Hello All, I made it thru Friday too! I am going to stick with the volunteer job for a while longer before I decide if I am going to commit long term. It really is a long stretch of time for one thing. But yesterday the time went much faster because I had some crochet with me. And I do enjoy interacting with people through out the day, so that's a plus. But the register and handling money is still something I find stressful. And there is kind of a lot of work at the end of the shift, cleaning things up and putting them away. I don't mind the work. But I do mind the stress I feel when cashing out. So, I'll just give it time and see if it gets any easier. If not, I guess I can let it go.
Pauly, we all have things about ourselves that we could stand to improve! I know I do.
Cyn, I hope you get a big chunk of solitude wrapped up in a bow tomorrow!:happy2: I know what you mean about wanting a quiet birthday. It's sweet of Mr. Tree to want to do something special for you tho.
Lav, yes I did enjoy my time with my friend the other day. We both teared up while saying goodbye. We will probably see each other again but the distance will definitely change things. It's hard to see her go.
Star, I'm glad you are feeling better but it does sound like you need to be gentle with yourself. Have a restful day.
LB, does your cleaning business keep you busy full time? How many homes do you do in a day?
Let's all have a great AF Saturday!Last edited by dill; June 4, 2016, 06:26 AM.Dill

Good Saturday morning friends!
Looks like we are in for a soggy weekend here, oh well. I'll pass the time cleaning something, cooking/baking something, etc. I don't do sitting still very well, ha ha!
While reading my email from the DailyOM this morning I got to thinking about the online courses I've taken over the past few years. One of the best was called 'Reinventing the Body, Resurrecting the Soul' by Deepak Chopra. The course consisted of a total of 14 lessons, one delivered each week. I think I just may go back thru some of that for a 'refresher' to prepare myself for the upheaval about to descend on June 10. I am eternally grateful to have all of you to help me get thru the extreme nonsense of a YB retirement. The few years leading up to his previous retirement were so harsh I dove into the wine bottle just to shut him out. Obviously I am no longer doing that but I can clearly see why I did back then. This time around I have found I am better equipped to mentally shut him out without harming myself. Life shouldn't have to be this difficult but it is what is is I guess
Star, it takes a while to completely clear your system of a viral assault. Take care of yourself first & foremost!
Dill, glad you enjoyed time with your friend. I just had an email last evening from my old HS friend. She wants to get together next Sunday & tell me about their plans for moving to Florida. I am not thrilled about losing another friend but she deserves to be happy. We have only been seeing each other once or twice per year anyway but still, I will miss her.
I don't blame you for being uncomfortable handling money at your volunteer job. That would not be up my alley at all. Is there any possibility of switching into another position at the hospital that does not involve handling money?
Cyn, I hope you have a wonderful, peaceful & relaxing birthday tomorrow :heartbeat:
Pauly & LB, how are you girls doing today?

Good evening all -
Busy day cleaning the house and getting ready for tomorrow, (so that I don't feel like I have to do anything in particular tomorrow.) Got the Guest Bedroom and bath all cleaned up and changed out for SD to come for an overnight. Goodness, the sparks fly between her and her dad -- not too soothing an evening, but whatever. We're due to spend 3 days next week together at the Cape... I hope tonight let's off some of the steam so that it can be a relaxing time there (for them! I'll be cooking!)
Lav, it will be too rainy to go to Innisfree tomorrow. I'm disappointed, as I have never been there, even though it is pretty close. I wanted to do a 'first' for myself tomorrow, but I don't think it will work out, oh well. I may use the rainy time to transplant some things here in the yard. That would make me happy! I've been thinking of moving these plants for a few years!
Pauly - good for you for going to the therapist! Lav - I love Louise Hay, but haven't yet gotten her newsletters, so thanks for that. I will get on the Daily Om also. A client of mine sent me one of the Dailies that was about 'sweeping' your space and it was a great post - I look forward to others. Star - I hope you are feeling better today. Dill - so sorry that the volunteer job is stressful, I hope you can find a good middle ground. Sorry about your friend -- I hope you can make trips to see her.
Well, off to slick up the dinner dishes -- wishing all a great AF night --

Snoopy I'm from Southern Louisiana. It is a very rainy weekend.
I went to Chuck E Cheeses's today. A date with a gentleman who has a 5 year old boy. What a great time. My daughter is thrilled. Finally I can shut up about grandchildren. Well we will see.No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

Good morning friends,
Lav, yes there may be a possibility of me changing to a different volunteer position at the hospital and I may do that if I don't get past this feeling of stress. As I mentioned earlier tho, I will give the situation time to see if things improve. I wonder where your daughter would like to go for the girls time away she asked you to do with her. Have you two talked about any destinations? Will it be just the two of you?
Cyn, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope your birthday is filled with quiet moments and peace. I also hope the weather isn't too soggy for you so that you can do your transplanting. Interesting that sparks fly between Mr. T and SD. I never would have guessed it for some reason. I hate conflict and bickering. I hope you can wrap yourself in a bubble of peace! LOL
Pauly, I used to read the horoscopes everyday and for each person in my family. I thought it was fun. Over the years I have stopped doing that but every now and then I still find myself reading the horoscopes.
LB, that's great that you had a nice date! I don't know you well enough to understand how dating someone with a 5 yo can help you shut up about grandchildren, but I'll just accept that bringing a 5 yo into your life is a positive and "that's a good thing" to quote good old Martha Stewart! LOL
Star, I hope you have a great Sunday. Suddenly I'm in a rush bc I just looked at the clock and I'm going to be late for church if I don't get a move on!
Have a great day everyone!Dill

Good Sunday morning friends!
Lots of low hanging clouds here that will be bringing storms this afternoon, oh boy!
Guess I'll run out for some supplies before the 60 mph winds arrive - geez.
LB, two of my grandkids are 5 right now & they are tons of fun. Chuck E Cheese is insane but they love the place, ha ha! I hope the rest of your weekend goes well
Dill, I've been looking for hotel deals in the Delaware beach area where we have gone the past 2 years but I haven't found anything affordable yet. It's much cheaper to go mid-week & not a Friday, Saturday, Sunday thing. I'm not sure we can pull this off but I will keep looking. I'm not real interested in bankrupting myself right now, ha ha!
I hope things work out with your volunteer job.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CYN!
I hope you have a wonderful, peaceful day
Pauly, make sure you look at the Louise Hay newsletter. She is an amazing woman with lots of great stories & gives solid advice. I hope speaking to the therapist is helpful for you.
Star, are you feeling OK now? I sure hope so.
Have a wonderful AF day everyone!

Rain, rain, rain. And then some more rain. My grass is crazy. I'm going to have to set that lawnmower to the highest setting when it finally dries out.
Lav the Delaware Beach sounds nice. I hope you can find something. No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

Well, the rain & the high winds knocked out power just before 5 pm
I'm using the borrowed MiFi from YB's workplace just to check in real quick.
I hope they get the power restored before I hsve to try to sleep with no AC. I am such a baby, ha ha!!
LB, I hope to get away for a few nights with my girls. We made the trip the last two years, it was nice. I hope your rain lets ip soon. Our tractor is currently broken so the grass is getting out of control here too!!
Pauly, keep practicing. The power of positive thinking is mighty
Peace to eveyone tonight.

Good morning...
Well, I am finally feeling human again, that cold was intense. Work today, and I can breathe and the aching seems to have gone away. Yay.
Lav, hope you can go on your trip. Positive thinking does take practice and does work. Also, focusing on peace and detachment. Good luck, hopefully your new peaceful ways will go a long way in making the retirement go more smoothly. So will a weekend away. I sometimes don't care what it costs, I need to get away, and it helps.
Dill, hope your weekend went well, the hospital gig sounds stressful, nice you can quit if you decide.
LB, glad things are going well for you, this is your season for hot and rainy, right? It's been like that here too, but I know in the south it is way more intense.
Cyn, Happy Birthday, enjoy. With your husband home you are super busy, sounds like he loves to entertain and engage in social activities.
Pauly, hope you are doing well, positive thinking helps even though life will remain challenging. I just think about it differently, then feel good about taking care of myself. I was sick, did no housework, got takeout one night, and just rested, now I feel so much better. No guilt, at all. So, for me self-care and thinking positively are so important.
Have a great AF Monday!

Morning all - thanks so much for all the good wishes. This was a decade birthday, so family really wanted to celebrate! They gave me my gifts right away first thing in the morning, and then we went out to breakfast. The day was rainy, but perfect for transplanting, so I did that for a couple of hours in the pouring rain-- I'm like a kid in my rain suit - I feel invincible against the wet. I moved a couple of things and then transplanted ivy around the bird bath -- that was enough, I was worn out after that. The 'party' was just cake for 4 other people, so it was nice and quiet. People brought me flowers from their own gardens - what a lovely thing to see the bouquets this morning. HB is happy - he is proud that he made a party all by himself (sort of...).
LB - glad that you had a good date! I get the lawn thing - the heat and rain just seem to make it grow at warp speed. Lav - I gave myself the 'Reinventing' class as a birthday present; I can't wait to get started! I believe, as the class seems to say, that age and the physical body are not our main concern... that was a great message. Good luck finding a hideaway for your Girl Time. Have you tried Air B&B? We have good luck finding apartments on that site. Star - SO glad that you finally are feeling a bit better - it sounds like a bad bug - go slowly as you continue to heal; congrats on your self-care. Pauly - good job keeping your goal to be in the positive zone! Dill - how is you summer going? Are you going out on the boat? I hope Mr. Dill's hand is healing.
I'm appreciating some alone time this morning; back to a little routine, which I always appreciate. Wishing all a great Monday and wonderful, AF week.

Good Monday morning friends!
That was a pretty fierce storm yesterday, geez! Grateful the power is back on, especially the AC, ha ha!
Glad to hear you are all better Star! I hate those warm weather viruses, yuck.
Focusing on peace & detachment seems to be our #1 sanity savers
Cyn, glad you had a good birthday!
I think you will love the 'Reinventing' course, I sure did.
I only hope I can find a way to continue my peaceful morning routine once YB retires. Enjoy yours while you can
