Good evening friends!

Busy today readying for tomorrow night's snowstorm. The bums are now talking 12-18" - GEEZ!!! What did we do to deserve that?

Star looks like she's enjoying San Fran. She has nice pics posted on FB.

Cyn, the chicks are safe in my laundry room, ha ha! They have nearly doubled in size since I got them last weekend. I hope it warms up soon, they will be outgrowing their nursery soon & I will have to move them into something bigger in the garage.
I hope your meeting went well & also your trip to NY.

I'm afraid this upcoming storm is going to be the real thing & not a tease like the last one.
As far as other people's opinions on what we post....... that's their business & they can think what they want. And we can post what we want, right? The last damn thing I need in my life right now is someone thinking they can dictate what I think & can say - uh NO! I don't want or need anyone to tell me what to think!

Evening all! I guess I'm the first one in today, that's unusual.

Lav, I got home this afternoon, checked the weather report (1 -2 feet, possibly more!) and went into action: food, cash, gas in the car, everything charged up. Later I'll fill the tub and a 5 gallon bucket for cooking.. although we're not supposed to get high winds like NYC., so maybe we'll keep our power on. I told HB in NYC to at least get extra bottles of water, in case, What else can we do? I'll be out there shoveling every 30 minutes tomorrow morning.. it's going to be wet and heavy! So no use letting it build up. Hey Ho March!!!

Star, I haven't had a moment to check for your pics... will try tonight. Sounds like you are having fun!

Pauly, I think it's great for kids to be bi-lingual, and youth is the time to learn. I'm sorry that some folks are upset by the political talk - but honestly I feel that it is more Survival talk than political talk. I was never ever involved directly with politics before now; but strange times call for strong action. It's part of my AF life, and that's what I'm here to share. Vent away!

I had a very unsettling thing happen at the dog park. I arrived, and saw only one car there - an attractive woman was exercising a Doberman in the little dog area, closest to the car park. When I arrived, she immediately put the dog in the back of the van, using the side door and getting in with the dog there, I didn't really see much, as I was trying to keep my highly reactive dog from going balistic. When I looked back, they were done and I expected her to drive away. I got my pups out. As I walked into the park with my dogs, I could see that there was a guy in the driver's seat, and I could hear a heated discussion going on in the front seats, but couldn't make it out. I didn't stare or get involved - they guy sounded a little nuts, and this is the highest per capital gun region of the state. But I hid behind a screen and tried to understand what was going on - it seemed like he was pushing her into the back, and finally I heard him yell at her to get in the back -- then he drove off , slammed on the brakes, I heard things smacking the inside of the car doors, then he drove on. I tried to memorize the license plate - I didn't have my phone, so I collected the dogs and got home as fast as I could no called the Troopers to report what I'd seen. I felt sick in the way home - what if she was trying to get in the front seat to signal me? Why didn't I watch more carefully when she crawled in the back of the van with the dog, that was pretty strange... There were no windows in th back of the van - it was like a painter's van - with a ladder rack on top, what if th banging I heard was her trying get out? I called the trooper in case something else happens so they could use my description - such a pretty young woman, with long beautiful red hair. Uuugh, I hope she's OK. It just makes me feel how fragile life is, how we hang by a thread and count on the people around us to be sober and gentle and human. I'll be sending protective vibes to her all night, just in case.

Afternoon/evening friends,Cyn,how terrible! I hope everything is OK with the woman,I just didn't have it in me this morning to post,even though I'm a morning person, it felt like we lost 2 hours instead of one,that also had to be the brightest moon EVER! Fell asleep with the window open and curtain back and our room was lit up like a Christmas tree haha,Lav,thanks for the bread link,today was almost 100% gf but I did have a tiny bit of pasta for dinner, wishes for a nice AF night and some sleep for us all

9:13 pm & not a single snowflake has fallen yet!
Our phones have been blowing up with blizzard warnings all day, geez!
We are as ready as you can be for the storm, whenever it arrives.

Cyn, that was a traumatic thing to witness. I think it would cause me nightmares.
I make it a point to never step out of the house without my phone in my pocket. Most of the time I feel like I'm on a deserted island around here. If something happened no one would hear me yell for help
I sure hope the troopers can track that van & see what's going on.
Be careful moving that heavy wet snow around tomorrow, OK?

Pauly, I hope you get a chance to make that bread. It's easy, more like mixing up & baking cake batter than regular bread dough. It's nice now that you can buy GF flour for baking. When I first started it for my daughter 6 years ago I had to buy all sorts of different flours & starches & mix them myself.

Wishing everyone a decent night's sleep sans the moonlight.
I am seriously hoping the power stays on to make this weather event more bearable.

I'm so glad you memorized the license plate,I'm terrible with numbers so I'd have been no help,Lav,I gotta be careful cuz I forget that gluten free does NOT mean calorie free! My thinking has been wonky when it comes to that,allergies were awful last night grrr,don't want to deal with this again, sooo many customers are sufferers too,tbh I forgot what it felt like cuz I was fine all winter,I was so desperate last night I hardened some coconut oil in the freezer and shoved it up my nostrils haha,watched a CNN special on Putin,jeez,no wonder DT loves him dudes rich! It bored hubs to death but I found it interesting, hope we all have a great AF Tuesday,,you snow people stay safe!

Pauly so sorry about the allergies! Good job sticking w/ the GF diet - it may help your allergies, once the inflammation starts to get turned down. I wanted to watch that special last night, but forgot - also HBO had a documentary about the Syrian conflict - the human cost- which was supposed to be really eye opening. I forgot about that too, but after the dog park incident, I probably shouldn't have watched it anyway. No, no description of the guy, the windows were super- tinted, strange for a eastern car - not like all the cars are in the desert. But I could hear him, and it didn't sound good... uuugh. I thought of her first thing this morning.

Lav , you are so right, I should always have my phone with me. It had run out of power, so I was charging it at home... but I could have charged it in the car. I think of how many times I am alone with the dogs at that dog park; it gives me chills. Don't worry, I'm never leaving it at home again! I did about 7 rounds of shoveling, so far I am OK, but my wrists are a little tender from the twisting. By the time I make a path out front for the dogs, then paths on the back deck in case doggy door needs to be used, and 3 sets of stairs so I have exits in case the 2 legged and the 4 leggeds have to get out in a hurry, I'm done! I'm not usually so careful about exits, but right now there is no way the dogs can get anywhere without a path - girl dog is up to her shoulders in the snow! Probably lose to 20 inches, not sure... I hope you got less, and didn't have too much to do outside. Take care of those feathered girls!

Too tired to think anymore... I did get quite a bit of work done in between shoveling, so that was good. Wishing all a safe night ( with power!) and a great AF Wednesday.

Don't overdue on the shoveling Cyn. Yo got a lot more snow than we did but we got a nice layer of ice on top of ours, yuck.

Morning all - poor Lav, losing a post on top of all the ice and wind damage you had - eeek! How on earth did you save the chickens- the hen house looked decimated! And tree damage too - dear me. I would rather have tons of snow than any ice! Good luck dealing with all of that!

Pauly, how are things with you? I had to remind myself of where you live when you posted yesterday that you were sleeping with the window open -- took me a minute, ha! Only an inch or so of snow here last night, so hopefully no more shoveling for me today - I could use the break.

Star your pics are great - so glad you are having a beautiful time. Deserved!

I'll check back later to see how you"re doing, Pauly. I made apples in the slow- cooker last night - just apples and spices, no sugar. yum!

Morning friends, Cyn,you've got perfect weather for crock pot apples,I'm with you on not adding sugar to it,apples have plenty of sugar as it is,I'm funding I don't care for over the top sugar anymore or surprising to me hot stuff! I used to love super hot stuff now it just burns my tongue,any news on the incident in the park?Lav,what a mess that storm left! Star,pics look nice hubs is taking the day off to go to DMV to license Kells car she bought and take Brady to the eye doc,even though I just took him 2 years ago and they said he does not need glasses Brady swears he does,we shall see,wishes for a wonderful AF Wednesday

Good evening friends!

Darn cold & windy today, had a few snow showers but no more accumulation, thank goodness.
YB saw me struggling to carry the 35 lb water can out for the chickens. So he started to cross the driveway to help & landed with a thud on his right side. He was motionless for a few seconds & all I could think was 'I can't pick you up', ha ha. He was fine but a little shocked. I can't fill those water cans outside in this weather so I fill them in the laundry room & have a heck of a time carrying them over to the chicken house, geez! The chickens will be cooped up until most of this ice & snow melts. The majority of the repair work on their fence will have to wait until these freezing cold winds go somewhere else

Cyn, I'm glad you didn't get the ice portion of this storm, it's nasty.
I had to get a package to the PO today for a customer so I had YB drive me in his new pickup with 4 wheel drive - nice
Even though the roads have all been plowed the snow is still blowing across the empty corn fields & messing up the driving. I love cooking apples in the crockpot with apple pie spice then hitting it with the stick blender - yum!

Pauly, Having an eye exam every two years is reasonable. Things can change fast, that's for sure. I swear I would go yearly if I could get my insurance company to pay, ha ha!
Louie looks like he loves his angel fish! I had a tank of angel fish in my kitchen 20 years ago, they were mean & ate all their babies. Gross!

Morning all -
Long productive day of work yesterday, and I hope to get another one in today. I had promised the dogs that we could go downstairs and cuddle on the (only) couch last night, but i worked into the evening so that didn't happen... I hope I can do it tonight! I'm still on episode 3 of The Crown, pathetic!

Lav, how to you manage to carry that heavy water so far - especially with your feet issues? At least YB wanted to help you! Thank goodness he didn't hurt himself - that would have been all you needed; cooped up chickens and a hurt YB! Maybe you'll get 2 smaller containers? So sorry you have to wait on the repairs. Meanwhile, the chicks are taking over your house, right?

Pauly the video of the fish was too cute! How are all your food plans going? my no-grain experiment is starting to pay off, I think... I have felt much less pain - even with hours of shoveling, and I don't get the terrible 'sleepies' in the mid afternoon. I would be sad to let go of grains, but it if I feel this much better on a regular basis....hmmm, we'll see. Good luck to you today with the food stuff!

I read a front-page article last Monday about the opioid situation in farmland communities across the country, what an incredible heartbreak. One OH farmer had already lost two adult children to overdose, and the last son is hanging by a thread - and care is so spotty and so far away, It's hard to get a program going. His son can't drive because he's lost his license, so the two of them spend hours every other day just traveling for his care. The father will have to be in the fields 16 hours a day soon, and is worried about how it will all work with his son then. It was just heartbreaking, wrenching, to read about what this family has been through. Dill, if you stop by, please know that I am always sending you light, and hoping for the best for your family. Stay strong!

Morning friends,Can,that's terrible to read about the opioid epidemic! I notice that they're finally starting to take notice but these docs that have prescribed them for long term pain are ripping the prescription right out of people's hands,get them dependent on them then take it back,that's not a good way to deal with it,I have sooo many customers who are on these but have a hard time getting the script filled,it really pisses me off when they're used as a first line treatment for pain,now that people are dying its like "oops!" The food thing is going along OK but a little boring this week,hubs keeps trying to push more seafood on me but uh gross! I dislike all fish except shrimp and canned tuna haha,glad you're feeling so great! Lav,sorry about YB but I'm glad it was nothing serious, that would have been bad timing for sure! I still need to watch the brownie video you sent,I was at work and when I got home hubs had a gazillion questions so I didn't get a chance, I really hope today is nice for us all,have a great AF Thursday

Good evening friends,

Well, I had to get out & go to Curves today for the first time this week. In order for me to get my car out of the garage I had to have YB break up the ice in front of my garage door. There was a small mountain of it leftover from when the neighbor plowed the other day. Geez!
Nobody got hurt & I did get to Curves, ha ha!
Cyn, the baby chicks are in a container in my laundry room. One of them actually flew/hopped up on the edge tonight - I think she was looking for me as I had just left the room. They now have a screen covering the top for safety. The grown girls are just hanging out in the chicken house waiting for the snow & ice to melt which is going to be a while I think.
The local police up in town (along with the county detectives) just busted a major drug dealer. The guy is a real shady looking individual & happens to be a Mexican immigrant. I guess he'll be locked up & eventually deported, don't know. I am glad they got him. Heroin is a big problem in this farming community too.
Glad yo are feeling better & getting some serious work done, nice

Pauly, opioids are final for terminal patients. They deserve to die in grace & relative comfort.
When they are ordered postoperatively for pain control, that's fine too but they need to be discontinued after a few days - end of story!!!
My daughter was given Percocet when she had knee surgery at age 14. I had a long talk with her & explained things so after a few days she gave them up. Same thing last fall after her foot surgery. I've taken Percocet myself after surgeries but limited my time on it & never got buzzed - it barely addresses serious pain. I guess the addiction trigger is too much for some people? I don't know.

Morning all - happy Friday. Star, this is one time that maybe you aren't so glad the the week is whizzing by, right? I didn'get to check FB yesterday; I hope you have more pretty pictures today!

Lav, sounds like those chicks are bonding to you! Good thing there's a screen. The phrase 'cooped up' must be from chicken coops, right? I hope there's no warfare going on in the coop! That sounds terrible about the ice... but glad that you got to Curves, that must have felt good. (PS, glad they caught that pusher, that's one deportation I am definitely for. But I have read that most are white guys from the city, making tons of money off of rural people, grrr.)

Pauly, yeah I know, food can be boring and hard! I have a recipe with salmon that even HB likes, and is super-easy: chop up head of broccoli, 2 carrots, throw in some snow peas, quarter a red onion; add a little salt and toss w/ oil. Roast at 425 for 15 minutes. Take out and push veggies to the side, put down 1 piece of salmon with a glaze/mix of chili sauce and Hoisin sauce, roast all for 10 minutes more ( or until the salmon looks done...). Dinner! I make those veggies now all the time - they're so delish, they almost don't taste like veggies - yummy, Carmel-y. Try it, you might like it once a week!

Well yesterday was an adventure. Right after posting, I went down to check some laundry and heard some weird water noises in the wall. Then I saw the toilet rising. I shut of the toilet water and thought that would solve it. 2 ,minutes later, I saw sewage water rising up to the top and over the rim of the toilet! And it kept coming, and coming, Holy you-know-what! I was on the phone w/ HB in NYC, and told him to call our plumber. In between running for towels, I figured out that the water softener was cycling through it's thing - it was pushing tons of water through the system. The septic has a block somewhere. Long story short, septic guys came and (after I shoveled about 20 linear feet of snow so that they could get to the septic lid and push it to the side,) and the part of the tank that needs to be dealt with is under 2 feet of snow and a foot of earth. I have some calls into people to see how to proceed. For now, no water usage in the house - I guess I'll go to the local gym and shower. Laundromat is in the town close by, so that's OK. So far I'm finding restrooms to use, or I can got to my dear neighbors... if this continues, I might have to get a porta-potty! There's always something, right?
