    Good morning friends!

Drove in cloudy semi-darkness but made it to my destination. My grandaughter was just waking up as I got here. It only took about 5 minutes (no coffee) for her bubbly self to emerge, ha ha.

Star, that sounds like a lot of work for hair cuts, LOL
I like decorating for the kids at Christmas. I probably wouldn't bother much if not for the kids. I am into the minimalist look lately, ha ha.

Pauly, isn't it bizarre how kids tune into TV commercials like that?
That's one of the reasons I prefer PBS - no advertising.
I really like my wash & wear hair. Blow drying it causes hot flashes, ugh!!

    Hello to Dill & Cyn!

Have a great AF day everyone!

        Good morning...

Lav, you are so funny about the hair thing. I have not had wash and wear hair since I was a kid. I have to look my best and it takes WORK! Hope you had fun with granddaughter, lucky you.

Pauly, you are right about the antidepressants, but if someone is suffering and unable to function, it is worth a try. Hope you and hubby like the zuchinni soup, I would think the kids would like it, it has sausage, and who doesn't like sausage?

Dill, the weather here got really cold and windy. Brrrrrr. Winter coat today.

Cyn, yay, it is Friday, yes the 13th but I always have good Friday the 13ths. Hope you do too.

        Have a great day.

          Hello friends,

I am a "wash & wear hair" sort too. I used to color my hair at home using lady clairol or whatever was the best price, but I stopped doing that many years ago. My hair is silver now.

It's Friday the 13th and I woke up in an absolutely terrible mood. I know it will pass, but I am going to have to actively work on it to get it to go away.

Cyn, I enjoyed the article about copeing with the Norwegian winters. Thanks for that one.

Star, Lav, Pauly, have a safe Friday the 13th!
          Dill

Good morning friends, happy Friday the 13th!!!

I slept well last night - exhaustion will do that to you, ha ha!

Dill, I still use a box of hair color every 6 weeks or so. I don't have that much gray, mostly just at the temples. I like they way it conditions my hair & I swear it helps keep the frizz under control.

Star, no one ever cared how their nurse looked at 7 am, thank goodness, LOL

Last evening my daughter told me that her brother-in-law was hospitalized with a hemorrhagic stroke. He's a very healthy & active 44 year old, daily runner & all that. Geez, you just never know. He is in ICU being carefully monitored. The angiogram showed left frontal involvement & he is currently aphasic. So sad!

Hello to everyone & I hope we all have a good AF day!

              Hello all!

Happy Friday the 13th! I'm with Star - this should be a good day. 6 and 7 are magical numbers in some circles of thought, so having them both together should be a fine thing!

Dill - So Sorry you awoke with the nasties; maybe it's just a 'dark side of the moon' movement. My dear across-the-street neighbor turned me onto what I find is a wonderful guided meditation (with visuals, which helps me alot): The Honest Guys. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheHonestGuys The writing and the music are definitely a step above other meditations I've heard (although I really have not tried many!). See what you think.

I am literally under doctor's orders (my naturopath) to find meditations and stress-coping assistance. She found physical things in this last bunch of tests that we are correcting, but one of the areas that came out with most urgent needs is neurological (not sure how they measured that, but whatever). Reactions to stress really do affect our health!

Star - decorating for a little one would be the best! I have guys coming to deal with the massive amounts of leaves everywhere and they will blow out the gutters when all the leaves have stopped falling. But in the meantime, I need to keep the gutters (that I can reach) clear so the downspouts don't get clogged. It is an every-other day task until all the leaves fall - sometimes the gutters fill up as I'm clearing them! But this too shall pass - the leaves are almost all down - the huge red oak trees like to hold onto their leaves until Thanksgiving some years!

Pauly - if you can find a good reputable doc that is used to dealing with ad's, they should be able to prescribe the right one for the situation. Don't feel like you have to figure it all out on your own!

Lav - good for you for you gdaughter duty. So extremely sorry to hear of the BIL's stroke...another reason to enjoy every day, right, since we don't know what's coming.

Sending all good wishes for an AF Friday --

                  Good morning ladies...

Pauly, what a good deal at Kohl's, your daughter will love it. Hope she is feeling better. Great she found another job so quickly, she can keep on looking while she is working part time if she wants to.

Lav, it is really cold here today,in the 20s this morning. Winter is here. What are you cooking today? Anything in the crock pot? I'm not sure what I am going to do for dinner, it is still really early.

Dill, sorry you had a difficult Friday the 13th. Again, my day was OK, I just love Friday's. Hope things went better as the day goes on.

Cyn, I know that when I get really upset or angry, I often get sick. So, trying to not let anything get to me so much makes sense for my health. Even just a few minutes a day of meditation is supposed to help. I am looking forward to the meditation link. Thanks. Hope you start feeling better.

                  Have a good one all.

                    Hello all -

Pauly, how great to get something special for Kell. I hope everything works out for her -

                    Star - Happy weekend, enjoy!

All day yesterday I meant to go back and edit my post to say 'reactions to PERCEIVED stress'. I don't live in the stressful environment that so many of the world's citizens live in. My thinking creates the stress that is hard for me to handle, and we know what I have to do about that! And so I'm doing it.

Just as I was thinking about how hard life is for so many on our planet, the news came through about the attack in Paris. What a wrenching thing, and since we were lucky enough to be there last summer, I identified with the story...even though we were only there for 4 days, we were regularly in those east side neighborhoods, we walked the Place de Republique, ate at a sweet little restaurant close by... it is so stunning about how fragile our lives and communities are - just like Lav's story about her daughter's BIL, another reminder of how quickly things can change. So 'carpe diem' - the antidote is to be mindful and be present each day, right?

Wishing all a great AF Saturday --

                      Good morning friends, happy Saturday!

Cold 7 very windy here but it's sunny

I sat for hours last night with France 24 TV station streaming live in my iPad.
I have also been in those neighborhoods in lle de France so I am very sad about the terror attacks. My heart goes out to those people.
I fear for the future of the entire world in reality. Terrorism is cowardly, must be stopped.

Cyn & Star, I actually read this week that stress directly affects even our bones! Studies have proven that when we are feeling stressed we breathe in short, quick breaths & do not take in enough O2. The lack of O2 messes with our ability to form new bone ~ hence osteoporosis develops!! Geez!!! If nothing else we need to be mindul about watching our breathing!

Pauly, I'm sure your daughter will love her gift - nice find

Star, I woke up to a request to take the boys off my DIL's hands today, she has a double ear infection going on & says she is 'no fun'!! Don't know about dinner yet, we shall see.

Greetings Dill, are you getting this windy weather too?

Have a great AF Day everyone!

Hello friends, So awful what has happened in France. I can't stop thinking about it.

Lav, I know what you meant about the conditioner that comes with the hair color kit. I always really liked that too! Yes, I'm dealing with the wind too. Yuck. So sorry to hear about your daughter's BIL. I hope the damage is limited.

Cyn, I did like the meditations on that website. Thank you so much! I may use them on nights when sleep is elusive. I am feeling much better today. Thank you! Guess what? I've actually finished book two of the Accursed Kings series by Druond! I've got a request in at the library for the third.

Pauly, that purse sounds like a really great buy! Your daughter will love it.

Star, It is fun to decorate for the wee ones. Also, I like getting seasonal books, like fall harvest books and thanksgiving books. After Thanksgiving I am going to take out the Christmas books I bought at the end of last Christmas, plus put out my new nativity. I bought a really pretty one but it is not ceramic so I will not worry about my grandchildren touching it and moving the pieces!

Have a peaceful af Saturday. Let's appreciate our blessings.

                          Good morning all...

Had a pretty good Saturday, got a lot done, made a new recipe and it was delicious. Leftovers for today. We are actually driving to our daughter's in the afternoon to have an early dinner and enjoy family time. I am looking forward to this. Also,, putting away the outdoor things in a shed we just bought. It is small and stands next to the house, so it will be packed. But, good to get done. Yesterday there was ice in the bird bath, not good.

Cyn and Lav, I know stress can affect every part of our body. Being anxious all the time, short breaths and not enough oxygen seems to be the norm. That is why I love mindfulness, meditation, and eating clean. It is so good for us.

Dill, nice to hear your down mood went away. I browsed around a few stores yesterday looking at all the Christmas decorations, trying to decide what I want to do. Little by little I will get it done after Thanksgiving, too. I think one time I put the tree up before Thanksgiving, but decided not to do that this year.

Pauly, hope your weekend is going well.

                          Have a good Sunday.

                            Good morning friends,

Sunny & below freezing at the moment but it's warming all the way up to 60 degrees later.

Had a busy day with running errands, picking up my grandsons & even ended up cooking Sunday dinner on Saturday, ha ha! Leftovers for today!
I have started picking up a gift here & there for Christmas but we have to get thru a few birthdays first (son & grandson). This is always an intense time of the year. Shopping on Amazon Prime has saved my sanity ~ believe me

Star, enjoy your family time today. I take all I can get!!

Dill, glad you are feeling in better spirits. This change in daylight hours can mess with my moods. I really try to stay on top of that with mindfulness tools.
Another reason for me to remain grateful!

Cyn, I imagine it's cold up in your area! I hope you are staying warm. The fireplace has been getting a workout here already

Pauly, how did your day go yesterday?

Wishing everyone a good AF Sunday!

                                Hello friends,

Late check in for me again. Sorry. I tried several times today to get online but it just wasn't working out for me! If my granddaughter saw me with the iPad, she wanted to have her turn and play with her apps. I just caved. Grandmother's priviledge! LOL!

Funny Pauly, but I just bought some english muffins. I don't always, but I do love them.

Lav, I do think my mood was related to the change in time. It has totally messed me up!

Star, I'm glad you had a good Saturday. Was the new recipe the chicken one you mentioned? I must tell you again, Mr. D Loved the zuchinnin soup recipe, so would love to see your new one.

                                Hello Cyn!

I have been so upset by the event in Paris. I imagine you all are too. Must get on with things.
