    Re: w/c 8th

    Good evening Abbers!

First of all Det! So glad you checked in, we were worried!!!!
I'm sorry I don't know what happened to cause you such pain. Please take care & stop back as soon as you can

Mick, yep, nice & sunny today but pretty windy. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 80 & Saturday may go over 80 then back for more stupid winter weather.
I guess your bunnies are used to the weather conditions. Looks like YB has just about finished the extension on the chicken yard, yay!!

PQ, kale is something that I have had to force myself to try over & over. When you buy it already chopped up in a bag & just toss a big handful into a pot of soup & let it overcook then it's just fine. The hot pepper flakes in that recipe hid any weird taste the kale may have produced.
Sorry you are dealing with ice & snow in the middle of April, geez

Pauly, do a Google search for native plants for your part of the country. Trying to grow anything else in those hot & dry conditions is probably a waste of time & money.
Be grateful for the time you had with your daughter, don't be sad. You have two little guys needing a happy grandma.

    Wishing everyone a nice night!

Jacob, age 92, and Rebecca, age 89, are living in Florida and are all excited about their decision to get married. They go for a stroll to discuss the wedding, and on the way they pass a drugstore. Jacob suggests that they go in.

Jacob addresses the man behind the counter:

      "Are you the owner"?

      The Pharmacist answers, "Yes".

Jacob: "We're about to get married. Do you sell heart medication"?

      Pharmacist: "Of course we do".

Jacob: "How about medicine for circulation"?

      Pharmacist: "All kinds".

      Jacob: "Medicine for rheumatism"?

      Pharmacist: "Definitely".

      Jacob: "How about suppositories"?

      Pharmacist: "You bet!"

Jacob: "Medicine for memory problems, arthritis and Alzheimer's"?

Pharmacist: "Yes. a large variety; the works".

Jacob: "What about vitamins, sleeping pills, Geritol, antidotes for Parkinson's disease"?

      Pharmacist: "Absolutely".

Jacob: "Everything for heartburn and indigestion"?

      Pharmacist: "We sure do".

Jacob: "You sell wheelchairs and walkers and canes"?

      Pharmacist: "All speeds and sizes".

      Jacob: "Adult diapers?

      Pharmacist: "Sure".

Jacob: "We'd like to use this store for our Bridal Registry".

She replied loudly, "Fuck you. You're having soup. I was talking to the cat."

Pauly, your dusty oven description of Vegas climate makes me smile. Trying to think of a cooking analogy for Houston; sticky steamer basket, maybe.

Mick, what is a half cottage? Google won't tell me.

          Hello to Sam, SK, TT...

I'm working on a condo sale , and taking care of 3 guest pups for the weekend. These 3 are here often, so adjustments with my own crew are minor. My tree is continuing to grow happily. May find it shivering in the morning though, because another blast from Canada is expected overnight.

Pi...that must be why we're having a heat wave this weekend, you got our weather. LOL Mick's half cottages are for his train layout. You really only have to build one side of them. Just how many is your own crew? Glad the visitors will fit right in.

Pauly...When I first read your post I thought you wrote his boss is American. Made me wonder what nationality your hubs was, then I reread it. LOL I can not believe the winter we've had. I've lived here all my life and don't remember one like this.

Mick...woke to a socked in sky and drizzle after a night of snow. Could have sworn someone picked us up and dropped us down in Vancouver BC. The clouds did clear, the sun came out and the melting began. With double digit temps this weekend hopefully a lot more of the snow will go. The cottages look great, well done. GM was present today and that's about it. It was a very calm and quiet day, no co-ord, only one renter in and I was able to catch up on all my work and my own pace. It was a nice way to end the week and boy am I looking forward to the weekend. Garden meeting was a success last night with new board members raring to go. It was just a long day for me.

Lav...I'm sure you'll be popping in shortly or are posting as I type.

Det...hope you're feeling better and the friends visit helped. Check back in when you can.

Quick stir fry for supper and then just relaxing. Hope we all have a restful evening....:smile:PPQP

              Good evening Abbers,

Friday the 13th turned out OK
Sunny & warm, did a lot of work outside & I think I have poison ivy sprouting out on my arm, ho hum.
We drove to a place in Maryland today & picked up a big load of freshly made compost. The stuff is made right on the site - owned & operated by veterans. They do a great job

Mick, your cottages look awesome. Pretty soon you'll have to name the city you're building.......Mick-ville maybe?
For now the bigger chicken yard is just for the 6 adult hens. As soon as the youngsters are big enough to defend themselves from any potential hen pecking/bitchiness I'll move them in there as well. They are 8 weeks old today so it's a bit too soon to blend the flocks.

So Pauly, your husband now has an Armenian accent? That's funny!!! We do pick up traits & tones from the people we spend the most time with
Hope your dust bowl is not too dusty!

PQ, you probably remember Kaslo who used to post here. I see her on FB everyday & see pictures of the weather they've had in BC, geez!
I think you all must have some very strong genes or something to tolerate winters like this one. Too much!!!
I hope your weekend is completely chill!

Det, we are thinking of you & hope you continue to recover.

Pie, enjoy your weekend doggy crew
Are you in the way of the tornado warnings like SK tonight? Be safe.

              Have a nice night everyone!

                Re: w/c 8th

Heya peeps from owie ville. Here's my new look from a few days ago:

although i knocked my ass out and my head really hurts, it's the broken ribs that REALLY freaking hurt.

No cool macho story... I simply fell backwards in the dark on my front porch and tumbled all down the concrete steps.

I'm in mad rush mode to get ready for garage sale next weekend so the timing of getting injured really blows, but I'm getting there.
I unloaded literally thousands of pounds of crap from the garage today I need to haul to the dump tomorrow. I'm so sore and tired but
at least I'm powering through it AF.

Mick, those cool models remind me of some i used to get from Germany as a kid. they were made out of thin cardboard and you cut it out, fold
                it etc. very nice.

Lav, I love kale saute'd at hi temp so it gets a bit toasty. and garlic of course.

Pauly, i'll be down there end of this month! hows the pollen going? heard it's horrid.

PPQ, garden meeting sounds like healthy fun.

Pie, good luck on the sale.

well, going to try to distract myself from the pain with a show or something.

                be well loves

                      MAE ALL...

Lav...one of the best things of the community garden is the compost we make. It is the richest soil I've ever seen. Now that the city has enforced organic recycling it'll help stop the neighbouring apartment building from throwing their kitchen waste in. We are very particular about what we compost to avoid and varmints moving in. LOL I think it's great that you can support the vets. At least in Calgary we can expect crappy winter weather but BC is not used to it. Hope Kaslo is coping with the armageddon of winter weather.

Det...a picture is worth a 1000 words. No wonder we haven't seen any words from you. It's painful just to look at that pic. I've never broken/cracked a rib but know it is one of the worst pains. I'm so pleased to hear this wasn't AL related, you've come so far. Make sure you have lots of help for your garage sale next weekend, you're going to need it. Hope you heal quickly.

Mick...off and running as usual. Hope you have a productive day and will check back later to see what you were up to.

Morning Pauly...you're probably at work by now. Heed Lav's advice and take the gratitude attitude, you have so much more loving to do.

Shout out to TT...been thinking of you.

Going to force myself to put work aside today and tackle the mundane chores of groceries, cleaning, laundry etc. Will definitely get some time in outdoors as they're forecasting more snow on Monday. Unbelievable! Have a Super Sober Saturday all....:smile:PPQP

Mick...sorry to hear the peskies aren't eating. The last thing you need is syringe feeding! You have been on the go this morning, sorry about the glasses, but hey it could be worse, you could have reported another nogging mishap so consider yourself lucky. LOL Keep up the good work, Julie appreciates it. LOL

Oy, Det! You look like one hurting camper! Hope you can protect your ribs until they heal.

Lav and PQ, I know squat about compost, but you two sure make it sound exciting.

Lav, several strong storms have moved through, but very quickly, so no lingering trouble.

PQ, I have 3 houndies. Combined weight is under 40 pounds, and all of the ones that I host are similarly small. Thanks for the half-cottage explanation.

Takes much love to manage that syringe feeding, Mick. Hope the peskies improve quickly.

Saturday night plans call for pan-seared scallops, steamed spinach, and lots of Netflix!

                                Greetings Abbers,

DET, you need a nurse! OMG, I am so sorry to hear about your fall & injuries. I hope someone taped your ribs for you. Please try not to over work yourself right now. I really wish we could give you a hand getting ready for your sale. Take care

Mick, what's up with the bunnies not eating? My animals could literally eat us out of house & home if I let them. I hope your furry friends feel better soon.
So when are you coming over to clean my house? Ha ha!

Pauly. hello to you again - I see you everywhere I go

PQ, we just had two days of decent sunny weather & now it's all going to turn to sh*t, Lol
2" of rain is coming for us on Monday & more cold temps. We don't get a break, do we?

Pie, glad you didn't get the tornado, storms are bad enough.
Compost will feed your veggie & flower gardens like nothing you have ever seen - awesome stuff, especially when it's made fresh & has no chemicals added.
Your dinner sounds good, I made a veggie lo mein tonight that hit the spot!

YB got the chicken yard finished up today so the girls had fun exploring new places without the fear of being dragged off to the fox den for dinner. Screw those foxes, they'll just have to go to KFC from now on, LOL
                                Wishing everyone a nice night!
