Re: feb fird
Greetings Abbers,
Mick, wonderful jokes, I laughed out loud at the fishing one! Sorry about your wind, hope things calm down soon. Lav, how were the boys? I hope they behaved OK. SK, what a beautiful description of your visitor! So interesting what is wandering around by you . Hope you are feeling better. PPQ, glad you have your reading set for the weekend... a good book is such a great companion. Pauly, I will post the spice cake recipe - that's the one you want, right? So sorry about KEll, relieved that she is OK, whew. Greetings to Det, Sam, and Pi.
Well, I spent the entire day going through the house, tidying, putting things in their places. It turns out that I am in better shape than I thought. One closet to empty and dis ruse, but the rest is all contained. Not much clutter, just have to go once again through all the keepables and do another round of letting go. I'm taking an armload of clothes for donation - I've had them mpset aside for over a year, but haven't made the trip to my favorite Donation place, a small town 1/2 hour away, where they truly help their at-risk community. I love supporting them. Spent the evening making a Plan, with tasks on an excel sheet... time to work the plan!
Wishing all a great Friday.

One day he went into a pub toilet. He said "Undo Zip
" so the arm undid his zip.
He said "Ready, aim, fire!" so he started to pee.
Then he saw a condom machine on the wall that was labelled as '£10 for 2!'
"RIP OFF!" he shouted.

"Oh dear! I'm very sorry." replied her friend "What did you do?"
"Opened a can of peas instead!"

The man begins crying. "I'm sorry! Its ruining my life. I can't sleep. I do it every time I have a drink! It's worrying me to death, please don't hit me..."
The bar tender takes pity. "Look, I have a brother who is a psychiatrist, here's his card, why don't you see him?"
The man hugs the bartender, shakes his hand and leaves with a thousand thank yous...

"Well, that's great. This beer is on the house."

Elsie, an elderly lady, stopped to drive into a parking space when a young man in his brand new red BMW drove around her and parked in the space that she had been waiting for. Elsie was so angered that she approached the young fellow and enquired, through gritted teeth, 'I was about to park there.'
The man looked at her with disdain and replied, 'That's what you can do when you're young and bright.'
This annoyed Elsie even more, so she got back in her car, backed it up and then she stamped on the accelerator and rammed straight into his BMW.
The young man ran back to his car and shouted in a stunned voice, 'What did you do that for?'
Elsie smiled at him and said, 'That's what you can do when you're old and rich.'

Re: feb fird
Good evening group,
Had a quiet kid free day today, haha. They actually weren't too bad yesterday. Having to keep them here so late is a shame they should be in bed, not emptying my kitchen cabinets.
The chilly air is returning, it was a nice break this week for sure.
Mick, I hope you're not planning to send your weather over this way, Lol
Great to hear Julie's not having a hear issue. Did the docs by any chance mention the word 'Costochrondritis'? It is an inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs & breastbone.
My daughter first had it in high school after a bout of bronchitis with a lot of coughing. It's kind of scary until you know what's going on. Ibuprofen helps a lot if Julie can take something like that.
Wow Cyn, I figured you wouldn't have too much to do to get your house ready for showing. That's why we should all be like you & get organized!!!!
So remind me of where you are thinking of moving. (Granny brain doesn't always retain all the facts)
PQ, I did sneak on here yesterday when the boys weren't watching, ha ha! Hunkering down for the weekend sounds like a good idea. Do you have any firewood? We have our fire place going right now.
SK, so you have bobcats roaming around? Geez! I wonder if they like chickens...…
I hope yo have a good weekend. Will you be able to see your granddaughter this weekend?
Hello to Pauly, Det, Sam & Pie.
I made a pretty good veggie pot pie today & roasted some turkey legs for the carnivore here. I don't like turkey legs, not even a little.
Nothing much else going on so I'll just say have a nice night!

MAE ALL....speaking of eggs, this pretty much sums up our weather
canadian egg.jpg
SK...thanks for the tip on the microwave egg. I'll give it a try but I'm nervous about cooking eggs in there. No chance of it bursting? Welcome to the Lost Post Club...Mick is currently the leader. LOL Glad your visitor didn't want to come inside! Compared to Trump I'd pick Trudeau but all leaders have their issues. Us here in the west are a little ticked off with him right now.
TG...the thing about a companion book is if you don't like it you can toss it and it doesn't come back to haunt you! I am grateful that my mom got me reading at an early age. I'm glad you are in better shape than you thought with the de-cluttering, my faith has been restored. LOL So is the plan about getting your house ready to sell?
Mick..."on top of that we are in the middle of storm Erik" On top of what? Did I miss something? So glad to hear it wasn't heart issues with Julie, you guys have got too much traveling left to do.
Lav...our chilly air was supposed to move on out next week but it's decided to stay. Nope, no wood. Still not ready to light up the fireplace. When the inspection was done (I wasn't here so couldn't ask the questions I wanted to) the guy just stuck a light up the chimney, wrote something down and left. I figure the money I'd save on the heating bill would be spent on those little plastic wrapped logs you get at the corner store, so it's just as well. Before my condo neighbour, who had a ground floor unit with walk out patio area, moved out we were going to split a cord of wood so that would have been worth it.
Pauly...missed your dinner menu for tonight, now what am I going to do! LOL
Det...can't remember when you have to move the trailer and am wondering if the job situation changed.
I think it may be some Mario this weekend. Have a snugly evening all....:smile:PPQP

Re: feb fird
PPQ, I've never had an issue with them blowing up. Many people use a mug for the shape and cook 2 min @ 50%. I think I'll have them for breakfast tomorrow.
It's pretty cold here, I think it went down to the 20's last night.
I'm reading a book on crossing Antarctica. I've read all the Scott and Amundsum books. It's a little like Mount Everest - people still want to climb it in different ways. But they estimate about 2 or 3 tonnes of garbage has been left at base camps A big block fell of Everest on the top and rest of the himalayas are in trouble. The sherpas are doing all the work and Sir Edmund Hillary built a school for them, but I haven't heard of much philanthropy for them since. Climbing is the only income for them and if you want to go up it will cost you $100K - for all inclusive. I'd like to see it on a kind of fly-by, but the air is a bit thin for that.
A doctor from Dallas went up, treated the sherpas terribly, got stranded then rescued, was a real jerk and Karma gave him frostbite to his nose, poor baby.
I have made a point of reading the adventures of early explorers from Chichester to Kenya's settling.
I agree, Lav, those boys should be home in bed by nine, sheesh.
See you tomorrow.Last edited by SKendall; February 8, 2019, 09:44 PM.Enlightened by MWO

The old couple had bought just one meal in MacDonalds.
They sat down and the old man divided the meal.
He cut the hamburger in half. He counted out the fries, exactly 14 each.
He poured half of the cola into the spare cup he had asked for and began eating.
His old and frail wife watched.
The guy in the next booth approached the couple and asked if he could buy them another meal so they had one each.
‘No thank you Sir , we are used to sharing, we do this all the time’ replied the old man.
‘So why isn’t your wife eating’ the other guy asked.
‘Oh she’s just waiting for the teeth’ he replied.
Couple with a big dog live next door to a couple who have a prize winning champion rabbit they keep in a luxurious hutch complex in the garden. One day the dog gets out and arrives at his back door hours later, wagging his tail and covered in mud and dirt with next door’s prize champion bunny, very dead, in his jaws. The dog owners go into panic mode. What to do? Next door are fortunately away until tomorrow. Dad arrives at a solution. Dads’ always do! Put the bunny in the washing machine, then the dryer, brush it’s fur nicely, clean all the mud and blood off and put it back in it’s hutch when it’s dark. When next door get home they’ll think bunny died a natural death in their absence. 2 days Later. Dog owners are talking to bunny owners over the fence. ‘ Everything good’ asks dog owners of bunny couple. ‘Yeah, but you know there are some sick bastards around. Last week our prize rabbit died so we buried him in the garden. We came home a couple of days ago and some twisted get had dug him up, cleaned and brushed him and put him back in his hutch”.

Wife complains about a host of issues relating to her husband, she lists a litany of things he does or doesn’t do including lack of intimacy, failure to embrace her, comfort her etc etc. The counsellor rises, walks over to the wife, helps her to rise from her chair. He tenderly caresses her, kisses her neck and then gives her a lingering full on kiss. Turning to her husband he says, ‘that’s what your wife needs three times a week can you do this’. The husband looks at the counsellor and replies, ‘well I can drop her off here Monday and Wednesdays but Fridays is my fishing day’.
I came home all aghast, told my wife I had stood amidst a mass grave of snowmen. Turns out it was a carrot field!
I was having an argument with my mate Dave in the pub about which British based male singer had the most distinctive voice, he decided to start canvasing other customers in the pub;
The first person he asked said "Definitely George Michael . . . or perhaps Elton John?"
The next person he asked said "It's bound to be Freddie Mercury . . . or perhaps Will Young?"
He asked another person, they said "It's got to be Marc Almond . . . or is it Boy George?"
One old timer said "George Melly . . . no wait, it might be Michael Ball?"
The last person he asked said "Probably Jimmy Somerville . . . or maybe Holly Johnson?"
Dave was getting really frustrated by this point and snapped "For Christ's sake, can't anyone give me a straight answer?"

Re: feb fird
Greetings Abbers!
Mick, so sorry to hear of all the wind... i think wind is really hard to handle, especially when it goes on for more than a day - good luck. Whew, good news about Julie; sorry for your sleepless nights. The Cinema is adorable! You are reminding me that I was crazy about miniatures when I was a kid...
Lav, I had costochondritis! Wow that was painful... it was decades ago, and I was alone at home... I drove myself to emergency because I seriously thought I was having a heart attack. The X-rays showed arthritis in my breastbone, but nothing else... I read about the condition later (this was pre-internet) and recognized it immediately. Glad the boys were good - maybe they are acting out from a little sleep deprivation at home?
PPQ, I didn't say where we are moving, because I don't know... how's that for an answer! I am putting my trust in the Universe at this point... we have yet to hear what HB's NYC contract will be next year, we know we will be gone from this home at least all summer this year, the market is hot now and we fear the news about a possible coming recession in the fall... I can't handle this home and grounds all by myself anymore, so it just seems like time to move on... I'll keep you posted !
SK, I am an devotee of climbing books too. My family did a lot of camping and climbing in the 60's, when all those early ascents were being made... we even named one of our dogs Tenzing! There's a wonderful book about Mallory - "Into the silence" - about why the brits started these climbing adventures... to rid themselves of the horror of WW1. Horrible about all the garbage, I am ashamed of these dilettantes going up those slopes. ( I remember the guy you are talking about - he also lost all his toes, and is only alive because his wife got some crazy helicopter pilot to go get him, at $$$$$$$. She didn't want him to go in the first place... sheesh!)
Pauly, how's things at work, settling in? Hope so. The dog pics are adorable (kids too!)
Det, Sam, Pi, hope all is well with you.
I spent over an hour outside yesterday in the 40 degrees, chopping away at the worst of the brambles, and catching up on the fall garden cleanup (that never happened). Gotta work on curb appeal as well as everything else...
Wishing all a splendid Saturday-

Re: feb fird
whew! Ahoy ABerooos!
working like a madman training this week. 12hr days with no lunch Wed and Thur. Finally got a shorter day yesterday so
managed to get into gym and Refuge Recovery and feeling humanish again. yay. Managing to not stress out about much of
anything which is novel for me. The intensive meditation discipline I've engaged in is so very valuable and beneficial... can't reccomend
it highly enough. And STOP watching the bloody news for crying out loud! for dogs sake. Or at least don't allow it to actually
imprison you emotionally. It's truly not worth it. Let that sh#t go and pass the poached eggs
PPQ, I love the Canadian side up eggs shot!
Mick, how much does it cost to see a show at your tiny cinema? just too cute.
So thankful they pushed my trip to Indianapolis out to the 17th. Need the time to settle in and perhaps even the weather will
warm up a tad.
I may even be leading a RR group soon as there's a need for a new meeting closer to my area. interesting.
grateful also to have the weekend off so i can get my ass back in the kitchen.
Really been a good brain workout learning so many new things and it appears this new job will be anything but boring which is nice. I'm not
the type that can sit in a cubicle all day and operate a phone. Huge respect to those that can but that's not me.
SK, a bobcat? they are so beautiful and not easy to get a glimpse of so that's a treat. I've only seen one and it was years ago.
Interestingly there are some archeological dig sites here in Vegas that are actively being analyzed. Saber-tooth cats, giant land sloths and all
kinds of interesting critters. oh, and a bird that had a 23 foot wingspan. amazing. Dunno if I'm allowed to visit them or not....hmmm.
that's the news for now. be well loves!nosce te ipsum

Re: feb fird
Good evening Abbers,
Chilly & windy here today but dry outside. Snow/ice & whatever arrives Monday night ~ swell. I turned a little heat on for my chickens as I was closing up their house this evening. The temp was on 29 degrees in there, Brrr.
Mick, does your tiny theater sell tiny bags popcorn too? Very cute!!
I hope Julie is feeling OK today.
I'm awaiting my lavender seeds to sprout in the greenhouse. I bought the seeds at a lavender farm while on my trip to Canada last summer. Love that stuff
Cyn, my daughter had a few episodes of that chest pain while still in high school. We knew what it was & I had to educate the school nurse, haha! She didn't have any more problems with it until a year or two before my granddaughter was born. My son-in-law was so freaked out he took her to an ER at a hospital in MD. They just happened to be travelling thru the area. I ended up down in that ER with her & knew it was the same old thing happening again because she had just had another case of bronchitis or something. Geez, this stuff can turn your hair gray.
I keep reading that we shouldn't do fall cleanup in our yards anymore. The birds & other creatures need that junk to use for cover during the winter. I did absolutely no cleanup last fall so I'll be busy this spring. Good luck, don't wear yourself out!
PQ, those Duraflame & other logs you purchase at the stores are not good to use very often. My firefighter family tells me they leave a lot of wax & other stuff in your chimney that causes fires. Is it possible to get a half of a cord delivered? We've done that in our other houses. YB has so much firewood stacked up outside we should be having a sale LOL
SK, wow, it went down to 20's in TX?I didn't know that was even possible.
I guess that Dallas doctor knows all about karma now, oh well.
Det, glad you are keeping everything in perspective. Keeping my mind peace is at the top of my list every single day! I no longer give a rat's a$$ what anyone else thinks......it could also have something to do with my age & grandma status, LOL. I'll have to stop back & post a picture of my latest embroidered creation.
I can't quite imagine a bird with a 23 foot wingspan but we do have several bald eagles hanging around here. Up close they are HUGE!
Here’s my sweatshirt creation.
