    3. President of the New York stock Exchange?

    4. Greatest wheat speculator?

    5. President of the Bank of International Settlement?

    6. The Great Bear of Wall Street?

These men were considered some of the worlds most successful of their days...

Now, 80 years later, the history book asks us, if we know what ultimately became of them...

    The Answers:

    1. The president of the largest steel company.
    Charles Schwab,
    died a pauper.

    2. The president of the largest gas company,
    Edward Hopson,

    went insane.

    Richard Whitney,

    was released from prison

    4. The greatest wheat speculator,

6 The Great Bear of Wall Street,
    Cosabee Livermore,

    also committed suicide

    However!!!

    in that same year,
    1923,
    the PGA Champion
and the winner of the most important
    golf tournament,
    the US Open,
    was

    Gene Sarazen.

    What became of him?

He played golf until he was 92,
died in 1999 at the age of 95.
    He was financially secure
at the time of his death.

    The Moral:

    Forget work...

    Play golf.

A lot of folks can't understand how we came to have an oil shortage here in our country. Well, there's a very simple answer. Nobody bothered to check the oil. We just didn't know we were getting low.

The reason for that is purely geographical. Our oil is located in Alaska, California, Oklahoma and Texas.

Our dipsticks are located in Washington D.C.

    Re: w/c 21st

    morning all,
thanks, Mick, for the kick off to another marvelous week in downtown somewhere, wherever each of us may be. Lav, looks like another purty day out there. Been 'veying along the last couple of days. Dang, I am so far behind, lost a couple of jobs due to being sick, can't be helped. Pi, you asked about my heat.... wood stove. Lav, propane is definitely an option. Our major problem is getting a truck up here. We have a bit of a rickety bridge.

working with my old survey partner today, he's adding more land to his place. We worked together for 25 years, then it all seemed to come to a crashing halt. It'll be good to get together again.

off to it friends. Hope each of you enjoys your Sunday (TT, Monday?)

Mae everybody,Mick, love the one liners I'm sure you'll find something to do today cuz I know you don't sit still,I think I'm gonna be lazy though, probably just grocery shop, visit Romeo and Lou then binge watch something,Sam,hope you get your heating situation settled,a lot of people in my hometown (not Vegas) have propane but it gets pretty expensive up there for some reason,it snowed so much yesterday that my mom couldn't get out of her driveway to get to work poor thing, she sent pics and her little car was covered! Dont miss that at all.much love to all and wishes for a happy AF Sunday

        MAE ALL...

Mick...sounds like more Loft work is in the picture. I have quite a few rabbits running around the condo units and during the Chinooks their ears turned brown. Noticed yesterday that they're back to white so I'm assuming more snow on the way. You gotta love the way animals predict the weather. Didn't join in the board games but they were sure having a blast, and no AL in sight! Need another brew before reading the one liners.

Sam...we had property in northern Alberta for awhile and used propane for heating and the price was quite reasonable. Perhaps it's time for the county to upgrade the bridge? I think it's great you're getting together with your survey partner, catch up time.

Pauly...sounds like a perfect day to me. Netflix is running a free trial so I might just check it out.

Shout out to the rest of the gang....:smile:PPQP

          Glorious Sunday ABerooos!

Mick, good to hear yer taking a wee breather on the couch.

Sam, glad yer better and getting caught up. Can be overwhelming for sure

PPQ, since dumping cable I'm a fan of netflix. All kinds of groovy things there.

martial arts delayed til this afternoon. At noon I'm joining a sober friend at a sports bar to support him as
he's in early sobriety too and wants some help while watching the game. I'm sports retarded so this will be interesting..
or not. At any rate will eat something with garlic and enjoy the chill-out.

well, my housing expenses are going to get better. Did some horse-trading with a buddy and picked up a 24 foot
travel trailer in nice shape. I can be a nomad now! and 400 bucks per month utilities included is waaaaaay better than the
financial beating I've been taking here.

that's the noooze for now. Back laterish.

          be well loves

              Greetings Abbers,

Mick, was that you in the middle doing all the splits & spins? Ha ha, that looked like a real blast & a great way to burn off some extra calories. I miss the days when I could move like that, for sure.
I’m sure you found something to keep yourself occupied today, you always do!

Sam, yep, another nice weather day although not as sunny as I prefer.
I hope you can figure out something reasonable for your heating situation. The oil & propane delivery trucks are heavy, that’s for sure!
I hope you enjoy your work timecwith your former partner

Det, sounds like you’ve found the perfect mini home, nice!
Helping someone else get/stay sober is truly a good thing for you as well as your friend.

Pauly, I’m never going to have any new grandbabies (so I am told) so I’ll be happy to hear everything about Romeo. Enjoy this time, they grow so fast.

PQ, so we’re both way above freezing for now? Great, isn’t it? Ha ha.
I’m starting to think about spring & I know it’s a long way off but still......

Hello to Pie & anyone else looking around.
              Have a nice night everyone!

Hi folks. How did the insulation go Mick? We had some put in our roof a few weeks ago and I just paid the bill today. Oouch! The roofers had to lift roofing for the insulation man to put it down. Certainly not a DIY.
Glad you have some relief Det.
No grandchildren for me either Lav but my daughter did stay the night and that was nice. I think she may see some of the benefits of home now that she is flatting. But of course she needs her own space and to be around young messy people. Haha
I actually slept last night properly So it can be done Pauly. Just not guaranteed.
How was your foray into Netflix PQ? I use it more to watch TV series rather than movies. There is some good stuff there. Its just finding what us to your taste.
Ok hi to everyone else - Pie, Sam and others. Have a great day

                      Greetings Abbers,

Lav had a nice lunch out with friends today ha ha!
The weather is still good but I hear rain & thunder storms are forecasted for tomorrow.
YB just had a fox walk alongside of him on the driveway. He went out to put something in the mailbox out front & the fox walked back to the house with him. Really? Now I don't know how safe I feel here let alone the chickens, geez That is such a weird thing!

Mick, you sound like you're having a fun day, I hated working with insulation, I remember getting little pieces of it stuck in my hands even though I wore gloves.
I hope you had better luck

Pauly, from one sleepless sister to another - don't worry. I have found that after a number of those sleep disturbed nights you will have one decent night to make up. I can't figure out what to do about it either.

TT, my daughter was so eager to go away to the university on the other side of our state. It was about a 4 hour drive. After the first semester she wanted to come home, she didn't like living there, ha ha. I made her finish out the first year then she transferred to a college near home & she never complained about living at home again. The young folks need to find out what it's like out there in the real world, don't they?

Hello to the rest of the crew & wishing everyone a nice night!

Mick...figured you were lofting it. Did you get the insulation finished?

Pauly...running late this morning were you?

TT...actually didn't end up on Netflix. LOL I have Shaw On Demand (free) and ended up watching some TV shows. Sometimes I can really get into the oldies. Did spend some time in the chat room, that was fun.

Well, another Monday and another frustrating day! Something was going on with the server, writing to the hard drive like crazy. Got on once to have a look at it but when I tried to get on again to reboot it wouldn't let me. I guess it knew it was Monday too. Got to pop the lasagna into the oven. Have a peaceful evening all....:smile:PPQP

X-Post Lav...glad you had an enjoyable lunch. I could have used one of those. LOL

The following is an ad from a real-life newspaper which appeared four days in a row - the last three hopelessly trying to correct the first day's mistake.

We regret having erred In R.D. Jones' ad yesterday. It should have read
"One sewing machine for sale cheap. Phone 948-0707 and ask for Mrs. Kelly, who lives with him after 7 P.M".

I have not been carrying on with Mrs. Kelly. Until yesterday she was my housekeeper but she quit!

The Allergists voted to scratch it, but the Dermatologists advised not to make any rash moves.

The Gastroenterologists had sort of a gut feeling about it, but the Neurologists thought the Administration had a lot of nerve.

The Obstetricians felt they were all labouring under a misconception.

Ophthalmologists considered the idea short sighted.

Pathologists yelled; "Over my dead body!" while the Paediatricians said, "Oh, Grow up!"

The Psychiatrists thought the whole idea was madness, while the radiologists could see right through it.

Surgeons decided to wash their hands of the whole thing. The Internists thought it was a bitter pill to swallow, and the Plastic Surgeons said, "This puts a whole new face on the matter...."

The Podiatrists thought it was a step forward, but the Urologists were pissed off at the whole idea.

The Anaesthesiologists thought the whole idea was a gas, and the Cardiologists didn't have the heart to say no.

In the end, the Proctologists won out, leaving the entire decision up to all the arseholes inCanberra.
