Re: The Weekly Fred...w/c Sunday 4th June

    Greetings Abbers!

It was a nice day here, sunny, bright & still coolish. Had a great afternoon with the girls too

Mick, the cost of car repairs, ugh
I forgot to mention there's also green squash, yellow squash & plenty of eggs, ha ha!! I heard on the news that May may not be the shoe in everyone thought she was. I spent two hours in my car today listening to the fired FBI director testify at the senate hearings in DC - oh boy did that ever remind me of the Watergate hearings back in the day.

    Hi there TT & SnoopStar.
Pauly, your poor plants! How does anyone grow anything in the desert??

PQ, that was so kind of Mick to bounce the weather back across the pond to you, LOL
I hope your baby plants are OK.

We haven't heard from Det all week have we? I hope you are OK buddy, please check in.
Hello to Sam. Pie, SF & anyone else popping by for a visit.

Tomorrow morning YB heads up north for his fishing expedition, son going along too. That means I get to manage the herd of animals, the gardens & everything growing in the greenhouse by myself until Sunday. I may need an assistant if anyone is interested, ha ha.
    Have a peaceful night everyone!

Re: The Weekly Fred...w/c Sunday 4th June

Just had to share...my younger (adult) son plays an online world wide game of some kind. With players from all over the world, one jerk was dissing the victims of the London attack. All the players rallied to defeat him and then had him banned from the game. #In honor of Chrissy's memory. Wow.

The Canadian Government has been in touch with the family daily advising on how to handle the media, deal with red tape and footing the bill for everything. Chrissy's autopsy was delayed but will hopefully be completed next week. We are expecting to have her home soon afterwards with a private family funeral and public Celebration of Life around the 23rd.

Det...so good to see this post. Detox was probably the best place for you as they know the dangers of AL withdraw. Do get some rest and check back later.

Re: The Weekly Fred...w/c Sunday 4th June

I do like this weekly thread, much easier to keep up with things.

Det...hope that you are well. Sounds as if you were having pretty severe withdrawals in the past, so glad that you had medical attention.

Snoopy---I noticed how you said that you limit your news. I pretty much eliminated it. I cut the cable cord and an antenna didn't bring in local stations. We went several months without any news at all. Can't say that I missed it or that it impacted my life in a negative way. Hubby wanted to watch the NBA Finals...so off he went to the cable company....who saw that we had cut the cord and gave us cable for $3 a month! He is the only one who likes to watch the news, so when he turns it on literally all three of us head upstairs. He will ask me what I think of something....and I have no clue what he is talking about. Much of the "news" really is not important for me to know, and with the level of negativity I don't need it. I think we became conditioned to thinking that we needed to be informed of all matters in the world. That is not the case and if I need to know something there is always Google

mornin all....how are we today then? hope all well ..the political circus still goes on this morning...I think the call for General Election was definitely a wrong choice for Mrs May....not unless it was a carefully planned exit strategy for her...so we are no further forward in stability.... the value of the £has fallen ..I think its worth about 3 turnips at present...
between your politics and ours ..who needs television soaps!

hiya SF...Glad you like the noo format ..it does make life a bit easier..yes by not looking/reading the news you arent missing too much....

right peeps have a good weekend...

"Can you get some bleach and some washing powder whilst you're out?" My wife asked.
"Can you not wait until you've opened your birthday presents?" I replied.

When someone calls on your phone you don't know answer it and say, "Westwood sperm bank, you squeeze it we freeze it!"

There are two words in a person's life that will open a lot of doors for them.. PUSH and PULL.

I almost had a threesome last night..

I just needed two more people.

Even though I've gone bald, I still keep the comb I've had for nearly twenty years.

I just can't part with it.

Paddy wins a load of money on the pools. He asks his mate Murphy if he fancies going on the piss in London with him.

Well they arrive in London at this huge hotel. They're put up on the 10th floor. Off they trot on the piss and get back to the hotel about 2 o'clock in the morning. Paddy decides he wants to go for a swim.

Murphy is a bit miffed and asks "where the bloody hell can you go swimming at this time"

Paddy says " We can go in the Thames in our skiddies (underpants)"

Paddy then looks out onto his balcony and sees it's been raining; looking down at the shimmering road he shouts to Murphy "Oi -- the Thames is down here -- look!!!"

At that Murphy rips his clothes off revealing his Y-fronts sprints onto the balcony and dives off. SPLAT!! Straight into the road below.

After about five minutes he manages to pick himself up and shouts up to Paddy who's about to dive off the balcony. "Move over to the left a bit, this is the shallow end 'ere!!!"

Paddy Irish man, English man and Scotsman were travelling in the Australian outback when their campervan broke down. They had to leave the van to go look for help.

They were only able to take one thing from the van each, so the Englishman took water to keep him hydrated. The Scotsman took food to give him engery and Paddy Irishman takes the door.

The English man asks Paddy, "Why did you take the door?"

Paddy Irishman replys, "Cause if I get too hot, I can roll down the window."

Paddy and Murphy are walking down the street. Murphy falls in hole and hurts himself. He calls out, "Paddy, call me an ambulance".

Paddy starts jumping up and down clapping his hands yelling, "Murphy's an ambulance, Murphy's an ambulance".

I've got no problems with genetically modified food!

I've just had a lovely leg of Salmon.

Hubs took in another tortoise from the same guy we got our other one from, this one is a bit reserved, hides, won't eat yet,our other one still thinks he's a dog,in and out of the house, eats like a pig, etc,I wish I still had the video of him coming through the doggie door but its on my old Facebook that I can't access, still up and down,I can process Jon's passing in ways but that doesn't help my sadness for my mom and dad,of course they hurt the worst and that makes my pain worse,Kells still taking it hard cuz he was only a few years older than the girls and they grew up together but I try to help her through, ugh,PQ,thats what we're calling it too "celebration of life" no burial,no priest just a get together to remember next month,Det,big((hugs)) much love to all and I hope we all have a nice, peaceful AF day

Hi folks - Saturday and because its easy to get a park I am back at the office. Things I have to do. Maybe I should come and help you Lav? Actually I dont like farming much so maybe not.
Det - I hope that you do get some rest and take positive steps so that you dont end up in detox again. Hang on in there buddy.
SF - I love the news! I always have - grew up in a home where we always listened to the radio, read the newspaper and discussed the news. Mainstream media is pretty crap but I still follow the media and actually these days its even easier to be more selective. I browse a number of news sources each day. I really do like to feel globally connected even if it it is in a distorted way. And at home news and politics is one of things we all discuss, daughter included. We dont always agree but we are sort of on the same page - otherwise it would be difficult.
But I dont think I should discuss the results of the UK elections with Mick.:eek-new: Need to keep focused on the anti-AL agenda here.

I agree that the weekly thread is easier to follow too.
Hi there Snoops, Lav, Sam and Pauly. PQ - I am very glad that you had a negative about the Lupus. Am still thinking lot about your Chrissy although I never knew her of course.
                    Be good and take care.

                      Good evening Abbers,

I made it thru the day with no help, ha ha!
Mick, I'll gladly make you curtains for your van in exchange for some chicken & dog herding!! You must have water nearby for those ducks or do you let them use your bathtub??
I stopped in Walmart this morning & was shocked to see them selling packaged chicken feet - eww, gross

Det, I am glad you got some good care & I hope you are feeling 100% very soon!

Hi there Pauly, PQ & TT!

I tried to take a break from the news myself today. Craziness seems to be the central theme in politics all around the world these days.
                      Have a peaceful night everyone.

Glad to see you Det. Hope you are getting better.

TT--I spent 15 years working with news rooms, reporters and anchors. All the nonsense that went on for the next great ratings book---well that isn't news. There really are not any outlets that I trust and I find myself cynical or laughing out loud at most of the things reported. I never felt globally connected due to the news. I think I am more of a "human interest" type person. I prefer f2f conversations with people about what is going on in their lives---which usually has nothing to do with who is president. Or I will become captivated by people's personal stories---again it never has anything to do with something reported in the news. I like going deep with a handful of people vs making conversation about what was on NPR. If that makes sense. Plus, I notice with my nervous system it doesn't really do well when I am listening to typical news stuff. So I guess it's a mental health issue as well)

morning good folks..how are we today then?all good ...weekend is here a really wet one here too..even the ducks have failed to turn up..Yep the political circus carries on still ..we are now into blame culture..dont see why every party failed in achieving major issues..so maybe its time yto just shut up and get on with it as a nation ...including Scotland..of course there are armchairs full of political gurus in all corners of the globe trying to give advice, some for the good, some just for hearing their own voice really...very similar to the shenanigans going on over in the us of a..anyways more pressing matters..a brew...

hiya sf...hows you then today? hope you are well..your post...I spent 15 years working with news rooms, reporters and anchors. ..one word in there misspelt ...sounds similar but is missing the w on the beginning..and your next comments corroborate that!better off out of it..what are you up to over the weekend?

hi Det...hope you are better mate, rest up and think about what you want/need to do..

hiya Lav...that deal would suit me defo!!no ducks last night..but there was a fox sneaking and I mean sneaking along the outside of the fence!we had a throwing things competition and it lost...just hope its got the sense not to come back..as for the ducks..if you look on google you will see there is a large pond to the left and rear of our house...so this is really a tea stop for them!yep liked the chicken paws...

hiya tt...hows you then?all good I hope.. .yes we used to listen to the WIRELESS too...as I remember there was one telly in our street...all the kids would get taken round to watch it..whether you wanted to or not Andy Pandy and all that ..while all the mothers..gossiped and smoked themselves to death..most of the husbands were in the Navy ,so everyone smoked RN duty free cigs!what are you up to today then?

hiya ppqp....how are you today? silly qweschun I know ...but hope you are ok...any damage to the garden?Ive just planted up all my fruit bushes into pots...never done this before so we shall see what happens.
