    Re: w/c 23 July

great to see you Pauly. How's it going?
Definitely not baby kale in our garden so no good for salads. I don't like smoothies. But soup might work. Will try an Italian recipe.
    Hope everyone is well

      Happy thursdeee ABerooos!

PPQ, glad to hear you're getting the night off and finally getting a break.

TTops, I think the kale recipe for soup I like is Portuguese caldo verde (or something close to that)

Lav, I'm jealous of your milder weather... still in the sauna here.

TSF, that hike sounds amazing. Yes as a photographer I do indeed see things differently and take notice of
well-composed magazine covers etc. Somehow I'll find a way to make a living incorporating it....

Pauly! so nice to see you.

skin rashes! every summer I get them on my calves and around my eyes and it's dreadful. Need to get to dermatologist I guess dang it.

Mick, I trust all is good and well matey.

Here's a pic I took Friday eve last week of the late sun. It reminds me of some Asian paintings I've seen over the years.

day 50 and feeling pretty spiffy. did some resistance exercise on the weight bench and now figuring out what to do with these
spicy Italian sausages.... I'm sure I'll figure out something

        Greetings Abbers,

Det, what an awesome picture, I love it
I would love to see that digitized & embroidered on something.....(hint)!
Don't know if you eat rice but I make a dairy free risotto using coconut milk & sun dried tomatoes (baked in the oven) & have been know to top it with sliced Italian sausage - yum

TT, I have tried cooking kale but it never seems to get tender - even in a pot of soup. It must need something to soften it up a bit? I don't know.

Pauly, you are back - good!

SF, I regret the time I wasted trying to make someone happy who (as it turns out) 'doesn't trust happiness'. I have never heard anyone ever say that before, it makes no sense to me.
I realized about the time my first grandson was born that I wanted him to know me as a happy person, happy & healthy. He will be turning 9 in November & he knows me as a happy person. I've kept that promise to him & myself & nothing/no one is going to change that! Good for you finding an outlet for adventure, sounds nice.

        Hello to Mick & everyone.
Have a nice night one & all!

          MAE ALL...

Mick...hope you're enjoying yourself and that things are getting sorted. Thinking of you.

Lav...MIL safely back home, fed and watered. LOL Just got to make sure she finishes her antibiotics. She said it's only 2 days I don't need them. My reply Oh yes you do! I am not spending another 12 hrs in emergency!

SF...got the pm and now that things have settled down will be checking it out. Thanks. I'm not a kale fan either. 14 hours sleep, sounds like heaven.

:yay: Pauly's back! :yay: Hope you're doing ok. We'll catch up with posts.

TT...I don't think even kale soup would do it for me. Lots of the gardeners grow kale. Is it supposed to be good for you?

Det...:welldone: Day 50!!! Great job. Wow, what a shot. It does look like an Asian picture.

Time to find something to put in the belly then curl up with my book. Hope we all have a peaceful evening....:smile:PPQP

            Re: w/c 23 July

Lav-I am a bit jealous of your weather. We need a break in the heat. Sometimes I just need perspective on things. He isn't a bad guy or anything. My friend's daughter went in for an 18 hour surgery for her cancer. It is such a sad situation on so many levels. There is no treatment protocol for this cancer since it is so rare, which means insurance is fighting them every step of the way. Plus, the dad (ex-husband) carries the insurance and doesn't want help to pay the out of pocket--which is a lot. And the daughter just turned 18, so technically all the out of pocket would fall on to her. They have had to take him to court several times over the years due to healthcare expenses. All of a sudden, my husband looks like a rockstar I'm already having fun planning out my adventures and it kind of is a relief that I don't have to worry about anyone else.

PQ--yep, kale is the most nutrient dense "greens". I think collards are in line with it. I've been doing a lot of food prep at night--so I can just go to the fridge to get sliced fruit, veggies, grains, beans ect. I'm just not that into making a meal come 5pm. That way I can throw it all into a pan and cook it up or eat it raw.

            Pauly--so nice to see you!

Det--the photography business is definitely still alive and well. When I realized how the business was set up--I was blown away.

                Re: w/c 23 July

Morning all. Haven't got much to say. Off to see a financial advisor today to see what I can do with my billions
I hate this sort of stuff and am super cynical when it comes to dealing with such people. But I need some info before I fritter my savings on kale! Yes it is a so called super food and it grows easily. I actually don't mind the taste - it's just the toughness with this older stuff in our garden. I didn't really mean to plant it - it was from some free seedlings I was given last year.
We tried swede recently and I can't say I like it. But its cheap. It worked in a curry and I did put it in vege Cornish pasties which were quite good. I rarely cook pastry so that was a treat and the pasties don't have to have a lot of fat in them.
Mick - will this talk of food bring you back. You are sorely missed on the thread.

                  Re: w/c 23 July

SF...it's totally a relief when all you have to worry about is yourself. First time I planned a trip without the husband or kids I kept thinking what am I missing. I so have to get organized and do some meal planning/prepping. If I don't have anything organized I tend to just pick up takeout on the way home. I can't afford it or the calories. LOL

                  Gman...:rara: right back at you.

TT...did you get your billions sorted? At least you're taking positive action to deal with things. Doesn't hurt to just listen. I on the other hand went through all my savings and RRSP's fighting lawyers and just surviving.

Boss back in town for Friday and Saturday so taking tomorrow afternoon off and walking away from all responsibility. We're currently in a heatwave so won't be walking far. LOL Have a great evening all....:smile:PPQP

                    Good evening Abbers,

Don't be too jealous of the weather here SF - it's changing as we speak. The humidity has rolled back in & tomorrow it's supposed to rain 2-4" with 35 mph winds.
Stupid me agreed to watch my sons Goldens (the Insanity Twins) so I'll be stuck in the house tomorrow with 2 extra dogs, oh well.

PQ, enjoy your time off - really
Hope the heat is not too bad.

TT, we sat down with a financial planner last fall. The guy was nice, very helpful & about the same age as our kids BUT he knew his stuff. He helped us get stuff organized so we can spend less time wondering & worrying. I hope you get that same relief.

                    Det, Congrats on 50, awesome!!!
                    Hi there G.

                      ooooh rooooh ABerooos!

Lav, insanity twins and extra dogs? oh boy... hope you have some relaxing tea on hand.

Guitarista, great to have you pop in and jam with us. Thanks for the encouragement.

regarding kale I tend to cut it into bite sized bits and saute at high temp in a wok using coconut oil.
It comes out a bit toasty and slightly crunchy which I like. (with garlic of course!)

another day feeling like an industrial robot but no drama at least. Tomorrow will be a welcome change of pace
as we move some things over to another building. Jeepers that was boring. Not even sure why I bothered to
                      type it. ack!

last therapy was all about anger and anger precursors etc. I'm happy to say I almost never get angry but it's still
an interesting subject and helps me be more aware of my emotional reactions.

PPQ, I badly need to get myself organized. I hardly ever write lists or make any effort to plan things correctly.
Thankfully I work well by the seat of my pants but it does get tiresome.

time to get headed to bedtime.

                          Re: w/c 23 July

Hi folks. Cold Saturday here. Up early to do some writing. The meeting with the planner went well. I am investing in a kale recycling business - just joking! Nah another driving lesson with daughter who sits her test on Monday. Then home to make tofu burgers that turned out well.
Have discovered a good cheapish source of fresh tofu. And bought a ton of Indian spices at this place.
Det I like to plan ahead - but everyone is different. My planning and organising however can be a source of worry as things can change despite the best laid out plans. There are many factors outside our control so we do what we can with those under our control. Removing AL is a good step. Don't want to sound preachy.
Hi there everyone else. Hope we see some faces on the abstinence front here. How are you doing Paulywogg?

Det...I on the other hand do not work well by the seat of my pants.

Lav...we're about 10 degrees cooler today so that helps. Hope the dog sitting is going ok.

Just got invited to dinner and meet my new Great Nephew and Niece...can hardly wait. Tomorrow I think I need to do some rescuing in the garden....:smile:PPQP

                              Good evening Abbers,

Just sitting here among many fur bodies awaiting some big storm, ha ha!

Det, the Insanity Twins ARE the dogs (just want to clarify that so people don't think I'm talking about my grandsons, ha ha!) I have other names for the boys sometimes!!!
Let me do a little thinking about your pics. If I could get one digitized into a smallish size - what should I stitch it on? Hmmm. Your work is wonderful
I wish I could say I never get angry but I can say I don't hold on to it any longer. I have learned to recognize stuff like that & switch gears - works for me.
Glad you are figuring stuff out.

PQ, it's so humid here my hair looks like hell, honestly. What can you do but stay in the AC, right?
I hope your garden doesn't grow mean weeds like mine does that cause severe contact dermatitis, ugh.

TT, glad you meeting went well. Financial planners are not all bad, sometimes they have good ideas.
Good luck with your possible business venture, ha ha.

Hello to all the missing folks & wishing everyone a nice night.

                                Aloooha evening ABerooonies!

Tired after a hot sweaty date this afternoon.
a date with the weedwhacker that I finally got going. Looked at myself in the mirror when done and I was covered in
twigs and such which I'm all allergic to. ack! Good long shower and some ointment and hopefully all is well.

TTops, you got me at first with kale recycling! I'm a big fan of Indian spices and the health benefits that lay within
                                are also very interesting.

PPQ, how was dinner with family? sounds great. My nearest family is thousand+ miles away. Think I need to make some
phone calls this weekend and catch up.

Lav, ah so... the insanity woofers. you can get pics digitized on all kinds of things these days which is pretty groovy. I cycle through
                                them as my laptop wallpaper.

No idea what I'm up to tomorrow... going to sleep til I wake naturally and prolly putz around the house and garage on projects
                                which abound.

Pauly... thinking about you. Hope all is getting better.

Mick, trust yer having some kind of fun.
