    Re: Joyous January

Afternoon everyone, weather still cold, but sunny.

Pauly, glad you are feeling better, I think you may have a couple of food allergies. I feel nauseous sometimes after strong coffee.

Lav,glad you got better sleep. It should be fun having the boys over like old times.

Cyn, pear shaped as in going south or things dropping to the bottom.

Star, what a great day you had, from both an exercise and a spiritutal point of view. I am a great believer in yoga and practiced it daily, until I couldn't.

Saw my GP at 7:30 last night and my bp was 149/90! I'm usually 100/70 or lower, so maybe pain does raise the bp, and she gave me an RX for Tylenol 4, steroids and muscle relaxants. Took it to my pharmacy and they told me they couldn't fill it as it was too close to closing. Rushed up to Wahlgren's and got it filled. It doesn't eliminate the pain, but certainly takes the edge off.

Anyway dr's appt. in a little bit, so have a great afternoon.

      Re: Joyous January

      Good evening friends,

I am beat but the day went as well as possible.
I got the boys dropped off at their schools on time, it was pouring rain too. Having the Insanity Twins (dogs) here is not really a problem but their newer dog is a chocolate lab, only about 6-7 months old & boy is he ever a handful!!! He was picked up about an hour ago & is now on the way to NJ for the weekend, Lol
The twins are staying with me until Sunday evening, that's OK.
I watched the entire funeral service on my iPad, one of the Philly TV stations decided to stream it live. Oh boy, that was a packed cathedral celebrating the life of the fallen hero, so sad.

Star, your weather is on the way here I'm afraid but what can you do? Glad you enjoyed your conference, sounds good.
let me know about that gravy recipe, sounds interesting.

Cyn, I think I'm going to like this EO rollon - 'Dr Angela's Hormone Balance Essential Oil Blend Therapeutic Grade Aromatherapy. I found it on Amazon.
I have to remember to use it 4X/day to get started so I'm carrying it in my pocket right now It smells wonderful & I get an immediate feeling of calm which is nice. I really hope it does balance out the hormones for hot flash relief.
I hope you pace yourself with everything you have to do, don't wear yourself out. Good luck with this next weather assault.

Pauly, glad you are a bit better today.
Docs very often induce 2d or 3rd babies when the due date is near & it's a good way to prevent the babies from growing too large for a 'comfortable' delivery. Try not to worry yourself, keep the faith

SK, I can't believe a pharmacy refused to fill your RX because it was close to closing time - that's awful. My grandfather & my FIL both owned & operated their own pharmacies & would have never done that! They used to get up in the middle of the night & open their stores for frantic mothers with violently ill kids - geez.
Glad you got your meds after all that. I know you won't get 100% relief but if they at least take the edge off. And yes, pain can/will elevate your B/P temporarily. I hope you are more comfortable now.

Ready to put my feet up & chill for a bit, phew!
      Wishing everyone a peaceful night.
      Lav

        Re: Joyous January

        Good morning...

Cyn, my Friday yoga class was taught by my favorite teacher who substituted. The roads yesterday morning were a sheet of ice, but some of us went to exercise and yoga anyways! Yoga and exercise helps me with pain in this cold damp weather as I really struggle. My husband is so sick, it is miserable to be around him, he is wheezing, deep cough, but insists he is fine. This has been going on for a week, he even went to the doctor for something else and the doctor told him to just fight it out. I think that is BS, but we'll see. I don't know how you work all the time with little time for you. Hope when your husband comes home it gives you a little break and you can do something fun.

Pauly, glad you are feeling better. I have not been sleeping well either, two mornings up at 4:30 am, that is way too early for me. I just get on the computer and make sure to get out to exercise for the 8:30 class. I don't blame you for wanting your second grandson's birth to be done, it is a very anxious time. My daughter handled it better the second time as she knew what to expect and so did the doctors. Still, it was tough and wonderful at the same time. Our you going to take time off and care for Louie? I remember doing that in the spring and it is a fond memory. The brothers love each other so much and I know your grandsons will be the same.

Skendall, hope you are doing OK and even better than OK.

Lav, crazy times with all the kids and doggies huh? Maybe a little time to relax today. After cleaning up and doing laundry of course. This time of year is really tough, more snow on Monday for us and now freezing cold weather again. Still have not used my instant pot, I think I am afraid of it now. haha.

        Have a good one.

          Re: Joyous January

Lav, the Chinese brown gravy recipe was way too salty, I did not like it. It was soy sauce, broth, cornstarch, garlic cloves, ginger heated till it thickened. But way too salty. So, I wonder if I had added water if it would have been less salty. Having said that the veggies and brown rice were good and filling, but not too filling. Today I am making Buddha bowls from the left over brown rice, spring mix lettuce, then will have black beans, avocado, tomato, red onion, cilantro, sunflower seeds and will make a balsamic reduction sauce, which is just cooking the balsamic vinegar down 75%. I also have some of that salty brown sauce left over. I was thinking of making the cashew sour cream too which is so easy: 1/2 cup soaked cashews, drained, lemon juice and 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar processed in a food processor till creamy. Hope this is not too much information, but right now I am into cooking and I know you are too and we have shared our interest for a long time. :happy2:

              Morning all -

Just a quick hello - I must be at my client's for a Salvation Army pickup this morning ( I hope --- their phone was out when I tried to confirm yesterday.)

SK, so glad you got you scrips filled - I hope the other doc appt goes well. Pauly, hang in there! Lav, same to you, glad to hear that the puppy moved on, enjoy the kids. Star, I am living vicariously from your recipes. No real time to cook right now, but I enjoy hearing about things. Good luck with the weather all, it is arriving here today, I hope to get home before the ice sets in... too windy and hilly around here for ice-driving.

I will try to check in later today.

              May we be well ---

                Re: Joyous January

                Good evening friends,

It was better today with just the Insanity Twins plus my animals. Honestly, a lab puppy is just too much for me at this point. If I ever decide to get another dog it will be a calm, house trained adult dog - for real! No one has taken time to teach him any social skills including putting his feet on my kitchen counter trying to snatch food, ugh.
Temp was near 60 yesterday, it's 25 now, going down to 13 but it's dry. Don't when we will see any precipitation.

Star, I have no choice, I have to buy reduced sodium veggie broth, no salt added canned tomatoes, etc. And I use Bragg's liquid aminos in place of soy sauce to get less salt.
I was a little afraid of the instant pot too so I started easy with a batch of brown rice, then beans, that sort of thing. I like the slow cooker feature & got the glass lid to use for that. I've made the cashew sour cream, it's good! Hope you liked your Buddha bowls

Pauly, think about ordering the EO rollon, it may help you, worth a try.
Glad plans are coming together for the new baby's arrival, yay!

Cyn, I always remember my mom saying 'when you need something done ask a busy person', ha ha! She used to watch me tripping over my own feet, running around trying to get everything done, haha! I hope you don't have to deal with a lot of ice, not sure what we're getting here.

Today is my brother's 70th birthday but I can't even wish him happy birthday. He's nasty & cut me out of his life years ago when I asked him to please stop his afternoon drunken phone calls & FB posting. Yeah, he has a problem. I've just been thinking for days that he has the privilege of turning 70 when our mom & brother didn't. Doesn't seem right.

Hello to SK, I hope you are comfortable tonight.

                Have a peaceful night everyone.

                  Re: Joyous January

                  Good evening.

I don't think I posted yesterday so time to catch up.
Lav, the fraternity of firefighters always do a quality send off, glad you got to see it.

There was an article in the NYTimes today about instant pots. I am a subscriber, but you can get 8 free articles free a month.

I decided to go see my spine dr. yesterday to take the hard copy of my records over to the pain centre. The chirpy receptionist told me that they had indeed been copied. I asked her what happened to them after that. She asked me if I had contacted the photocopying company. Wot?
Yes, we use a photocopying service for our copying. Who knew? and, where are the copies now? She didn't know and I have to go back next week. Sheesh.

I can honestly say I didn't sleep one wink last night, so lump me in with the rest of the insomniacs, It must be a moon phase or something. However, it was my fault because I had one of those giant hazelnut bars from Aldi (german chocolate). I was watching a movie and didn't realize I had eaten the whole darn thing. I mean I felt on a sugar/caffeine rush and it wasn't pleasant. So, the 10 g. of melatonin got me nowhere and I decided to just accept it and watch the sun rise.

I took Peggy out on a very cold morning and was served with a 3 day eviction notice? I marched up their PDQ and in doing their reports they said my check couldn't be located. Tough, I gave you the check on the 3rd. They wanted a copy of bank statement so luckily my bank opens Saturday, and there were ample funds in my account but my check was never deposited. When something like this happens it's easy to panic when names like eviction are mentioned and I found myself apologizing. Then it was whoa. They had not put my check into their monthly deposit and now they wanted me to run around for them. I walked back in and told them this was their problem, not mine and not to be loose with eviction notices. Then I flounced out flipping my hair not really it's one 1-1/2 inches long, lol.

Star, those buddha bowls sound very good. I went to a cooking school in France in the 80's and have a couple of those giant cook books describing techniques (Jacques Pepin). When we moved to WA state I had copious amounts of time on my hands, Mauviel copper pans and gadgets galore. So if you came to dinner it was a good meal decorated with tomato roses and silliness like that. That was a mistake because the other wives didn't think they could compete, so the dinner invitations only went one way. I did throw parties at Octoberfest , Christmas, etc. but I learned a lesson there.

I still love to cook, but I cook for myself so it isn't as much fun as it used to be.

Pauly, you must be excited. I hope Kells is okay and you sound a little nervous too.

                  Hiya Cyn.

I have to go back and find Det's pics.

                  See you tomorrow.

                    Re: Joyous January

                    Good morning...

Skendall, I hate when someone else loses something and then blames you, and puts the work on you. Geez, what a pain in the neck. Sorry you have all the hassles. I do love to cook and want to feel healthy, so I am enjoying coming up with new things to cook.

Lav, sad about your brother, but not your fault and good for you for setting boundaries. My sister-in-laws are the same, last call from them was drunk city and I called and left a message telling them not to call drunk anymore. Have not heard from them since, thank goodness. They always turn it around and blame me for some reason. Very sad for them. Instant pot this week and my daughter was using it yesterday so will hear about that later today.

Pauly, so excited for you and the new grandbaby, glad you are taking time off from work, what a special time for you and your family. I finally slept last night but took Benedryl and feel dried out today. I hated hot flashes, they are so uncomfortable. I dress in layers and on my bed have a lighter blanket and a heavier one that I have to use depending on how hot I feel. Not fun.

Cyn, hope your day went well, thanks for hearing about my cooking experiments.

Going to yoga this morning so need to get going. Have a good one.

                      Morning all -

Pauly, sounds like a good plan... I will be thinking of you and sending good vibes!

Lav, so sorry that there is a disconnect in your family... but good for you for setting boundaries. I went to the site for the hormone rollon, and it looks great! The trouble is, I feel like all of her products would be good for me! I wanted to order the whole boatload! She even has things for dogs? I like it. Thanks for doing the research.

SK, good gracious. Sounds like you need to smudge that apartment office and staff as well as your apartment! Good luck with medical records, I have always found that a nightmare. I hope today is smoother and less frustrating!

Star, so glad you are doing yoga - enjoy! I actually cooked ahead last night for a few days. HB comes home tomorrow, no has been staying in guest housing where they spoiled him - cooked for him all the time! Yikes, he's in for a hard fall when he comes home. I am determined to stick to the food that works for me, and also my eating timetable - dinner done and washing up finished by 5:30 or 6 so that I can work my evening shift. Also, I just get hungry by then anyway... we' ll see how that flies, lol.

Well I finally heard from Salvation Army yesterday just as i was about to go out the door... the driver was sick with the flu, and yes, their phone service as out. So I went to my client's and schlepped half of the stuff over to our transfer station so my client wouldn't have to trip over it before next Wednesday - the next day they will come all the way out into the country. I must clean house and go to the laundromat to wash the stinky dog beds before HB's arrival tomorrow, and I have a client this afternoon. Last night I did watch 2 episodes of "Crown", which was unusual for me -- my brain was fried!

Let's breathe today, and be grateful for the gift of sight, how amazing it is....

                                Greetings friends!

I am retriever breath free now, Ha Ha!!!
72 hrs with those two is enough. Glad the lab pup was only here for the first 24!!

Still very cold but no precipitation. Wonder where it went? Another day with not a single egg from my chickens. Talk about a winter break, geez.

SK, I am so sorry you still have some nasty karma raining down on you, geez.
I have never heard of a medical office sending things to an off site copy place, that's bizarre. Everything is done digitally these days, I really don't know what they're doing, sorry.
I worked night shift for several years so being up all night seems normal to me in a weird sort of way. As long as you an work in a nap or two during the day - but I know you really don't want to be up all night.
You're cooking skills must be awesome. You can carve rosettes for me anytime
Glad to hear you kicked some a$$ re your rent check, geez!!!!

Star, out of my 3 brothers the one I thought I was closest to is the one who treated me the worst. I really think his year in Vietnam screwed him up & set him on a path of life long depression & alcohol abuse. I tried for so long to try to talk him into getting some help but had to give up because he got so mean. I can't do anything to change the situation, it's pretty sad.
Glad you are enjoying experimenting with your instant pot, it's really unique!

Cyn, as busy as you are I hope your husband can make his return in a quiet way & not interrupt your schedule too much. If he's been spoiled he's just going to have to get unspoiled, ha ha!!! Men have it too easy, I swear
Good luck with your schedule & I hope you remember to take some time for you!
I think I am starting to notice a decrease in hot flashes after using this EO roll-on for several days - praise the Lord!!!!! I just may look at some of Dr Angela's other oils too

Pauly, we are all excited about the new baby & can't wait to hear the news. Keep us informed & good luck with Louie while you have him!

                                Have a pleasant night everyone!
