ppqp...thats crap about the prairie...I remember fighting fires when we were there in fact on one I remember a helicopter dropping water...you would have thought by now they woud have worked something out even if they had cleared round the misfired ordnance..that base must have been there for a long long time ...on one exercise there I recall a soldier detonated a mustard gas shell...it was ww1 stuff ...the only person that could do anything or knew anything was a retired doctor in Calgary..

I agree with you re the boss ...do it your bloody self ...and by the way who has done your job before you put pen to paper

Mick, when you said you were holidaying in Cornwall, I came across a little book I had when we stayed at The Lobster Pot, Mousehole, Cornwall. Delightful. I also loved North Wales, we had a caravan in St. Asaph. I always went into the woods to pick primroses and violets. Nice memories.
Heading off to the funeral in the a.m. Peggy is at her sitters and I am footloose for a few hours. Started my car this a.m. and heard the dreaded click. I now have a new battery. This is the 3rd time it's drained, so it was due.

Det, I could just feel the cold suds on me, very uncomfortable.

Pauly...I too avoid malls at any cost! Sorry to hear you're ailing. Couch glueing sounds good to me!

Mick...Wow, at least it wasn't a mustard gas shell. People are getting pretty fed up and this may result in some changes at CFB. The county volunteer fire fighters are not allowed in to assist and like you say...why does this continue to happen. CFB says there is too many undetonated "items" lying all around the base and it's a matter of liability. There is an inquiry underway and a class action law suit has been filed.

          SK...good to see you.

Not going to be glued to my couch as it's another lab appointment with MIL tomorrow. Phoned her to remind her and she said really, tomorrow? Why do I need blood tests? So I just said if you want to renew your prescriptions in 3 months you need to get this done. Believe me I'd rather not bother as well. Hope we all have a peaceful evening....:smile:PPQP

            Good evening Abbers,

I had a pleasant 4 1/2 hours with the grandkids, stuffed them full of pizza & brownies then sent them home
It was nice to catch up after several weeks, they are growing up.

Mick, that campsite looks beautiful. I'm sure you will enjoy yourselves, I hope the weather cooperates!
Here's a pic of a ground hog, a small one. Now picture one about three times this size: Groundhog - Wikipedia
They don't bother me but they do have large, sharp front teeth that freak me out, just a little.

PQ, do you think your boss is capable of doing anything for himself? I guess there's no time to learn like the present, huh?
I'm glad your surgery is scheduled, it's been a long time coming. Good luck with the MIL tomorrow

Hello to Det, Pauly, Pie & anyone else checking in later.
            Have a nice night everyone.

Yup...since he's come on board he's replaced the "office supply" company with a "friends" company, hired a building superintendent who apparently is now contracting out to the said "friends" company on off hours!!!

                Re: w/c 10th

morning all how are we today then?good I hope ...no rain this morning ...new set of horses in the field ...being pretty nosey, over the fence to see what they can eat...Ive got a list of things to do today ..yup a list..julie is like that ...yeh whatever another list!! out detecting tomorrow ,so we shall see what turns up ..

                ok brew time it is..

well then Lav how did it go with the geekays? did you notice much change in them or still the same?as I recall you said both their natures were very different.. ta for the info on the woodchuck...now Ive got more ammo to add to my bore you stoopid .com pile for instance ..groundhog day ...I now know where the saying comes from and also the saying

if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
A woodchuck would chuck all the wood he could
if a woodchuck could chuck wood!

so heres an extra special brew...

hiya ppqp how are you today then?all good ...sounds like your boss aint running a business but setting himself a nice little friends club....heres an interesting albeit wiki article on cfb ...particularily batus...

British Army Training Unit Suffield - Wikipedia note how it was initially used for testing chemical rounds/weapons..My regiment ..the 4th was the first to fire live rounds down range in 81..although we had been to Canada a few times before we had only been allowed to fire training rounds and shout bang at people!! mebbe they should go back to that? I also recall our tank breaking down on the prairie and it took them about 3 days to get us ...we had food and rations etc on board ..but it gets pretty cold at night..so we chopped down a tree..we had 2 big axes on board..and made a fire ...there was hell to pay ..not about tree preservation etc but as obviously you know there is absolutely nothing on the plains ,and this tree had been used as a common landmark...ooops...

hey pauly ...sack the mall stick to the dollar store ...most of the stuff will end up there anyways in the future!!how are you?hows your dad ? still strugglin to light those patches?

big hello to everyone else ..

                Just walked down a street where the house numbers were 64K, 128K, 256K, 512K & 1MB.
Well, that was a trip down memory lane.

Like most people I want a big house, a nice car and plenty of money.
Well I've finally decided it's not going to happen while I sit on my arse and do nothing,
so tomorrow I'm going to leave England and re-enter it illegally.

This guy is stranded on a desert island, all alone for ten years.
One day, he sees a speck in the horizon. He thinks to himself, "It's not a ship." The speck gets a little closer and he thinks, "It's not a boat." The speck gets even closer and he thinks, "It's not a raft."
Then, out of the surf comes this gorgeous blonde woman, wearing a wet suit and scuba gear. She comes up to the guy and says, "How long has it been since you've had a cigarette?" "Ten years!", he says.
She reaches over and unzips a waterproof pocket on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh cigarettes.
He takes one, lights it, takes a long drag, and says, "Man, oh man! Is that good!"
Then she asked, "How long has it been since you've had a drink of whiskey?" He replies, "Ten years!"
She reaches over, unzips her waterproof pocket on her right sleeve, pulls out a flask and gives it to him.
He takes a long swig and says, "Wow, that's fantastic !" Then she starts unzipping this long zipper that runs down the front of her wet suit and she says to him, "And how long has it been since you've had some REAL fun?"
And the man replies, "My God ! Don't tell me that you've got golf clubs in there!"

                How do you milk sheep?

Bring out a new iPhone and charge £1000 for it.

What's the difference between a tramp and an MP?
One sits about on a bench all day, usually falling asleep, enjoys long liquid lunches and contributes nothing to society.
                The other's a tramp.

I went out with my metal detector this morning, and ended up digging a hole 23 feet deep before I remembered that I was wearing steel toe cap boots

Apparently pregnant women should be careful when going camping because you could attract a bear to your location.
And the you would rip its head off for no good reason

                'Hello?'
                'Hi, honey. This is Daddy.
                Is Mommy near the phone?'
                'No, Daddy.
She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul.'
After a brief pause, Daddy says, 'But honey, you haven't got an Uncle Paul.'
'Oh, yes I do, and he's upstairs in the room with Mommy, right now.'
                Brief Pause.
'Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do.
Put the phone down on the table, run upstairs,
knock on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy
that Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.'
                'Okay, Daddy, just a minute.'
                A few minutes later
The little girl comes back to the phone. 'I did it, Daddy.'
                'And what happened, honey?'
'Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of bed with no clothes
on and ran around screaming. Then, she tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser and now she isn't moving at all!'
'Oh, my God!!! What about your Uncle Paul?'
'He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on, too.
He was all scared and he jumped out of the back window and into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know that you took out the water last week to clean it. He hit the bottom of the pool and I think he's dead.'
                Long Pause
                Longer Pause
                Even Longer Pause
                Then Daddy says,
                'Swimming pool? ...........Is this 486-5731?'
No, I think you have the wrong number ...

Hi Mick and everyone. The swimming pool joke was very funny. Mick, St. Asaph's does have the RAF base.

PPQ, love the list of your boss's achievements, what a moron.

Pauly and Det good wishes for a speedy recovery.

I'm back from Michigan. The service was short but meaningful. The music was Dylan (knockin on heaven's door, my choice), Joe Cocker, CCR and the Stones. From everything my step kids told me he knew his days were numbered but didn't say a word. My daughter was very emotional. Had a lovely brunch at The Yacht Club and enjoyed the trees turning color. Flying is just awful these days. Security opened my luggage and closed it with the clothes hanging out. A man standing with me said "Dude, I hope you're going to fix that".

Later in the fall I am either going to Maine for lobster and tree colour or NYC to see plays.

                              Talk later.
