    Re: Motivated in May

    Tuesday evening greetings friends!

Damp again today but no real rain. Not sure if it's going to clear up at all so I guess we will be looking at the ocean thru raindrops tomorrow, oh well.

Star, I hope you are catching up with yourself after all of last week's excitement!
YB had lunch with our son today but hasn't disclosed anything that went down......hmm.

Pauly, I hope you had a good day & you as well Cyn!

Not sure if the hotel wifi will be decent enough to check in but I will try.
Have a nice night everyone, sleep well!

        Re: Motivated in May

        Good morning...

Lav, so fun just to get away, we never have control of the weather and the time around Memorial Day Weekend is notorious for scattered rain. Hope you have some time with decent weather. Have a wonderful time.

Pauly, have you been busy? Hope things are going well.

Cyn, hello and have a good one.

Back into my routine, exercise and finding things to take care of around the house and my son's yard. I gardened yesterday for hours, my hands are really sore, but it was fun. I love plants, planting, mulching, and lots of flowers. I bought an herb planter yesterday and was able to get some basil for a new recipe I made. It was so good. Enjoying this time off, but still feeling guilty. Rain today and for the next few days, so will have to get back to work on organizing paperwork, it is never ending. Really focused on an AF summer with the start of Memorial Day and the official start of summer. I bought a new pitcher and want to fill it with tea, summer is no reason to drink. Let's celebrate AF.

          Hi guys -
Lav, I hope you see this before you go --- safe travels, and wishing you a wonderful time! I'm so sorry to hear of the 'wedge' in your whole family -- I hope that the talk between YB and your son will bear fruit. Great that you made a plan together...

Pauly, that's a funny term 'road rash', ha, I never heard of that! I hope Louie's face is better. So glad that you had everyone together, butI get the chaos equation! Maybe her sisters can talk to Michelle - I hope she finds her 'happy' soon.

Star, I really hope that you don't continue to feel guilty. The Universe gave you this time to figure out a new step. Keep gardening! You are planting good seeds inside of yourself as well with that activity. Good luck...

I had a long and complicated Sunday, then a similar Monday when I got an 'emergency' client, someone who needs me to take care of some decisions for a move in NYC. So yesterday I went down to the city to meet with other professionals in her apartment. That pretty much took the whole day, and I was wiped out on the train home. I'm struggling with my health... trying to find the right balance of foods to eat and acidity, etc. so far in all but 1 test I am off the charts acidic! I drink no coffee or tea, no meat, and concentrate on alkaline foods. So WTF? I have to get this all figured out, because I am really dragging myself through the days, no fun, and I'd like to get finished up what I started in the land before it's all overcome. We'll see.

Yes Star, an AF summer is what is called for! Wishing all a great Hump Day...

              Re: Motivated in May

              Greetings from rainy land...

We have had two days of pounding rain, my goodness, I am so glad I planted more stuff the other day. Kind of a quiet day yesterday with my husband, he caught a cold and feels lousy, so we were low key. It was nice. I am trying to take each day as it comes, consider it a gift, go where it takes me.

Cyn, how hard to be so busy and not feel well. I wonder reason you are acidic while avoiding all things you are supposed to? I wonder what your naturopath would say, maybe they have run into that before. Thanks for the support on staying home right now, I am getting things done, lonely at times, but it is a different life not going to a job daily. Working on getting healthy, eating lighter and it feels good. Sounds like you have clients for your organizing business, good, but not last minute. Have a good one.

Pauly, daughter and baby are doing well, not going over there till the weekend, they are trying to settle in and find a new normal, so respecting that, but it is hard. My first instinct is to drive over there every day, just for an hour, but they have no schedule right now, and need there time. I am grateful mom and baby are doing well. Did the weather there get any warmer? It is cooler here now, but should warm up next week. I want summer and pool time.

Hello to Lav, wishing you a relaxing time away.

              Have a good one.

                Re: Motivated in May

Morning all - sheesh Star, 2 days of pounding rain, that's intense. I hope that lets up for you - the rain is here today, but maybe not so strong. So glad to hear that baby and Mom are good, and congrats on being so respectful of their need to get their 'new normal figured out! I hope your HB feels better soon, and that you don't get the bug! Pauly, I was more of a tea drinker these past few years, but I would have a cup of joe in the afternoons to keep going. Now no caffeine is hard. But it makes me realize how much I counted on it to keep me going, maybe too much, maybe I should have listened to my body and rested more. Anyway, I heard about this beverage Teeccino (got to on Amazon), and I freally like it - the Java version is really flavorful and dark; but no caffeine and no acid! Whew! I use it as an afternoon treat, plus it does seem to give me a little lift, maybe from the protein in the almonds in the mix.

Star, I have bee reading that it's not just diet alone that makes a body acid, it's lifestyle and stress. I had had a couple of tough days, with not great sleep and no meditating or yoga... that's what made the difference! Deep breathing alone alkalizes the body! Who knew! But i was very worried about what foods to eat, how to menu plan, etc. and thank goodness I found. A site that has all that; recipes, shopping list, etc. so I am good to go. Plus, guess what, my Ph this morning was really good! (I napped yesterday and was careful about food...) so, onward.

Wishing all a great AF Thursday, and great health as well...

Morning friends, up early cuz I got up to use the bathroom and just never fell back asleep, think its cuz the air is stagnant in the bedroom and hubs is being a tightwad with the A/C! Tonight I'm turning it on,I dont care what he says,Star,I understand that instinct to be with your daughter and grandson but also the hesitation cuz with a newborn they have to get their sleep when they can,I don't miss those days, yikes,I remember I kept Lou overnight when he was tiny and he woke up crying and I couldn't calm him,I called Kell at 2 am and told her I was bringing him home! Isn't that awful? Still makes me feel like a bad Nan Lav,hope you're enjoying your time at the beach Cyn,I was thinking about when we were chatting about LDN,I wonder if that might be something to look into for you? I take bromelain/turmeric capsules, supposed to help with inflammation in the body, maybe give it a google,I have a curvature in my neck and it seems to help with the headaches I get from that, listen to me trying to act like a know it all haha I'll make it through work coasting on fumes and come home and rest my brain for a bit I'm so tired,oh well, wishing us all a grand AF Thursday

                    Re: Motivated in May

                    Good morning...

Feeling a little lonely for some reason. I think it was the rainy days and staying in more, not sure. Anyway, got through most of my paperwork, it took over three hours of straight sorting, throwing, organizing. There is alot of stuff over the years. Today warmer ad no rain forecast I think, so getting out, will enjoy being outside.

Cyn, very interesting that stress, sleep, etc., affect PH balance, but of course that makes sense to me when I think about it. If stress causes me to get sick, of course it would affect other health aspects too. I get to go to yoga class today and looking forward to it, it is so relaxing. Good you were able to get some self care in.

Pauly, yes it is hard not to see my new grandson, but my daughter was very clear about boundaries as last time she did too much and it did not work well for her. She is determined to breast feed and is working on that but facing a few issues. She is such a good mom. I am proud of her. I agree it is some relief to not be asked to watch a new born overnight, it was hard enough with a 2 year old for four days. But I loved it too. Getting up every two to three hours is rough especially as the days go on, you have to be young for that. LOL. Turn that air on, I hate waking up feeling sweaty and stuffy, it must be warmer there now. Good, we want summer.

I saw Lav's FB posts and pics, she is getting some good weather and the scenery is lovely. Good for her, a well deserved get away. Miss her on our thread though. Plans today include exercise, meal planning, grocery shopping and taking care of neighbor's dogs. They are so sweet. Have a great AF Friday.

                      Re: Motivated in May

                      Morning all -
Star, glad that all is going well for your daughter, how wonderful to be so proud of her as a mom. I'm glad that you are taking care of the neighbors dogs, glad that they are sweet dogs. I hope that is the beginning of a friendship! Yep, your torrential rains hit here last night - another big blowing storm. I forgot that ll the tree bud clutter would fill up the gutters, so I see some overflow this morning, oh well. Will get out there and clean some downspout in a bit.

Pauly, so sorry that you lost sleep last night. Can you put a small fan in the room along with the AC? I do that just because the AC cycles on and off all night anyway. I dread putting the window units in, but we'll have to do it at some point. I hope you make it through your work day! Thx for your thoughts on supps... I'm sticking to this alkaline approach to see how my body is doing. Those test strips each morning are amazing info... my naturopath says just to keep tweeting my diet to keep in the 'good' territory. Yesterday I was in a really good PH level, today not so much, probably because I lost a lot of sleep last night calming my dog who suddenly is terribly afraid of thunder and lightening. Oh well!

Wishing all a great AF Friday and a lovely evening. Tonight. May we be well...

Morning friends,Cyn,its great you can stick to eating healing foods,I do great for a few days then let "a little bit of this" in and it turns into more and more,I'm trying to quit smoking so I've been kinda more lenient with foods,Kells trying to quit too yay! I know how competitive she is with me so I'm gonna spur her on by showing my stats on the CIG counter,Star, loved, loved the pic of the boys! Re: Motivated in May

                          Greetings friends,

                          Back in Lav-land now
We had a great (short) trip & the weather was pretty decent despite the weather forecasts - go figure, ha ha.
YB said there was a ton of rain here last night, thunder storms & even a power failure. Glad to say I missed all that!
We packed in as much as we could on a short trip & loved every second of it too. Can you picture a 6 year old playing miniature golf for the first time AND getting a hole-in-one?? Needless to say she was quite pleased
The wild ponies on Assateague Island are always a hit, love stopping there.

Star, I saw your pic with your grandsons, precious!
I know your daughter is up to her eyeballs right now with so much to do but it's something we go thru & manage to survive. Handling newborns & toddlers, dayto day is for the young!!! Glad you are keeping yourself busy, there is always something to do, right?

Cyn, deep breathing is the quickest & easiest way to help regulate our acid base balance. I try to stop & take 3 deep breaths hourly (while awake) which also helps me center myself if I feel like I am getting cranky or something. I'm sure you have seen these charts - I have several of them on my Pinterest page, good reminders -
acid alkaline balance - Bing images
I know we (overachievers) have a tendency to keep pushing & pushing ourselves until we drop. We really owe it to ourselves to STOP & take a few breaths every hour on the hour
I hope your weather clears up soon although I can hear some thunder in the distance so this weather pattern wants to keep going on.

Pauly, the AC is an absolute must for me. I melt quickly & become useless in the heat & my allergies just make me miserable with the windows open.
Around here we have been able to switch energy providers every few years & shop around for the cheapest electricity which helps. I am willing to 'rob Peter to pay Paul' like they used to say in the old days. Move some money from your food budget (or some other budget) to pay your electric bill, ha ha! That's what I have always done.

                          Have a peaceful night everyone!

                            Hey all,

Glad you liked the pic, they are so cute, love them. I may get to see them tomorrow for a few hours, lucky me.

Lav, great you had a good time away, I loved your pics too. Those wild horses are so beautiful, what lovely scenery, I did not even know it existed. Very cool. Yes, it is raining here again with big storms, more tonight into tomorrow. I looked at those acid/alkaline charts, very interesting. You are right, you should be young to take care of little babies and toddlers, they require 24 hour care! I love helping out, but need time to recover after. I am trying to keep busy, enjoying trying new recipes later in the afternoon to keep busy and healthy. Made a good Chicken Marsala in the crockpot yesterday, it was pretty good with mashed potatoes. I just saw a new recipe on Pinterest with spaghetti squash, may try that tomorrow.

Pauly, my grandsons are so cute, very busy household right now. Good for you for getting those cigs out of your life. It is hard to always eat right, easier if you eat at home, for me at least. Sorry you are worried, I read on another thread about family concerns, exercising sounds like a good idea to get some of that stress out.

Cyn, I am enjoying the doggies, they are such good dogs, and they have a doggie door which makes it easy to watch them. Those PH testing strips are interesting, seems like getting enough rest is important to your PH levels. Good to know. Regarding air conditioning, I love having central air, it gets really hot and I would melt. It is pretty muggy here already. Any plans this weekend?

                            Have a great AF Saturday.

                              Hi all -

Welcome home Lav! So glad that you had a good trip! Wow, your granddaughter is really getting to a great age to share experiences with, it sound s like you had a lot of fun. OK, I'll have to get myself over to FB to catch up with you all!

Pauly - great news on you and Kell giving up the cigs!!!! Good luck with that - I'll be sending you lots of support from afar. Sorry about the worries... yep, exercise sounds perfect, and don't forget the hypnosis/meditation tapes too.

Star, you sound like you are finding your way really well. Glad that you'll have some more time with grandson 2 today! I look forward to seeing the pics.

Banner day today- I was sad yesterday when my levels were acidic, but I think that was because I had been up half the night in the storm with girl dog. This morning was great, right on target, despite a cup of tea in the afternoon yesterday (I was crumbling!). Thanks Lav for the reminder about stopping to breathe deeply often throughout the day. I feel like my energy levels may be turning around, I'm crossing fingers.

No plans for the weekend - maybe a movie tonight with HB, and SD comes tomorrow. I hope to get back on the land a little, it's been 2 weeks!

Happy holiday weekend all - AF of course --

                                Good evening friends,

Some rain here today but definitely not a washout. Glad I do not have any outdoor plans this weekend - a bit too damp for that.
I have been chatting off & on with Byrdie about LilBit's news, very sad. I'm sure you guys remember Lil, right? I wish her great comfort in her final days

Star, the Midwest sure has had more than it's share of storms, geez. Glad to hear you are enjoying some healthy new recipes. I keep trying more & more plant based recipes in hopes of sparking YB's interest a little. He is a huge consumer of meat & dairy & is now dealing with chronic inflammation in the form of shoulder & wrist pain. I feel so much better without the excessive meat & dairy intake but he won't listen to reason - what else is new? I hope you do get some precious grandson time this weekend

Pauly, quitting smoking is the SINGLEMOST best & hardest thing you will ever do. I swear you are giving yourself the best gift. Wishing you the very best :welldone:
I hope you have a good weekend!

Cyn, glad to hear you are recovering. We need to get you to promise to take frequent rest breaks, deep breath breaks & promise to stop trying to fix the entire world, ha ha!! You do so much for everyone around you, I hope they appreciate you I walked around outside this morning & assessed all the weeds that need pulling but never did get back out to get the job done - maybe tomorrow.

We are dog sitting our son's dogs this weekend but they are staying in their own house. That means we have to drive back & forth several times/day, kind of a hassle but what can you do? I kind of wish I was still on the island with the wild ponies!!!

Have a peaceful night one & all!
