that celtic daily prayer and there were several different ones. One of the cost $75! Which one do you have?

Pauly, I chuckled when you talked about Louie turning into a gremlin once you got on the phone. LOL! "The more things change, the more they remain the same!" I remember my kids doing that when I was a young mom. Now that I'm a gmother, the grand kids do it to me! LOL

Lav, I agree with you that roasting and grilling are really great ways to prepare veggies. I have a table top roaster I've been experimenting with lately, but I haven't tried veggies in it yet. It did a fantastic job on my whole chicken. Yum! I wonder how it would do with veggies. I like the idea of not heating up the whole oven so I will give it a try.

Cyn, I'm coming to the end of The Iron King but I must tell you tho I love the book, I have been disconcerted with the constant flow of wine! LOL! They drink wine for breakfast lunch and dinner and in between and after! I would not have been considered a problem drinker back in the 1300's in France. I would have been considered a teetotaler! Ha!

Let's all have a great af Hump Day!

Good morning friends, happy Hump day!

Dill, I always wondered about the wine consumption in those historic novels, ha ha! Yep, I did that too!!
I like updating cooking methods as current research shows us healthier ways to prepare our foods. I got into grilling pizzas outside this summer - what an idea, LOL. It's simple to mix up a batch of pizza dough in the food processor (I use half white whole wheat flour & no one knows), let it rise for 45 minutes, shape up your pies & grill them for a few minutes before putting toppings on. Then all you have to do is return them to the grill until the cheese melts. My almond cheese substitute works well for me

Star, hope you have a good day!

Pauly, an OD of B vitamins is not what you want, for sure. Finding what works for you & sticking with it is the best idea. Yep, I remember my kids pestering the heck out of me when I tried making a phone call, ha ha!

                              Hi there to Cyn!
