Re: w/c 1st october
Good evening Abbers,
Aww PQ, you got the snow & a cold? Darn, I'd go back to bed too. Hope you feel better & thaw out quickly
Mick, the chicken survived & my heart rate has returned to normal, ha ha!
What makes a dog suddenly realize - Oh, there's a chicken, I think I'll go pick it up?? Duh!
Pauly, still thinking of you sweetie. I keep saying ALWAYS be aware of your surroundings & keep your eye on the exits, you never know.
I'm very saddened by this shooting today, there seems to be no end.
Hello Det, Pie, TT & anyone checking in later.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night.

Re: w/c 1st october
Oh my, what a day. getting death threats at work so that's pretty un fun.
I'm a shooting sports enthusiast (and not an idiot) and I couldn't be more upset by what this maggot did. An act of abject
unmitigated evil. There are many details we don't know yet so I won't conjecture too much just yet. I will point out that the criminal use
of legally acquired fully-automatic weapons is extraordinarily low. Far more people die in swimming pool accidents. not in any way is this
supposed to justify this psycho's actions. To legally acquire a belt-fed full auto NFA Class3 Title II weapon is a huge ordeal that takes a full year.
It requires local, state and federal background checks, duplicate fingerprint copies etc. And you had better be rich (apparently he was) as one will
easily run you over $50K USD. The target of the attack is also interesting... a country music festival populated by (I'm assuming) by mostly
conservative types. I just don't get it. Heart-breaking and just so incomprehensible.
let us not get this down to the point of lapsing. AF is #1 and humanity will prevail.

Re: w/c 1st october
Det,both hubs and my dad are gun collectors/shooting enthusiasts not idiots either, this guy obviously had something planned and if it hadn't been shooting it would have been a bombing or something cuz they found explosive stuff in his house and car, still waiting for details but I'm thinking he was in financial trouble,I'm very proud of the local police, fire department,EMTs and hospitals, the community has come together full force to offer the families places to stay, food, blood donations for the victims, etc, very happy to be surrounded by the great people of Las Vegas tonight.Last edited by paulywogg; October 2, 2017, 08:40 PM.I have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Re: w/c 1st october
morning all...glad to hear from you Pauly ....lets not forget all those that have been injured or murdered in Las Vegas, who knows what goes through the minds of humans...in a short span oftime a rational being can turn into an unstoppable monster..I see already that gun holders are being castigated, and that guns should be banned ..lot of emphasis being put on how he got the weapons, how he adapted them int a sustained fire role..etc.. Yes the laws should be revisited and there are no doubt some questionable legislation that should be looked at,but think about it ....cars are being used to kill people deliberately ...have they been banned? anyway pray for those who died and were injured ...isnt it strange ...one person caused all that ...and yet he also caused a whole city to come together to help the victims.Over here we have very tight gun laws ...and yet we still have them on the streets..the confusing things for me over this side are,, watching television His local gunsmith was on ..yes he had numerous guns and the smith didnt think there was an issue...? I think possibly the type and ease of bumping such types would cause concern.....how did he manage to get 10 bags of weapons into the hotel room? the number of weapons ,tripods/bipods and rounds wouldn't have fitted in a couple of bags...I stress my opinion is my opinion alone..
I dont particularly think this is a jokey day so heres a brew folks ...stay safe and look after yourselves...Last edited by Mick; October 3, 2017, 06:54 AM.af since the fourth of July 2012...howzat then America..now proudly marching into year 12

Re: w/c 1st october
Mae everybody,Mick excellent point and they said in a briefing yesterday that they found at least 10 pieces of luggage in his room,he checked in on the 28th of Sept so that gave him a few days to keep hauling them up I guess,he just looked like a regular older guy so maybe thats why nobody got suspicious, plus the hotels have at least 4,000 rooms, can't keep track too well I think,of course prayers for all the victims and families of this attack,I just was super proud of the community cuz I know a lot of people think us Vegas folk drink, gamble, buy hookers and live in the casinos, nope, just regular people living in a regular community, how's Panda? TT,in all the hoopla I forgot to say hi hope you're traveling well was sad Tom Petty died, all the good musicians are leaving us much love to all and hoping for a happy,AF Tuesday for us allI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Re: w/c 1st october
God evening Abbers,
I'm here Pauly, last as usual.
Glad you got your Halloween decorations up, I don't bother with too much anymore. No trick or treating kids here in cow country.
Are you going to go catch a glimpse of 45 when he's in town? Probably not I guess.
I hope your town can begin to heal after this senseless tragedy.
Mick, gun laws around here need some freshening up, don't you think? Almost everyone I know owns a gun or two but they are not idiots. They generally think of themselves as collectors, hunters, that sort of thing. My worry is what happens when these 'normal' people become depressed & use the guns on themselves like my brother-in-law did three years ago? No one wanted to be the one to take his guns away from him even though they knew they really should. I am a happier camper when there's no guns around to worry about.
It's just sad news out there these days. The poor people in Puerto Rico are suffering horribly & we have no government adequate enough to help them out. I just heard the death toll there from the hurricane doubled today. Horrible
Praying for peace on earth tonight & a better tomorrow for everyone!

Re: w/c 1st october
Greetings ABerooos,
yes, peace and the human-embrace are needed indeed. There is still so much we don't know about this psycho but I'm sure
politicians are racing to plunk down their podium in the spotlight to come across as heroes and just 'do something'. Hotels should perhaps
have better security screening in larger cities.
doing inventory at work which is an incredible pain in the buttocks.... sore and tired but that's ok.
no Halloweeners in my neck of the woods either. And i just don't feel right giving kids the gift of diabetes. I'd give out apples and
they'd probably egg my house LOL. oh well.

Re: w/c 1st october
morning all ...how are we today then?good I hope ...well finally got the cruise control fitted to the van ..was reading a story about a guy in America,he had an rv...and one a pretty big compensation case not so long back ..he read the rv manual and on the section on cruise control..it says ...flick it on and let the control take over ...it will drive itself..he did such ,,and went to make a cup of coffee...obviously crashed toppled the vehicle and got hooge claim..Pandas bloods came back ..slightly anaemic with slight liver issues but not a lot to worry about ...oh really ????so she is getting antibiotics now and bloods repeated in 10 days
so lets have a brew.
hi det ...no trick or treaters here mate..boiled cabbage sweets or laxative chocolate...! actually not a bad trade that ...apples for eggs...
hiya Lav....on the nail..when does a person of sound and fit mind who owns weapons become a danger to themselves and others ...and then that opens more doors ...determining those who on the hoof decide its time to use those weapons and those who have planned and calculated..it is a minefield of assessment..plus a persons mental state can change almost immediately
your words I am a happier camper....really ? :goodjob: brew time approacheth so here you go and have a good one..
hiya pauly ..how are you today then?glad you liked the little verse I did .how are things there?are you anywhere near where it all happened? keep safe x

Mae everybody,Mick glad you got your cruise control fitted now that they've identified most of the victims they're showing their pictures on the news,it's sad most are young professionals Lav,ugh I wouldn't want to see even a glimpse of DT,after seeing him in Puerto Rico throwing rolls of paper towels into the crowd on the news, bleh,he just makes me sick, much love to all and wishes for a nice AF WednesdayI have too much shit to do today and tomorrow to drink:sohappy:

Re: w/c 1st october
MAE ALL....
Spent the last 2 days on the couch but heading into work today. I will try and catch up on the thread and post more later....:smile:PPQP
Lav...I like our gun laws in Canada. You couldn't pay me to go see old 45.
Det...inventory is a dirty job but it's got to be done. No trick or treater's at my place either and I'm good with that.
Mick...really, he thought it would actually drive itself! Did he win the claim because that's what it said in the manual? At least Panda's on antibiotics and I hope the blood work is positive. So you're all set for the next excursion. There's still a bit of snow around but it's going up to 68F on Friday, just in time for the long weekend.
Pauly...missed the paper towel throwing by DT, what an ass. Do you get lots of kids at Halloween?
Planning on an early night, I can use it. Talked to the boss about my job description and salary today. He agrees that I'm not getting paid enough for what I do and he asked how much I wanted. I asked for a $10,000.00 raise so we will see what happens. Hope we all have a peaceful night....:smile:PPQPLast edited by porqoui; October 4, 2017, 07:38 PM.

Re: w/c 1st october
Good evening Abbers,
Had a nice day here today!
Took YB to Longwood Gardens for a while & out to dinner for his birthday. Our daughter & her family went to dinner too so it was nice.
PQ, a 10K raise sounds nice & likely very useful so I hope they come thru for you
Pauly, one of the victims was from PA, a father & little league coach. He & his wife were there celebrating their wedding anniversary. So sad
Mick, I wonder how a rabbit becomes anemic? Not enough spinach?
My brother-in-law crashed into a serious depression when his 18 year old son was killed in a road accident (his own fault). He spent the following 11 years threatening to kill himself but also being treated by professionals & medicated off & on. I think the thing that really drove his to commit the act in the end was a massive load of alcohol in his system which obviously made his depression all the worse. I know YB talked to his brother several times about the guns as well as our other neighbor who also is a former cop. But in the end, people will do what they want to do, they will find a way. Sad.
Det, I've seen some nice looking packaged popcorn treats in the stores recently. I think if I had kids coming to the door I would be handing out popcorn
I hope you sore hands are OK.
Hello to the rest of the crew & wishing everyone a nice night!

Re: w/c 1st october
Ahoy ho ABerooskies near and far,
Lav, you've jogged my memory and we used to make "popcorn balls" for halloween back in the 70's.
of course I was a kiddo at the time, but they were flavored with maple syrup and honey and other fairly
natural things. hmmmm.
PPQ I hope you get the good word from the boss. that's great.
well I got my musical instrument in today...a Korg Kaossilator pro which is a synth/sampler. it's the weirdest musical
instrument I could find so naturally it appealed to me. Now baffling my way though the bloody thing... it's far smarter than I am.
anyhoo, if I come up with any musically acceptable 'sounds' I'll load a link. in the meantime my head is in the instruction manual.
Mick, I hope yer joking on the cruise control issue?
anyhooo... I'm one tired puppy and gottta get ready for another 'amazing' day of inventory counting. yeeee har
