      MAE ALL....

Lav...my hesitation is to cook up a batch of something with lentils and then not like it. But I have a plan! One of my co-workers is in to all that type of food and I'm going to ask her to share her next lentil dish so I can at least try it. I'll let you know the outcome.

Mick...sounds like you've got quite the project to tackle. Keeping the neighbours happy is always a good plan. You should be good as far as weather is concerned, looks like we'll be taking over your rain for a couple of days. We may even get a thunderstorm :yay:

Pauly...my tomatoes took over my garden last year, hence the planning this year. Don't think I'll even plant a one as there's plenty to around in the community garden.

The old "stinking thinking" popped up on the way home from work yesterday but was not an issue. Seems to be my pattern, I can be going through hell and not think of booze but once I get my life somewhat sorted and start feeling better about myself the thought of indulging pops in. How insane is that!

As Pauly says...have a great BF Wednesday all.....:smile:PPQP

        Re: w/c 6 may

        Hey Abbers,

It was a lovely Hump day, weather wise, LOL
Got some more planting done outside & it wasn't too hot. This weekend is going to be hot & I will be turning on the AC for Mother's day

Mick, you got me thinking of something my grandmother cooked & here I found it on a Polish food page
Hungarian Lecso (Leczo) Recipe - Polish Recipes | Polska Foods Pierogi
I will have to reduce the spice part a bit or the hot flashes might kill me, ha ha but it looks good
Our Amish farmers grow the nicest tomatoes, much better than anything we have ever grown so we're leaving it up to them!

Pauly, I will pray for you tomato plant. Maybe you could give it some shade from the afternoon sun & keep it watered well.

PQ, I'm lucky if that I don't like something I've cooked usually the chickens are please to have it, ha ha!
The lentils themselves don't have that much flavor, it's the other stuff in the pot that really makes the dish I think.
Our habitual thought patterns can pop up at the strangest times, happens to me too. I just laugh it off & let it go

Greetings to the rest of our crew & wishing everyone a peaceful night!

          Re: w/c 6 may

Mick, your work along the fence line sounds positively back-breaking. Be careful!

Lav, I've got the lentil recipe printed out to try. Thanks for posting the link. The way that the Rebooted Mom describes the cooking process and shows photos, reminds me of the Pioneer Woman's site. I love her stuff too, but she may be too meat-centric for your tastes.

Pauly, glad that you explained Michelle's sunburn. I was wondering too.

PQ, what will you plant? So glad that we've got enough distance from the drinking habit so that it's not automatic anymore. Still though, the thoughts come sometimes. But the memories of how absolutely awful my life was back then are powerful too.

Since Monday, my (new) car has been in for repairs to the warning lights. Seems that some factory defect needs correcting and I won't get it back until next week. The upside is that the repair is covered under warranty, and they've provided me with a loaner vehicle. Other than the nagging thought that I may have purchased a lemon, all is well.

            Re: w/c 6 may

morning all, how are we all doing today then? all good I hope ....bit cloudy here today ,but its supposed to be good for the weekend...still playing on the railway, laying down ballast for the lines...long and tedious process ... brew on the go lets have one..

morning pie ...how are you then ? pretty frustrated with the new car ...appreciate that they have given you a lend car but thats not the point..so you going for the lentils too? we could have a lentil site!!have a great day

hiya Lav ,hows you then ? brew to you..thats the very one! we substitute chicken for the bacon, dont add the sugar ,and add rice that is precooked to the dish, its a meal on its own!!gld you got some planting done.well done you ..

hiya ppqp ..wow where did thatone come from ...the drinking thinking ...at least you can deal with it in a dismissive way!yesits going to be a pain digging out ..particularly as there is so little room to manoeuvre..best of luck with the lentil dishes...

hiya pauly ..how are you then today?hope all is well with you today?

big hello to everyone else ..

A school teacher asked her students to make a sentence containing the expression "I presume".

One little girl held up her hand and said: "Yesterday my mother hand washed the dinner dishes and I presumed that the dishwasher was broken."

            "Very good" said the teacher.

Another one said: "This morning, my father drove the Volkswagen out of the garage, I presume that the BMW wouldn't start."

            "That's excellent" says the teacher.

Little Johnny at the back of the classroom gets up and says: "Yesterday I saw grandpa leave the house with a newspaper under his arm and headed for the bush, I presume that......."

The teacher interrupted him and said, "I stopped you because you have no idea what your grandfather was going to do, so you can't presume anything."

Johnny says, "Please Teacher, let me finish my sentence."

The teacher says, "Very well. Continue."

"As I was saying, I saw my grandpa heading for the bush with a newspaper under his arm. I presume he was going for a crap because he can't read."

            Retired Person's Perspective

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people. I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.

I changed my car horn to gunshot sounds. People move out of the way much faster now.

You can tell a lot about a woman's mood just by her hands. If they are holding a gun, she's probably unhappy.

Gone are the days when girls cooked like their mothers. Now they drink like their fathers.

You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone you've just met? That's common sense leaving your body.

I don't like making plans for the day....because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.

I didn't make it to the gym today. That makes 1,508 days in a row.

I decided to change calling the bathroom "the John" and renamed it "the Jim". I feel so much better saying "I went to the Jim this morning".

Dear paranoid people, who check behind shower curtains for murderers: If you find one, what's your plan?

Everyone has a right to be stupid. Politicians just abuse the privilege. (just remember Einstein's comment, "There is a major difference between intelligence and stupidity; intelligence has its limits.")

            Biker with a Broken Zip
A couple were roaring down the road on a Honda motorcycle when the guy pulled over because his leather jacket had a broken zip. He told his girlfriend, "I can't keep driving any more, the air hitting me in the chest is unbearable."

His girlfriend said "Try putting your jacket on back to front."

The boyfriend quickly made the change and they continued roaring down the road until the next bend! The boyfriend was going far too fast, lost control and the couple were both flung into a ditch.

A passing motorist stopped, rushed over to help, then ran to call the police. The police telephone operator asked, "Are they showing any signs of life?"

"Well," the motorist explained, "the girl seems OK and her boyfriend was moving until I turned his head around the right way

            Seniors Under Attack
THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN COUNTRY!

            We Must Stop This Immediately

Have you noticed that stairs are getting steeper ? Groceries are heavier.
And, everything is farther away. Yesterday I walked to the corner and I was
dumbfounded to discover how long our street had become!
And, you know, people are less considerate now, especially the young ones.
They speak in whispers all the time! If you ask them to speak up they just
keep repeating themselves, endlessly mouthing the same silent message until
they're red in the face! What do they think I am, a lip reader?

I also think they are much younger than I was at the same age. On the other
hand, people my own age are so much older than I am. I ran into an old
friend the other day and she has aged so much that she didn't even recognize
            me.

I got to thinking about the poor dear while I was combing my hair this
morning, and in doing so, I glanced at my own reflection well, REALLY NOW -
even mirrors are not made the way they used to be!
Another thing, everyone drives so fast these days! You're risking life and
limb if you happen to pull onto the freeway in front of them. All I can say
is, their brakes must wear out awfully fast, the way I see them screech and
swerve in my rear view mirror.

Clothing manufacturers are less civilized these days. Why else would they
suddenly start labeling a size 32 waist pant as 40? Do they think no one
notices? The people who make bathroom scales are pulling the same prank. Do
they think I actually 'believe' the number I see on that dial? HA! I would
never let myself weigh that much! Just who do these people think they're
            fooling?

I'd like to call up someone in authority to report what's going on -- but
the telephone company is in on the conspiracy too: they've printed the phone
books in suchsmall type that no one could ever find a number in there!
All I can do is pass along this warning: WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!

Unless something drastic happens, pretty soon everyone will have to suffer
            these awful indignities.
PLEASE PASS THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO WE CAN GET
            THIS CONSPIRACY STOPPED!

PS: I am sending this to you in a larger font size, because something has
happened to my computer's fonts - they are smaller than they once were.

            Thank you.

              MAE ALL...

Mick...looks like we have the same weather forecast. We're socked in here for today and tomorrow then dry, sunny and hot for the weekend. Perfect for getting the garden planted up. Going to have to deal with some creditor phone calls as my paycheque is not going into the bank where I owe all the money. Was told to say I'm trying to figure out how to make my payments or to just not answer but definitely not to say that I'm putting a creditor proposal together. I'll find that rough but will just remember that I have a plan in place. Trustee needs some historical information which will finally force me to get the rest of my paper work in order. So there's the positive. LOL

Pi...oooh I forgot about Mick's back, yes do be careful Mick! Definitely have to keep those "What it was like" memories to keep us grounded. And like you say the distance from the drinking habits helps stop the automatic response. I'll always remember sitting in front of the liquor store mentally making my pros/cons "Mick List". Will be planting all vegetables just not sure exactly what. A fellow gardener has a ton of seeds; carrots, peas, beans, zucchini, radishes, etc. and will give me lettuce seedlings instead of starting from seed. There will be no kale though! Still have your heard of 4 legged mini humans? How's that going? I sure hope it's not the case of a lemon. Heard too many horror stories about those.

Lav...thanks for the link. Gotta say the pierogies caught my eye right off the bat! Haven't made those for awhile. Good to know you have those habitual thought patterns too. I didn't laugh but did think where'd that come from? and told myself just remember where you've came from.

Sam...how's the new you going? Have a feeling you've been out veying for awhile now.

Det...thinking of you and hoping you're getting settled in your new you.

TT...think of you quite often. Hope the new job/research is going well and you're happy with the new digs.

Gotta say without the weight of all my debt I have a lot more energy to concentrate on positive steps forward. It's a great relief. I'll say it for you Pauly...hope we all have a great BF Thursday.....:smile:PPQP

                    Re: w/c 6 may

                    Greetings Abbers,

Busy day here, just sitting down at nearly 10 pm.
Just sent my daughter & granddaughter home with the 96 succulents I wrapped for the GS lunch Saturday plus all the other stuff they needed to borrow. I also donated two of the reading pillows I’ve been making for door prizes.

Mick, the rain & thunder storms held off until dinner time & I’m still seeing some lightning!
I hope your day was good

Pie, I’ve seen the Pioneering Woman recipes. They do look good but I’m looking for lighter meals these days.
I must be highly unusual but I stopped drinking 9+ years ago & never lost a single pound. I also quit smoking around then so that may be part of the reason. I get so jealous when people talk about all they weight they lose when they quit, ha ha!

Pauly, hope your day was good!

PQ, I am feeling so relieved for you. Money troubles are a pain but fixable with a good plan
I’ll get you eating & loving lentils or die trying, LOL
The Polish foods can be a bit heavy, a once in a while treat only!!!
I have learned to laugh at the very occasional drinking thoughts that pop up, you will too & feel proud! We rock!!!

Hello to the rest of the group & wishing a good night for all!

Lav...spoke with my co-worker yesterday and she said she'd love to share the next Lentil dish she makes for her lunch. She also told me that the Organic Grocery Store we have down the street offers a variety of Lentil dishes as free samples. If it's not pouring out this morning might check it out for my lunch. You're such a good Grandma, you're G/daughter must be so excited for the Mother's Day Tea.

Mick...I only drink black coffee and nope, no heartburn. Aw the attachments didn't work, will wait for the next posting. Is the builder coming for the fence part of your repairs? I'm feeling ok and I'll just deal with the phone calls knowing I have my plan. Would be a whole different story if I didn't have a plan! My gardener friend is a fanatic, she'll have my plot cleaned, nourished and planted in 20 minutes. We'll be getting together some time this weekend. Glad I waited as the temps have been hovering around 38F and the "s" word is rearing it's ugly head for the long weekend.

Pauly...I'm with Mick...if my phone charged I'd get rid of it too. LOL

Good job, Sam. It doesn't seem like 5 years when you joined the Subscribers thread. Congratulations.

                                Evening greetings Abbers!

Well, we hopped into the truck & rode north for an hour to a gigantic plant sale on an old farm that is now preserved & on the historical register. What a neat place & great plants. We filled up the back seat with lots of new stuff including some aquatic plants for a little water garden, cool!

Mick, GS stands for Girl Scouts & I've been helping out with some details for a big luncheon tomorrow. Remember all the little lace teacups I made? They are being used in the napkin rings & all the plants I wrapped this week will be gifts for all the moms in attendance. Fun times
Sorry we can't see your pictures.

Cowboy, thanks for letting us know about Sam's 5 year anniversary!

PQ, the girls are excited about tomorrow's luncheon - hope it goes well after all this work, ha ha!
I predict you are going to love the lentil dishes, I sure do. I'm consuming fewer animal products & I am not interested in pretend meat/chicken products, yuck.
Hope you had a good day!

                                Hi the SK!

                                Have a nice night everyone!
