    Re: 26 june

MAE ALL....so the reason I didn't post yesterday was because I was in the emergency ward from 2pm to midnight! Went to the Doc's at 1:30pm and she was thinking the swelling in my foot was an infection but was concerned about a blood clot and asked if a co-worker could take a look. He agreed and she was arranging for an ultra sound until we kept talking. Admitted that my breathing had become more laboured which I assumed was my COPD at that some times when I cough or sneeze I get a sharp pain below my rib cage. I just stand up, move around a bit, and it goes away. She said this changes everything and we can't assume it's COPD or my arthritis so she called the emergency room with what is known as a RAPID. She explained my symptoms to the Emerg Doc and he agreed I should come in. The RAPID means I can skip the line at the emergency check in and that they are expecting me. Just because you can get in quick doesn't mean everything else will be quick. So after blood work, EKG, chest xray and a CT scan the diagnosis is an infection and I'm on anti biotics. Geesh! a one stop shop I guess better safe than sorry and I feel I've completed my annual check up as well. LOL Sorry, had to get that out it was a very frustrating day and to top it off it took me 20 minutes to figure out how to get out of the parking lot. The whole hospital site is under construction.

Mick...yup, the firebreaks were put in all through southern Alberta, unfortunately it's BC that's on fire at the moment. With record breaking 122F temps and no rain it's dangerous out there. Calgary has been breaking records left right and centre but this OMEGA system is supposed to break tonight with rain forecast for tomorrow morning. We'll all be out there "singing in the rain". Have fun on your travels.

Lav...boy I am in a pissy mood today. The only thing I've done is go and get my anti biotic prescription filled and everyone out there are idiots. Wonder if we'll remember this heat wave when it's -40F in a couple of months. I've had 4 does and I can already feel a huge difference! Swelling has gone done and the tightness is almost gone. LOL No history of psoriatic arthritis or any rheumatoid arthritis in my family, guess I'm the chosen one. I like Applebees, I wish we had them in Alberta. The only reason the program coordinator still has her head is she's off on holidays for a week, without her laptop! YAY The boss has also headed out of town for 5 days so I don't have to put up with either of them. It is strange that every time the boss is gone so is the program coordinator. Hope you didn't get clobbered yesterday, those were some pretty ominous clouds in that pic. I'm looking forward to the cool down even if it is only for a few days.

Hoping that no news is good news with the rest of the gang. Have a good evening all....:smile:PPQP

      Re: 26 june

      Greetings friends,

The heatwave is over, thank goodness!!
We’ve had several rain storms today, last night it was just thunder & lightning, no rain which is weird.

Mick, with Covid & the cost of fuel I wonder if we should be getting the message to just stay the heck home. I surely do not want to fly anywhere right now, people are insane on the airplanes, assaulting flight attendants & making fling ‘unfriendly
Yeah, our 48 years have been unusual but we haven’t killed one another yet so……..LOL

PQ, down here when there’s a rapid response called it’s usually because the patient has no pulse or respirations. Glad you were seen quickly though. I imagine they were looking for a PE & things of that sort. Glad you’re starting to feel better already. So what do you think the source of the infection was? I’m always curious about stuff like that with prevention of recurrences in mind
So your boss & program coordinator are on vacation - together?? Haha, that would be a nightmare!!! Ihope your cool down comes soon, I hate this excessive heat, I’ll take the cold, honestly.

Hello to Cyn, hope you are doing OK.
Hello to Pauly, Det, Sam & Pie.

Looks like my daughter & her crew are coming over July 4th, they’ve cancelled their camping trip. They haven’t been here since Christmas, so it’s time
      Have a good night all!

        Mae all,

Mick, good and safe journey wishes to you - hope you don't end up in another traffic jam! Love the pic of Jeeves... so funny.

Det, so good to hear from you - great pics - and good job on going to the social media meetings... when you get it figured out, let me know, okay?

Lav, what a fabulous "blast from the last" photo on FB, cute. So glad to hear that the cool down has finally arrived, enjoy it. Glad the chickens are hanging in, and so happy to hear the daughter and fam are coming over! Have fun...

PPQ, poor thing - the heat and then the ER!!! What a time you've had. I guess the only god thing is that your work tormentors will be out of the office... enjoy if you can! Wishing you speedy healing...

Pauly, sending greetings - hopwmyou will have a good holiday.

And sending greetings to Sam and all others, be safe...

I am working and working, that's about all to say!

MAE ALL...thanks for letting me vent about my ordeal on Wednesday. I'm sure not all of you really want to hear about my personal trials.

Lav...I think the difference is this is a Rapid phone call to emergency for advice and the advantage is the Doctor in emergency has a medical history before the patient arrives. Still have no idea what the source of the infection was as there is no open wounds on my foot. Could it be a toenail fungus? My feet are not in the best condition and without being able to get a pedicure for 16 months it hasn't helped. I guess a thunderstorm rolled through here last night but I didn't hear it. Very humid out there today with warnings in place. Hope it rains soon. It'll be great to have your daughter & crew on July 4th, I can see the menu materializing already.

TG...thanks for the wishes. Tormentors out of the office is great! You sound like you're still way too busy. Hope you can get some down time.

No rain yet but lots of humidity today. Hopefully Saturday will see some reprieve.

Shout out to Mick, Sam, Det, Pauly and Pi...have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

            Greetings all,

I imagine Mick is on the road now. Make it a good trip

Cyn, sorry the work hours are stu\ill so long. Guess you can't actually take any time off right now. Take care of yourself, you’re important too
Yep, the wedding photo is a blast from the past & I just can’t get over the long hair on everyone back then, haha!!

PQ, I’m thinking if you had a fungal infection the antibiotic wouldn’t be helping & actually making things worse. I don’t do any barefoot walking anymore, just in case. Things seem to happen so damn easily after a certain age, if you know what I mean. Glad you’re coming along OK. Some of. The excess humidity that was stil here this morning disappeared once the sun arrived. I know we have more rain on teh way for the weekend though. It’s always feast or famine I guess!

Hello to the missing crew members & wishing everyone a ver safe July 4th weekend!!
            Have a good night all!

Lav...the toe fungus was a guess but I would never have known antibiotics could make it worse. Obviously that wasn't the case as everyone had been looking at my feet. LOL I wanted to report we're having a mega thunder and lightening storm right now. Lots of rain but so far no hail that the south of Calgary got.

                Mae all,

TGIF... I had planned on getting up at o'dark and driving 2hours to meet my stepdaughter, but we both decided that we were too tired, and didn't want to face the holiday traffic... good decision! I am relieved, and now I have a little down time... much needed.

                How are you all?

Lav, sounds like you are headed for a little better weather? Hope so.

PPQ, we have been having strange thunderstorms without rain,,jus t lightening and thunder. Really scary with the dry conditions here. Did I tell about the lightening that nearly struck me and the house earlier this week? Long story - will tell another time.

Det, how's your weather? And how did the meetup,go? Really hoping you will be able to generate some good leads from all your work...

Mick, here's wishing you a good time on your trip... did you go back to the seaside in Wales? Happy hunting with your owls...

                Pauly, sure miss you here...

Sam and all, others, hoping you are well...

                Take care all -

                      Re: 26 june

                      Good evening friends,

The rain storm count is up to 3 so far today & the sun keeps coming out afterwards. All that freaky humidity we had during the heatwave should be gone now
I have all sorts of things ready to go on the grill tomorrow. I’ll be making some Italian style potato salad with green beans (no mayo) & a few other sides. I baked up a yummy looking chocolate chip pound cake today - no calories of course, Lol. Hopefully tomorrow will be drier than today. It will be to have some family here, no one except my younger grandson has been here since Christmas, geez.

Mick, glad you’re settled in at Ravenglass, I hope you have a very enjoyable visit.
Let me be the first to say Happy 9th birthday to you :yay: It’s been a memorable journey & I’m grateful we have all traveled together!

PQ, here’s a little medical info for you - bacterial infections are treated with antibiotics but fungal infections need to be treated with antifungals. I imagine the average person is not aware of that but surely your primary care person knows the difference
Hoped you enjoyed your thunderstorm & it was followed by cooler & drier air.

Cyn, glad you carved out some downtime for yourself!
I can’t stand holiday traffic anymore - getting too old & grumpy for that haha! We are saturated after all the rain & I doubt anyone will be lighting fireworks - we’ll see.
Hoping for a dry day for outdoor cooking tomorrow. We can always drag the grill underneath the pergola if needed.

Pauly & Det, I hope you have a good July 4th!

Same to you Sam & Pie!

                      Have a nice night all!

Great to hear you have arrived at your destination, Mick - have fun - happy 9th Anniversary, and happy birthday soon!

Lav, we could use some of that rain here... big thunderclouds and some lightening, but hardly any rain. No firewaorks permitted here... okay by me! All your dishes sound great... have fun with family - so glad they are coming over.

PPQ, hoping your Friday went fine, and that your health is improving...

Wishing all (hello Det, Sam, Pie and all...) a happy holiday...
