Morning friends,Dill,my mom has had a recent mouse problem which she discovered in the middle of the night while using the bathroom, the mouse was in the toilet runningaaround the inner rim!! I'd die,she says she screamed and flushed it,I've heard of fenatanyl patches being used to get high too,so sad ,Cyn and Star,Vegas would be perfect if it would snow on Christmas eve every year, then melt away Christmas night Hahahaha! I grew up in snow, lived in Utah for 5 years and while I think I miss snow,I think in reality I don't,plus Mt.Charleston is only an hour away,it snowed up there Wednesday, hmmm maybe we'll take Louie up there this weekend and see if there's any left hi Lav,is the Curves craft sale still going on?off to either vet more coffee,a food,or something, hope we all have a peaceful AF Friday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

        Morning all -

Thanks for the updates, everybody. Dill, one of the reasons I was happy to move into this brick house was that it seemed mouse-proof. And while I don't see evidence of them in the living areas, I do downstairs and I hear them in the walls. Aggravation!!! So today it will be me going around the house and plugging up any tiny hole I can see, and setting traps downstairs.

Pauly - I think Louie would get a big kick out of seeing snow! When you're not used to it, it really does seem magical.

Enjoy your busy Saturdays, Star and Lav! I'm going to put the dogs in the car and go see Mr Tree for a couple of hours, then head back here and try to wrangle the leaves here. Yesterday the driveway disappeared - I mean literally. We have people that come and blow it off the lawn - but it goes into the woods, and I think is killing off the native woodland plants. Not sure what to do about that, but I'm going to mulch at least the leaves in the doggy area...if my mulching push mower can handle that. Right now I'm dreaming about pine forests....

Have a great AF day all --

          Good Saturday morning friends!!

Cloudy as heck here but it's mild outside. I have windows open!!

The craft sale goes thru Monday, will see how we all did, ha ha!!
I was just asked to watch the grandsons this evening so my son & DIL can go to the local fire company banquet. Guess I won't be doing any cleaning today, LOL

Enjoy your cool air & chili Star!

Good luck on mouse watch Cyn & Dill

Pauly, taking Louie for a ride sounds like a nice idea. I love day trips!

I can't find my driveway either Cyn, ha ha!!

Yesterday would have been my brother's 70th birthday. It's sad that he's gone & that the last years of his life were so isolated & far away from the rest of his family.
          Life can be short!!

Have a wonderful AF day everyone!

Just a quick fly by for me today. I have my granddaughter here and she keeps me hopping. She is watching Dragon Tales on netflix at the moment so I decided to take the opportunity to post.

I forgot to chime in the other day on the topic of sugar cravings. I too have been really craving sugar and when I give in to that, it just gets worse and worse. My appetite is up too.

Sounds like I am not the only one dealing with mice. Can't believe the mouse/toilet story!!!Yiikes! I think I would have had a heart attack if that happened to me!

I miss my brothers too, Lav. Life is too short.

Have a peaceful af evening everyone.

                Good morning...

Wow, I slept for 8 and 1/2 hours last night, I feel really well rested! I was very busy yesterday and accomplished so much that I needed to. The biggest task was getting all my paperwork sorted, thrown, or put in files. It took me over two hours, but now it is done and I feel orgainzied!!! Had a few errands to run, then to the store. The afternoon was for important things, like reading my latest book in that trilogy by Carol McGrath. Today I am having my family over and making a new recipe, a lighter version of chicken parmesean, salad, crusty bread, and AF. I would love to make something for dessert, but forgot to plan. We'll see.

Cyn, a couple of years, we just let the leaves blow into the neighbors yards, and mulched in the spring. Not nice I know, but we usually had to rake at least 2-5 times there were so many leaves. Mice, yuck. Had those before and FREAKED out when I was young. Once I had cats, they took care of it. It gave the cats something to do. Haha. I hate the sound of the traps when they are taking care of the mice, but at least you know they are working. Once, we had to kill fourteen mice in our garage and kitchen, it was disgusting.

Dill, really enjoying those historical novels, I have not found any like this for a long time. I definitely recommend them. All downloaded on kindle. Life is good.

Pauly, it is tough to work on Saturdays, I know my husband and I struggle with his working every weekend, but hey, he has a good job, we can pay the bills, and I can get things done. Sundays are our days together. Your daughter losing her job stinks, so sorry for her. Hopefully it will turn out that she finds a better job, with great people, making better money. I am thinking of my son who is looking for a job as he finishes up school. Lots of stress there for sure.

Lav, busy as always, I see. Hope your craft show is going well. Have a fun weekend.

                  Good Sunday morning friends!

Sunny & 46 degrees so far - nice
I'll be watching grandsons again this afternoon & evening so I really should get a few things done this morning.

Pauly, sorry about your daughter's job situation. I hope she doesn't let this get her down & finds something better. Sometimes these 'forced' changes show us the way to something better.

Dill, is your granddaughter staying all weekend? Busy, busy

Star, I hope you enjoy the family & dinner today. You will likely sleep well again after all that activity!

Cyn, I hope you are not worrying too much about the leaves. I know there is a good bit of rain on the way which will be knocking even more leaves off of the trees. I'm just waiting until they are done!

I picked up my first winter farm share veggie box yesterday. It had a bunch of baby white turnips which I ended up roasting with some fresh mushrooms - yum! I also roasted the bunch of beets which are delicious sliced up for salads. The adventures of Amish farm eating, ha ha!

Wishing everyone a great AF day!

                    Hi all -

It sounds like everyone will be busy today with family - good for all of you.

Star, congrats on getting everything taken care of and organized, AND making a great dinner. Whew!

Lav, I'm not worried about the leaves, except the ones in the dog yard. I made several passes yesterday with the mulching mower and got most of them up, put them in the wheelbarrow and made 4 trips to the back of the property and dropped them. I'll continue that so that the dogs have a clean place to go. My girl dog was getting very frustrated - she hates the leaves, and there was literally NO place on the property that wasn't covered!

So this morning, I was looking out the window and heard a huge horrible 'animal' fight. I looked up into the elder tree on the property, the one from the 1700s (just a ways a way from the back yard) and saw 2 enormous raccoons 'dukeing it out' in the top crook of the tree. One won, the other is hanging around. The 'winner' then went down into a hole in the tree. It was dramatic, and I am a little undone - I was walking close to that tree yesterday when I took the leaves! It's also close to the dog yard, which has a couple of entry points. That fight was MEAN. I'm double-closing the doggy doors - I may not even use them for the winter. Shoot, another friggin' complication on this property! But I just ordered some sonic/light pest repellants that can be 'dialed' for the animal that you're repelling. (I don't think it's fair to distress the deer or fox). It's highly rated and has a 45 -day guarantee, so we'll see. In the meantime, I'm going to watch my back while I'm bushwhacking, sheesh!

Inside and outside work to do today - I wish all a great Sunday, AF of course.

Morning friends, wow who knew racoons fought like that? Hey Pauly, I personally love quinoa & sweet potatoes. This is a good recipe for lunch

I hope your girls finds a new job real soon!

Cyn, do you have a local or county animal control service? We had one in our old hometown & they would come out & set up Havahart traps for you. Then they would come collect them when you trapped a critter. Around here we have to trap our own critters & release them somewhere & hope they don't find their way back. Country living sure can keep you busy, LOL
36 degrees at the moment, chilly!!!

                        Peace to all tonight!

                          Good morning,

Trying to wake up, yep, slept good again last night, busy, fun time with family, got to shop with my daughter a little, it was fun. It is COLD here, I love it. Now is the countdown for the holidays, my favorite Thanksgiving, and then of course, Christmas. This year I have a house, can put up a tree, decorate, and will be able to host two days. I am going to focus on enjoying it. Having things so different last year, I realize how quickly life can change. I want to enjoy and focus on all the positive things going on. Gratitude and thankfulness, a daily practice.

Lav, hope you had fun with the boys. Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year? Roasted turnips and mushrooms sounded good. What else did you serve with the veggies? I am looking for more recipes too.

Dill, hope you are doing well, any speical plans for the holidays?

Cyn, how scary, racoons are big and loud. I never thought of other animals using a doggie door.

Pauly, sleeping better, now eating better, what a great plan. Sending you positive energy to keep the flow going. I know your daughter will find a better job, especially now, right before the holidays, a busy time.

                          Have a good one.

                            Good morning all!

Up waaaay early this morning with a sick dog, oh well. Poor girl dog - the vet had me put her on a anti-reflux drug because of the coughing, but this is twice now that this has happened, so I'm going to look at other solutions. The beautiful side was that boy dog then decided he had to go out - and I accompanied him in case he ran into a raccoon - and THE STARS were INCREDIBLE! So bright and vivid - like a hollywood movie set, I almost couldn't believe they were real. Yesterday an elder in my 'tribe' passed on, and looking at the stars I though of her journey 'home'.

I used the extra time this morning to download one of the Meditations from Shannon Kaiser, the Play With the World website host. I read a little more of her story: in advertising, struggling with depression, weight and addiction issues, she dropped out and found her happy. A very inspiring story. I just listened to one 3 minute meditation a couple of times - that's enough to get me going. Mental clutter be gone. Love that.

Pauly - you sound great - I love your food choices! Good luck with everything!

Star - congrats on making so many changes to get to where you want to be. Recently I was thinking of how unhappy you were last year at this time. You did it! You made it happen.

Lav - thanks for that recipe; two of my favorite things all in one dish. I hope you find out that you sold a lot of stuff in the craft fair.

Dill - you are probably recovering from your family company this weekend. I hope some relaxation is in store for you.

Wishing all a great AF week!

                              Hello friends,

I just got finished looking at that recipe Lav. It looks delicious! Have you made it yet? Today is the last day of the craft sale. I hope it was a success for you.

Cyn, that fight sounds horrible! Raccoons are mean little beasts. I have to say I'm not too fond of fox, either. We once rased pheasants to release into the wild. The second year we did it, a fox found its way into the pen and decimated our little chicks. We were so upset! So, even tho fox are pretty to see off in the distance, I have nothing good to say about them other than that!

Pauly, I wish your daughter well in her job search. And, I vow today to cut back on the garbage I've been eating too! I saw a couple of pictures of myself taken over the weekend and I realized I MUST lose weight! Sheesh!

Star, good for you on the organization! I'm glad you are having good times with your family, too. It is something to be grateful for, I agree. I love your focus on the positive. We finally got to give my gson his birthday gifts. We had them on order but on the day of the birthday, they hadn't yet arrived. We haven't seen him in two weeks, so we've been busting to give him his gifts! Even better, her really liked them! He didn't want to put the best one away to get in the car and go home. It was an electronic science kit for building projects. He loves that kind of stuff.

                              Have a great Monday everyone.

Cross post, Cyn. Sorry to hear about girl dog and I hope she gets better fast. But what a gift to see the stars while doing dog duty! I was up early too and went out just to look. No dog duties involved! But that sliver of a crescent moon smiling down at us was awesome! Best wishes to your relative as s/he makes the journey.
