    Re: Anchored August

    Good evening friends,

Beautiful day here although it would have been even nicer I had been able to sleep past 4:45 am. Geez, I seem to be waking up sometime during the 4 am hour every day, ugh.
The driveway guys were here by 6:30 am & finished up at noon. The job is done & it looks wonderful. I am grateful! We have our vehicles parked over at a neighbor's house while the asphalt cures for a day or two.

Pauly, sorry you are still feeling sick. Don't let yourself get dehydrated, OK? Take care

Star, I am happy to hear you are coming around & looking at things thru grateful eyes. It really makes a huge difference in our outlook
That's nice you will be hosting your SIL. It's always good to strengthen relationships when you can.
Having pro painters do the work is a great idea. I just can't physically do that stuff anymore.
I love the vegan noodle soup & even have YB eating it because I add a lot of fresh local mushrooms, ha ha.

Cyn, I hope you enjoy your company but don't wear yourself out!
They're all grownups & and can do for themselves, right? I had those allergy symptoms for a few days but they have let up. Hope you feel better soon.
A lot of people around here have crushed rocks on their driveways but they are a pain to deal with. You can't do any snow blowing or plowing on them & in the summer the heat heats up your tires & causes them to feel lumpy for the first few minutes of driving - weird sensation.

Looks like I am Insanity Twin sitting again starting sometime tomorrow, oy!
    Have a nice night everyone!

      Good morning...

Lav, I woke up at 4:40 a.m., yuck, a little too early, but what can you do? My leg hurt, I was busy, was at m son's twice yesterday, when they delivered the flooring and later to help him move everything to the middle of each room in preparation for the painters, tons of laundry and the soup. But I read alot too, both in side and out and think the sitting had something to do with the pain. I took a little ibuprophen and hope the pain lessens. I bet your driveway looks sooooo nice, love when a project is completed. Still cool and beautiful here, all the windows are open and it is lovely. Even at 5 am. LOL.

Cyn, hope your dinner party went well and you are feeling better.

Pauly, so sorry you have stomach upset, feel better. Today is your day off so you can rest.

Have a happy AF Friday all.

        Re: Anchored August

Morning all - finally up early-ish, not as early as Lav and Star, but at least I think I'm finally moving off of west coast time.

Pauly so sorry you are sick, take care. I hope you can rest today.

Star, how amazing to have family around that much -- so glad that you are feeling grateful for the chance to be together. Nice that you could help your daughter feel good; you are being super mom to all your kids!

Lav, so glad the driveway turned out well, that's a good thing to have done. Your chickens will be happy to have free range again, right? We had a nice party last night, very low-key. I poached the salmon in the morning so that was done, we started with watermelon gazpacho, had the caprese salad and then a favorite grapefruit/avocado salad on arugula, a quinoa salad with asparagus, radishes, herbs, scallions, all healthy stuff. They loved it! Especially the dessert - an almond flour and blueberry skillet cake, which I made up while we chatted after dinner. So nice to have lots of leftovers that I can eat, woo hoo!

Off to an early morning medical test, then work and clean up the rest of the house for DIL to visit this weekend. I finally put away one of Sashie's crates, that was hard, but that corner it is so pretty now with the large Peace plant there... for some reason these white flower remind me of that sweet soul.

Wishing all a good AF Friday...

          Good evening friends,

Looks like it's the calm before the storm. Hurricane Harvey has been upgraded to a Category 4 storm, OMG!
I am sending positive vibes to all those in the path of that fierce storm & will probably be donating online to the Red Cross when I am finished here.
Our government is not currently equipped to help the folks who are going to need help, sad.

Star, I hope I didn't jinx you & cause you to join my early rising team, ugh
I have been hurting a lot the past few days for absolutely no reason & ibuprofen does bring relief. I wonder what is causing all this - something in the air or what? Glad you are getting so much done to help your son, sounds good.
The driveway does looks good but we haven't driven on it yet. I had to laugh at Mick's comment on FB that it looks like a runway, ha ha! The driveway is kind of long, hence the $$.

Cyn, your dinner party sounded wonderful & a lot of work too!!! Enjoy those leftovers, they can be real blessings
Putting the crate away was a big step, good for you. I actually still have Maxie's collar sitting in my kitchen. I pick it up from time to time & feel a connection to her. I am relieved that our dogs are free from pain now

Pauly, I hope you are feeling better, please check in.

The Insanity Twins are here & had a hard time getting settled for some reason. Oh well.
          Wishing everyone a nice night!

            Good morning...

            Pauly, hope you are recovering.

Cyn, your dinner party sounded great, sounds like you had a good time and ate well! Yes, lots of family right now, but with not working outside the house, it fills my time and I get a chance to help my daughter. Two kids is alot of work, I was exhausted last night. I made veggie pizzas for everyone and used vegan cheese, not my favorite, but that's OK, then I did not overeat. LOL. I will be cleaning today and preparing to leave tomorrow. It will be good to get away, I hope that big hurricane does not influence the weather.

Lav, you are right, Harvey is now a Category 4 hurricane and 45 is too busy pardoning his fellow racists to act like a president. That is so wrong on so many levels. The republicans have got to move towards impeachment before it is too late and our form of gov't is destroyed. It is getting worse and worse. I wonder why we do have pain right now? I know sitting around too much is bad for me, it happened when I worked in that office too. Now my leg is fine as I was running around till 9:30 last night. We had perfect weather, 70s and partly sunny, great day for the park and being outside. I have my house opened up and can hear the crickets, it is soothing to me.

Focusing on gratitude and peace today. Have a great AF Saturday.

              Morning friends,

It's a pretty day here, cool and bright. Lucky us, not having to deal with that extraordinary weather that poor TX has. I was astonished to read that some towns were telling the people who stayed in their homes to put their SS numbers on their arms in case their bodies needed to be ID'd...!? Holy Cow. Severe weather increases, and yet so many people refuse to believe the science that demonstrates that human activity plays a role. We have to keep that science alive while those facts are being covered over and/or banned. Red Cross donation for sure Lav, thanks for the reminder.

Star, you sound like you had a huge day yesterday! Good luck with everything today as you get ready to go on your trip. Your family is lucky to have you available to help on so many levels. I hope the aches go away soon - I felt that way too, but I think it was part of this flu/cold thing that I'm finally getting over now. Take care and don't get too tired before you leave!

Pauly, did you get some rest yesterday? I hope that you are feeling better. It feels to me like the change-of-season health issues we always face are coming earlier this year. Good luck!

Off to go visit SD in New Haven today. We're taking the boy dog so that he can visit his little poodle cousin... he's pretty lonely these days, and is still a little startled when we leave him alone in the house. I set him up in front of the TV last time e left him for a few hours a night... he seemed to do better ha!

Wishing all well on the Saturday, and sending white light to all those suffering in the south...

                  Good evening folks,

We were certainly blessed with beautiful weather today, no complaints.
Watching the news about the hurricane is pretty scary. Looks like there has been one storm related death so far. Hoping for the best outcome for the folks in Texas.

Star, you are SO right, watching two kids is much harder than watching one, ha ha!!! I hate to tell you but in a few years they will be working your last nerve. Thank goodness we love them so much, right?
I hope your trip is fun & peaceful.

Cyn, it does seem like the winter aches are starting up way too early. I thought I was being a little crazy but I know what this old body feels like in the winter, hmmm.
I hope your day of visiting went well!

Pauly, why would you think beer would make your stomach feel better?
I'm sorry you made that choice, it's never a good one for the likes of us. I hope you can work out something with your insurance company to mitigate the cost of the accident(s). Are your kids contributing & helping pay premiums. I made my kids do that until they were able to get their own insurance.
Please get yourself reset & get back on your plan, OK?

                  Have a nice night everyone.

Lav, I was exhausted yesterday but it was fun.

Cyn, hope you continue to feel better. Sounds like you are healing pretty quickly.

Pauly, sending you positive vibes for a better week. You deserve it.

I will get on MWO if and when I can, not sure due to not having my computer with me. Have a great AF week.

                        Morning all --

Star, wishing you safe travels - GOOD WEATHER - and lots of fun on your time away. I'm sure with all the hours your HB puts in for work, and all the family stuff that's been going on, it will be really nice for you two to have some quiet time together.

Pauly, I also hope that you can get back on a good eating plan to heal your gut and calm your mind. I know how hard it is - I have to think carefully about food every day, but feeling better in the long run is so worth it! Sorry about the insurance issues, that it always hard.

Lav, I hope your weather is staying cool and lovely like here. We actually had a good picnic in a beautiful park in New Haven (who knew?) , and the two dogs were great, they just chilled out with us on the picnic blankets. Long day, though - left at 10 and got home at 4... I took a long nap!

We have been staying up too late watching TV things, last 2 nights we watched the last of the Sherlock series. Not being used to TV, it really cranks up my head! No more of that now, I'm going to do relaxation stuff before bed and hope to improve my sleep, which is not great right now...

Wishing all a peaceful Sunday, with compassion for the poor TX people suffering...

                          Re: Anchored August

                          Greetings August dwellers!

Pauly, I understand only all too well the lure of AL when sick.. it's a long standing trigger for me as it does offer temporary
relief and our brains know that. You need a huge whack of nutrition and especially B vitamins from something efficiently
metabolized like salmon or free range eggs. try to eat an entire bunch of organic parsley or cilantro every day...really! I just
rip off a handful now and then and munch it down like the cow that I am it does so many wonderful things I can't even list here.

Treegirl I totally agree that showing light and compassion is our best remedy for social angst. Fighting fire with fire burns down our
society twice as fast and I'm very worried that our corrupt media services are fervently pushing us into more and larger public conflicts.
If a hate group did a demo in my home town I'd certainly be there to protest, but I would not go with a group armed with bats, sticks
and coke cans filled with concrete as was done at the most recently publicized event. I would have my weapon concealed and it would
remain so unless something truly horrid occurred. I would also have my own camera as I do not trust our media. We need more carrots and
                          less sticks!

Lav, pain for no reason is not a good sign. Maybe time to test for inflammation markers? hoping the best.

Treegirl, the sherlock with Cumberbatch is fantastic... he's brilliant for sure.

going to try to pry myself out of hermit mode for a bit, then have a photo shoot this eve. Should be fun.

                          ciao for now everyone

                            Good evening friends,

The Insanity Twins have gone home - they weren't really all that bad
My daughter suddenly realized she needed someone to watch my granddaughter tomorrow so I volunteered, of course. We went to pick her up & we all had a good early dinner at a small Israeli eatery in their town - yum I had a delicious platter of falafels served on a huge puddle of hummus, with their home baked pita & a cucumber/tomato salad. The guys ordered chicken shawarma which looked pretty darn good too. Their fresh mint tea is delicious! Nice to have something completely different once in a while.

Star, I hope you have a wonderful relaxing trip.

Cyn, the weather is perfect here, just perfect. Glad you enjoyed your picnic, sounds like fun.
I am still dealing with my second outbreak of poison - something, not a happy camper but I don't want to go on a second round of steroids, ugh.

Pauly, I hope today was better for you. Take good care of yourself!

Det, your camera is getting a good workout, nice to hear.
There is a reason for the aches & pains - age - but I am mostly in denial, ha ha! I am doing tons more things than my parents were able to do at this age so I really shouldn't complain. I just keep moving & try not to well on it too much.

Have a nice night everyone. Time to go read some little girl books before bedtime, haha!
