    Mae all -

Happy birthday Lav! All the cookies sound delicious. My grandmother used to make "kolachies" - cream cheese in the the pastry, we filled them with apricot jam, yum. Hope you are having a good day...

Mick, I hope you were warm and dry for this day of detecting... looking forward to hear what you found...

PPQ, Pauly, Det, QW, and all else, sending lots of full moon magic your way. Hoping all is well...

I decided not to start out on my drive tomorrow... too many loose ends to tie up. Will finish up tomorrow, load the car, and head out on Tuesday... enough time to make it to my family for the holiday...

Stay safe and sane and protect yourselves, all. Cheers -

      Good evening friends,

My DIL surprised me bringing dinner over along with the grandsons. My son got here late coming from work but it was nice to see them all
Colder & a bit damp today, feeling more seasonal for sure.

Mick, I hope your day went well detecting & you didn’t turn into a popsicle or anything, Lol

Cyn, I’ll be looking forward to your updates as you travel. Wishing you a smooth ride & good weather for the trip. It will be good for you to be with family for the holidays

PQ, hope your day went well!

Hello to Det & Pauly, Sam & Pie, QW & Techie.

      Have a nice night all!

Hello everyone and how are we today then? hope everyone is doing ok. Cold over here, but at least it was dry full stop was out detecting yesterday could not see anything for the Fog full stop it was foggy and dark at the start of the day when we came home it was still foggy and dark. I found 3 Roman bronze coins, and mediaeval cut half penny from roughly 1300. So that was that just getting stuff ready to take away with us on Thursday, that's if Worzel Gummidge doesn't make any new legislation to stop us going. Feeling that I'll just go to a party in Downing Street

Hiya lav how are you today then? Well that was a bit of a surprise! How was the atmosphere? Ok? Not a lot happening over here today, unless you class 2 rabbits trying to eat everything fight everything and poop on everything as something spectacular!

Hiya teegee how are you then today? Have you managed to get all the loose ends tied up ready for your journey tomorrow? I hope so. Yes I didn't find much yesterday at all but that's the way it goes nobody replaces the stuff you take out of the ground! Does pastries sound nice but I would much prefer them savoury. Let us know how you get on on your travels you can start your own travel diary! Take care have a great day

Hiya everyone else hope all is well with y'all....

          MAE ALL...

Lav...Happy Belated Birthday! Nice surprise for you. Cold here today as well but not as cold as Christmas Day, the high is going to be -29C/-20F! We're having a bit of a heat wave tomorrow and Wednesday, I have to check the building on Wednesday so I'm glad it won't be bitterly cold. Will pick up what ever else I need for the weekend and just stay put.

TG...best laid plans eh? Hope you get everything done and are able to head out tomorrow. Let us know how the trip goes.

Mick...I can't believe you were out detecting yesterday and actually found some things. I hate the fog! I hope nothing interferes with your plans for Thursday. All the provinces are starting to up restrictions due to Omicron, nothing new for Alberta yet.

Shout out to the rest of the gang. Have a good night....:smile:PPQP

Hello everyone and how are we today then? Hope all is well and staying safe. It seems like not only this country is in a bit of a mess due to the virus and also the political ramblings and wrangling that are going on but also quite a few others. I see America has got the omicron virus as it's main one now as well. It's quite strange yesterday over here apparently there were 91000 cases but but out of all that there were 44 deaths that were covered related or had symptoms of covered within the last 28 days. One of the scientists has said that as the strains mutate they grow weaker even though they spread faster. Worzel Gummidge has said there may now be extra restrictions put on and yet he hasn't told anyone what they are going to be. Basically he is bluffing his case because he knows well that to make any restrictions now now they cannot recall Parliament till after Christmas and it needs their authority and agreement to put the restrictions through. Up it seems the general consensus over here is look after yourself stay safe and be sensible not what that nutcase wants.

Hiya ppqp.. how are you then? hope all is well I saw a video This Morning the last of the tanks going out onto the Prairie at camp crowfoot. Lovely to see see and hear the sound of the panzers. I think it was taken by a Canadian guy over there because it has the title will we ever see the tanks in Suffield again. Yes I was out on Sunday, I enjoyed it even though I didn't find too much. Take care look after yourself and have a good day

Hiya lav how are you? Hope all is well with you you?

Hiya teegee has your journey started? Best of luck take it easy stay safe

                MAE ALL...

Heat wave in progress. One more coffee then will pop out for supplies. Quick trip to the community centre tomorrow to check on things, then hunkering down for the deep freeze.

Mick...same thing going on over here, Omicron exploding everywhere and everybody waiting to see what's next. I know I wouldn't be planning any international travel at this time. I did google Worzel Gummidge and chuckled as I know who you're talking about. LOL That really was some fog you got.

I couldn't find the video you mentioned but did find this...(Nov 24, 2021)

British Defence Secretary Ben Wallace, told a U.K. media outlet the British Army Training Unit Suffield (BATUS) would remain, though with changes. “Of course, we’ll change what we do there because some of those forces we might use elsewhere, but no, we’re not closing BATUS,” he told the U.K.’s Forces.net

Good to know they're not pulling out all together.

TG...hope you're safely on your way. Take it easy and safe travels.

Pauly...hope you're ready for Christmas and you have a great BF day too. I have to confess I didn't even do a tree this year. Going to sort out some more piles of "stuff" and then do some furniture rearranging.

Lav...I'm doing Christmas on the down low this year. Picked up a frozen stuffed turkey breast I can cook from frozen. I will do the gravy, mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts though. It'll be interesting to hear how you Christmas goes this year. I hope it's all positive.

Hello to Pi, Det, Sam and QW. Hope we all have a great day....:smile:PPQP

                  Re: 19th Dec

                  Good evening all,

I know I posted yesterday but it went somewhere else, bummer.

Today I got a call from the school nurse to pick up my oldest grandson with a slight fever. One week ago yesterday i also picked him up when he had the ear infection.
Then I find out the 10 yr old is home alone & sick with a fever. WTF?I tracked down my DIL & told her to buy test kits & come pick up her kid. Her test & the 13yr old’s test were negative but the 10 yr old is Covid +. THEN I find out they never got around to getting him vaccinated (the 13 yr old has had 2 shots). Now we’re really pissed. I won’t let them come back in here for at least 14 days so they can stay home for Christmas. I picked up test kits for us to use Friday morning so my daughter, granddaughter & SIL can come over Christmas eve.

Hey to PQ, Mick & Pauly!
                  Hello to Det & everyone.

Cyn, hope you are doing well on the beginning of your trip!
Sorry but I am just a little too perturbed right now to talk nice, haha!
                  Wishing everyone a good night!

Lav...unbelievable!!! I would be pissed too! Good on you, no visit for at least 14 days. Alberta opened the booster to everyone over18 and shortened the time from the last vaccine from 6 to 5 months so I now qualify. I will be checking out the empty community centre tomorrow and then heading for my booster, hopefully I can get one. No plans to gather with anyone so status quo at home.

Hello and how are we today then? Just had a quick look at the posts and yes we are all three of us good. Cold and frosty over here this morning, I have checked the weather forecast for the next few days showers rain showers snow should be fun in the van. Just getting stuff sorted out for tomorrow to take away with us, Julie keeps haha trying to remind me it's just up the road

Hiya ppqp how are you today then? Hope you are good. That's good news for the economy over there that at least there are going to be some troops training at batus plus without any bias I thought it was absolutely brilliant and most of those that I served with did too full stop interesting that they have dropped the 6-months gap before you can get a booster down to 5 months I think it's the same the world over they are trying to save the economy but at the same time trying to see see what the minimum levels of protection are for people full stop over here they have just dropped the 10-day isolation down to 7-days just looking at your reply to lav..hope its all positive. Eeeeeeek. Yes Worzel has said there will be no restrictions before Christmas you can bet your bottom dollar there will be Boxing Day or the day after. Take care and look after yourself in the deep freeze with status quo good group by the way haha

Hiya lav you sound like one real on happy lady and rightly so. I certainly wouldn't bloody except that didn't have the time to get the 10-year-old vaccinated when the 13 year old has had two none of my business really but I would suggest children's health comes priority. Have you tested yourself? And there was me thinking that was you talking nice haha seriously though you look after yourself.

Hiya to all of the rest of the gang...hope you areall doing ok x

                        Re: 19th Dec

                        Greetings friends,

Cold & windy here, finally haha!!! We just took a ride thru the Herrs factory Christmas lights, very pretty displays & it’s free, LOL
We have been face timing with the sick kid, he seems to be doing OK. Yes, I am still pissed off about this, not fair to the kid or any of us.

Mick, I think it’s still a 10 day isolation here but no matter. He has to miss everything.
We ALWAYS put the kid’s health before anything & everything. Doesn’t every parent or am I just deluded?? We have test kits here & will use them Friday morning so we can let our daughter know it’s safe or not.

PQ, hope the booster went well for you. We have to do everything we can to keep ourselves safe during this mess.
Staying home sounds like a good idea until this Omicron variant wears itself out.

Hello to Cyn, hope your trip is going well.

Pauly, Det, Sam, Pie & everyone hope you are all well.

                          Re: 19th Dec

                          Mae all -

Sorry to be out of touch... getting ready, getting all in the car on Monday (plus 2 boxes mailed) took the starch out of me. Then started out early on Monday, was exhausted after the 7 hour drive to Youngstown, got up and did a shorter drive today... in Joliet, IL now (south and west of Chicago). Though tired again, I'm trying to stay up for a few more hours (changed time zone) so that I don't wake up while it's o'dark outside. With these cold temps, I need to wait until the sun is up and the roadways are safe.

PPQ, my gosh, what a cold wave you will be enduring!!! No fun! I'm glad to hear that you were able to pick up supplies and are ready to stay in and hunker down. Good luck with all.

Pauly, thanks for dropping in - sending you good wishes, and an AF holiday as well...

Lav, unbelievable! But this Omicron thing is so very hard to track, and the breakthroughs rare happening to everyone. After reading 2 articles in the Atlantic, I wrote my family... ideally, I would sequester and test everyday before being close to anyone... it seems that Omiceon flourishes so quickly when it decides to "go" that the test can change from morning to night. I don't want to expose my whole family! So we'll see. I had a negative rapid test on Monday, will do another rapid test tomorrow (I should arrive to my family tomorrow night) and try to get a PCR test on the 24th. Then will buy more rapid tests and do them each day until we're sure I'm in the clear. Or I'll just sequester in my brother's loft space,
. Whatever. Who knew my first Christmas with family would be so fraught!! So sorry for your change in plans... does the dinner they brought over mean that you might have been exposed? Aaaaargh! Hope not!

Mick, that fog was awesome, if annoying. Your find makes me think of part of the Xmas carolers song "...if you haven't got a penny, a ha-penny will do, and if you haven't got a ha-penny, then god bless you..."

Sending good wishes to all - hoping the lead-up to Christmas will be healthy and happy...

                            MAE ALL...

Mick...good luck with your travels tomorrow. Isn't Julie right? Didn't you come back and forth the last time you were out there? You set the precedent. At least you're not looking at the bitter cold that's going to settle over us for the weekend. I think the push is on to get everyone triple vaxed as soon as possible. Same old shit here, the Premiere suggested businesses cancel their Christmas staff parties yet his political party held a 200 person Christmas party in Edmonton the next day. The one scheduled for Calgary today was cancelled. What a shock.

Lav...had to check out Herrs factory Christmas lights, sounded wonderful. Here's what I found...

                            lav.jpg

I'm glad your grandson is doing ok and you're right it wasn't fair to anyone. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get the booster, they had run out. Since I'm not going anywhere or seeing anyone I was ok with that. I can wait.

TG...don't you worry about being out of touch, we know you'll check in when you can. Hope you can sort your time zone/sleeping patterns out, you're absolutely right to be waiting for sunlight to drive. Such a frustrating time for families but you are doing everything right. I'm glad you're able to get the rapid testing and PCR tests, we're having a tough time with supply here. Drive safely.

Popped over to the community centre and even though we're still out one furnace (we have 4) we're doing ok. Have heat going through hallways and adjoining rooms so everything's ok for now. No luck for my booster so picked up a few staples so I didn't have to go out again. It was a mad house everywhere. I'm sure everyone was thinking the same thing, get it done before the temp drop.
Got home around 1pm and have been listening to my oldest son loose it on a phone call. This continued till 5:30pm and to be honest I'm a little concerned. I know he was talking to a friend and I don't eavesdrop but with intermitted ranting and raving it wasn't hard to over hear things. A couple of comments were "I don't want logic, I'm hurting and just want comfort and support". "I'm broken, lost my house and the f*king government wants to lock me in it. If I disagree they'll kill me." I know he hasn't dealt with his finances in regards to his property and 2 years of Covid has had it's toll. I went upstairs about an hour ago just as he was yelling he'd had enough and would talk or not later. I opened his door and said I too have had enough. I try not to react when he gets this way, usually makes things worse, but didn't want the neighbours phoning a complaint into the cops. It's now 6pm and all is quiet upstairs, the call must have ended. I'm hoping the emotional stress he just went through has worn him out and he's sleeping. I'm not sure how to help him but will try to have a talk in the morning. Just going to be supportive and listen. May talk to a crisis councilor after that for advise. All kinds of public announcements about reaching out for things like this.
Thanks for being here so I could share what's going on and not feel so alone.

Hoping everyone is staying healthy and warm. Have a good night all....:smile:PPQP
