    Re: July Jubilee

    Good evening friends,

Sick of this hot & humid weather, I am not a fan. Plus I am breaking out in itchy welts on my neck & leg possibly related to yesterday's wasp sting? Not sure.

Star, you enjoy this hot weather, ha ha! You can have all of mine too
I hope you had a good swim with your little guy!
Yep, the pergola is providing sun relief just as planned. The sun is so strong it has even managed to bleach my hardwood floor in the kitchen, not good.
Enjoy your Boston trip, sounds like fun!

Cyn, trying to do anything outside in this heat is exhausting. I take care of the food & water for the chickens then run right back inside for the AC. I am a summer heat wimp!!! Don't hurt yourself working out in this weather. I haven't gotten any storm alerts today but I did get a poor air quality until midnight alert, ugh.
Maxie seems to be gaining a tiny bit of strength in her back legs since starting the gabapentin making it a bit easier for her to get up but her walking is still very slow & torturous & she's having more pee accidents - not great. It's a day to day thing with her, honestly. She eats well & she's still happy to see the kids & wants to be wherever I am. All in all it's a rough situation. I will feel bad having to leave her on her own again on Thursday while I am out with YB at the hospital.

If you girls are interested in making that pasta dish I put on FB be sure you try the homemade mozzarella recipe too - yum

Pauly, I hope you are taking care of yourself.

    Peace to everyone tonight.
    Lav

      Re: July Jubilee

      Good morning...

Another busy day ahead, and super hot. I like the hot weather as long as I have AC, I just love summer. My grandson was a little cranky at times, but it is funny, it doesn't bother me as a grandmother, I just wait it out and distract. We went swimming and it was lovely, super hot though. I can only be out for about an hour and I start to get a headache.

Cyn, I know it will be more challenging to eat well on our trip but figured I can have oatmeal for breakfast and I will eat fish so clam chowder for lunch ad salad and seafood for dinner. It will work out. We are having clam chowder today to prepare our stomachs as we don't want to feel sick when adding fish to our diet. How come you never end up with air conditioning? I cannot imagine when it is so stinking hot out. My cat is acting sick a little too, just lethargic and not eating as much, it could be the heat. I bet you are looking forward to the festival. Hey, I always end up throwing out iris when I divide them, there are just too many.

Lav, it is so hard when a pet is failing, when to decide this is it. This heat does not help either. I will look up the recipe, but no cooking here for at least a week, I am trying to empty out my refrigerator. If I did not swim I would hate this weather. We went to the park last night with grandson and even though there was a breeze, I was dripping with sweat, lovely. Swimming again today with him, looking forward to it but my hair is a frizzy puff ball. I don't care, I have to keep cool.

      Hey Pauly, miss you.

Have a great AF hump day!

        Re: July Jubilee

        Morning all -

Star, so good to hear someone is doing OK in this heat! So glad you enjoy the pool, and especially with grandson. I love the water, I could swim before I could walk, was on the swim team, and spent all day everyday at our community pool. Then puberty happened and I couldn't keep up with 'ritzy' girls and I stopped going... sad. My neighbor is in a swim class indoors that she goes to year-round. I'm thinking of joining it in the fall if i can...

Lav, that's so tough when you have a pup that follows you around, especially when they can't get around very well. Sasha used to stand at the bottom of the steps and howl when I went up to use the bathroom or change clothes, or whatever! I get the stress of leaving an aging dog for the day... my heart is with you. So sorry for the welts - take care of yourself...

90 today, with 97 % humidity! Star, this 1965 split level house has hot water baseboard heat and low ceilings; no place for air ducts for air conditioning. I will put in a window air conditioner in the pet sitter's room, but other than that it's fans... I open up in the morning and get the cool air in and then close it up and use the fans. The windows in the living room are not right even to put in a free-standing air conditioner. We are looking into a large wall unit, but they would have to cut through the brick. We do have a lower level which stays pretty cool, so that's a good place to hang out. The biggest problem is the terrible insulation which just pushes the heat back down into the house, since there is no exhaust fan in the attic... what?! So all of that will get fixed in the fall, but I'm crossing fingers for the poor pet sitter while I'm away. Fortunately she has coped with this in the last few years.

Pauly, thinking of you - take care -

Off to get things mailed off for the festival and try to keep up with all the assignments they are giving me on this end. I'm trying so hard not to get stressed out, but I don't do well with a thousand details that need attention... deep breaths!

Wishing all a great hump day --

          Re: July Jubilee

          Good evening friends,

Can't believe how hot & humid it was today
I guess I should consider myself lucky that all the birds & dogs made it thru the day, geez.
Tomorrow is YB's hand surgery so take off time is 5:30 am. He's actually going to drive himself to the hospital so I can have a little extra time to deal with Maxie. My son will be picking me up at 9 am just as he gets back from work & driving me the almost one hour trip to the hospital. Then I can drive YB & my car home. Crazy plan but it should work I hope

Star, the heat gives me headaches & seems to make me swell somewhat. I don't like feeling a like a slug.
Glad you are enjoying time with your grandson & making good memories

Cyn, I know all about houses with poor insulation, been there. We have a whole house fan that we can turn on & vent the extra heat right out the top of the house if necessary. My BIL was pretty good about making sure the insulation was more than adequate when he built this place. We have done insulation upgrades in some of our older homes, especially the last one that was built in 1919. Had to replace all of the windows too, the roof, the heating system, kitchen, bathroom, etc. Then we added central air & a pool, ha ha. There was almost nothing left of the original structure when we were done. Oh & we built an addition on to house my parents.
No wonder we both ended up losing our minds, LOL
Try not to get overwhelmed with tasks, assigned or not. You have to take care of Cyn first & foremost!

Pauly, we are waiting for you to make your way back, come on.

          Have a nice night everyone!

            Re: July Jubilee

            Good morning...

I will not have access to MWO when I am gone for a week. Had a good and busy day yesterday, laundry, packing and other tasks today to get ready to leave super early tomorrow. Another hot day today, I am staying in and getting things done.

Cyn, too bad your house is not set up for air, that would be hard. Sorry you have so much to do at the festival, take care of yourself and try and have some fun.

Lav, wishing YB healing and peace to you, I think your plan is sensible. Sounds like alot of work on that older home, I am sure it was worth it. Newer houses for me, I like the modern conveniences and big closets.

Hello to Pauly, hope you are doing better, we are here for you.

            Have a good AF Thursday.

Evening all - looong day yesterday and today, finally got home and dog and I are hiding out downstairs to cuddle and get cooled off.

Strangely, I've had two new clients in the last 2 days, just when I can't work with them... but I hope to get them started and work with them when I get home...

Too hot and tired to write more tonight -- Lav, I hope all went well with surgery today, and that Maxie did OK while you were gone. Star, wishing you a wonderful trip! Be safe and have fun. We'll miss you. Pauly, really hoping that you will poke your head isoon, sure miss you. We believe in you!

                Re: July Jubilee

                Greetings friends,

It was a super long day but all went well.
YB's hand is done, now time for healing. Maxie did well on her own for several hours, nice.
Still hot as hell - no nice way to say that!!!!

Star, I wish you a wonderful trip & hope you find some cooler weather. I see Papmom posting daily on FB & she says it's been hot as hell up that way too, ha ha!
                Wishing you safe travels

Cyn, even with my house having central air I still like to just go downstairs into my shop & the family room area for a dose of extra coolness. Maxie cannot do the steps anymore so I don't like to let her see me go there if possible.
Congrats on the new clients, good for you! I hope you have cooled off a bit tonight.

Pauly, we are patiently waiting for you, don't forget us.

                Be well everyone!

                  Re: July Jubilee

Oh Lav, I know that drill well - trying to not be seen so that they won't follow -- I can still hear my girl at the botttom of the steps howling as I take a shower! So glad that things went well yesterday, whew, and that Maxie coped. Wishing you a calm and good patient to live with, and some time for yourself...

Star, hoping you are ahveing a good time. Pauly, I hope you know we are here...

I am trying to decide if I want to drive 1 hour each way for this prospective client to 'interview' me, he's meeting with another person. Do I want a job that is that far away? So far I've been so lucky to have clients pretty close by... gots decide tonight and call him... ah well, we shall see --

Happy AF Friday night all ---

                    Re: July Jubilee

When do we get a break in the awful weather, geez

Cyn, I don't know about you but I am at the point of being pretty darn tired of bending over backwards to please every patient, customer, client.....whatever you are currently dealing with ha ha! I guess you can say I am ready for full retirement
I hope whatever you decide to do goes well for you, take a break if you can.
My current patient is fine, just a touch cranky but I am used to (ignoring) that!!! Come to think of it YB was pretty goofy on the hour long ride home from the hospital yesterday. He was seeing things that weren't there - like tunnels. Good thing I was driving!!! I think he didn't handle the anesthesia quite as well this time. At any rate he is manageable.
Maxie seems supremely confused tonight as well so I think I am going to give her a Benadryl so I can get some sleep, ha ha.

Star, hope you are enjoying your trip!

Pauly, get that 1st day done & out of the way, you'll feel tons better

                    Have a nice night everyone.

                        Re: July Jubilee

Dear Lav - so sorry to leave you alone!! I had another long one yesterday, yes I did go see that client, and yes I hope he doesn't hire me... I should have google mapped the property before hand, that would have given me a clue -- I told him my full out price (which I usually discount somehow for people) hoping that would be discouraging, but he didn't bat an eye . Oh well, I haven't heard from him, so maybe he won't hire me anyway! Than I got home and did a ton of stuff and had to go to a concert last night ( I only stayed till half) . Poor Zander, he looked terrified when he realized he was going to be in the house all alone! I put a sheepskins rug on the couch for him, and turned on the tv, but I could tell it was a stretch for him... I forgot that I haven't been leaving him at night. Fortunately, the dog sitter will probably be here most nights...

Just resting now from a day in the garden, yard, taking multiple huge bags of lawn stuff to the dump, etc. came in, took a shower, and saw that I got a message from my newly- started client, aaargh. So I'll head over there for an hour or so after feeding my pup and me... I guess getting packed will have to wait a bit, but I still hope to get that done tonight. I have everything put out, so it shouldn't be terrible.

Star, I hope your time is going well -

Pauly, I hope your plan is to get back in the saddle -- anyway, come hang with us for some support!

Wishing all a good Sunday night . Lav, I hope your 2 patients are doing OK...

Good to see you Cyn I knew I wasn't really alone, ha ha!
Isn't it funny when you purposely try to dissuade a client/customer but they ignore the hint, won't take the bait ? Been there & done that myself

My patients are doing better than I am I think. I continue to break out in new rashes here & there, it's ridiculous. My entire left lower leg looks like a mega sunburn or something. I guess I have to give up & go search for a Prednisone pack. I hate taking that stuff but sometimes it's a necessity. Believe it or not I just may get my dentist to write a rx when I see him on Tuesday (he's done it before for me - nice guy)

Just had some rain along with multiple severe storm & flood warnings, hope it breaks up this heat wave.
I hope Zander chills out for you & the sitter. He's still adjusting I suppose, poor guy.

                          Take care of yourself!

Morning - rain rain rain here - I'm glad that I worked so hard outside yesterday, I would never have been able to today... seems like it will be raining all day today.

Lav, what's up with all the rashes. Did it start with the wasp sting? That sounds really strange, good luck figuring it out. I guess predispose will give you some relief - I hope your doc will help with that. Good luck! It's terrible to itch like that!

Star, I'm hoping your trip is going well, and that we will hear from you soon.

Pauly, come on back! Wishing you a good day today. Good minute by good minute....

Well, today is finish up everything day. I think I am in pretty good shape, we'll see. I will write tomorrow, probably from the airport, and then after that things will be a crunch for a couple of days.. I'll hop on as soon as I can.

Wishing all a centered, AF day --

We just had a huge thunder storm here with a ton of rain. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler - we shall see!
It seems my troubles started with the wasp sting, then the next day I made the mistake of walking in the veggie garden for the first time this year! There were some tall dark green weeds in the way, I just moved them a bit so I could harvest cucumbers & cantaloupes with my daughter. I wasn't in there two minutes, honestly. The next day (last Tuesday) I woke up itching
