Hello all how are we today then ?things haven't quite really worked out today as we planned, including the weather. It's actually pouring down with rain as we speak but apart from that went down to Julie's Dad's house where the bathroom is getting ripped out and the shower fitted and when I got there the fitter was already there working to the drawings. On the drawings it shows a gap between the edge of the shower and the window .Their proposal was to block up and board over a quarter of that window a
nd go around the window ledge ..so basically when you looked in the bathroom you would see three quarters of window and the remainder would be boarded over . in addition to this water running down the side in the gap would cause a possible slip hazard . What we did find out is the drawing and documentation that the fitter got wasn't quite the same as ours in as much as the problem I've just talked about I'd already been highlighted on the fitters sheet where it said snags and that sheet was missing on the customer copy but unfortunately the fitter left his copy lying around so I photographed it. Julie then contacted the company and told them the issues... they tried to charge us another £550 to move the shower and seat to the other end onto the door wall which would have made it practical and more common sense. What they didn't realise is Julie deals contracts and contractual work every day of the week..once she had sight of that piece of paper to say that the problem had already previously been identified she's sort of hinted to them that she knew that te been previous issues highlighted by a surveyor. They are now moving it to the other wall at no cost !so as you can see I've had a pretty bad day rushing up and down the roads it is now 4:20 and I still haven't even had my dinner yet hope all is well I'm going to get something to eat first.

Watching the grandsons again this evening. So far so good
It just started raining, no big deal but i’m watching the news about a hurricane & another storm system that could end up merging here this weekend. FL is under a state of emergency, oh boy. Hurricane Dorian has already hit Puerto Rico & the US VI.

Back again...

Since there was no internet went in early this morning and lo and behold the boss was there. He was all in a panic as he still didn't have enough volunteers for our Casino which starts tomorrow. Do you know how hard it was to bite my tongue instead of saying "Not my monkey, not my circus". LOL Played cards this afternoon and everyone was in a panic to sign up for the new term so ended up staying afterwards and getting them all sorted out. will be tacking on another 2 hours to my vacation time.

Pauly...you sure you actually see fall in Vegas? LOL

Mick...what a load of crap with the contractors. Glad you were able to get a pic of those previously identified errors so Julie could do her thing. Sounds about the same thing going on here with the work in the childcare area. Wrong flooring, don't know where to vent the cold air return, etc., etc., etc. The Preschool teacher should be setting up her room today but there appears to be 4 furnaces in the middle of the room. That's what the boss gets when he buggers off for 3 weeks at the start of construction. I just shake my head and walk away, again, not my circus. Hope you got something good to eat.

Lav...that was an early post for you, get it in when you can eh? Have the grandkids gone back to school yet? Can't remember. Hope you're not expected to just be there and available at a drop of the hat. I actually had a good day thinking glad I'm not dealing with the sh*t show going on.

Good afternoon everybody and how are we today then ?all good ?I hope you're well. just as we said things couldn't get any worse... I turned up this morning to let the fitter in to start his work, he ripped all the old boards out awaiting the new stuff. I then nipped to the shop,on the way I got a phone call from him .... his words" you're not going to believe this" I asked him what was I wasn't going to believe and apparently the wall boards that were ordered yesterday to replace the ones that had ripped off had not been put on the vehicle for delivery they will be here tomorrow morning. So all in all a job that was supposed to take 2 days currently has taken almost a week without even thinking about being finished. I know exactly what's going to happen once the jobs finished.. Julie has already started writing to the parent bearing in mind this company have just won the National contract for refurbishing older people's homes, this isn't going to look too good for them..... not my problem .so that is another day completely wasted and tomorrow will be as well I had every intention would like to see my brother tomorrow but that isn't going to happen obviously .and also to make it really clever the internet has packed up as well so I'm doing this on my phone. It is blowing really windy outside but at the moment it is dry for how long I don't know once again I will try and get any later on if the internet sorts itself out and put up some jokes because believe me I could do with some as well well off and pissed are two words that spring to mind rapidly

got a lead on a job in the health care industry and just applied a few minutes ago after retuning my resume. My resume is chock full of
really politically incorrect material so it's a rough deal for me to get into a very different industry but I'll make it happen by hook or by crook.

Mick, online food is certainly the way of the future.. great that it's treating you so well. That's a huge savings. Someday we'll have drones fly
up and just stuff a taco in our mouth. ahhahahahahah! ok, that's not quite so funny but it's probably going to happen.

Pauly...You haven't experienced Halloween unless it's -25 with snow banks higher than the kids you're dragging through the streets.

Mick...Murphy's Law strikes again! What a pain. We created an all natural playground for the preschool group and ordered a 5 foot wooden log. After 2 weeks it arrived and when they unloaded it noticed that it had been cracked down the middle. Apparently when then unloaded and loaded into a truck they didn't use the proper equipment so back it went. They sent another one and again after 2 weeks when they unloaded it they dropped it and yup broke it in half. Finally spoke to the original person at the company and she guaranteed we'd have a new log in place within a week. Gotta say if you want something done right ask a woman. I hope they sit up and pay attention after they get Julie's letter. Sorry you're going to have to put off visiting your brother. A great start to my day ended up tanking as well. Was just waiting for the boss to show up so I could take off for the afternoon when I twisted around to talk to someone behind me and the pain just shot through my back. Unbelievable, it's like being back at square one. :rant:

Det...ended up with a plate full of perogies and kubasa. Never really gotten into the protein bars. LOL Good luck with the job in the health care system, I hate re-writing my resume!

Good evening Abbers,

No boy watching this evening & that’s OK with me. The younger one had a tremendous mood swing last evening, sad. He’s fine one minute & the next he’s bouncing off the walls. You never know when he’s going to just lose it & act out.
The boys started back to school on Monday. My granddaughter doesn’t go back until next week.

Mick, is Julie’s dad OK living there while the work is being done? He can’t get hurt on anything i hope.
I stopped in the vet’s office yesterday to get a refill on my dog’s thyroid supplement. There was another woman sitting there waiting for something & we got to talking. She’s just moved her MIL into her house & is looking for ideas on how to handle someone with Alzheimers. I gave her a few tips, mostly safety tips. I told her about some of the outreach services offered by the hospitals & even churches in the area.

PQ, my daughter did her first year of college out in the western part of the state, up on a mountain. She was shocked to see a foot of snow on Halloween, haha. She transferred back home after that first year, haha! I hope your boss gets his head out of his a$$ soon for everyone’s sake.

Mae everybody,nope no snow on Halloween here but where I grew up there was plenty of snow when I was a kid during trick or treating,I think that's one of the benefits of Vegas,not too much of that mess,PQ,how's the back? Must be a bit better cuz you haven't mentioned it much,Lav, sometimes the boys just need to be entertained with electronics,even Romeo gets to use my phone when he's being rowdy and I can't calm him down,he likes his nursery rhymes and tbh I kinda like to sing along with some of them too haha,Mick hope all is good in Micksville,I'm so used to you posting before me in the morning,had an awful dream that me and Kell were gambling before work and I ordered a beer!! Pauly...mentioned at the end of the post to Mick that I twisted my back yesterday and the pain was incredible. It's as if I'm back to square 1 and taking meds every couple of hours again. At least it's the long weekend for me so hopefully I can get this sorted out again. How telling is it that in your dream you ordered a beer and then didn't drink it. LOL Hope you're having a good day.

Lav...I feel so sorry for your grandson, I'm sure he doesn't want to be that way. Honestly there has to be some kind of help he can get otherwise it's going to be a long school year. We donate a room twice a month to Alzheimer Caregiver's. I think that has got to be one of the hardest jobs to do, especially since it's usually family members. Bosses head is still up his ass and today is a total screw-up. He's had all summer to bring in the duct cleaning people while there is no children in the building but no let's wait till the last day of summer when all the kids are in the building and they're supposed to have a windup BBQ. Hoses and noise in every room of the building. Preschool room not ready yet but he promised they could get in there this afternoon to setup. Yeah right. He was nowhere in sight when I was ready to leave at noon so just left a note on the counter saying staff is in the building and someone would be available soon. Then I left. LOL

Hoping I can get the pain in my back under control again as I don't want to spend the whole weekend immobile. Will check back to see anymore posts....:smile:PPQP

I totally missed that you posted that, fingers crossed it will feel better quickly Det,I've had cauliflower crust pizza before and it was good,hope yours turns out,yeah the dream wasn't the worst buy it was uncomfortable because I haven't gambled in over a year so to have it feel so real was creepy,I used to have a terrible gambling problem that I blame on Zoloft,it made me do terribly impulsive things,after I stopped it I stopped doing such weird shit(except drinking) who knows

I’m wondering if maybe you would benefit by having a soft back brace for a while. They are elastic & close will velcro & have supports in just the right spots. I’ll look around & see if I can find a link for you. Hang in there & get some rest!

Pauly, I have to take the electronics away when he goes overboard, angry, screaming & throwing things. It’s sad really. Don’t let the dreams scare you, they are reminders why we don’t do dumb stuff any more.

Det, it’s not a sugar problem with the kid, it’s a psych problem for which he has medication. The problem is his parents are not making sure he takes it which starts all these problems. I hope your grandma time was good.
