Pauly, I tried evening Primrose oil years ago, hoping it would handle some menopause symptoms but it didn't & it bothered my stomach. Supplements can be very helpful or a real pain, LOL

Dill, glad the moonglow didn't get to you, ha ha!!

Cyn, sounds like you have gotten a good bit of outside work done, nice! I ended up driving to Lancaster county with YB to talk to the Amish guy who built our shed aka chicken house. We need two doors on it replaced. I hope they understood our request. You never know with them, their communication skills are pretty poor.

Peace to all tonight. I will check in from my granddaughter's tomorrow.

      Good morning....

Busy at work, feeling a little tired yesterday, but accomplished so much.

Dill, the bombings in Belgium seem surreal, I am not home much so watched a little news and it was just horrible for the people involved. I don't get it, why violence, and yet that is a basic drive, and always has been. I like the focus here on peace. Good idea.

Lav, I slept better last night, still adjusting to getting home, I never sleep well on a vacation. It is good to be home. Have fun with granddaughter.

Pauly, I am scared of supplements, hormones, and all that stuff. I like to keep it simple, eating whole foods, like eggs, salads, veggies, nonantibiotic meats, seeds, fish. Lots of water and a little non-caffeine tea. I still drink coffee in the morning, but stay away from caffeine the rest of the day. I have looked at vitamins and many have additives, plus, do we really need large amounts of them? Once I took vitamin E and started getting bad headaches! As soon as I stopped taking the E, the headaches went away. Wouldn't it be fun to go away to a place where you could eat clean, meditate, exercise, be in nature and just heal? Shoutout to anyone who knows a place like that. I want to go!

Cyn, making progress in the yard, good for you. Just be careful not to hurt yourself or overdo it. I am feeling like juicing a bit so will stop by the store afterwork and get some ginger and more veggies and fruits. There is something about spring that makes you want to do a cleanse, make positive changes!

      Have a good one.

        Greetings All,

Star, I am pretty much in your camp regarding supps, hormones, vitamins, etc. I think we are so fortuanate to live in a country where access to abundant, good and healthy foods is readily available. Interesting that the E gave you headaches. I guess your body was telling you "enough!". I love Easter week. I think it is even more special than Christmas. I recorded Tyler Perry's live musical of The Passion performed in New Orleans. It was on this past Sunday, I forget what channel. Anyway, I've been watching it a bit at a time this week. It's the Passion story told in modern times set in 2016. Did you happen to see it? Of course for me it holds special interest bc my daughter lives there and it's fun to see landmaks!

Lav, how long ago did you have your chicken coop built? I know it will sound silly but I miss our chicken coop! LOL! I miss it more than the chickens! Will the Amish guys come out and take measurements or did you and YB take the measurements? One of my favorite pieces of furniture here in my home is an Amish built side board. Incredible quality!

Cyn, Well done on bringing your rock formation back to the light! I know looking at it will give you peace. I noticed you used the word meditation and I used the word prayer. When I used the word prayer I thought about how misunderstood that word seems to be anymore, at least in my opinion. I almost worry I'll be dismissed as a religious fanatic by just using the word. I chose to use it anyway. Something is really going wrong in our country and in the world when I find myself thinking carefully about using the word "prayer". Anyway, you mentioned Lovingkindess Meditation, which I would compare to contemplative prayer. If you are interested in this comparison, meditation vs. prayer as I am, here is an interesting article:
http://blogs.vancouversun.com/2012/0...-most-realize/. Star, I think you would appreciate this article. You and I are always questing for a spiritual connection! :happy2:

Pauly, even tho I stay away from supps, etc. I am a believer in probiotics. I know Mr. D has benefitted from them. Come to Ohio. We have blue bird nesting boxes placed on our fence posts. We see blue birds all the time! What a delight to see that flash of blue!

        Happy Maundy Thursday, AF.

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse.

Morning friends,Dill, when I use the word pray,I mean pray,I do think words get thrown around that makes them lose their meaning such as"pray that I lose 5 lbs this week" or something to that effect, supps are confusing but I do think some can be beneficial, as far as probiotic its all in finding the right strains, mailed Bobbi's package out yesterday used UPS and it was $35 but it'll be there by Friday, she has to sign for it and there was no line its expensive but at least its sent, hello Lav,Cyn,Star hope we all have a great Thursday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

            Greetings friends!

My granddaughter didn't wake up until 15 minutes after my arrival this morning. It was nice to have a few quiet moments to talk to my daughter, ha ha!

Star, glad you are catching up on your sleep. I never sleep well when I travel either. I could still see the huge moon when I left home this morning.

Dill, our chicken house is 12 years old this Spring. It's in good shape except for the doors (weather got to them). They build everything to standard sizes so once you ger their attention getting reolacements is not too difficult. They will call when the new doors are ready. Speaking of bluebirds, we still have the bluebird nesting box our son built when he was in cub scouts

Cyn, planning more jungle work today? Ha ha!
I am scared to death of the poison ivy hiding out there or I would be doing the same, believe me

Pauly, the weather service here has predicted a high allergy day. I feel a little doomed, LOL
I hope you have a great day!

Wishing a wonderful AF day for all!

              Good morning...

Dill, I have not seen the Passion show you mentioned, but is sounds great. I love Easter week too! In nature, the magnolia, daffodils and forsythia are bright spaces of color, so beautiful, those Easter colors. I have to try and get some eggs tonight after work, I love coloring eggs. I also love the Easter music at church, very uplifting. I know what you mean about praying, but have noticed that many have used their religious beliefs to judge negatively, control, and hurt, instead of love, kindness and mercy. I remember singing you will know we are christians by our love, by our love, and that is just not true anymore, unfortunately. Remember as kids getting an Easter outfit to wear to church, big hats, gloves, and the family celebration! It was wonderful. We are supposed to have a beautiful day, sunny and in the 60s.

Lav, I know you have enjoyed those chickens and their eggs, I would love some eggs from a farm, lucky you.

Pauly, hope you have a great Friday.

Hello Cyn, to all, have a good one.

                Morning all -

Long sweep of a day yesterday, sorry I didn't get online to post. I did do one thing just for myself yesterday (trying to learn to do that every so often) - I went to a knitting group that I last went to in 2012! Last night was a small group of just 5 of us; they've been meeting regularly for years, so I was a bit of an outsider, but I went anyway. I'm not even working on a project, but I brought my 'question' projects and got some useful answers. I'm glad that I did it, but it was clearly outside of my comfort zone -- after 2 hours, I was anxious to get home! Ridiculous!

Star - I well remember the new clothes, hats and gloves (new patent leather shoes some years too). I know that somewhere I have a pic of my family standing by a magnolia in the front yard that is just starting to bloom. I'm holding up 3 fingers, so I must have been three. I hope I can find that pic some day... Enjoy the flowers and colors...

Dill - I'll take a look at that article, thanks. I grew up in the christian church and have fond memories of the ritual and the music, and I do have a deep spiritual connection, though I'm not sure many would classify it by a religious term. When it comes to prayer, I prefer (for myself) to have a practice that calls on self-discipline, awareness and responsibility; so I think that probably puts me outside the classical definition of prayer, but maybe I'll know more after I read the article!

Lav - we have a small shed here that the previous owners used as a chicken coop. It's a mess inside and we use it just for storing things - but I think the mice moved in! I think it would take a haz-mat team to clean it out for any purpose. Sometimes I think I should just put it up for someone to take away and use it for their chickens! TBD... Yes, I am outside doing my thing - I feel like I need to get these small trees and brush (honeysuckle!!!) out before they leaf out, or it will be too hard and too late. So I do about 45 minutes a day, just in training. I'm sorry you have to deal with poison ivy - so far (knock wood) that's one invasive I don't have to deal with - though I see a staggering amount of garlic mustard, uuugh! The ticks are out already, so I'm back to wearing my head-to-toe gear, sad.

Hey Pauly -good luck with your journey to health. I wanted just to give a quick note to everyone about supplements; it's of course best to get everything from food but there are people (I am one) that have damage in the gut that makes absorption difficult to impossible. In that case, some supplements are needed to 'jump-start' the healing process and get things back on track. I feel lucky to be working with someone who has directed this most recent quest for me - it's a really confusing world out there, even for food choices. That said, I do think that like AL, sugar is pretty much useless as far as humans are concerned! Just my two cents.

Yesterday I got tired of dealing with things that I have to cut down or pull out! So I made a quick trip to the local fabulous nursery that had their opening day. I bought a tray of pansies and some startup greens- it was great to see the colors! Our daffodils and other bulbs haven't bloomed yet, but at least they are up.

                Happy Friday, all -

                  Good morning friends,

Moving like a slug here this morning. It's cloudy & it is supposed to rain at some point.
I need to make a run to visit cemeteries so I'm giving Curves a skip.
Easter conjures up some nice memories with church, new clothes, baskets of goodies & all that. Things are quite a bit different now but that's OK.

Hello to Star, Dill, Cyn & Pauly. I hope everyone has a great AF day.
Tomorrow I wake up to my 7 year AF anniversary & couldn't be happier. I just don't even want to imagine where I would be now if I had continued on the dark path I was on. I am grateful

                      Good morning...

Lav, congrats on seven years AF. What an accomplishment!!!!!!! :welldone:

I caught a cold, darn it, my first one in a long time. Not happy about it. I am going to go exercise, then go to the store and pick up some ginger and drink the ACV and ginger tea that Cyn recommended in the past and worked for me. Tastes icky, but it really helped! Thanks Cyn. I think it's great that you went to the knitting group, how did you find that group? I am still looking for women in my own age group to make a few friends.

Pauly, Easter will be nice, making a special dinner, being with family.

                      Hi Dill.

                      Have a great AF Saturday!!!

A big Congratulations to you, Lav!:yay::welldone: What an awsome achievement!

Star, sorry you got that cold. Darn. I am sure your tea concoction will help tho.

Pauly, maybe you'll be feeling Easter when Louie gets his Paw Patrol basket. I bet he'll love it!

Cyn, Hope you find that picture. I have a favorite Easter pic from when I was 6 yo, standing in front of a blooming forsythia. Yes, wearing a new dress and patent leather shoes! LOL

Sorry for my absence yesterday. I started my volunteer job and had to be there at 6:00 AM. It was a steep learnging curve for me and a long shift, coming from a retired point of view. I didn't get out of there until 11:00. Whew! I think I am going to enjoy it, but it's early on so I'm not for sure yet. I was exhausted by the end and really didn't do much for the rest of the day except for getting the last two little things for the Easter Baskets and making dinner. Then I collapsed in front of the TV and vegged out!

Let's all enjoy a peaceful and AF Saturday!

Good Saturday morning friends, happy Easter eve

Yep, made it to my 7th AF anniversary despite everything & everyone, ha ha!!!
I think this just proves what we say over & over - it's a choice. I chose to eliminate AL as an option, no matter what. Putting my stubborn nature to work FOR me was definitely a smart move

Star, I hope your cold is not too bad. I still have a cough but the rest of the symptoms have cleared up. Enjoy your day!

Dill, wow, a 6 am start to your day? Ouch!
I hope that was just for orientation & not your usual starting time going forward.
You have every right to be tired after a day like that!

                          Hello to Cyn & Pauly!
I hope everyone has a wonderful AF day. I made last minute plans to have my son & his family over for dinner tomorrow. No one is interested in a sit down meal so I am just going to grill some burgers & chicken. The grandsons will be happy, LOL

Have a great AF day everyone!

Congrats, Lav! 7 years - a magical number. You are, as always, an inspiration.

Dill - 6 AM? Truly? For a volunteer position? Holy Cow that sounds like a long day - no wonder you were tired! I hope that you get good rest today, and will be able to enjoy the Easter holiday.

Pauly - sometimes relaxed holidays are the best. I haven't had an Easter dinner here for a long time, so I've invited a couple over - we'll see if that works out.

Star - so sorry about your cold. Change of seasons is hard, plus you were traveling, which makes it harder. Good luck with kicking it out!

Lots of shopping and cooking for me today - SD is coming for overnight, and maybe guests tomorrow for dinner.

                            Happy Saturday all --

I feel lousy, this cold has me achy, chills, stuffed head, the usual cold stuff. Darn. I drank the tea yesterday, but was not able to kick it. Going to do what I can today, not worry about anything else.

                                Have a good one.
