"Daddy, why do they always put bus stops outside shops and post offices?"

"Well, sweetheart, it's so mummy and daddy have somewhere to park our nice BMW when we need to go to the shops or post office."

A policeman knocked on my door. He pulled a photo from his pocket and said, "Is this your wife, sir?"

I said, "Yes, has she been in an accident?"

He said, "No, nothing like that. Me and all the lads from the station had a collection, we all felt really sorry for you."

My new diet is going brilliantly, I haven't eaten all year....

It seems I've upset a number of people by letting fireworks off to celebrate the New Year.

In hindsight it may have been an idea if I had waited until I got off the train.

What do music and sweets have in common?

Both are better without the rapper.

When I look back at my life I remember 2015 as if it were yesterday.

A man in Manchester suffered serious head injuries after being hit with a large cylindrical percussion instrument.

Police believe the attack was gong related.

My New Year's resolution is to stop being condescending.

That's when you talk down to people.

A 24-year-old student slipped and fell to his death after climbing New York City's Four Seasons Hotel to take photos.

Police say he landed on a catwalk nine storeys below.

Only the poshest hotels have a walk for cats.

The recent flooding caused by Storm Frank has been truly terrible and has seen countless homes and livelihoods destroyed.

In other news, James Bay will be recording a new version of 'Hold Back The River' in an attempt to raise everyone's spirits.

Tell you what floats my boat.

    Water.

    HAPPY 2016 ABBERS!!!

Here we are in a brand new year! The possibilities are endless provided we make the right choices, each & every day.
I think that can be arranged

Thanks for starting us up Mick!
I hope the water therapy helps your knee heal. It takes longer for broken things to heal when you turn fifty ten, ha ha!!
We have consumed all the turkey & ham left over from Christmas - enough!!! Enjoy that runaway bird, ha ha!

I have no real plans for today but I will check on my DIL & grandsons. My son texted my from work last evening saying he's celebrating the new year by working 24 hrs OT. That kid loves to work!
Wishing everyone a wonderful AF Friday & blessings to all of us for 2016!

    Lav

Good for you on the 40 lengths, Mick. Like Lav said, it should also help rehab your knee. Pauly, decorations down here too, and put away in the attic for another year. Bear, sounds like you had a blow-out grand time on NYE!

No one's yet come looking for the little dog, but we've got postings up in the traditional places, so maybe an owner will turn up. Meantime, the vet sent us home with eye drops to begin to address whatever is wrong with his eye. Mick, thanks to you, it occurred to me to look on YouTube for a video on how to apply the drops. Majorly helpful.

The faucet kit was missing a washer, so required a trip back to the store. No problem, got what I needed to finish the assembly. Except, now it looks like the built-in supply lines are a different size or type from my existing water valves. Taking a break for now, as I'm not sure I've got the tools/strength/skills to change out the valves myself. Gonna think on it.

Was thinking last night that my favorite thing about NYE, was being able to buy booze without feeling the need to "disguise" my purchase, 'cause everyone buys alcohol on NYE, right? Now I'm just happy that I don't need to buy any.

Pie, I know for sure that I don't have the hand strength to work with tools like that so I just don't. Is there a neighbor with some free time on his hands maybe?
I've administered gallons of eye drops to people patients but never to a dog. I would have to look that one up too, ha ha! Good luck with the pup.

Pauly, I heard a few firecrackers around midnight but that's it. Cow country is pretty boring!!!

Bear, glad you got out & enjoyed yourself!

Where's the rest of the crew? Det, SF, etc.

            Have a peaceful night everyone!

Yep, Lav, it's the hand strength that worries me most, especially on 40 year old galvanized plumbing.

Fireworks here were way more than I expected. Last year, I was at my dad's house which is outside city limits, so it's no holds barred in the fireworks arena. My condo though is inside the city where it's illegal. Surprise, surprise!

Car seems ok now Mick, probably the starter motor sticking....annoying when they start to do that.

Eye ointment in dogs, Pie......just ease the top eyelid towards the back of the head and drop the ointment from above. The dog won't see it coming and won't fidget.
