      Good evening friends!

Busy day but not bad. It is borderline uncomfortable here in these parts. Heat & humidity in the second half of October is just weird.

Star, sorry you got caught up in the workplace drama. Sucks, I know & I don't miss that stuff one bit. Save yourself, no matter what

Cyn, I know that too much family time can be harsh. Too much, too little, why can't it always be just right? Got you little bit of Me time

Pauly, I will get the B/P stuff sorted out tomorrow morning. I know stress makes it worse but there's family history & hardening of the arteries involved too, ha ha! I continue to eat well, exercise, no smoking or drinking....not much more I can do but medicate I suppose.
      Hope you are doing OK!

      Dill, still on the road?

      Peace to everyone tonight!
      Lav

        Good morning...

Lav, hope you are feeling a little better today and the medical appointment is soon. Family fights are awful, they take on a life of their own if they go on for a time. Yuck. Another debate tonight, I really don't want to watch it, but I think my husband does. I may run an errand or something.

Cyn, I get it, travel and visiting are fun, but just for a time. Safe trip home, enjoy this weather.

Pauly, good to see you back.

Dill, hope your trip is going well.

Have a great AF hump day.

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home!

Hello friends, I had a fab trip. I'm sorry I didn't post while away but being in the scamp with Mr. D right at hand kind of put a damper on it for me. That, plus many times we were not near wifi out there in the boonies. But being away really was good for my soul! We saw 3 of the 5 great lakes on our trip: Superior, Michigan and Huron. We stayed at Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park in northern Michigan and The Straits State Park in Michigan. Both were on the Upper Peninsula. We took a ferry over to Mackinac Island and had a tour in a horse drawn carriage. Mackinac Island is known for not having cars. Everyone uses bicycles, horses or horse drawn carts/carriages. The trash is picked up in horsed drawn carts and people and luggage are both moved in horse drawn carts. Taxis are horse drawn too. It was great fun! We happened to be on Mackinac on Sunday and I was able to attend Mass at St. Anne Catholic Church. It was beautiful and very welcoming.

Cyn, I actually did see that moon you mentioned. We saw it early in the morning as were were leaving Porcupine Mountain. Gorgeous.

Lav, I am sorry to hear about your daughter's tribulations, but very happy she passed her exam!! Hope you get your BP issues solved.

Star, UGH to work drama! I remember studiously avoiding that sort of thing when I was working. I was in a profession populated mainly by women and it could get pretty ugly! LOL!

Pauly, LOL! Yes, it would be good if I would follow the advice I dole out to my children too! We all are guilty of that I bet; giving advice that we don't necessarily follow for ourselves all the time. But, to err is human.

Have a peaceful Hump Day evening everyone!

              Evening all -

So good to see you, Dill! I remember being on the Upper Peninsula during the autumn one year - it was glorious. I'm so glad that you went there! I also noticed big bodies of water yesterday as I flew to NYC. I first left the Missouri river, then leaving Chicago we flew directly over the downtown area, and I could see Lake Michigan in the evening light for quite a while, then by 8 pm EST, I could tell in the dark that I was looking at the Atlantic Ocean. Wild! And I saw the moon again - this time golden but quite diminished - crossing a bridge going back into Manhattan. It is such a gift to see places away from where we spend every day, isn't it? Glad you are home safe and sound.

Star - I'm with you - I hope that you go for that errand tonight! Things are beautiful here, and the sweet dog sitter even watered my transplants - a good thing since it was nearly 80 here yesterday. I am home and happy to be here, but it was an important trip and I'm glad that I went.

Lav - I hope you had some success with your BP med adjustment. We need to keep you super-healthy! Of course, you are a model for what a person can do to help their health - that was quite a list of changes that you have made.

Pauly - I thought of you when I heard the debate was in Vegas. I hope it doesn't disrupt your business too much. It is so good to see you posting again.

Well, off to walk the pups. They did pretty well with this newer dog sitter, so that's good - one more for the Village it takes to get everything done with these wonderful beasts.

Wishing all a great AF evening...

                Good evening friends!

Well, my B/P was perfectly normal this morning - go figure, haha!
Guess I cured myself & didn't need anything changed after all. Funny how stuff like that happens & it was nice not having that nagging headache this afternoon
I have to get some blood work scheduled soon, keeping an eye on my cholesterol level.

Welcome back Dill! So glad you enjoyed your road trip, sounds very nice!
I've never been to Mackinac Island but it sounds exactly like the Aran island we went to called Inishmore. Ferry ride, no cars, etc.
I hope you get a lot of mileage out of your camper.

Cyn, glad you are back on home turf too!
I sure could use a dog & chicken sitter - I would love to get out of here for a few days. Someday I hope anyway, ha ha!

Star, I am going to watch the debate as long as it doesn't make me feel ill!!!
There is just so much at stake with this election.

Pauly, I was wondering if you were going to be close enough to be affected by all the hullabaloo with the debate.
When we lived near Philly I used to be amazed at the way the Secret Service would swoosh in & clear out all the 'deplorables' before someone important showed up to give a speech, haha! They used to put them on a plane in Philly & fly them out west, LOL

My daughter is texting me about her foot hurting - wish I could do something to help her
                Have a peaceful night everyone.

                  Good morning...

Slept poorly last night, the debate upset me and I couldn't settle down. I just can't believe that such a bad person is running for president and is so rude, lies, attacks, and has no knowledge about any of the issues. Unbelievable. He lost of course, but still, I felt upset and unsettled. I wish I could stay home today, really tired. Oh well, it is Thursday at least.

Cyn, lovely post, so nice to be home.

Dill, glad to have you back, that trip sounds like just what you needed, good!!

Pauly, glad to have you back.

Lav, your efforts are paying off, getting though emotional time well, even though it doesn't feel so great.

Have the best AF Thursday today!

Good morning All, I do wish politics would not enter in here but since it has,

Star, "the debate upset me and I couldn't settle down. I just can't believe that such a bad person is running for president and is so rude, lies, attacks," I agree with this statement but only as it applies to Hillary. I disagree that Trump has "no knowledge about any of the issues.". We must agree to disagree. I hope we can.

Lav, You have been so helpful to your daughter thru out this rough period. Her foot will heal with time. I know how you feel as a mother, we want our children not to have to suffer pain. But it is a part of life, as you well know! And whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger.

Cyn, the sights you saw on your travels sound wonderful. You are a true appreciator of Nature. Aren't you glad you take the time to notice? I'm happy your dog sitter worked out. It is good to have options or it would be impossible to travel. With the camper we actually could take Tessa with us but I don't ever really plan to do that. She is a very large dog and I don't think she would travel well. Besides, what would she do all day at the camper while Mr. D and I get out to sightsee? No, it really wouldn't be fair to her. She is much more happy remaining in her territory. At the campgrounds I saw many people with dogs. One camper had a beautiful Harlequin Great Dane! Talk about big! LOL!

Pauly, do customers talk politics in your shop? I think if I were sitting in the chair getting a hair cut, I'd think twice before bringing up the subject in today's environment!!! LOL

I hope the rain stops or it is going to be a long, indoor day! Oh well, let's make it AF!

Morning friends, NO POLITICAL TALK!! I don't want anybody getting offended or pissed off and I don't want to end up hating anyone here haha,Dill, yes they do and I have to tell them exactly what I just posted, there's too much of a divide in this election and I am staying out of it,I don't want to know what color your underwear are and I don't want to know who you're voting for they're both personal information... not towards you Dill, that's just a joke I make at work I really need to get out in my"garden" and turn the soil and plant but I just haven't had any energy this first week off the grog, see that's another thing that alcohol steals from us,the drinking days take our time but the recovery takes more time,so over it! I had a dream of a shiny crystal in my brain last night, it was blue and glittering it said(this is gonna sound dumb) it said "I'm your sober stone, you can do this) how weird is that?!?! Maybe I'm finally going nuts or have that wet brain thing drinkers get haha,it was just really peaceful to me and a comfort but weird, Lav,sorry about your daughters pain when they hurt,we hurt, today is Michelle's birthday, she wants tacos, pizza, spaghetti and cheesecake, jeez is that all? I told her tacos and pizza, I'm not cooking all of that, anyway must go get ready, hello Cyn and Star, hope everyone has a nice Thursday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

                        Good evening friends,

I have to admit that I sat & watched the entire debate by myself last night & ended up yelling at the TV a few times, ha ha! I also found myself applauding a few times too
It didn't keep me awake or cause bad dreams or anything as screwy as it was.

I hope you sleep soundly tonight Star.
As we can do about this political disaster is be sure to go out & vote. Make sure everyone you know votes too!

Dill, my daughter is fairly creative so she is finding ways to do some things despite being immobile. Her knee scooter is helping her get around the house, ha ha!
Your mention of the great dane brought back memories of an old neighbor who had several. They were enormous, loud & smelly but kept her company I guess.

Pauly, weird dreams like that aren't all that unusual. I like to think of them as little gifts/messages from the universe
I hope uour daughter has a wonderful birthday!

Well, tomorrow is grandparent's day at my granddaughter's elementary school. We will have to leave here around 8 am so we don't miss anything. After that is over we are going to put the wounded daughter in our car & take her somewhere for lunch. Should be an interesting day!

Hello to Cyn who is probably very busy!

                        Peace to everyone tonight!

Pauly, color wheel pro states this about the color blue: Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven.
Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. It slows human metabolism and produces a calming effect. Blue is strongly associated with tranquility and calmness. In heraldry, blue is used to symbolize piety and sincerity. Many people associate crystals with healing and channeling universal energy. I'd say that your blue crystal dream was a very good one!

Lav, then your great dane story reminded me of one! LOL! Years ago our across the street neighbors had two large great danes. They were contained within their yard by a 4 ft high chain link fence. One day one of them reached over and bit an 8yo sweetheart of a neighbor boy on the top of his head, requiring stitches. Poor boy! They were very good people and felt awful about it. I'm sure they took care of any medical expenses. But I had quite forgotten that story until you mentioned yours!

Star, I do hope you will not hold it against me that I am not a fan of Hillary. I am like millions of others who wish we had two other candidates. This election is fraying nerves and upsetting family and friend relationships like none I have ever seen before. I think we are all scared for our future and the future of this country and the world. I promise that is my last word on the subject!

                          Cyn, hello!

Back to volunteering today. It's been strange getting back into my routine since the trip. Have a good one everyone!

Morning all - the leaves are falling and the view is expanding. The light seems to hold a golden glow, especially in the mornings. Such a beautiful time of year, but also brings a little heartache with it; time is precious and fleeting...

Sorry I missed posting yesterday. I was about to write, and then got the chance to be with my dear neighbor, who i haven't had a good long chat with for, I dunno, months and months. She gifted me a book last spring that I just now started reading: 'Braiding Sweetgrass', by Robin Wall Kimmerer. It has opened up my mind in a wonderful way, but also makes me sad - we have lost so much connection to the earth, especially the tearing up of the Native American traditions (she is from the Potawattamie nation). She is a Phd botanist, so she comes at nature and the earth/people relationship from a unique perspective. I am reading in little bits, and digesting it all. She is a gentle poet, and a great antidote to the current climate of discourse.

Lav - I hope you have safe travels and a great Grandparents day! Sending healing vibes to your daughter. I hear you about dog care - I'm lucky that there are folks here that do that - I hope that you find a helper at some point - it really does make travel possible.

Pauly - that dream is incredible!! I agree with Lav, that was definitely a 'message' dream. You CAN do this! Hold onto that crystal in your heart. Wishing you all the best.

Dill - thanks for posting the info about the color blue -- when I painted my old office room to remake it into my meditation/crafts/dog/office space, I chose blue. We all need Harmony.

Wishing everyone a good AF day. Let's try some lovingkindness directed at ourselves, and then at the rest of the world...

Morning friends, Dill, thanks for sharing that that dream really filled me with peace it was so soothing and out of nowhere, my favorite color is actually pink but il take the blue sober gem I talk to a lot of young voters and they're just as confused as I am,feel like if HCgets elected nothing will change but if DT gets elected everything will get turned upside down I only brought it up cuz I had a lot of students yesterday and I guess they wanted an "older" persons opinion haha,Cyn,yes we have lost touch with the earth, it would be nice to think like my grandma did,the earth was sacred and used for healing, prayer, etc even the dirt,I always thought she was just a crazy old Indian and was embarrassed growing up but now I wish I'd have listened to what she was trying to teach me, bratty kid! Lav,I honestly can't believe that this crap withyour son is still going on, I know it's not my business but it bugs me,especially after all you've done for them this summer, seemed like the boys practically lived at your house and I know you miss them, plus the holidays are coming up Star, did you make it through work ok yesterday? I hate working on lack'o sleep! I stopped by to give Michelle some birthday money yesterday so they could do something, will have some food and a few things for her here tomorrow, why do we hafta love our kids so much, that's a dumb question but I get too wrapped up in where they are, what they' re doing, where they're going, sheesh mind my own business haha, hope we all have a great AF Friday

                                Good evening friends!

Well, grandparents day was a blast, we had a lot of fun
We went out to lunch with our wounded daughter afterwards & glad we did. She really needed some fresh air & a change of scenery, if you know what I mean

Dill, I hope your volunteer day went well. It's good to have a routine.
Your mention of a 4 ft fence made me laugh. Those dogs can walk right over those fences, scary. What a shame about the boy getting hurt. One of my neighbor's danes hopped the fence & came over & beat up my golden retriever one day, ugh!

Cyn, after a full week of 80+ degree weather we are being told to expect to wake up tomorrow to temps in the 40's & wind gusts of 40 mph or more. Crazy? Yes!
Your neighbor sounds like a very interesting person, lucky you
About the pet sitter - I can only wish, ha ha!

Pauly, feels weird when you realize that suddenly you are the 'oldest & most experienced' person in the room, right?
I know the millennials have different concerns & their own agenda. I just wish the candidates would listen to all of us!!
Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since my DIL lost her damn mind. That's a long time to have no contact with half of my family (except for that chance meeting in Walmart). I want this situation to be resolved but I don't see how I can force it at this point. I talked all of this out with my healthcare provider on Wednesday so at least I feel a little less stressed but I am not happy about this.
I hope the birthday celebrations are good this weekend.

                                Star, hope you are OK!

Wishing everyone a peaceful & comfy night!
