Mae everybody and Happy Father's day to Mick and Sam I didn't send my dad a father's day card just cuz I think it will make him too upset right now is that weird? I just have a hard time knowing what to say/do with him cuz he's a lot like me in our thinking, I certainly wouldn't give a shit about today if I just lost my kid and I would feel like someone was being insensitive to send a card, maybe I'll just give him a nod on his FB page cuz I think about him everyday and I love the old man Mick I absolutely loved the mole joke haha,Lou booked me on the nose with his head last night and it hurts like a mofo still, ouch! PQ,look what you started, asked hubs what he wants special for dinner,,,,breakfast for dinner, ugh,he wants a Denver omlet but my omelets look like something from the bottom of the sink so he's getting eggs with peppers thrown in haha, Det,115 today supposedly, love it!! Much love to all and I hope we all have a nice AF Sunday
I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

I'm taking care of the "tomorrow me"
Drinkin won't help a damn thing! Will only make me sick for DAYS and that ugly, spacey dumb feeling-no thanks!

MAE All, Yesterday I attended a memorial service for a young adult. The magnitude of this loss to his mother, and her grief is overwhelming. I do not know how she will move forward. So far, there are no words, or ways of looking at what happened that bring her any comfort. I think she just has to live with the wound. Pauly, maybe it is this way for your father? So many unanswered questions when contemplating what a parent is supposed to do when a child dies. Or maybe we just don't like the answers?

Curiously, my friend makes no mention of using alcohol as a way to escape this pain. I guess that makes her a normal drinker, or maybe a normal non-drinker. Going numb crossed my own mind a time or two yesterday. Not as a craving, but like a remembered reflexive response to discomfort.

The whole thing has me in a contemplative mood, but wanted to stop by and say hello to you all.

        MAE ALL....

Mick...see you posted on last weeks thread and then started the new thread. Keeping us on our toes eh? What a great view to wake up to, I miss the rural life sometimes. Hope your Father's Day brunch is delicious. Hair still blonde just without any grey!

Sam...copied your post over to the new weekly thread...
        Morning all
think I'm in the right place.... pretty sure if I see mole jokes....
work has become a four letter word in my book, seems that's my new addiction. Two years ago I was crying for work, careful what you wish for!

Hard to believe this year is half over which brings out the age old question: is the year half gone or half there?

        hope everyone's summer is rockin.
        Sam

        Det...same with you...
Happy fathers day to all the daddy-o's in our midst!

how ironic... after getting way too much sun I've come down with a nasty cold. hmmm.
defo taking it easy today and just tidying up around the joint. time for more vitamins.

        be well loves

Sam...I know this 1/2 year has just flown by. I do believe having too much work is still better than having no work.

Det...taking it easy today sounds like a good plan. How did the videoing go?

Pauly...I don't think that's weird at all. There is going to be many hard days to get through. My omelette cooking skills are about the same as yours. Just make it a scrambled Denver instead. LOL 115 :egad:

Pie...Happy Sunday Morning to you too. What a tragedy! There really are no words. I do believe the wound will heal over time but the scar will always be there.

I'm following Det's plan for today and taking it easy. A little ticked off at my youngest son right now, he's not pulling his weight around here and I don't know how to handle it. I'm almost at the point of engaging some family counselling just so everyone can put their feelings on the table. Taking it one day at a time and preparing for the funeral this Friday.

Have a Super Sober Sunday All....:smile:PPQP

          Good evening Abbers,

          Very nice view Mick
The 4 legged neighbors are usually good ones.
We had our daughter & her family here for dinner, had a nice time. YB is OK but just a touch grumpy today, ha ha. I know how to ignore that from experience.

Det, take good care of yourself. Maybe you have allergies & not another cold? They seem very similar sometimes.

Hello Pauly, Sam, PQ & Pie!
I agree with all of you, this year has flown by, geez. Summer arrives in a few days, lots to look forward to, fun stuff I hope.

Pie, I am sorry your friend has lost a child. That has to be the worst thing possible. My brother-in-law never got over losing his son 14 years ago. His chronic depression, alcohol & drug use hastened his own death a few years ago. I wish your friend healing & peace.

Big storm predicted here for tomorrow with 2-4" rain, wind & floods - great.
          Wishing everyone a peaceful night!

            Happy Sunday ABsters!

Pie, good to see you again despite the sad news.

Lav, baton down the hatches! looks like it may rain here which would be great, it's been so darn hot.

PPQ, thanks for getting us on the right thread, I get confused

well, could be bad allergies or a cold, dunno yet but eating well and taking my vitamins. Looking forward to a long sleep for sure.

About the most useful thing I accomplished today was laundry and dishes. Just drained.

the video shoot for work was hectic and crazy but I think we got some good shots. I'll be certainly ready for a 2-day weekend.

Pauly, holy crap I thought it was hot here... guess I'm just not made for this heat.

well, more taking it easy is in order, and packing lunch.

            be well loves

mornin all...well did you spot what I did yustaday?stared a noo week thread, and also put it on the back of last weeks just in case...load a crap but sounds good ...I forgot it was a new week....well pretty hot over here yestrday, supposed to be similar today and tomorrow and then on wenzdi we get the storms ....so without further ado lets have a brew..

hiya Det ...how are you then mate ..signin autographs yet now that you are a star?..aha my cunning plan of confusion worked I see ....you doing ok with your quittin?

hiya blondie ...hows you today then? yep well done on moving the posts ....hope all is as well as it can be with you..I wouldnt live in a city now for a gold clock....mind you where you are,you dont hafta go far for rurality....(made up word.)have a nice day..

hiya pie...how are you then?are you still in your reflective mood?glad the drinking no longer plays a part in your problem solving.when you get thinking, mortality and the lack of is a tuff number to deal with..in Buddhism, the teaching is..accept every day as gift ..but in the grand order the expection is parents move on before their siblings..yesterday ,our family went up to Julies mus and brothers resting place...I never went ...simply because I had been up early doors ,tidied it all up and said and did what I wanted to do on my own with just the surroundings as company..and yes I shed a few tears, but 5 years ago (nearly) I would have been at the vodka without shadow of a doubt..bottom line is hope you are ok..

hiya pauly ..hows you today then?I think you do what you feel is best for and with your dad..so what are you up to today then?off to work...Ive got a friend who is on holiday in vegas at the mo..havet a keloo where abouts tho..whatever you do have a good one...remember today is a gift...enjoy it ..

Just had my water bill of £175 drop on my mat. That's a lot. Oxfam can supply a whole African village for just £2 a month, time to change supplier I think.

I filled out a job application for the local council today and under disabilities I put narcolepsy and tourettes syndrome.
So not only will I be able to sleep at work, but if someone tries to wake me up I can tell them to fck off.

"My wife went to a bad concert in South East Asia!"

              "Singapore?"

"Terrible, and so were the rest of the band!"

              Son: What's love juice daddy?

Me: It's what 2 people make when they're having exciting sex. Anyway? What are you watching?

              Son: Wimbledon tennis....

As a Dad I'll never forget my son's first words...

"Where the fcking hell have you been for the last 22 years!"

I'm not saying it's rough where I live..

But they are selling Father's Day cards in packs of five!

ts not my fault I have a double-chin...

When God was giving out chins..

I thought he said gin so I said I'll have a double.

Happy Monday friends,Mick I liked the idea of putting narcolepsy and tourettes, perfect combo hubs decided yesterday that he wanted Wingstop instead for his fathers day dinner so I had to shell out another $60 I didn't want to spend but oh well it made him and the kids happy,Pie,sorry for your friends loss as much as I'm hurting I absolutely cannot imagine how my mom and dad feel,I know my dad blames himself a lot from what he says but I think Jon had this planned for awhile, just too much stuff missing from his room, too many notes and actions leading up that nobody caught on to,this wasn't spur of the moment like my dad thinks,I just hope everything will be ok,some people get over tragedy and move on with life but I've seen people,, like Lavs bil who totally give up inside,I don't want that,Sam is was great to see you yesterday, glad work is keeping you busy, much love to the rest of the gang and I wish us all a nice AF day

Mick...thanks for confusing us all. LOL That sounded good to me till you fessed up. Seems like quite a few of us are dealing with issues these days. By the way, what does w / c stand for?

Pauly...what's Wingstop? I hope your Dad can get over it too. Hope work went ok today, anymore thoughts of changing jobs?

Off to figure out what to eat. Have a peaceful evening all.....:smile:PPQP

                      Greetings Abbers,

After receiving 47 text alerts about dangerous storms & floods - it wasn't a big deal. Not that I'm complaining or anything, ha ha!
Mick, the storm is on it's way to you so look out, ha ha!!
I finally talked YB into NOT planting tomatoes here because they are always a disaster. Our Amish friend grows the best tomatoes & sells them cheap. He did plant one regular & one cherry tomato plant but no more

Hello to Det, Pauly, PQ & everyone.
PQ, I hope everything goes as well as possible this week for you & your family.
