    Friday 11/11 armistice day

    good morning all,
firstly thank you all so much for your thoughts, each and every one of you,I didnt really feel too much like posting, and couldnt give it the input I like, plus no one likes to hear me moping n moaning all the time ..not even me!things are a bit tough at the moment,Julies dad,is finding it hard at times to come to terms with it,55 years married next week is a long time, and with dementia in there too,its a bit of a mixed pot.we will get there,in the end,
all I will say is ,I am so glad I dont drink...both on a practical and personal level..the number of times I have had to just jump in the car and do something,to hug and hold my wife and daughter..thats 2 separate people without stinking of booze or talking absolute shite,to remain level headed etc..I could not have done this without having quit
Iwas reading the oney story about the quit and how it wasnt all love and roses,...the one that Mario put up..and yes I dont know if we think by quitting it will be the same as "mums magic kiss"remember them as a kid when you hurt yourself?but what quitting does do is gives you the quality of dealing with the issues clearly, sometimes logically ,sometimes not,but at least you know what its about....for anyone trying to quit and finding it tuff...it is worth it I know at this very moment.
    thats enuff of me yapping,

    brew time....

morning tt...sorry to hear that it sounds like you have had not so good news..you know where I am ...I know its hard but keep positive..sometimes there are issues that arent within our gift to fix,but maybe trying to mend or look at alternative peripheral issues will help...does that make sense?

Mario my friend how goes it in portugalia? all good ..thanks for your thoughts mate..

Starty ,the same goes ..thank you..hows you today?you been out with the dogs running recently?weather has been pretty bad,so guess maybe not.

Ppqp..and a good morning to you..thank you for your kind words ...reading your post ..wow how things have changed...I remember when you were tommy ten hatz, you hated your job ,was going to throw in the towel, couldnt stand certain people there etc..and now...well just read what you wrote!good for you..

hiya Lav,firstly a super big thank you to you for your help, and secondly heres a big brew for the last 4 days..!as you say it is difficult ,and yep its no different for us than what other families goes thru on a daily basis..but when its got your personalised plates on it,then it becomes different...hows the business doing?you getting your xmas orders in?hows the greenhouse doing?we have got what they call a Siberian winter..so might just go there see what theyve got instead...

hiya Nora ,and thank you too...as for mailbox and facebook..crack on,Ive got no issues with that at all..how are you?as for kindle...Ive been downloading loadsa books to mine from various places..Julie likes agatha christie books ...so I downloaded the whole set for her gratis..had to convert them into mobi format which is what kindle reads in..but Ive managed to get into all that sort of thing.

morning det, well done on the dosh rise...wonder how much $ will be worth in the bank of trumpton soon?so a good quote the other day..."Ive never trusted a clinton since they charged me £7.50 for a birthday card, and never trusted a trump since last Saturdays curry!

hiya pauly ,pie, sam and everyone else...hope you are good and thanks

Icant honestly say Ill be jumping in like this daily yet, there are still a lot of both practical and emotional issues going on

also like to thank Byrdie for her support thru all this,as well as both Flossie and Jacs...in fact yizall xxx thank you from us..Iwas going to cut some skirting boards this morning, but it may not be the smartest idea I have ever had......

    not political...just found it amusing.....

My local pub is pretty rough.
I went to the quiz the other night and the first question asked was, "What the fck are you looking at?"

I was driving when I saw the flash of a traffic camera. I figured that my picture had been taken for exceeding the limit even though I knew that I was not speeding. Just to be sure, I went around the block and passed the same spot, driving even more slowly, but again the camera flashed.
Now I began to think that this was quite funny, so I drove even slower as I passed the area once more, but the traffic camera again flashed. I tried a fourth and fifth time with the same results and was now laughing as the camera flashed while I rolled past at a snail's pace. Two weeks later, I got five tickets in the mail for driving without a seat belt.

At the barbers yesterday, I asked to have my hair cut like Tom Cruise, so he gave me a cushion to sit on.

Good to see you Mick and I know there must be so much going on with you at the moment. Yes it is great to not have booze adding to the mix when dealing with sudden or prolonged changes and also to be there to support others.
People seem busy at the moment.
Hope you are OK Sam. Many people are very sad also about Leonard Cohen's death. I am not a huge fan but I know he had a huge influence and following.

Great to see you back Mick, It's a sad time for you and your family, but life goes on & on with its ups & downs ,And it's times when we're most down that we need our most strength to bring us back up to move along.

        MAE ALL...

Mick...it was a treat to see you started the thread this morning, thank you for that. Sounds like you are coping through this difficult time with all the support you need to be giving. You take care of yourself and take it one day at a time.

TT...like you I wasn't a fan of Cohen's but he had a huge following. Hope you're surviving the turmoil at work and you too remember one day at a time.

Mario...so true about needing sober strength to get through our struggles. Meant to tell you I went back and read your story a little while ago. You give great advice.

Shout out to all to come.....holiday for me today with plans of a bridge game this afternoon.
        Have a Fantastic Friday all.....:smile:PPQP

          Good evening Abbers,

Glad it's Friday, not doing any work this weekend - I love making executive decisions

Mick, happy to see you here today.
We all know how rough this week has been for you, glad you are coping well.
The family dynamic always changes when someone leaves us & it takes a while to adjust. YB & I have both lost all of our elders now & it just seems weird but you get by.
Happy Armistice day & Veterans day here!

TT, I never knew Leonard Cohen was Canadian. Funny the stuff you learn after someone passes. He certainly did make some interesting music.

Hi Mario, good to see you.

PQ, how did the bridge game go? I have never played bridge, should I learn? Convince me, ha ha!

I also have 'spoken' to Sam on FB this week. He's about as disgusted with the election results as I am I think.
We have been discussing lots of political stuff & the future of our nation.

Hello to Det, congrats on the raise dude - great

          Peace to everyone tonight!

Lav...:shakingno: You have to be weaned into bridge at birth. LOL

Got the call from the President of the Board, I did not get the GM job. My first thought was relief! As it became more real I did a lot of thinking about the added responsibly of having the lives of 40 employees relying on me. He went on to say that he reviewed the salaries of senior staff and that he'd be speaking to the new GM about mine. So a raise is forthcoming. Also got an email from my boss saying we have a lot to talk about on Monday. The new GM is a director on the board and we have a great relationship. I think they made the right call. I'm better at middle management, making sure the day to day operations go smooth for everyone.

Det...congrats on your raise, my turn next. LOL

                  Aloooha Friday ABerooos!

Mick, great to have you back in the captains chair and seeing us into action at warp 3. Hoping you get in some relaxation time this weekend.

I've been a Cohen fan ever since his voice deepened and matured in his later years. Good to see he had a productive lifetime of doing what he loves and touching people with his art. That's about as good as it gets.

Oddly not a darn thing on my plate for tomorrow so it will be putzing around, organizing, ebaying and making tasty things I'm sure.

PPQ, you can tell your boss I approved your raise

                  Pauly? calling Pauly....

Mario, I didn't realize that you are in Portugal, how neat. Someday I MUST get to Europe.

well, off to learn something weird on youtube

                  be well loves
