    Re: Optimistic October

    Just lost a post.

Thanks everyone for your affirmations. I read too much, lol.
Snoop, DIY can be very rewarding, good luck on the bathroom.
Pauly, I hope you get thru this difficult time.
TG, do you live in Jersey? You seem to get to Manhattan very easily. That's a very interesting experience you had after 9/11. I can only imagine the chaos that was post 9/11.
Lav, I dunno, these darned kids! My daughter and SIL are helicopter parents and are so intense. They do put restrictions on our visits, but we have a good visit anyway. Yes, fall is a wonderful season but I do miss the tree colours of Canada. We lived in Toronto but had a weekend home north of the city and our drives up there were always, "look at that", "did you see that?", "Wow, that is gorgeous". The smell of fireplaces burning was another fall event.
Today will be AT&T's 4th attempt to install the darned thing.
It's going to be a nice day.

      Re: Optimistic October

      Evening all -

SK, you can call me TG or Cyn, sometimes around here we use our old 'pre- revamped website' names, it keeps everybody guessing. No I'm not in Jersey, I'm north of the city. Door to door the transit is about 3 hours, give or take. I live at the end of the line of one of the MetroNorth trains. I see you are "west of Seattle" --- doesn't that put you in the Ocean? Ha! I hope you feel better... I know well how hard the news is. Like Lav, I use the Countable app, and the Daily Action texts are great - they make it easy to make a statement. You can find them on FB, I think.

Star, so glad you had a good 'kid' time! Good luck with those closets, and congrats on the new bathroom, that is exciting.

Pauly, you sound like life is busy --- I hope you are feeling better. I think change of seasons is a little tough all the way around...

Lav, sorry for you and all the allergies. I can't imagine all the dust raised at harvest time! I think having just one child is a great idea. I'm sure your bright little grandchild will find her way in the world just fine. And congrats to your daughter on doing the Girl Scout thing! RE: activism. I saw some great looking postcards on FB I think - a variety pack of special interest messages. I think I might get them and host some postcard-writing parties once a month. No one will come to a meeting, but for coffee and treats and companionship, maybe. I'm tired of not having human contact in the light of all these things going on... tired of screens...

Well, off to do some work on business tonight. My morning client moved to the afternoon, so I might be able to get a few more things done outside if I get other stuff done tonight.

Wishing all a great AF Thursday.

        Re: Optimistic October

        Evening greetings friends,

'Twas a nice Hump day here in SE PA, ha ha! Clear skies, cool temp, perfect
Don't know if anyone saw on the news but there was a workplace shooting in Edgewood, MD today about 45 min. from here
Three people were killed. several more wounded critically. The shooter then drove north to Wilmington, DE & killed someone else. He was just arrested by the Feds in Newark, DE about 20 min. from here. Geez, how do people get so damn crazy?

Has anyone heard about the painted rocks? It's a trend about a year old or so where you leave a pretty painted rock somewhere for anyone to find & pick up. You add your original location on the back of the rock & then the finder leaves it somewhere else for another person to find. It's a fun thing to do & a nice way to get kids engaged as well. My daughter found a rock Monday while we were at the outlets. Someone left it leaning against a tree in a parking lot. The rock started it's journey in Blair County, PA which is out near Pittsburgh. No my daughter is going to leave it near Philadelphia. Funny how a small rock can travel. Then, believe it or not she found a second rock when we stopped at a Turkey Hill store for coffee for the drive home. She left that one there for someone else to find.
It's amazing how little things like Kindness Rocks can brighten your day!

Star, glad you're having better days!
45 is a complete a$$hole, insulting widows of fallen soldiers. He really, really needs a psych assessment.

Pauly, hope you had a good Hump day!

SK, the reason I haven't seen my grandsons recently is because my daughter-in-law went off the deep end a year ago. I cannot go over to their house which is only 7 miles away. I have to wait for my son to bring the kids over here, ridiculous. I have seen more of my granddaughter this past year & she lives an hour away. All of the kids are in school full time, all belong to scouts & have other activities too so they are limited on time. I just need to stop complaining I guess.
I sure hope AT&T gets their sh*t together for you today

Cyn, you should see the dust on my car & it's all the farmers fault, ha ha!! Nope, not washing my car for another few weeks until they are done.
My daughter enjoys her daisy scouts - all 24 of them!!!! I was a co-leader for my daughter's girl scout troop until they grew so 'old' they didn't want anyone to know they were girl scouts. We had 17 in that troop & I thought that was a lot. My daughter was not happy when she looked into scouting for the young ones & found there was no established troop. She contacted the GS Council & was told she could start a troop. That's what she sat & did last year while she was recovering from her foot fractures & surgery. Thank goodness for the internet & a cell phone.
I hope you got some outside time today - it was really nice!

        Have a nice night everyone!

            Re: Optimistic October

            Hi all -

Lav, still so sorry about your grand boys -- but I guess their days are now filling up with a lot of stuff. They have such great ties to you forged in those early years, that will never go away. Good luck with the dust! I did a little bit of outside work, but mainly took the dog walking first thing. The other day when I had a 9AM appt, I took my pup early to a four corners place near here, an it was wonderful - up high, so it got the early sun. The breeze was cool, but the sun was warm... and it is always calming to see the horizon and hear the birds. We went there again this morning. Scary about the shooter so close to your home. What a nice balance to hear the story of the rock... I hadn't heard about those!

Star, how did the bathroom project turn out? I hope you are doing OK in your heart/head. Hang in there...

Pauly, what's up, girl? I hope you have been having nice and calm days.

SK - I hope ATT came though for you --

If anyone is feeling politically active, here's a great reason to call your rep: let them know how you feel about them supporting the bill that is proposing that the Pres cannot make a preemptive nuclear strike without congress' consent, now is the time to call! . Even if the bill doesn't go anywhere, the calls will be tallied. Just google HR 669 and S200, those are the bills.

I'm pooped from a day of work... will rest a bit and then get my evening work going. Wishing all a good night and a good start to Friday.

              Good evening friends,

Had another nice day here which is really nice, ha ha!
Went & met my old work friends for lunch, always enjoy time with them

Star, you sound busy. Hope your project is going well!

              Hello to Pauly & SK.

Cyn, I'm glad you enjoy time out with your doggie. I am kind of stupid in the mornings but I do enjoy being outside for the sunsets. We get a spectacular view of the setting sun here.
The Kindness Rocks are the cutest things. My daughter has even had her little Daisy scouts involved in rock painting
Spreading a little happiness is more important than ever these days, don't you think?
I don't know how many petitions I've signed today. I just keep getting emails & text messages & they're all important too. I'll keep plugging away until something in this country gives
That guy who did the workplace shooting yesterday apparently has quite a long arrest record & was actually convicted & sentenced on another shooting but his jail time was commuted after a year & a half - for some reason, WTH?? He never should have been out walking around in public, geez.

Well, tomorrow is Friday already, don't know where this week went.
Wishing a nice night for everyone!

                Good morning all...

Lots of exercise planned today and the bathroom drywaller will be back this afternoon. The project hit a problem, so this will go on for another month. Big mistake to use this company, but nothing I can do now.

Lav, glad you had fun with your work friends. The weather is gorgeous here too. Enjoy.

Cyn, sounded like a beautiful walk with your dog. Staying busy and useful is good for the soul.

Pauly, hello, hope you are good.

                Have a great Friday, AF.

                    Greetings kids

We had another lovely day here, yay!
We spent the morning running around gathering things including a 3 lb box of mushrooms which turned into a big pot of soup - yum!

Star, sorry about your bathroom project. I hope the bathroom is at least usable while you wait.
Loved the pic of your grandsons, they look so happy. In a few years they will be fighting if they are anything like mine, Lol

Pauly, I hope your day was a good one!

Hello to Cyn, probably working & hopefully enjoying this weather

The Kindness Rock project is here if you want to look:

                      Evening all -

Star, aaaaargh, a snag?! In a bathroom!? So sorry. Hang in there, I'm sure this is a Bump in the Road. Glad that you are enjoying exercising and keeping it all going. Good for you!

Lav, you really made me laugh with the 'kinda stupid in the morning" comment! Me too! I am challenging myself to get out the door on the mornings when I don't have a client, just so I learn to always get my rear in gear. The bright sunshine on that particular corner is really like a shot in the arm. I didn't do it this morning - took the opportunity of a cancellation to do the dog laundry and some rugs in the house - stair treads that just seem to smell like dust when I walk up the stairs... not an inspiring place, the laundromat, but at least some of that project got done before my afternoon work.

Pauly, what's up? I hope your workday tomorrow goes OK. I heard that tonight's new season opener of Walking Dead (is that right?) is also its 100th episode. Have you seen them all? I wonder if Dill is still watching...

Cooking tonight so I can take food with me to NYC tomorrow. Returning on Monday morning. Didn't I just get home from there? Revolving door... My poor pooch, I think he is over this idea of me being gone weekends. He loves his sitters, but without his Sissy here, I think he gets lonely. I have to find some more ways to socialize him, what a sweet patient boy he is. Lav, are you thinking of Maxie a lot? I still often think about/talk to Sashie... ah well, we were lucky to have such great pets

I will try to check in on my travels... wishing all a lovely AF Friday night.

                        Good morning...

Cyn, love that idea of the kindness rock project, I would love to paint rocks and place them around my community. What fun. Yes, the bathroom problem will go on for a month and I am just over it. We have another bathroom and I am not having Thanksgiving, as of now, so we will just have to see. Nothing I can do about it. The workman came over yesterday to sand, then said it was not dry, so will try again Monday. We had to order a new counter top as they broke the sink, said it was already cracked, but we had had no problem, so another thousand dollars. This is not going well, but I have to see it through. Have fun in the city this weekend. I get feeling guilty leaving your pet on weekends, I always feel guilty leaving my cat alone, but have to from time to time.

Lav, thanks for the OK on my grandsons, they are sooo cute and I know they will wrestle with each other, the little one already watches his bigger brother when he is rough housing with his Dad. What a blessing they are to my husband and I. Those mushrooms looked really good, when it cools off next week I am making a big pot of soup myself. Yum. I decided to cook out last night and had steaks for the first time in months, it was good. Cooking out again tonight, then won't for a long time as fall is really supposed to arrive, and I hope it does, I am ready for some cooler weather.

Pauly, hope you are doing well. Any plans for the weekend?

                        Have a good one.

                            Good evening friends,

We had another nice Fall type day today, feel lucky!

Cyn, all that traveling would get on my nerves, no kidding, ha ha! You must have the patience of a saint (I know I surely do not).
I have been 'morning stupid' all of my life for no special reason. Many, many years ago I bought our first coffee maker with timer that turned it on & had the coffee ready when I got to the kitchen. It was a miracle, LOL It takes me longer to come back to life than it should but what can you do? I'm just grateful I don't have to be up & out of the house by 6:15 am anymore. That was always so difficult in the dead of winter, ugh.
I do think about Maxie quite a bit. I find myself looking for her in certain spots around the house & outside. I just hope she's having fun on the other side, yours too Have a safe trip to NYC.

Star, those mushrooms cook way down of course but you do end up with a good sized pot of soup. I can eat soup every single day as long as it isn't hot out.
Glad you enjoyed cooking out, we just haven't done much of that lately.
I hope I get a chance to see the boys before the weekend is over, it's been quite a while.

Pauly, sounds like Michelle needs to dump that guy. Why so much drama, what's it worth?
I hate seeing young folks put themselves through all that unnecessary nonsense. I hope you found some peace today.

I hope everyone has a nice night Wish I could stay up past midnight to look for meteors but probably not.
                            Lav

                              Hello, everyone.

Star, I hope the finished product looks better, eek!

I am salivating at the thought of mushroom soup. When we built our home in WA state there was a lovely area where only trillium and chanterelles grew. When I picked them I took a soft paint brush and brushed their spores back into the soil. Sauteed them and seasoned and vacuum packed for freezer. BTW the poisonous chanterelle looks pretty much like the real deal. One of my favorite breakfasts was sauteed mushrooms (any kind) with s & p. A suggestion of nutmeg from a whole nutmeg and a dash of real cream, Put on toast and add egg on top. The creaminess of the egg on the mushrooms is sublime.

I have relocated from WA state:sad: to TX for grandaughter thinks I hang the moon. My husband had an affair with my girlfriend, they broke up, DH wanted me back:exclaim: Sold the house and he went to Detroit with his son where he died. I am here in TX, where you have to look for places of beauty and excessive heat. There is no decibel limit for mufflers and the mustang club races often while I hold my breath waiting for a crash.

Yes, we were in western washington, (Hoh Rain Forest) and when we went to the Makah Reservation (Neah Bay) it was the last land until Japan. It was too darned wet there nr. Forks and it was the place where they filmed the first Twilight.

Lav, I was surprised after relocating at DD's request that I don't know who she is! Helicopter parenting is an understatement. She is not allowed to ride in my car nor have an overnight stay. Since Vivian was about 3 and always in the bath she would ask me silly questions as in pointing to Peggy's behind asking "what's that?" I used to put my hand over my mouth to stifle the giggles and that made her howl. Other subjects were included as time went on so she used to associate me with happiness and called me "smiley nana".

Last week I bought a Thai bell for the fairy garden and I explained to her that a long time ago rich people would ring the bell for their servants
so I offered up a scene of her ringing the bell and asking for tea when daddy arrived. So this week I asked her what happened and she gave me a hard look and said that was very rude. I think DD is sometimes jealous of our time together, or who knows. I guess I don't hang the moon anymore.

                              I'm tired. Goodnite.

                                Good morning...

Lav, another beautiful day for us too. Up at 6:30 am and it is dark as night. I am ready for the time change. Weather change tonight into tomorrow, high 50s and rainy, so that will be really a cool off. I made a lentil soup last week and it was soooo good, may make some more today as I have the ingredients, then mushroom soup tomorrow. Hope you get to see your grandsons, I miss mine if I don't see them every week.

Pauly so sorry that Michelle is having more drama, especially being out of town. It is puzzling as to reasons to stay in unhappy relationships, but I know change is hard and scary. We all want peace and stability for our kids. I was worried about my son this week as he complained about work and had a hard time getting it off my mind and sleeping. I get it.

Cyn, hope you are having fun in the city.

Skendall, wow, much drama for your in the last few years. The ultimate betrayal with your husband and friend, that would be a hard one. I tiptoed around my daughter and first grandson, always did exactly what she suggested, and now she trusts me. It was alot of work, not like I ever did anything bad when she was growing up, but she just wanted things her way. Still, from time to time she will say, you can't have him this week, then will change her mind. I try to go with the flow. It must be kind of hard to move to an entirely different area, have you made any friends and are you involved with any social activities? I am struggling since I quit my job in April, the gym is my daily activity. The bathroom remodel is a pain in the neck, very annoying.

Well, work out today then we'll see what else will happen, besides lots of football, of course. Have a good one.
