    MAE everyone, from Calgary.

Mick, do you often find coins when metal detecting? I have a collection of Roman Imperial coins, most of which were discovered buried in the ground. I also have a 20 carat gold ring that came out of a dig in Bulgaria, along with several hundred coins that were struck around 200AD.

Wishing everyone a great, af Sunday.

      MAE ALL...

Ok, I posted yesterday but apparently it's in the cosmos.

Mick...thanks for kicking off the thread and I hope the weather improved for you detecting.

QW...didn't realize you were another Calgarian, there's a couple of us this thread. Oh oh, I see a long history post from Mick, a fellow collector. I was glad the snow last night was the light fluffy kind, not looking forward to Tuesday -14C for our high and of course that's when my Dr. appointment is. At least it's bright and sunny today.

Shout out to the rest, sorry I can't auto recover yesterday's post. Have a great Sunday all....:smiel:PPQP

          Mae all -

Mick, I hope detecting was good today, and that you stayed warm and dry while out there. No pup for me in the immediate future... life is not as sweet as when one has a furry companion, but it is a lot easier (for now). Some day...

Lav, what a scary story about the guys running around with guns... I'm glad that YB has pull, with the head guy... hopefully nothing like that will happen again. So glad that you finished up your work and can now just get settled and ready for the holiday. Whew, that's a lot of kielbasa!

PPQ, yikes, the cold is happening for you! So sorry. We had a nice dusting of snow, but then high winds and rain (lots of tree branches flung and downed trees) and it was nearly 50 F today... feels very strange for December 12.

I was treated to a trip to a nearby town with my housemate and 2 of her friends. We saw a live theater production of "White Christmas" which was very nostalgic and sweet. Some good singing and dancing too...

Hello QW, thanks for dropping by. Pauly, hoping that the kids are getting better and staying better. Det, hoping you are feeling ok, and getting some good holiday shoots. Hello to all dropping by.

The quarter-moon tonight was brilliant and sparkly... more light is coming soon...

And good morning all how are we today then question mark hope everyone is well. Yes, I went detecting yesterday, I drove problems with the the car are at all. All in all it was a good day out it was nice and sunny and 12 degrees. I found in total 17 Roman bronze coins, most pretty rubbish in condition, however there was three nice coins. In addition to that, I also found a Roman brooch cast in the shape of a duck. It still has some of the red enamel on it. The the pin at the back is missing but nevertheless it is a really nice find

Morning qw and how are you today then mate? Hope all is well. Over the years I have found a good few coins Celtic Roman mediaeval Saxon and more silver copper alloyed and gold coins not too many of the latter! I have a fair size collection Roman coins mostly little bronzies, but about 50 imperial silvers as well a couple of Republicans as well. A few Roman gold over the years. I like the Roman bronze coins with their picture stories on the back, the camp gay the altar of Victory the Roman soldiers the slaves of The Voice of the people and the commemoratives like Romulus and Remus. I do prefer to find items as opposed to coins they have a direct link to the past. Hope you are doing well take care

Hiya ppqp how are you today then?hope all is well. The case of the missing post strikes again.should we rename this thread the calgary times?..the more the merrier .Best of luck at the doctors on toosdi

Hiya lav how are things with you?wow I certainly know I was detecting yesterday..I'm aching today..2 hrs drive, walking across fields non stop for 6 hours 2 hr drive home..it was good though. Reading your post, I have an idea to make some soup up too.takecare and have a good day.

Hiya teegee how are you then?hope all is good. Don't get a dog get a rabbit they are crazy!!!I caught Bonnie last night sitting in an armchair eating the bristles off a paintbrush last night. I have checked her this morning she is ok.

Hiya pauly how are you then ?How's Lou?

Right folks time to go. Take care

              MAE ALL...

Quiet day here today, cold but sunny. Of course because I have an appointment tomorrow it's going to be -14C for a high! I don't really mind the cold but it's supposed to start snowing around 8pm and go all night. Will be digging the car out in the morning.

Lav...nice that you got by the family plots and were able to see your daughter/gdaughter yesterday. Just re-read you Sunday post after TG mention guns. How did I miss that! I hope YB gets everything sorted out quickly, you don't need any of that crap going on. Soup will definitely be a good idea for dinner tomorrow.

TG...what a nice adventure for you, live productions are the best. I think you're wise on waiting a bit before getting another furry companion, just can't see you getting a rabbit though. LOL

Mick...I'm glad you had good weather for your detecting yesterday. And glad the car was ok. You did manage to find a few things, nice. Had to look twice at the Roman Brooch, first glance I did not see a duck. LOL I bet you're a little sore today, it's been a few weekends since you were out last. No I don't think we'll rename the thread, too confusing to others. LOL

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP

                Re: 12 Dec

                Good evening friends,

Spent my day unexpectedly being nurse/grandmother to my oldest grandson son. Picked him up from the school nurse with a low grade fever & earache, oh boy. Turns out he had a boatload of wax in that ear so I used Debrox drops & flushed his ear 3X. He still had some pain but said he could hear for the first time in 3 days, haha! A couple of doses of Ibuprofen & several meals & snacks later he was happier. His dad picked him up at 6:30 so my work is done. I think he needs an antibiotic though & hope he can see someone tomorrow.

Cyn, I’m a bit confused about the gun toting Amish guys. Surely they know the deer hunting in this area is bow & arrow only so why the guns?
I don’t eat sausage all year but having kielbasa is a festive thing for us. My brothers loving called it ‘tube steak’ when we were young haha. The kind that is made by the Lancaster butcher is not as garlic-ky so there’s much less heartburn involved which is a blessing.
Yesterday was my big dog Maxie’s birthday so I’ve been missing her. I would so love to get another big dog but not sure it’s in the cards. They are family “hug:

Mick, glad your detecting day was good! It’s nice to have a little something to show for all that work.
I make a lot of soup in the cold weather, can happily eat it every day.

PQ, I hope you bundle up well & make it to your appointment unfrozen tomorrow. Geez, the weather is giving us whiplash, crazy.
Well, the new Amish family that hasn’t even moved in yet has stirred up the neighbors. I know they will listen to their bishop when he reads them the riot act, Lol

Hello to Pauly, Det, QW, Sam & Pie.

                Have a nice night all!

                  Mae all,

Hello QW, nice to see you! How's life - also a big cold wave?

PQ, dear me such cold temps... good luck... but I guess it is December... I hope that you didn't have a lot of digging out to do for the car...

Mick, that brooch is fantastic! Along with the other things... congrats! Nice that you had a good haul for all the driving and walking. Rabbits? I could never afford the vet bills! Just kidding... I am enjoying having a morning conversation with my 2 morning pals out in the field... we chat while they are out there munching. No pets for me for awhile, sigh...

Lav, oh Maxie... Just hearing her name brings me back to the early days of our threads... we've had our times with our pets, haven't we? Wow, your grandson is lucky to have a nurse/grandma... good job on the ear wax, wow! I hope he gets med and feels better soon. Vegan leek and potato soup... I'd love that recipe... sounds perfect for winter... hope you are relaxing a little...

My gosh, the scenes from the tornadoes are shocking - so heartbreaking, so terrible. And all I was worried about for my drive was avoiding snow storms... but I do go through Illinois... Well, I will try to choose wisely when I travel, and I will be sending big positive thoughts out. But not even sure of a departure date yet. We'll see...

Hello to Pauly... hoping you not too stressed about the holiday, and can enjoy the kids. Did Lou ever get better?

Hello to Det, and all else dropping by... cheers to all...

Hello all and How are we today then? Hope everyone is doing well. It is really foggy over here today, you can't even see the fields behind the house. So it is a stay indoors day today doing some repairs on the railway, sounds like a big job doesn't it haha

Hiya det nice to see you my friend and and that things are still going good for you. I empathize with you over the 2 hour driving that's exactly what I did on Sunday! Take care and look after yourself hope that shoot goes well

Hiya teegee and how are you today? Hope everything is going well for you you and things are starting to settle down. Have you any plans for over Christmas? So the pet idea didn't get the complete brush off but is only on hold at the moment. I understand what you mean, yes pets can hold you back, but the affection they give you in return more than makes up for it. You take care and look after yourself.

Hiya lav . Ear we go....How's the grandson doing?hope he is ok yes you're right when we bring animals into our homes they become part of the family, I'm sure a maxi I would bring you much joy. As for eating sausages, I love them all kinds whether it is Cumberland sausage square sausage or German wurst done in the various types. So it is a new Amish family that has moved in is it? I'm suretheir Fortunes will soon be read for them. Take care and have a good one

Hiya ppqp and how are you today then? Hope your appointment went ok and the weather held out for you as well. Yes I can definitely tell tell it is a while since I have been detecting bottom of my back and both shoulders still aching though not as bad full stop that's what you get for doing extreme sports haha take care and have a great day

                      Big shout to everyone else

                          Mae all -

Det, so goo d to see you!!! Oh dear, it lunes likemyou have some of the symptoms of Long-haul Covid.... so sorry. I empathize... it an really be frustrating, the fatigue and the foggy thinking. The only thing I can offer is that it WILL slowly abate, there is hope. Hang in there - wishing you a safe trip for your gig. Plan extra time to rest, if you can... good luck.

Techie, how nice is always is to have you drop by. I was saddened to see that you have had Covid losses... thanking for posting about the need to stay vigilant. Wishing you well.

Mick, thanks for the reminder about all kinds of sausages... I have forgotten about them as a good go-to staple in the kitchen. I've nearly forgotten how to cook, being alone this last year. But tonight for my kind hostess, I am going to attempt Avgolemono soup (Greek lemon and chicken with rice)... I have a taste for it in particular (unusual for me). Wish me luck,

Lav, you must be taking care of boys, or cooking up a storm. I hope all is well with you -- I am sit loving my "angel".

PPQ, how did your doctor appointment go? And how was your snow? I heard from my friends in Tahoe, and they said the Mt.Rose highway from Reno up to Tahoe was closed.... amazing, that doesn't happen too often...

Pauly, sending you some virtual happy Christmas light... hope al is well...

QW and any who drop by, wishing you well... the moon is absolutely filled with light, and gorgeous, making up for these dark days...

                            Good evening friends,

We had a decent & mild day with sun so no complaints. Got my hair cut & baked up a bunch of cookies. The Christmas cookie production has begun haha!!

Mick, I texted my grandson because of course I didn’t hear from his parents, Lol. He said he did get to the doctor today & had the ear flushed out & was given some ear drops. I remember those ear infections when i was a kid, they’re miserable. Polish sausage once or twice a year isn’t going to kill me, I just couldn’t eat it all the time. Everyone actually looks forward to it too

Det, wow, sorry you are still feeling so poorly. Getting over this virus apparently isn’t swift or easy. Rest when you can & work when you can - what else can you do? Hope you’re better very soon & good luck with your photo shoot.

                            Techie, hello to you!

Cyn, I can’t keep up with all the weather changes, it’s crazy. The big question every day is ‘do I wear a jacket or not?’ Half the time it’s no for the jacket, i overheat too easily.
I’m glad your angel is still with you
Here’s that recipe: Creamy Vegan Potato Leek Soup - Minimalist Baker Recipes
I actually leave the skins on - makes the soup more alkaline for my bones. I sub oat milk for coconut milk to make my gut happier. Make it yours!!!

PQ, hope the trip to the doc went OK & your roads are in good shape.

Hello to Pauly, Sam, Pie & QW.

                              MAE ALL...

Baby, it's cold out there. Currently sitting at -17C/1.4F and the low tonight is -20C/-4F and I won't even talk about windchill! Had a good dump of snow overnight but it was the light fluffy kind so didn't take long to clean off the car this morning. Left early for the Doc appointment but the roads were good. It really depended on where in the city you live. Checkup went ok but she's order some more tests just to be on the safe side. I'm not booking my next annual checkup until the spring time. LOL

Det...good to see your post, sorry you're still dealing with covid after effects. You take it easy and rest when you can. Have you got your taste back at least?

Mick...what's with the fog? Is it warming up or cooling down? Glad you stayed home today, no reason to be out on those roads and a perfect day for railway repairs. Extreme sports :rotlf:

                              Techie...blessing to you as well.

TG...apparently Tahoe really got clobbered, it was on our news. I forgot how to cook a long time ago, waiting to move into one of those old folk places where they feed me 3 meals a day. LOL

Lav...I'm glad you texted your grandson and that he was seen by a Doctor. Ear infections are no fun. I think you'll be wearing a jacket if not something warmer very soon. This arctic air flow is heading your way. Sorry about that. Just have to get through the next 3 days and then I'm off for 2 weeks. :yay: Then I don't care what the temperature is. LOL

Waves to Pi, Sam, QW and Pauly. Have a restful night all....:smile:PPQP
