    Good Tuesday morning friends!

We had a HUGE thunderstorm here last evening but apparently it didn't do a thing to improve conditions. It's still hot & humid & basically disgusting, oh well.
I have a large hungry dog staring at me so I'd better go make her breakfast but I wanted to share a great quote I just saw -

    What lies behind us and
    what lies before us are
    tiny matters compared to
    what lies within us.
    - Oliver Wendell Holmes

Have a great AF day everyone!

        Hello All,

Pauly, so sorry you are having breathing problems. The fires in CA are epic! I can't imagine what it would be like to be there.

Lav, loved that quote! So true.

Star, I am sure you must be frustrated by the slow pace of your yard project. Ugh!

        Hello Cyn!

Can you believe we are coming up on August? Time to start thinking of names.

I made a huge pot of black bean curry yesterday. It should have been delicious, but it was SO SALTY I had to pitch it! We ate some, mixed with a lot of white rice, but there was no way I was going to eat it again. I hated to waste it. I did follow the recipe directions, so I must make a note to add 1/3 of the amount of salt next time. All the other ingredients were perfect. Oh well, live and learn! Not much else happening here at the moment. Have a great AF Tuesday everyone.
        Dill

Dont forget, you can: start late, start over, be unsure, try and fail AND STILL SUCCEED!

I hate when that happens with recipes Dill.
I automatically cut the salt amount in half (or even less) & tell people to add salt if they desire. Bad for my B/P, ugh.

Pauly, back in the spring of 1987 I remember standing in my brother's front yard in southern Idaho smelling smoke from a huge fire somewhere, yuck. I hope the air clears up quickly for you & everyone!

Still hot & yucky here. Dreaming of Fall!

            Good morning...

Lav, it is a little cooler here, highs in the 80s, so heat index is in the 90s not 100s or higher. Big difference for me. It has to be coming your way in the next few days! Watched the DNC, it was amazing, they have had such good speakers, I am enjoying this convention much more.

Pauly, wow, breathing in wild fires, you can't get away from that! Anything interesting going on at your house. We are just watching our backyard transform slowly but surely. School starts for the kids this week and next. They have a different schedule than my kids did, with only some weeks in the summer off.

Dill, I cannot have salty food either, I swell up and don't care for the way it tastes. Sorry it did not come out well, otherwise sounds really healthy. This week is going pretty fast, Wednesday already!

Hi Cyn, hope you are doing well.

Sending everyone peace and light, have a good one.

              Morning all!
Sorry to be AWOL, but travel on Monday was long, and yesterday was flat-out. I'm hoping to get more control of my schedule today...we'll see!

Pauly - I never looked closely at my itinerary before I left. Then when I got off the plane in Vegas to catch the last leg of my journey on Monday, I thought 'wait! Pauly lives here!' I sent you thought-waves, hope you caught them. I am now a ways away from you in Vegas, but the smoke of the fires is getting here too. Very hazy everywhere. It seems a little clearer today - I hope it is in Vegas as well...

Star - good luck with the yard project - at some point it will be done, and I guess you just have to enjoy the hot tub until it's all finished! I hope it happens soon!

Lav - good luck with keeping those chickens cooled off. And congrats on accomplishing all the estate stuff. It's a great thing to have done.

Dill - glad that your estate stuff is done, too! Good thing that you will share where the secrets are hidden! Glad that you had some pool time with gdaughter.

Things are hopping here, as I knew they would be. My body is still on EST, so I got up early today to get some of my own things accomplished. I hope that I will be able to keep up with posting - it's great to read all the things that are going on in everyone's lives. AF!

Wishing all a great Hump Day - recognizing all the riches that lie inside us (Thanks Lav for that fabulous quote!!)

Morning friends, Cyn,it's way clearer now,Sunday and Monday were the worst, my doctor gave me a script for lexapro and I'm considering taking it,even though I don't want to, I'm tired of not knowing what kind of day I'm gonna have from one day to the next, how can I feel good constistently if I always have something going on, either a headache, allergies, neck pain, fatigue, anxiety ugh it all gets frustrating but I'm scared of those meds at the same time, why do I hafta be a weirdo? Hello Dill,Lav and Star hope today is a great day for us all

Hello all, another extreme heat day. Ugh.

Cyn, I used your 'set a time' trick. I told myself I would do 15 minutes, no more than 30, pulling weeds. I stuck to it. I got a lot done in a short time because I knew my time was finite. I got half way thru the project and feel pretty good about it! It was way too hot to go any longer than 30 minutes. I'll try to finish the bed tomorrow. I'm glad you arrived safely at your destination. I hope the time you spend there is pleasant by passes quickly for you. I know you love to be home and in your routine!

Pauly, I don't know what you should do re: Lexapro. I know I didn't like it when I was on it years ago, but everyone reacts differently to different medications. The thing I will definitely caution you about tho is that once you go on it, it builds up in your system. You cannot go off it suddenly, but must taper off gradually. I am currently taking gabapentin which is similar in that you have to taper off if you are taking a significant dose. When my doc suggested it I told her I didn't want to go on a medication that I couldn't stop taking without tapering. She kept my dosage at a low level so that I wouldn't have to taper.

Star, I have actually started listening to The Source again! It is silly I suppose but I am using it at night to help get to sleep. The thing is, I feel like I'm getting a better understanding of it with this second reading. I don't know that I'll continue for the whole novel. Probably just until I get my audio version of Hawaii.

Lav, Good idea to cut salt in recipes by half. It is easy enough to add in at the end or on the plate. I generally like salt, especially salty snacks. I am sure I take in too much.

                  Happy AF Hump Day everyone!

Yeah Dill,I'm very leary of it just because I'm so sensitive to meds, heck I can't even take allergy meds without a side effect and those are pretty benign, ho hum, just wait and see I guess

Where did the day go? GOODNESS!!!

Still hot but a hair less humid so they say - feels crappy to me!
All of the birds are OK so far, my older dog is doing better so I am happy.
I will be watching my younger grandson tomorrow & Friday all day. EB will be on his very first camping trip with his cub scout troop. His dad is going along too, ha ha! I think they are going to get rained on tomorrow though, oh well.

Star, I think the cooler weather is supposed to get here after tomorrow - yay, thanks!

Cyn, nice to see you & glad things are going well. I hope you can get your body on mountain time soon.

Dill, have you ever used any of the Mrs. Dash seasonings? They jazz up a dish without adding salt
Healthier for us in the long run.

Pauly, Lexapro definitely did address my anxiety years ago but it also left me feeling rather numb & gave me freaky nightmares ~ didn't like that at all. It also did not address the issues that plunged me into chronic depression aka YB. After two years on it I weaned off then went on Amoryn. A few months later I found this site & decided to stop drinking. That was how I found my way, you will find yours too. You have to be proactive & try new things before rejecting them. You never know what's going to work until you give it a try.

I'm ready to watch tonight's episode of the DNC - very interesting so far!!!
                      Peace to everyone!

                        Good morning...

Cyn, so good to hear from you, that three hour time difference takes time to adjust to, enjoy your trip and take care of yourself. Do your best to post while you are away, I try to check in or at least read some posts daily to keep me on track. MWO is a habit for me! Our backyard project is so beautiful, it is worth all the stress, and almost completed. We are so excited to get it done so we can set up our outdoor furniture and hang out. We have spent time in the hot tub every night, and it is so relaxing and easy. I am so lucky to be able to have this luxury. Very grateful.

Dill, so glad you are enjoying the Source, you will love Hawaii, and I was just thinking of Chesapeake, another really great Michener novel. I love the ones about the US, although I enjoyed Poland, too. He was just such a great writer and you learn so much. I liked your experience of setting your mind to doing a disliked chore for only 15-30 minutes. I will have to do that with some clean up chores I have. Pretty soon I will have yard work again when my yard is completed. Lots of watering to do but I guess it is supposed to rain in the next few days so that may take care of it for me.

Pauly, I have known some people who have really been helped by Lexapro, just had to get the right dosage, so don't hesitate to work with your doctor to do that. I really admire you for your persistence in remaining AF even though you don't feel well alot of days. Your willingness to share your experience has done lot to keep this thread and this site going. Thanks.

Lav, thanks for reminding me of the Mrs. Dash seasonings, I used to use them alot when my kids were growing up and I prepared nightly meals in quantity. Haha. Now it is so different; last night BLT's with corn on the cob, which by the way is mouthwatering at this time of year. My goodness, I love it. Also, the tomatoes are unbelievably good too. What a great time of year for veggies.

Enjoying a coffee right now, trying to wake up. Work has been good, looking forward to the end of the week. Friday is always good.

                          Good morning friends, happy Thursday!

My grandson arrived at 8:30 & is currently occupying himself with PBS. Too hot outside already to do much. I am going to scoot out to Curves & let this guy hang out with YB for a while. They share the same name & personality, ha ha!

Star, your yard project sounds wonderful. I hope it gives you many years of enjoyment.
I am so incredibly salt sensitive it's not even funny. Actually, I've been like that all my life. One salty meal will blow me up like a tick then it takes days to get rid of it, yuck.

Hello to Dill, Cyn & Pauly!
Have a great AF day everyone!

                              Morning all -
So good to read where everyone is in their world!

Lav - good luck with your gson and keeping him occupied in the heat -sure hope you get a break soon. I see the CT will be getting cooler tomorrow - I hope it's true for you. How nice that your son is going on the camping trip with the little guys.

Pauly - you're not a weirdo, you're SPECIAL! Keep on with your searching and doing -you will figure it out. And I second Star's congrats at staying AF through all of this - hurrah!

Dill - so glad that the 'timer' technique worked for you! 30 minutes would definitely be the max in this heat -- stay cool!

Star - you sound like the backyard project is looking good and getting to a final - that's so exciting. It's wonderful to hear you talk about the summer flavors of food and be so appreciative of them - it helps us all appreciate things more!

Wishing all a great AF Thursday --

                                Good morning...

Watched the DNC last night and it was inspiring, such a contrast! We stayed up late the speakers were so good. Slept well and so glad it is Friday. I have to go to the doctor today, some type of female issue, hope it goes well, it is at least close to my house, I checked it out last night after work.

Lav, how nice that your grandson is starting the camp outs, boy scouts have such a great time and learn so many useful skills. It rained here last night and I was tired, so just chilled all night after work.

Cyn, hope your trip is going well, yes I am very grateful for the yard project, hope they finish today, they are so close if they would just work an entire day and not a few hours. Grrrrr! Now starts the watering, with all the new plants, I am buying a new hose after work, making sure I have sprinklers, and will water for the next two weeks to give all the new plants a good start. It will be a pleasure to be outside before and after work!

Pauly, can you visit your family by yourself? I am going to visit one of my brothers, about 4-5 hours drive away in a few weekends, as my husband does not have time off either. His job has always had long hours, Saturdays and a few evenings and I have to do things on my own or be by myself, but every situation is different so maybe that would not work for you.

Friday, so enjoy, AF, knowing that you will remember everything that happens!
