Bodies are so confusing,I feel like we did our part by suffering thru periods and childbirth and we should get a break as we get older,,not feeling worse! Wishes for a great AF Friday

Star, glad you are enjoying this Christmas season. Do you think the grandkids improve the season? I know I do. Mushroom soup sounds really good. I miss the chanterelles that used to grow on our property.

Pauly, you make me smile, you really do.

Hi today 47. OK, got a call from the Honda dealership this a.m. they can't find the problem! He told me it was probably a bad battery (4?) they want to keep it a while longer and then I will trade it in. I have a subaru forester in mind and a low mileage Lexus. I've owned both cars before, but the most comfortable one was the Lexus, but it has a running board, so I would have to lift Peggy in. The subaru is also a very reliable car. Never buy a Honda again. I know they spell reliability but when a dealership can't find the problem with their own cars, pfft.

      Lav, how are you doing?

Lav,now I know what you mean by the dust on artificial trees triggering allergies, went to goodwill just to browse and they had some nice artificial wreaths,I went to move them and while they didn't seem dusty at all I started sneezing like crazy! Went to Babies R Us and got the onesie I wanted with the toenails yay, then did the unthinkable and bought Louie some Lego's for Christmas, not the regular sized ones though, these are more medium sized,he'll love them I'll just make sure he picks them up

          Re: Dazzling December

          Greetings friends,

BREAKING NEW: No hot flashes last night!!! Ha ha!!
Why? I have no idea. I didn't do anything different yesterday.....no rhyme or reason for this stuff. Just trying to be grateful when I have a peaceful night

SK, your car dilemma is really crazy! I know how frustrating it is, have been thru it too. We bought a brand new limited edition VW Sunbug back in 19741 It was gold colored & had a sunroof, very cool looking. The only problem was it didn't want to start - ever! Took it back to the dealership repeatedly 7 they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it either. They finally decided that we ruined the gas tank with a load of 'dirty gas'. Now that was back when we were going thru the oil embargo & gas was being rationed. We somehow or another traded it in & bought a used Ford station wagon which lasted for years, go figure.
I did actually try black cohosh many years ago & it didn't help me at all, so I went on the HRT. Like I mentioned before, I was a serious basket case
Wonderful that your neighbor invited you for Christmas, very nice

Star, I've been invited to join a few book clubs but kindly said no because they were always excuses to sit & drink. I wasn't interested & that was way before I ever developed a problem, honestly. It just sounded dumb to me. I hope you enjoyed your mushroom soup, mine was good yesterday.
Snow is due here during the overnight hours, oh boy!

Pauly, see? I wasn't kidding about the dust thing. I have always been sensitive to dust, gets me every time.
I have Legos of all sizes around here, they're good for the kids, sparks creativity My grandson has tons of fun building things with a big box of flats sticks (not sure what they are called). My old neighbor gave them to me years ago, her grandsons used them when they were little. I'd rather spend a few minutes cleaning up legos than see a kid staring at a TV or computer for hours.

Cyn, I guess you are in line for some of this snow too? I'll be happy to send it right up your way!
I hoped you are snugged in & staying warm. We have the fireplace blazing in the living room & the woodstove warming up the basement level where my shop is. I think i'm going to have some very surprised chickens in the morning. Most of them have never seen snow before, ha ha!

          Have a nice night everyone!
          Lav
I think I have all the shopping done, just need to pick up a gift card or two.

            Hi all -

Just a quick one to say hello and thanks a lot for your updates. I started in with a client this morning and didn't stop until I came in the door at 7 PM. I did get a quick break for lunch and ran the dog around so that he would get a break before the snow comes tomorrow. I had hoped to control a few more of the leaf piles before the snow, but oh well.

Really to tired to think right now - please know that I am sending lots of light and warmth to all - stay safe and well ---

              Good morning...

Pauly, great you got the cute pajamas for the new baby, everything in the stores is going fast, got to get the stuff now. Went yesterday and bought wrapping paper and tape, will wrap today, tonight ad tomorrow. I want to get it done. Looking forward to shopping with my son today, I hope it goes smoothly. You just never know with him. He was in a good mood last night when we talked on the phone, he sent me pics of his Christmas tree he put up by himself. It looked nice and put him in a holiday mood. Me too. I love the lights. It has been so dark here.

Lav, I love a good book club discussion, don't think they are dumb at all. I don't drink the wine offered, and no one has more than two glasses, so alcohol is not a problem. I learned alot from some of the books we read already, things I never would have chosen to read, so enjoyed that piece of it. Plus, I am trying to get out a bit, meet people as I am not working professionally. My frenemy called me last night and we had a nice talk. We just get along better if we keep it less intense. She is super busy and I am not, she is starting to accept the way things are I think. It is really cold here, teens, and I wore my heavy winter coat, nice to have it. Snow was expected today but so far, nothing on the ground. The news people kind of go overboard. I made a really good minestrone soup that has tasted better the second third day. No oil, no fats, just veggies, beans, broth and spices. Really good and healthy. What are you making this weekend?

Skendall, yes I know the grandkids make everything so fun, we just have a small window when they are little, so important to enjoy and get those memories and the relationship deep, for them and for us. I am glad you are going to get a different car, it will be a relief to you to have something reliable.

Cyn, lucky you to have another client. Are you helping them move? Very interesting career, helping people into a new phase of life with moving. Hope you get a little time to listen to Christmas carols and immerse yourself in the holiday. I read my favorite Christmas book yesterday, it was my Mom's, Starbright by Andrew Greeley. Such a lovely story.

Very grateful to be AF at this time of year, feeling healthy, sleeping relatively well, able to create good memories. Have a good AF Saturday.

                  Re: Dazzling December

                  Good evening friends,

I ended up with the boys here again for dinner, that's two weekends in a row. Still haven't seen or heard from their mother of course.

Cyn, our snow was supposed to start overnight but it held off & started around 9 or 10 this morning AND it's still snowing at 9 pm, geez. I think the total will be quite a bit more than they expected. I hope you are relaxing now, giving yourself a break

Star, sorry about the book club remark I made. It's just the two that I attended way back in the early 80's were just drink-a-thons, honestly & I just wasn't interested. No one read the books, don't think they even pretended to read them either, ha ha!
Glad you are finding recipes you like. I can't claim to be cooking healthy this weekend due to having dinner company tonight & my daughter & her family coming tomorrow. I'll get back to my favs on Monday, for sure.

Pauly, I hope you had a good day!

SK, would you like some snow to put you in the Christmas mood? I think we will have plenty to spare & share

My chickens saw the first flake of snow falling & refused to step foot outside - just as I figured. Chickens are chicken, no kidding!
                  Have a nice night everyone!

                    Re: Dazzling December

                    Good morning....

Slept well last night. We went to the movies, saw Murder on the Orient Express, the theater had all recliner seats, very comfortable, the movie was good. I liked the photography of the big panoramic scenery on the big screen.

Lav, great you had your grandsons again this weekend. Your DIL has made this into something bigger than it has to be by not showing up, ever. Geez, what a drama queen. Great you are keeping cool and steady throughout this ordeal. Re: book club. I was also surprised by the not book reading. What? I guess I am just an old rule follower. If I have six weeks to read a book, I'll read it. I wouldn't think of not reading it. So next year I am going to join one from our local library, just a few minutes away. I am sure there is no drinking at the library, right? And maybe they read the book? You never know though. My son and I had a good shopping trip, then went out for Mexican food and it was very good. So, today, wrapping up a storm.

Pauly, sounds like you were busy yesterday, hope everything went well.

Hello to Cyn and Skendall. Have a lovely peaceful AF Sunday.

                      Morning all -
Sorry to be away yesterday - it was a real struggle, I was cranky and weepy and in pain. Ran outside in the morning, moved the remaining things off of the deck and into the screen porch, raked leaves away from the driveways and corners, off the front garden, bagged the ends of the lawn stuf. It was snowing pretty hard when I finished - too slippery to take all the junk to the transfer station, oh well! We ended up with 6-7 inches, at least.

I just couldn't get my spirits to lift - just too tired I guess. Star, these clients are from last year, I moved them and they've needed lots of help since. I am organizing and storing another 1600 cd's of the husband. Maybe it was the hours bent over, or lugging a couple of boxes of cds that messed up my back and neck, who knows. I think I need to go back to acupuncture- I remember one practitioner who would work on the Liver meridian when I was cranky! I could have used that yesterday...

Going to finish my book proposal today- a big step. Then work on the letter to prospective agents. It's time to move this thing along.

More tonight. Wishing all a safe and sane and good-humored day!

                          Good evening friends,

Still chilly here but most of the snow has melted off, yay! It's just too early in the season to have snow hanging around for me.
Daughter & family left about a half hour ago, had a nice visit & dinner & made plans for Christmas eve. I'm scaling down all the cooking & baking - just because
We are going to do sandwich fillings & salads, that sort of thing. They have requested a big pot of (turkey) meatballs & sausage - I can do that easily & pick up a small piece of ham so all the carnivores are happy, ha ha! I will come up with some vegan side dishes/salads too.

Star, glad you had a good trip out with your son & dinner too, sounds nice!
You're absolutely right, my DIL has turned into a major drama queen who apparently takes herself WAY too seriously. Compared to anyone else, at least in my eyes she's as average as the rest of us. We all have our challenges & hurdles, right?

Cyn, I really wish you could find some young high school kid to do that heavy work for you. I see people posting 'Help wanted' notices on bulletin boards in the local stores all the time. Come up with an ad offering a certain amount of cash for a Saturday morning's worth of work - bet you'll find someone.
In the meantime please take care of yourself, we need you to be happy & healthy
Getting your book ready for publishing sounds like a dram come true!

Pauly, that was the biggest sombrero I have ever seen, LOL
Glad you had a nice birthday celebration together, sounds like fun.

Have a nice & cozy night everyone. Hello to SK!

                            Good morning...

Pauly, looks like you had fun at the Mexican restaurant, it WAS a big sombrero, haha. I love Mexican food too, glad you enjoyed yourself and your family was all there too!

Lav, our snow melted or blew away too, it is still really cold here, but that is OK till Jan 1. So nice to have your Christmas Eve plans all ready to go, and I like the lighter menu, not sure what we are doing yet. I am driving over to my daughter's to see if the Christmas outfits fit the boys, and maybe a little shopping. Hope we can discuss food today. Maybe. Sometimes it is just wild over there. I made vegan spinach lasagna yesterday and FOK carrot cake so don't have to cook till at least Tuesday. Good call on my part. We wrapped alot yesterday too so got alot done and it feels good.

Cyn, I like the idea of hiring someone to do the yard work. Sounds like it is too much for you with all the other things you do for your job. There was a request on our neighborhood FB page asking for a teen to rake the leaves, so it is a common request. Please take care of yourself and set up time to rest a bit if you can. It seems like there is always a list of things to do. Sending you light and warmth.

Hello to Skendall. Hope thing are going well for you.

                            Have a great Monday.

Maybe jealous they can drink moderately, maybe I worry cuz its been 3 nights in a row, maybe I should just mind my own business, its just hard cuz when you're a problem drinker I think you try and diagnose everyone who drinks with that affliction, meh, need to get hubs,Brady and Kell's Christmas outta my hair then I'll be done! Morning all -

Lav, I'm glad that your DIL isn't around - hopefully that's less drama! Just so happy the boys are coming around more often.

Pauly, I've got to hop on FB and see that sombrero! I get your frustration with people drinking around you -- it's really unfair, I wish you didn't have to deal with it. You are being smart to remember - for whatever reason, we just CAN'T go there. Period. If you can, treat yourself to a nice candle or something just for you -- you deserve beautiful healthy things in your life!

Star, you are busy and family-happy, it sounds so good. Glad to hear all went well with your son; you have so been there for him, I hope that the good times stick around for awhile!

SK, how is the car search? I hope you are feeling OK these days - sciatica, such a difficult thing. Sending you light.

Yes, I see that I have to hire some land help... I just don't have the time now to devote to keeping it all together and working ahead of the weather. We already pay big bucks to have the leaves taken away professionally - we have lots of mature oak trees with a shocking smount of leaves, and they drop late, in fact they are still dropping on top of the snow (it's not going away). What I dealt with was the stuff from the gutter guy who came and did the far, highup gutters, and the stuff in the flower gardens up next to the house - it just turned out to be a lot, and of course I was beRating myself for not getting the gardens 'put to bed'. So, I will seek out a helper, just like I see that I must do that for my business... I need my 'people'! I didn't finish the book Proposal yesterday, though I worked most of the day. I'm trying this morning to finish it up before our 11 AM group checkin call... crossing fingers that my brain is working this morning!

Wishing all a good day Monday start to the week ---
