Morning friends, Dill, yesterday I was looking up all the health benefits of blackberries and all of these awesome looking crumbles and pastries kept popping up, I was in heavenCyn,after freaking myself out imagining Trump as president and likening him to Castro or Hitler, I realized that it was all in my head and we don't even know how it would really be, it might be good and it might not be but there's nothing I can do about it anyways, except live my life peaceful and hope for the best, there's no guarantee that any president can make the world a better place but we can make our own world's a better place so that's that, end of story, no more election talk from me I treated myself to some nice facial cleanser off Amazon can't wait till it gets here, also treated myself to some booties for this winter cuz they will be comfy for work and not have too much of a heel,I'm very picky about shoes for work, they hafta be cute, comfy and not collect hair on the bottom cuz I've nearly fallen flat dozens of times cuz it gets so slick! Lav,I'd be bored without internet for 24 hours haha, always something I need to Google ,Star,I need to clean my closets and fridge too! I hate that task, yesterday Brady did the weekly deep clean and did a great job surprisingly so I gave him an extra 5 bux, alright enough jibber hope we all have a splendid day
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

      Morning all -

Pauly, mmmmm all those blackberry recipes, they sound great, have fun with that. I'm glad you found some boots you can wear at work - I always wondered how you can work on your feet all day long - probably healthier than a desk job, but still it must be tiring.

Lav - good luck with the boys today! The are lucky kids.

Star - what a great example of making a choice to feel differently - very impressive! Thanks for the example...

Dill - I sure hope all gets worked out with your friend, without you having to be too involved. Also hope you are enjoying you garden and flowers.

Wishing all a great AF Hump Day today!

"But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
        Beyond a wholesome discipline,
        be gentle with yourself. "
~excerpt from Desiderata by Max Ehrman

I think of that line often and it seems to echo what you just said Pauly about not worrying about things that may or may not come to be. Wow! Brady deserves the extra $5 IMO!

Star, yes I did give a lot of thought to our friend's situation and what we should do. I have no news on that front at the moment. Sorry you had to take a day off, but I do appreciate you reminding us about how much power we have in choosing our responses to whatever comes our way. Oh, I finally got thru The Source and I absolutely loved it! Now I am reading, Everbody Has Something to Hide, by D. Moggach. I have Hawaii on hold thru the digital downloads library. Can't wait!

Cyn, Thanks for your commentary on how you are navigating these troubled times. Self-care is always a good start and usually the last thing I think of! Ha!. I thought of you this morning when I got up very early and saw a beautiful, bright moon. It was nearly full. I'm not sure where we are in the cycle. There is something so reassuring about the fact that we can count on the lunar cycle taking place every 28 days no matter what crazy stuff is going on down here on earth!

Lav, sorry about your router! Those things seem to be pretty sensitive to thunderstorms. Remember life before routers? Our grandkids can't! LOL! Oh well, as the Jefferson Airplane lyric says: 'life is change". Like Pauly, I can't imagine going 24 hours without internet now-a-days.

        Happy AF Hump Day everyone.
        Dill

            Good evening friends!

I survived another day with the boys but I am TIRED!!!
This extra heat & humidity thing is kicking my butt too.

Star, I sure hope everything works out OK for your yard.
Honestly, all of the foundation plantings the landscaper put in when we built this place on 2003 need to be ripped out. It's overgrown & looking ridiculous & has been ignored by the YB for way too many years, ha ha!

Cyn, I hope you had an easy day today - you deserve one.

Pauly, living without internet for 24 hours is annoying in this day & age & bad for business too!!!
I need to do some Amazon shopping myself

Dill, I saw the moon come up last evening & thought UH OH, but I slept anyway. I hope I am as lucky tonight!
I've worked hard over the years to defeat my natural tendency to over-worry about things. It's another one of those learned bad habits that you can break with a bit of hard work

            Peace to everyone tonight!

              Good morning...

Dill, so glad you loved the Source, it is such a good read. Hawaii is a great story too, the way he writes, he shows us how humanity is so courageous and resilient and interesting. Also, he tells the truth about the hardships and tragedies all people go through. Thanks for sharing that with me. I need to read another one of his books soon.

Lav, I bet you are tired, I feel exhausted after I babysit. Kids just go go go, and I am not used to that. Regarding my yard project, I am going to intervene and ask for lots of space between plants, because I know that in a few years, if they cram them in, I will have to pull them out due to crowding. Alot was done yesterday and I am home today as the hot tub is being delivered. Very excited about that too! I have to learn how to take care of it and keep the water clean, but it is also a spa that helps with various aches and pains, so it will be helpful as we get older as long as we can get in and out safely.

Pauly, my main goal with politics is to make sure to vote and encourage others to do the same. Very important this year. I love blackberries too, did you make anything? Down the road there is a farm and they now have sweet corn, cucumbers and zucchini for sale. Yum. I love this time of year.

Cyn, hope you are doing well, know you are busy.

To all, have a great Thursday.

Hello fellow moon watchers! It turns out the moon I saw was beginning the waning part of the cycle. Also, that full moon was called a "Buck Moon", so naturally I had to look up why! Here's what I found:

The name "buck moon" is one of three names given to the moon in North America in July because it arrives during the time when male deer, called "bucks," are beginning to grow their antlers. Other names include the "hay moon," when farmers are beginning to store their hay, and "thunder moon," for the number of thunderstorms that occur at this time, as the Almanac noted.

Star, you are right about Michener's ability to capture the human struggles. Love the way he can frame them in the time and place, too. I so admire people that can write like that!

Pauly, another thing to love about the moon: the way it connects us to each other even tho we live great distances apart! I will perhaps always think of you and this thread when I see the moon.

Lav, try to keep cool today. I'm afraid I cannot tolerate high heat and humidity so will have to be confined to the indoors today. It's almost worse than the cabin fever of winter!

Cyn, Hidy ho! I pulled some PI out the other day while weeding. It was just one plant trying to get started in my Live Forever bed. I had to nip that in the bud!! I used my gloved hand to do it, then immediately threw the glove in the wash with a bunch of dirty rags.

Ok, let's all have a great AF Thursday in spite of the heat!

                  Happy Thursday all!

I've been watching the moon as well - it seemed extra-bright on the night it was full - I thought of you, Lav! But I slept well, and more importantly, the dogs did too! Often a full moon makes them act funny during the night. I've seen an article about this moon, and how to use its energy -- I'll try to find it and post it here.

Dill - thanks for the info, as always! Gosh, I started itching when I read about you finding PI! I'm leaving mine now until I return from this next work job - I'm presenting there, and I can't afford to be covered in welts! Also, I've read that pulling it out by the roots is the best way, so good for you - I poisoned some (in my panic), and thank goodness I marked where it was - it nearly disappeared, and those dead leaves are still full of the oil. So I'll collect the dead remains and pull up the roots. Then I'm going to put cardboard over the spots and mark them for next year. Lesson learned!

Lav - take care of yourself! I can't imagine taking care of 2 boys all day, that would totally do me in!

Pauly - how great that you have Brady take responsibility for some of the house stuff. And how great that he did a good job! I'm sure that the extra $$ will be a good incentive!

Star - you are smart to be directive with the plantings - you will be glad that you did. Wow, a hot tub - that sounds like it will be good hydro-therapy.

Well, off to do work and also to mow before it gets too hot - we're headed for a scorching weekend. The mower stopped mid-mow just before our last guests arrived. We've been doing OK with the land guys mowing, but the dog yard is overgrown! So far I have changed the oil, replaced the gas, made 3 trips to the Auto parts store to get the correct deep-socket wrench, taken out the sparkplug and cleaned it (no go). Finally got the correct new sparkplug, and a new air cleaner just for good measure. That mower better start today!

                  Happy AF day to all!

Morning friends, no,no recipes for the blackberries for me,the last thing I need is delectable pastries laying around haha, smoothie use only I love how we're all connected by the moon, it's awesome, it did impact my sleep though, or hormones did, seems TOM and full moons coincide for me nearly every month, isn't that weird? Winslow was effected by the moon too,I let him out early yesterday and he was out there barking all crazily, had to shoo him back into the house so he wouldn't wake up everyone, hope we all have a wonderful Thursday, positive and peaceful please

                      Good evening friends,

I had a kidless day today & that's a good thing. Two days in a row with those two guys was rough, Lol
Slept until 3:15 when Maxie decided to go out. It was a quick trip for her but it took me a long time to get back to sleep, oh well. She was bright & alert today, her appetite has returned & she even cleaned out the other dog's bowl, ha ha! I am fiddling around with her meds & think I have the right combo going now. Too much & she gets sick - she has a sensitive stomach & GI system.

Gosh, all this talk about Michener's novels. I think the last time I read something of his was back in the 70's, pre-kids. It was Chesapeake, very good but I haven't had time to sit long enough since, ha ba!

Hello to Star, Cyn, Dill & Pauly!
Everyone sounds pretty good, that makes me happy.
Still hot & humid here. Tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day here in the past four years or some such thing. Philly is getting ready for the DNC & making plans & getting supplies in to take care of the protesters, police & security who will be out in the heat next week. They are trying to talk the homeless into going to shelters but that is usually a problem, they don't want to go.

Grateful for the working AC here
I'm eating light & getting enough water so I don't crap out myself, ugh.

                      Peace to everyone tonight!

                        Good morning...

So glad it is Friday!!!! Very hot here and has been for days, I say in except when I have to go somewhere! Yesterday was a long but good day, cleaned out two closets and worked with the crew to get things done. The hot tub is in, I went in 2x yesterday, the first time was too cold, the second time to hot. I don't know quite what I am doing, but it was still fun. The work won't be done till next week, they are taking forever, but at least part of the patio is in.

Cyn, be careful with that PI, I did not even go near it once I knew where it was, I cannot afford to have another outbreak, too uncomfortable. I would love the energy information re the moon, hope you stay cool this weekend.

Lav, I can always read a Michener novel, just little by little, the stories are so good. Any plans this weekend? You and YB are doing well it seems and may it continue.

Dill, interesting info about the moon, it was so cloudy here I couldn't see it. This is a hot little summer in the Midwest, lots of rain, humidity, and heat! I am lucky, air conditioning at home and work so I don't melt.

Pauly, I bet blackberry smoothies are excellent! I saw on another thread you were thinking about an event you were invited to, go or not? As I get older, I only go to events if I want to, otherwise, I just don't have the time. Just my take on it.

                        Have a great Friday, AF.

                          Morning all!

Star - your patio really sounds like it is coming along!! Have fun with the hot tub - we had one here when we moved in, but I could never figure it out! Even if it is taking extra time, the effort in getting everything done will be so worth it. Enjoy --

Lav - SO glad that you got a day off. That's good news about Maxie - of course your nurse intuition would figure things out! A sensitive GI can really make life miserable for the pets and their owners, take it from me! Oh dear, the heat sounds terrible for all the outside workers for the coming convention, that's too bad. Can anyone say 'climate change'?

Dill - how's things there? Probably super-hot like everywhere!

Pauly - it makes total sense that you are on a monthly schedule with the moon - we forget how bound up with the moon cycle our bodies are. We are mostly water - the moon affects the tides all over the oceans, it not too hard to affect human bodies too (and dogs too, I guess!) Your smoothies sound great. Thanks so much for the Peace and Positive emotions wishes -- sending those right back at you!

The heat has reached us here now - looking at the 90s for the next few days. So far we have been coping - I have a whole 'protocol' in place with fans, etc. The worry is that now the nights are not getting very cool; I need those night temps to give us a break! I feel for the dog sitters coming here to stay - but they don't have A/C at their places either, so I guess they can cope.

At dusk yesterday, I realized that it was my last chance to get some things planted that have been languishing in their plastic containers on the deck for a month! So in the waning light, I rushed outside and got 5 things into the ground. Not too great that it is hot the next few days, but we are expecting thunderstorms today, and I'll at least have 4 days to water them in. They wouldn't have made it 3 weeks without getting into the ground anyway!

Wishing all a great AF day today, and a restful, peaceful evening.

Good morning all, just a quick check in here as I have loads of chores to do before heading out to volunteer. I'm sitting here with the windows open enjoying the cool morning air before the day turns in to a blast furnace! I am listening to the cicada bug chorus which always makes me a bit melancholy because to me it signals the coming end of the summer season.

Pauly, Cyn, Lav and Star, let's all have a good, peaceful af Friday.

Morning friends, Star,it a coworker having a housewarming on Sunday, I want to see the house but she's a heavy drinker and I used to party with the other co-workers hard back in the day,I don't need that memory coming back, yeah sure it's easy to say I'm not drinking but the pestering gets me thinking bad thoughts and I don't need that either, it's not like I avoid going anywhere, it's just that I don't wanna be in that situation and a quick "hi,bye, lovely house" is worse than not going at all, think I'm gaining weight again I feel poofy problem with it is that when I drank I never enjoyed food, barely ate, never ate sweets and now it's like I can enjoy so many tastes that it's hard to keep a lid on it! If I went to a party in those days and there was cake,I'd never give it a second glance, only where the alcohol was,now I beeline to the cake,Ahh! Watched Trumps speech last night just to see what he said, gotta admit he did make some points I've been concerned aboutfor years,oh yeah I said I'd never talk polotics again haha, they all say the right things in those speeches anyways, I'll probably watch Hillary too next week just out of curiosity, anyhoo, hope we all have a great Friday

                                Hot, yuck
I am actually tired of summer, this weather makex me feel rotten, ha ha!
I am awaiting a visit from the vet tech, she should be here soon to draw blood on Maxie.

I keep running ice water & frozen treats out for my birds - they look miserable in this weather. We have 4 fans running inside the chicken house, blowing the hot air out & trying to pull in the 'cooler' air from the shady side.

Seeing Trump grope his daughter on national TV was enough to make me sick. WTF is wrong with him?? God help us all.
