Good evening friends,
What a day waking up to the horrible news of the mass shooting in Orlando. I don't even know how to fully process these things. It certainly does not get any easier considering they happen so frequently in the US. Why so much hate? What's the point?
I met my old friend for lunch today which was nice. But she laid out her plans for relocating to Florida which left me feeling sad. We have been friends since the late 60's ~ a long time. There's just no replacing someone who has been thru all of your life with you. She is even my daughter's godmother.
Star, glad to hear you are getting better, bit by bit. these things do take time..
Since you asked - YB has managed to hurt his back already trying jump into all the work needing to be done around here. It's a chronic thing with him & usually better in a few days. He needs to learn to pace himself, haha!!!
Cyn, I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about the grass. It's a lot more satisfying playing with flower & veggie beds anyway
Dill, I hope you get some quality rest!
Pauly, I hope your anniversary celebration was nice, burger or no burger, ha ha!!
Have a peaceful night everyone!

Good morning...
Woke up late today, had a lot of fresh air yesterday, could have slept in. But, it's Monday, back to work and my routine. Orlando...as long as anyone has access to guns, there will be horrible shootings. This was against the LGBTQ community, another hate crime. People have hurt my son and wanted to hurt him for being gay since he was in kindergarten, nice huh? I don' get the hating.
Lav, YB hurt himself already? Oh my goodness. He has all the time in the world now. My thoughts go out to you. Do you think if your friend moves to Florida, you might go visit her in the winter for a long weekend or something? That would be something to look forward to for both of you.
Dill, hope things are going well for you, another hot humid week.
Cyn, I am sure it is nicer in NE, maybe a little cooler. Are you in a stretch with no time away now? Routine is good.
Hey Pauly, hope you feel better, I love a burger with no bun, and those unwiches at Jimmy John's are good too.
HAve a great Monday, AF.

Good Monday morning friends!
The news coverage of yesterday's shooting is pretty intense. I will be turning it off soon, I can only take so much.
Sometimes I wonder if we have enough collective strength to overcome all this stuff but I sure hope so.
Star, I've been waking up extra early for some reason. I think my body senses sunlight or something, ha ha!
If I ever do decide to go visit my friend in Florida I'll be going on my own. There's no more traveling together with YB in the future.
I hope your work week goes well
I am heading out to Curves then back here to make preparations for the arrival of my new flock of chicks sometime this week - yay!
Wishing everyone a wonderful AF day!

Morning friends,Orlando shooting is very tragic but I think its gonna be in the news for awhile, my thoughts are with the families I wish they'd quit plastering the shooter all over making him a celebrity in a way,I hate when they do that crap, tomorrow the kids head out I'd ask for extra support but nobody's ever around during my trigger times so I'll hafta buck up and deal with it like a grown up,Star,I don't like bunless anything exept salad Hahahaha! It was a fun weekend and I hate that its over, also worried about next weekend when its just hubs and me,I hope he doesn't drive me nuts,I had Louie from 8:30 am yesterday until around 7 cuz he.wanted to come over early,ok by me but iI had to grocery shop and he wanted everything! Including a "get well" balloon Hahahaha! Turd,I told him no balloon but caved on a $10 bubble set, can't say no to that face sometimes hi to Dill and Cyn,hope we all have an easy MondayI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Pauly, I wish you extra strength tomorrow and beyond. I'm sorry none of us are around when your witching hour is at its worst. I suppose even just posting then and getting an answer later is at least some help. It's too bad the boards are so slow lately. Do you go to other sites? I did years ago have a membership on the rational recovery site, but I don't go there anymore and in fact I don't think I ever posted there, just read.
Lav, I know very well how you are feeling regarding your friend who is moving to Florida. Geez! At least my friend is only moving an hour away! There's no substitute for the kind of friendship you had with her. Lucky you have your family to fill your life. How many new chicks are you getting? How exciting! What kind? Any aracauna?
Star, my heart goes out to you as a mother watching her child suffer simply for being who he is. It isn't right. No one should be treated that way! However, I am a firm believer in gun rights. Limit access to guns and it will only put limits on the law abiding, IMO. My hb remarked this morning that it was too bad that apparently no one inside the club had a concealed carry. People with evil intent will always find ways to find guns. That's a sad fact. The genie is already out of the bottle on guns. I assume I have a minority opinion on this issue here on our thread.
Cyn, I must say I would be weary of Mr. T and SD constantly locked in whatever their dynamic is. It's not fair to you! Next time they suggest a family trip I think you should book them a week with Dr. Phil and leave you in peace! LOL!
Hello LB, hope you are doing well.
I was pulling weeds in my daylily bed when I saw a little green thing poking up out of a yellow blossom. On closer inspection I came to realize it was a little spring peeper! How precious it was. I wish my little nature lover gdaughter had been here to see it! Have a great af Monday everyone.Dill

Late night check-in here. I'll be back early tomorrow morning - somehow the day really got away from me; I was chained to my desk on this beautiful day!!
Dill - after reading several articles about the shooting, there are just a couple of points I'll quickly mention. First, about concealed weapons - there were multiple police officers exchanging fire with the shooter from early on in the incident, and they could not take him down or control the situation, so I'm not sure what a non-professional would have contributed. Also, whatever happens with gun control, I cannot understand why non-military people are allowed to buy these rapid-fire guns meant for destruction. I read an article saying that those weapons are made explicitly for maximum destruction, and that they will be more and more used in the coming years -no more bombs, this is much more effective as a killing tool. So very very sad.
I hope that all people can come together and just send some light to the grieving families and friends. What a shock to that community. I have often been in the pretty downtown area of Orlando, and it is usually so filled with happy people and families. Let's send ourselves and the world some peace and comfort.
More tomorrow -- wishing all a peaceful AF night --

Good morning...
Well, back to the medcheck for me yesterday afterwork, I coughed all day. Stronger meds and breathing treatment. This is such a bad bug, I am struggling to make it through each day and I love summer so I am sure I will bet better now!!!!
Dill, I agree with Cyn, there is no need for assault rifles and war weapons for civilians. Other guns, I guess OK, I don't know, I was not brought up with guns, don't hunt, and don't want to hurt anyone. Better laws have to happen, any bad person can get an assault rifle and murder numerous people. This is so horrible, LGBTQ people are just people, deserve respect and safety. Thanks for the support.
Cyn, thanks for the support too, hopefully something will be done now. We'll see, and it is an election year too so will continue to be in the news. Our families have their quirks and we love them, the drama ebbs and flows with my family, sounds like the same with yours. Sending light and love to the families too.
Pauly, You are doing so well with being AF, let's keep the onward flow. Next week is for you, get a project done, make a new recipe, shop, go out to dinner, a movie, get a new book, whatever you want. It is not all bad with the kids away for a week. You have the power to have a relaxing and fun time. Go for it. I am used to the freedom now, to do what I want after work, with no one to have to rush home for. It is nice after all the years of being responsible for others. Thinking of you!
Lav, it would be so fun for you to go to Florida on your own. I am going next week for a work conference, (I have to get better) and look forward to alone time, relaxing, meeting some people at the conference, learning new ideas, and then looking forward to coming home. I know it is a big adjustmet to have YB home all the time...sending support and understanding your way. Have a good day.

Morning all -
Star! I'm worried about you -- I really hope that you get better soon, my gosh this bug has really taken a toll. Can you take a little more time off work to get rested?
Pauly - I love all the suggestions that Star gave. It's a good reminder for all of us - sometimes it's a great thing to break out of our own 'mold' and do something new. Good luck as you move forward AF!!
Dill - so glad that you found a peeper. I'm not sure I would know one if I saw one, but I have been coming across a ton of little frogs, I don't remember ever seeing them before in every part of the lawn and gardens. What are you reading nowadays? Any good books? I am just at the end of Pride and Prejudice, and it's a page-turner!
Lav - so sorry about losing such a close friend to distance. Maybe, as Star says, there is a trip for you alone to FL in the future? Hope so.
LB - hope you are doing OK in the summer heat.
I'm going to spend some time bush-whacking today; I really need to move around... yesterday I was really stiff and got a gigantic headache from being on the computer too long! BTW - I recently read a great article that Chill posted on FB. It was about how our brains 'delete' and clean up themselves while we sleep. It was really interesting, and at the end it says that thinking about the things you love and are grateful for just before sleep helps the brain decide which neural pathways to clean up - it strengthens the ones that you use (love) and removes the garbage from the ones that you don't use. So let's use those Love, Compassion, and Gratitude neural pathways!!
Wishing all a great AF day --

Good Tuesday morning friends!
Looking forward to mostly sun & 80 degrees today
I need to put the final preparations in place for my new flock of chicks arriving this week. Fun times ahead.
Tomorrow is my granddaughter's pre-K graduation so I will be running out for that.
My view on gun laws is completely opposite that of my spouse, naturally. That's one discussion we just cannot have anymore. I insisted on a gun free household while the kids were growing up & now the same with the grandkids here so much.
Private citizens do not need an AR-15, not ever. I believe most of the 'bad people' in this country are mentally unstable people. The Orlando shooter has been shown to be mentally unstable, he should not have been able to buy his weapons. We need a stronger vetting process when it comes to gun sales. I don't know how to stop straw purchasers, it's insane.
Star, I sure hope you feel better soon. Maybe a few days of rest would help! We, women especially push ourselves too hard
I am doing my best to keep to my schedule & not allow YB to interfere this week, ha ha!
Cyn, I get absolutely crippled if I sit for an hour
Therefore I am better off doing something, resting for a few moments then moving on to something else. That's just the way it has to be! Good luck bush whacking & watch out for ticks. I've already pulled one off of my head & one off the dog, ugh.
I saw that article Chill posted on Facebook, it was good.
Hello to Dill. This time around I decided to go with a new breed of chicks, Rhode Island Reds. I ordered 25, sexed & hope most of them are truly girls, ha ha. There's always a few boys in the mix. I also ordered another 15 boys for YB to raise for meat birds. I've never done that before but he thinks he needs a new hobby, LOL
I am thinking of keeping my 5 amerucanas for a while longer because they are still providing those pretty blue eggs. The others need to be packed up & retired to the farm.
Pauly, tell us how you are going to fill your week while the kids are away! We want to hear good things!!
Have a great AF day everyone!

Morning friends,Lav,I'm just gonna get through and I agree with you guys on the assault rifles but I don't want laws that make it super hard for normal people to get them either, better background check, maybe some sort of mental evaluation, medical background check would help? Enough on that,I want to block it out, sorry your friend is moving, hope you keep in touch, everyone says they will but don't hello Cyn,Star and Dill,LB,hope we all have a terrific TuesdayI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Pauly, I don't know about you but I would feel better hearing you have some solid plans for the week.
Isn't there something you can get involved with to keep you calm but distracted & not worrying about the kids?
When all else fails I paint a room or clean out the chicken house or something crazy like that, LOLAF since 03/26/09

Sorry I've been MIA. I have been just falling into bed at night. Work. Gym. Dinners out. I'm so grateful to be busy again. There for awhile I just had way too much time.No matter how far you go or how fast you run, you can't get away from yourself. ....said at an AA meeting. It stuck with me.

Good morning...
I am so much better, prednizone for three days is doing the trick, and a stronger antibiotic. I made it through the day with barely any coughing, didn't sleep cause of the steroids, but only one more day of those. When I went to the doc the first time she said that if I was not better in three days to come back, so apparently she gave me weak meds to see if that would help, I just have bad luck at the doctor's office, all the time. The sicker I am, the longer it takes me to heal. Anyway, I am on the mend and have a busy time ahead of me this weekend, no time to rest, really. I am going up north to visit my deceased friend's husband and look through some of her stuff, he wants me to. Then spending the night with a friend and going to an Essential Oil party she is having on Saturday, driving back the same afternoon and Father's Day at my house on Sunday. Glad I am feeling better. I love life and want to live, enjoy my summer and continue to work at my job that I love. Plus of course family, so working on healing, nutrition and being positive.
Pauly, have fun, get a few things done on your list, and enjoy the peace, quiet and when you clean, IT WILL STAY CLEAN, till they get home. I am used to clean and organized now, so a perk of getting older and that empty nest. We get to decide our attitude, so decide to be positive and happy, it is up to you. When I raised my kids and they left to have their adventures, I realized I did my job well, they are independent (or want to be) and that is good. Dill, Lav, how did you adjust when your kids left the nest?
Cyn, I have been taking care of myself, my work is good to me, I have left early three times in the last week, then come home and rested. I have lots of days off planned for the summer and don't want to use up all my time off being sick. Yard work sounds great, have a good time soaking up Mother Nature's energy. I found a new author, Sarah McCoy, and really enjoyed the Mapmaker's Children, a historical novel. Oh, and another book about slavery, Yellow Crocus, a book from Bookbub. I love Jane Austen, what fun, Love to read!
Lav, sounds like you are doing a good job managing YB, the only thing you can do! I would think that after a time, being retired, you let yourself have a slower pace, take your time, and enjoy your hobbies and home duties. No rush rush rush like we feel we are doing all the time. Nice. I agree with you on the gun laws, it is harder to get a driver's license than an assault rifle, that is not right. Strict laws, as with driving, and common sense should rule the day.
Dill, hope you are doing well and having a lovely week. Any trips planned this summer?
LB, so happy to hear you are busy and recreating your life! You deserve all good things, AF all the way.
Happy Hump Day!
