Morning friends, thread has been kind of quiet lately,I thought it was just cuz of the holidays but I guess everyone's just busy, think I'll decorate early for Valentine's day just so the house doesn't seem as bare, hubs and I went to Denny's yesterday and they had hearts and such up so I guess I can too that place has gotten expensive btw,$10.99 for my club sandwich and $10.00 for hubs omelet!if I didn't hate casinos so much we probably could have eaten for half of that, has anyone here tried tryptophan just on its own for sleep? I have a full bottle but never really tried it,there was a good thread bumped on Amino's yesterday but it was mostly about l-glute,got to get ready,I hope we all have an awesome Monday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

Yes, the thread has been very quiet. I know that today was Star's friend's funeral so I am sure she was very distracted by her real world this morning.

Pauly, I have taken 5 htp which is tryptophan and it helped me sleep but I haven't used it in quite some time. I don't seem to have any trouble at all with sleeping lately. If anything, I am sleeping too much! I think that happens to me in winter thou. It's kind of a hibernation thing perhaps.

Lav, it sounds like Pauly has her tree down, how about you? I am starting on taking mine down today. I can get everything off of it, but have to rely on Mr. D to help get it out of the house. I don't know if he is motivated today. He got some parts delivered today for a project he is working on and he has disappeared into his workshop yet again!

Hello dear Cyn, I hope the gremlins are not messing with you anymore!

Star, you are in my thoughts. I can only imagine your grief.
        Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

          Evening all -

dill - my tree is still up! HB is gone until the weekend, but I actually follow the 12 days of Christmas, which means that tomorrow will be Twelfth Night (Epiphany), and Christmas will officially be over. Actually, I'm ready for the decorations to be out of here - feels crowded! But I am leaving lights on the mantle, and on the little fake trees at the front door... like you, Pauly, I miss the lights if they're not there. Who says we can't have lights after the holidays? I think we need it in January more than ever.

Winter has arrived here with a vengeance - windchills in the 10s below zero tonight. Time to light some candles and have a hot cider!

Lav - glad to hear that you have a big project! Dill - I didn't watch Downtown last night, as I'm about 3 seasons behind, and I just don't want to go out of order. But I did watch a good movie 'The Royal Affair' (I think) about Denmark and the age of Enlightenment, and how backward the country was in the late 1700s. Fascinating, especially as it is a true story.

Pauly - hang in there and keep on working your Gratitude list! I'm reading a book about how those thoughts that ring around in our heads really do us damage - better to pull ourselves into the present moment and find the grace. Not easy to do, but worth it! I'm trying, anyway...

Star - I have been thinking about you all day today, knowing how draining the funeral must have been. Big hugs to you.

Early this morning I saw the waning moon and a hugely bright star/planet close by - they looked like they had been traveling the night sky together like old friends. Love seeing that wonderful sky.

Wishing all a great AF week to come ---

Worked off & on today until 8 pm then said enough for today!
Dogs need to be fed, chickens need to be fed, eggs collected, dinner cooked - too much to do, ha ha!

My tree has been down for a couple of days - it was dropping needles like crazy & I worry about fire hazards & all that.
Not sure why but I was awake every two hours last night. I just can't keep a good sleeping pattern going, bummer!

Pauly, eating out is getting more expensive everywhere I think. I feel better when I eat my own cooking anyway

Cyn, the wind gusts tonight are CRAZY! Stay warm!

            Star, thinking about you

            Peace to everyone!

                Morning all -

I hear ya, Lav -- 1 degree early this morning, now it is a roaring 5 degrees. Good luck with all your work. I've often wondered how you can keep up with the chickens, cooking, grandkids, etc.

Yesterday the wind chill was the thing...the 'real feel' report was about 15 degrees lower than the actual temp. I've got feeders out, but my poor birdies are staying hunkered down. It's supposed to get back to a high of 40 later this week, weird!

Sending hugs to all, especially you today, Star -

I hope all have a good AF day -- to the light --

                  Hello friends,

Yes, I know about the tradition of keeping the tree up until 12th night, but I have never been able to actually do it! I get antsy to get things put away and get back to 'normal', plus, the live trees tend to become fire hazards. I think Lav mentioned that.

Cyn, I put that movie in my queue. It sounds like something I would very much like. Downton was really good last night. You have lots to look forward to if you are going thru the seasons in order. The moon was pretty last night. I wonder what that bright star/planet is that is near by the moon.

I don't have any bird feeders up because I don't really want to feed the squirrels! They eat so much and keep the birds off. But we stopped at a hardware store this morning and while browsing I found a feeder that is supposed to be squirrel proof. It's a pretty interesting design and I believe it will work. So, I bought one and am going to put it up today or tomorrow. I'll let you all know how I get on with it.

Hello Pauly, did you give the tryptophan a try?

                  Star,

Have a good AF afternoon and evening everyone.

                    Good morning...

What a couple of days. My husband, son and I drove up to the memorial service. It was really a celebration of my friend's life. She was a giver, and there were so many people from different parts of her life. There were also about 50 young people there, including my kids. That part was beautiful, seeing how everyone had grown up, affirming our love for our friend, and sharing our grief. Later, we stayed at a friend's house and she had food prepared and it was lovely. We arrived home in the afternoon, exhausted. It is over, yet it will never be over.

Back to work today, looking forward to getting back into my routine. Sorry this is all about me.

Lav, great to hear you are busy and doing well.

                    Pauly, hope you feel better.

Dill, I love the new year. My tree is still up, I needed to keep it up a little longer. Next weekend it will be taken down.

Cyn, I need the lights too.

                    Have a good one.

Star, it sounds like the memorial service was a celebration of a life well lived. It will take time for you to adjust to the void in your life. May your memories sustain you.

Lav, you sound so busy! Take time for yourself and take care of yourself.

Pauly, that hat sounds too cute! LOL!

                          Hello dear Cyn.

Mr. D has been wanting to see Star Wars so today we went to the "early bird" showing. If you go before noon it's only $5!! The matinee price was $9. I really enjoyed the movie. It was nice that the original princess Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker were all in it played by the original actors. Nice touch.

                          Have a peaceful af evening!

                              Evening all -

Star - so glad that you had family with you for the funeral of your friend. It sounds like a very special time of sharing...good luck with the days to come. I hope today being back at work was OK.

Dill - it may take a decade for me to get through it, but I will watch all of Downtown! So glad to hear you went to Star Wars. Pauly - how cruel people are on social media these days!! And poor Carrie Fischer - she's changed her life so much, and dealt with addictions (Postcards from the Edge) -- only to be hounded because she's aged?! Sheesh, people need to get a grip.

Lav - good luck with your busy days - I hope the driving isn't bad for you tomorrow...

This morning I went early to the town where I get my nutritional counseling and chiropractic. Whew, my poor body must have been quite 'out of whack', as the doc did some re-adjusting (no cracking) and massage, and I am really feeling it. I had to lie down with a hot pad as soon as I got home. I made a nice steamy pot of red lentil soup and that gave me a little boost this evening. I need to get a new brochure finalized tonight, so I'd better get back to it...

Wishing all a good night and a great AF Thursday tomorrow --
